The staff at reception were friendly and polite when I arrived, and check-in was quick.

Unfortunately, the condition of the rooms was very disappointing. The first room had a noticeable mold/musty smell and very old furnishings. The television was extremely outdated and had no usable internet connection, so I asked if another room was available. They moved me to a room on the ground floor, but the mold smell there was much stronger. It was so heavy that my throat started to burn shortly after entering the room. I tried opening the windows and running the air conditioner, but it made no difference. The air conditioner itself was also very noisy and appeared poorly maintained. The smell was not simply “humidity”; it was a very strong mold-like smell throughout the room, including around the bed and mattress. Although the bed linen appeared clean, the mattress itself smelled very musty. I stayed in the room for less than an hour and did not use the bathroom, bed or other facilities. I went back to reception, explained that I could not safely or comfortably spend the night there, and asked either for another suitable room or to cancel my stay. My deposit was returned, but the 700 THB room payment was refused. I booked another hotel immediately afterwards, where the room was clean and comfortable, and stayed there instead. I think refusing a refund in these circumstances was very disappointing, especially as I had barely used the room at all. I am writing this so future guests are aware of the condition of the rooms before booking.

Ich habe das Zimmer für eine Nacht gebucht. Super sauberes und sehr grosses Zimmer. Einen kurzen Spaziergang vom Hotel entfernt ist das riesige Central Surat Thani Einkaufszentrum. Verlässt man das Hotel und folgt der Strasse nach rechts, kommen einige ausgezeichnete Thai Restaurants. Wer eine Unterkunft sucht, die nicht direckt im Zentrum der Stadt ist, liegt mit dem Merlin Hotel sicher nicht falsch. Tuktuk, oder das Personal bestellt einen Grab, wenn man von A nach B will.

Mir hat alles gefallen. Gut zu wissen: Das Personal spricht nur sehr beschränkt englisch. Ist aber total hilfsbereit. Check-In erst ab 14:00.

The hotel itself was very nice – the room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Parking was convenient and easy, which was a big plus. Overall the property looked well maintained and the stay was pleasant.

Unfortunately the breakfast was very disappointing. It had a strong unpleasant smell and the food was tasteless. It was by far the worst breakfast we experienced during our trip in Thailand, so we would not recommend paying extra for it.

Check in dauerte verhältnismäßig lange, Rezeption offensichtlich bei Onlinebuchungen überfordert. Frühstück nicht empfehlenswert, besser ohne Frühstück buchen und in ein Cafe gehen

Sauber und zentral gelegen. Das Badezimmer und die japanische Toilette waren gut.

Die Ausstattung der Zimmer entspricht nicht der Beschreibung. Keine Minibar, kein Bademantel, kein Teebeutel, kein Schrank usw. Die Zimmer sind sehr hellhörig, nicht schallisoliert.

Das Hotel liegt in der Innenstadt von Surat Thani. In unmittelbarer Nähe befinden sich Einkaufsmäglichkeiten, Restaurants und Bars. Die Zimmer sind ordentlich, gut ausgestattet und sauber. Das Personal ist freundlich. Es gibt einen Lift und Personal zum Transport des Gepäckes. Parkplätze sind vorhanden. Im Vorraum steht kostenlos Kaffee zur Verfügung.

Bei voller Belegung des Hotels stehen nicht genug Parkplätze zur Verfügung. Das Einchecken hat fast 30 Minuten gedauert. Es gibt einen Frühstücksraum, aber es gab kein Frühstück. Die Zimmer sind hellhörig.

Lo scarico della doccia non funzionava creando un piccolo allagamento in bagno; alcune prese della stanza non funzionavano; il personale della reception nonostante sia molto gentile e disponibile non parla inglese; ho chiesto l'asciugacapelli poichè non presente in camera ma era disponibile solo a pagamento.

ממוקם במקום שנראה כמו אזור תעשייה, אין מה לעשות מסביב ולנו התאים ללילה כתחנת מעבר לקוסמויי. אוכל כדאי לאכול במלון ממול...יש בו מגוון סוגי אוכל והכל טעים.

De kamers waren echt heel netjes.

Het ontbijt werd in een grote, fel verlichte zaal met televisie geserveerd en viel behoorlijk tegen. Maar dat kon je misschien ook verwachten voor de prijs die we betaalden.

De kamer was ruim opgezet en de badkamer goed verzorgd, wat zorgde voor een comfortabel verblijf. 🍳 Lekker ontbijt Het ontbijt was smakelijk en bood voldoende keuze om de dag goed te beginnen. 🛍️ Toplocatie nabij winkelcentra Op loopafstand bevinden zich twee winkelcentra, waaronder Central Suratthani — tot nu toe het grootste en meest indrukwekkende centrum dat ik ben tegengekomen. Binnenin dit moderne complex vind je tientallen streetfoodkraampjes met een breed aanbod aan heerlijke lokale gerechten. Een absolute aanrader voor liefhebbers van Thais eten!

We had an excellent experience at the Marlin Hotel in Surat Thani. The hotel is clean and well-maintained, and the value for money is truly outstanding. We booked three rooms, each with two comfortable and spacious beds, good air conditioning, and an excellent bathroom. Special thanks go to Poom at the reception. He speaks good English and not only helped us greatly when we lost a bag at the airport, but also truly made sure it was returned to us. His dedication, persistence, and personal commitment made all the difference. In short: a very pleasant stay and highly recommended for anyone visiting Surat Thani!

Ontbijt is voor westerlingen minder uitgebreid, maar dat is logisch aangezien ze weinig westerlingen ontvangen.

The rooms are quiet, clean and spacious with a lovely bathroom, staff are very nice and helpful.

There is no kettle or hairdryer in the room, the breakfast is poor, cold fried eggs and not much choice of anything.

Walking distance to markets and shopping centres.

Both bathrooms had blocked drains and water flowed back into the showers. Staff were not very approachable or friendly. Would have been nice to have a kettle in room - there is communal tea and coffee facilities on first floor though

Everything was great. The highlight are the toilets, best we ever had.

Decent location, within walking distance to a Lotus mall and 7-11. The room was spacious and quite comfortable, and reasonably priced.

Cleanliness could be improved, there were stains on the sheets and some of the towels, and stuff from previous stays left behind the couch cushions. Also the staff, whilst polite and nice, doesn’t speak much English.

Room smelled with cigarettes. Walls are thin so you can almost hear every word when you neighbors talk. The rooftop they you can see on the hotel photos probably doesn’t exist, at least that’s what the staff at the reception told me.

Staff as always make excuses to keep your deposit then make up lies about towels being to dirty to wash lies

It was great value for money. The rooms were spacious and clean.

My husband bought breakfast vouchers, before he realised that it was very much only Asian breakfast. When we tried to return them, 5 minutes later, they said it wasn't possible. Which we found a little ridiculous. You could hear the elevator sound through the walls. It wasn't very loud, but if you have trouble falling asleep, you might want to request a room far away from the elevators. The location wasn't amazing. We chose it, because it was rather close to an indoor playground. Though there is a mall a few minutes walk from it, which was good to know.
