Location, staff service, breakfast quality and choices, amazing view. Nicky serving breakfast was an absolute star.
The room no.8 was extremely small and not enough space to manoeuvre for two adults, I hit my back on a shelf sticking out as packing my suitcase. The bed was very short and mattress springs were poking underneath feeling sharp under fabric. The separate bathroom across the corridor with another bedroom next door made it extremely inconvenient. It was advertised not ensuite, but didn’t expect it to be public sharing landing. The bedding or room smelt of dog. We kept smelling it now and again in bed. We both had a poor sleep.
Location; convenient parking (£7 pn); friendly staff; clean room.
At £215 for one night I did not expect to have to walk across the hallway to access the toilet/bathroom. While the room was acceptably clean the access up narrow, steep staircase was less so, with areas of clutter which did not make a very good first impression. Breakfast was fine - but nothing more. The room right at the top of the building did have a harbour view through the window .. but I would have preferred an en-suite bathroom ! I got the impression that dogs were allowed into all rooms. The ‘Courtyard’ room to which I was transferred for my second night (notwithstanding a telephone conversation 3 weeks before to avoid just that scenario) was stretching the term, albeit the room itself was acceptable. Sorry to have to say that I would not stay again.
Location was good breakfast good our room smelt really bad we slept with the window open even in the rain
The smell in the room getting out the door was akward trying to manager 2 doors
Exceptional views. Staff very pleasant & welcoming on arrival.
Bed mattress worn, could feel the springs so not a good nights sleep. Small cubical shower, running cold & hot. Wife found stairs alittle difficult, narrow, was not made aware of when booking. Breakfast small, with single slice of over coked bacon.
The location the staff everything. It was like being home from home
We had a room with a separate bathroom. Would definitely go back but book ensuite
Staff welcoming, friendly and helpful
Clean and friendly
Very homely. Great location. Very welcoming to dogs
Everything was wonderful - nothing not to like
A great, traditional B&B. Our room was a double, located on the second floor overlooking the harbour. Three night stay. Room had tea / coffee making facilities, a good shower, comfy bed & little fridge inside. Two chairs situated by the window meaning we spent hours watching the comings & flings of the harbour - it’s quite mesmerising! We used it as a base to explore not only Brixham, but local beaches (loved Broadsands), Totnes & Dartmouth (via boat). A bonus was having breakfast included - a lovely lady taking orders & Barry in the kitchen cooking. Both friendly & helpful with any questions of the local area. I’d definitely recommend 😊 Thank you!
The only thing I’d say is that rooms aren’t refreshed daily & theres no reception / onsite staff except at breakfast - but we didn’t find this an issue.
Breakfast was good, plenty of usual cereal/fruit/pastries. The cooked breakfast was a bonus! Looking at some other reviews, they seem a bit unfair. Yes, the room was a little tired, but spotless and perfectly adequate. Great toiletries! We read all the descriptions and were actually expecting the room to be smaller than it was. The seats at the window with the view over the harbour were lovely. The location was perfect. We had reserved parking, which was very helpful!
Only needs some updating when the time and finances allow. There was nothing we didn't dislike for a few days stay.
The location was perfect and the views were amazing.
Quirky old building. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Beautiful view from the room. Very good location. Cheaper parking than normal. The breakfast is lovely. Can park down the road to load.
No parking on site, due to location. Parking is below, down on the harbour. Need to be fit as there are a number of awkward stairs to negotiate. Room windows could do with an upgrade.
The view
Too small bit outdated
Location was brilliant, towels were very nice
The room was compact
Perfect location right on the harbour the view stunning breakfast was very tasty (mix of picky bits and a cooked brekkie) staff 20/10 soo helpful lots of ideas of where to go can leave your luggage there which is a massive help! There's a guest fridge as well and normal complementary bits tea coffee shower gel etc
however if you are a wheelchair user anything like that the pavement to the property is very very small even getting our small cases up the road was tricky so bare that in mind if you have a pram etc also no lift
Amazing location, lovely breakfast, clean rooms
Small bed, seemed very short. Mattress was comfy though
Great location. Great view over the harbour. Great communication and helpful with parking. Breakfast was simple and adequate. Staff seemed nice at breakfast.
I was sorely disappointed having read the reviews. Our room was £142 for the night, couldnt swing a cat around in it. The room needed repainting, it was very dirty on the walls and the carpet wasn’t much better. The shower room smelt of damp and the flooring was disgusting. They need to sort that out. Radiator rusty. Wardrobe musty. Windows filthy. Doors were dirty. Curtains half on , half off rail. Both the room key and front door key opened our room lock!!!! Interesting. Request NOT to have room 2.
Central location, clean and comfortable room with great view, friendly staff, accommodating of our dog, and fantastic breakfasts.

The breakfast and shutting out the light in our room
Great location, in the heart of Brixham. Very friendly people.
Too hot in the room and duvet too heavy for the time of year and temperature.
Very good communication & instructions by hosts. Pre booking parking recommended. Extremely convenient position & excellent breakfast
Can’t fault anything
Great stay lovely staff very friendly and helpful, our room was lovely and clean with stunning views. Breakfast was really tasty we will definitely be returning.
Really friendly staff, and a great breakfast. Also they were very happy if you took your own food in, and left everything you would need out. The location was fantastic, very close to everything and a great view of the harbour from out bedroom window. Really enjoyable stay
Nothing to dislike!
Excellent
Steep stairs
Location and staff
There was nothing I’d change
Harbour view is situated perfectly above the harbour itself which gives you amazing views over Brixham aswell. The reserved car parking space was very useful and not far from the property. The staff were all very pleasant would reccommend staying there

As a previous visitor to Brixham with family when i was young this place still holds a piece of my heart, We decided to use Harbour View for a one night stop over on the way to cornwall, room was cosy with a lovely harbour view with a cracking breakfast, the hosts of this property were very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay here would recommend and use this property again. Parking is by arrangement at a cost of £7 per night in a reserved parking space on the harbour wall, bear in mind there's lots of steps from the parking to this property. A perfect location.
Staff were very helpful and pleasant Breakfast was freshly cooked Location great for town and harbour and coastal walks
Nothing
Breakfast fair,location good.
Bacon overdone, rooms at rear smallgood for
Lovely location overlooking the harbour. Great friendly and helpful staff, lovely breakfast. Nice rooms; like most properties in the area, some stairs to climb.
Position, friendly staff. Very good breakfast.
Room was a bit cramped, tiny bathroom.
The location, the room decor and the staff.
Going home.
Needs decorating.
The location
Unable to see the docks from our window but it was a quick last minute booking
Good communication. Excellent location. Very comfortable bed. Beautiful view. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast. Easy check-in. Excellent value for money.

Location was fantastic
Rooms were cramped
the view was great, clean quality bedding ,comfortable bed. well organised check in.
The room & bathroom were very small, very basic, no vanity unit & mirror to use for putting on make up & doing hair etc, but the room wasn't big enough for this. so had to make do, for the price, I don't feel I should have had to make do!!!!
Clean, good location

We booked this stay a considerable time ago but when we arrived we were on the 3rd floor up some totally dangerous stairs. As my Wife has asthma & arthritis and we are both in our 70's we left immediately without staying. When approached for a refund the proprietor & staff were not sympathetic and refused.
The view from the bedroom
The stairs unfortunately 😏
The view from the room and the location. The staff were excellent, friendly and efficient.
The shower would go very hot if a flush was pulled then go veey cold. The window catch was a bit ropey. The decor felt a bit tired but it was very clean.
Good breakfast pleasant staff
Location
Size of room. Dog hairs on the floor. Needs updating.
Wonderful location and staff. Would recommend as a good base with excellent views and breakfast.
The room was quite cosy and small but comfortable.
The staff at breakfast could not have been more friendly. The lady and gentleman both very nice
We were charged £146 for one night which actually was the most expensive stay for us over the 8 days we spent hiking on the swcp and we felt the most disappointing property. Our stay did not meet our expectations in several respects. On arrival, the property felt very "tired" even "shabby" (front porch in need of a paint job). Harbour View lacked a welcoming atmosphere; access to our key was via a key safe. After the narrow climb to our room, we saw that the window had black mould all around it and the only way it would stay open was to prop it open with a spoon. The sash window was broken and required fixing. The toilet roll holder hung off the wall. Relatively minor maintenance issues that could easily be addressed. We hiked the swcp over 8 days and out of our 6 x B&B's this offered the least value for money and provided the least satisfactory B&B experience for us. Positives were the lady and gentleman at breakfast. Overall, given the price, we expected a higher standard and left feeling that the accommodation most definitely did not represent good value for our needs. It was not the experience we hoped for and cannot recommend and would not stay here again. We have reviewed all properties we stayed at during our trip and have aimed to provide an honest and balanced account of each stay, if only to help others.
Did not eat
The beds were too narrow and the mattress was too soft. The carpet was wet ( maybe from cleaning)
Situated in a fantastic idyllic setting in the harbour, beautiful views overlooking the harbour from our bedroom window. The room was clean and it had all the facilities required. Nice breakfast and the staff are really pleasant and polite. Would definitely return.
The stairs to the top room are quite steep which may prove a problem if you have a mobility disability.
Stunning view and fantastic breakfast. Bed was comfortable
Comfortable, cosy, little private room, good central location with £7 parking in the harbour below. Lovely breakfast, friendly staff, easy check in.
Paint smell in the room, must have been decorated recently but no big deal
The location was great for bars restaurants and harbour, the bus stop is just a short walk away. which is a The room is basic but the beds were very comfortable but the shower is tiny. The staff are nice and the breakfast is cooked fresh There is no lift and we were on the second floor which wasn't ideal, but all in all we had a great few days.there.
Steep stairs, and small shower cubicle
Great location on the harbour. The breakfast was really good and the staff were exceptional - very welcoming and friendly
The decor in the room was pretty dated and needs renovating. The bathroom in our room (room 2) had issues with leaking shower which had obviously been there for an extended period because the floor covering was stained / damaged and I was concerned there may be issues with the structure underneath
Breakfast was great but the best thing about the hotel was the view from the room, which was tremendous once you had negotiated the stairs.
It would have been lovely to have a cold beer on arrival after a long day's walking, but there were pubs just down the road.
The location is the best about this property. Room was clean, breakfast and staff were lovely.
The room was a little stuffy/hot and couldn’t open the window enough to cool it down.
Comfy and excellent location.
The location is perfect and the parking is below on the harbour The hosts are so friendly at breakfast and always smiling happy to help definitely stay agin
Sehr gut
Die Fenster müssten repariert werden und aus der Dusche läuft das Wasser auf den schon leicht gammeligen Boden
Excellent views. Host Steve was very responsive
Shower temperature a bit difficult to control
Great vista
Challenging stairs to rooms & parking on harbour front away from property.
De mevrouw van het ontbijt was heel aardig en deed enorm haar best om het ons tot de zin te maken.
De badkamer was vies, veel schimmel. Het hoofdbord van het bed was niet schoon.
Location, friendly staff ,good value
Nothing I can think of

Exceptional views from room, really comfy bed
Room v tired, shower went very hot to v cold several times during use. Rope banister made going up/downstairs difficult. Only one decent bag (Yorkshire tea) Metal posts not ideal for carparking. V difficult to park with these in.place when several cars parked.
loved the breakfast and the people that provided it
The room. Didn't mind the stairs but I didn't like seeing the cleaning materials half way up. The room was smaller than expected and the "seating area" was two chairs squashed in between the bed and the window and also making it difficult to open the wardrobe door. The window looked like it was on its last legs and crashed down when we opened it. The curtains also weren't fixed on properly. The expel-air in the bathroom didn't work. I'm sorry to have to write this as the day we left the people in the breakfast room were fantastic as was the location. But paying 146 pounds for a room of that standard was not.
Room very comfortable
Stairs a bit steep
Fab location, fantastic view, great staff, very friendly. Decor a bit tired and dated but comfortable and bedding clean. Breakfast good.
Small room and bathroom. Bathroom needed a refurb.
Perfect everything

Good location overlooking the harbour. Great freshly cooked breakfast.
Our room was very small. Fine for an overnight stay though.
Fantastic views, lovely breakfast and very friendly staff & hosts…

Great location for the fishing harbour… and gorgeous evening sunshine. Great parking and lots of fish eateries close by.. lovely understated friendly property The room was cosy and we brought our dog who was very happy …
Nothing ..
Location was everything. Great breakfast. Very friendly. Lovely view over the Harbour. Nice parking space for a reasonable fee. A bit tight for our suv.
Lots of stairs. Our room wasn’t en-suite,so a recommendation would be to provide a couple of dressing gowns for the stomp across the landing. Room was small but sufficient.
Location, comfy bed
Sharp stairs
Perfect location and the best view over the harbour
Room was a bit small but we only stayed 1 night
Fantastic view of Brixham from the room.
Full English Breakfast was a bit minimal but very nice. Could have done with an extra sausage!
Easy to book last minute. Staff were very accomodating and welcoming, lady who serves breakfast was exceptionally lovely!
Hooks on the bathroom door
Steve was the perfect host! Friendly and just so lovely! Amazing location with views over the harbour. Breakfast was delicious. The dog even got a sausage!
Our room on the top floor was perfect for our needs but some may think it needs a little updating - it didn’t affect our stay!
