The constant traffic noise ranged from heavily laden trucks to motorcycles which makes it impossible to sleep and is unsuitable for children. When we signed in through Booking.com we indicated we might have a pet, on arriving, the Motel Compendium however states pets are not welcome. The bedding was outdated, meaning the blankets were old woollen types and folded in half. The electric blankets did not work.

Reviewed Feb 25, 2026We enjoyed our stay at Tuki Tuki. The staff were excellent, the room was very clean and the kitchenette was well equipped. The only drawback was the motel is very close to the main, very busy, high traffic road so noise was an issue for us. Our room was at ground level and in front. Otherwise this motel is great.
There’s really nothing that the motel owners can do about the location of the motel and the busy, high traffic road, noisy main road. There is already a noise reducing hedge along the front of the motel’s property but it really doesn’t reduce the noise much.

Reviewed Jan 27, 2026The place blew us away .... it was lovely. We had unit 5 which was on the ground floor with parking at the door, and it was huge. Fully equipped kitchen and accommodation, including a patio at the back. Immaculate and spacious and we loved it. Quite unexpected for a small town. LOVED IT !! There are a couple of supermarkets, gas stations and an excellent Indian restaurant all nearby too.
It is HIGHLY recommended
