Reviewed Aug 2, 2026Central location with good parking - free secure parking for bicycles. Our twin room looked newly decorated and was extremely good value. Butty Bach was on tap in the bar, thankfully, as there was surprisingly little choice of real ales in Machynlleth. My friend didn't want a cooked breakfast so we ate nearby, which was no problem. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
Room at the front of the hotel gets a little noise from the town clock during the night, although my friend didn't hear it at all!

The village clock is right outside, and if you are a light sleeper it may be an issue as it rings every 15 minutes all night.

Reviewed May 13, 2026We recently visited the pub as we were staying elsewhere just outside of Mach. We were left down by a previous place, and decided to give the food a try here. We were a group of 7, celebrating a 50th birthday. Whilst we did not pre book, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and moved some tables to ensure we could sit together and have a good time. All of the food was incredible, and there was a good range to suit all of our tastes, including a child. It seemed very reasonably priced for the quantity and quality of food and the high level of service we received. We have already spoken about coming back to Mach, and even thought about getting the train solely to visit the hotel again.

It’s set in some stunning scenery and also good for visiting other interesting Welsh places like Aberdovey and Aberystwyth. Michelle and her team were very friendly and helpful. Our room was bright, clean and comfortable. The bar and restaurant have a good community buzz and the food was very hearty. Thanks very much!

Didn’t have breakfast here but had tea and the portions were HUGE, good food and very reasonable prices. Rooms had tea and coffee facilities and were very clean and comfy. We got talking to a member of staff Saturday night last off and she was really pleasant and friendly, as were the staff earlier in the night that took our order. Pub was nice and busy without being a rowdy atmosphere. Little snug infront of the fire was a bonus. Shower nice and warm.

We had a coronation chicken sandwich with chips for lunch which was lovely. The bed was comfy and we slept brilliantly. This hotel had everything you need and I think is used by walkers, bikers and cyclists. It’s great. The staff deserve a mention as they were great and very accommodating!

I had an evening meal too, which again was great value and very enjoyable. Nice big accessible car park made things so much easier. Check in very quick. Perfect location for a long weekend - near Dyfi Osprey project and RSPB Ynys Hir - which we were there to visit.
Nothing. It was very good. I would recommend to anyone and look forward to staying there again some day. Lovely member of staff on the Saturday morning who took my breakfast order deserves a shout out.

Reviewed Jan 17, 2026Right, so i came here for a Sunday lunch, I was desperate for a steamy pint of Carling, as per expected Sundays are busy, never-mind, I wandered around until it settled down. Then I ordered a Lasagne and Parsnip soup for my colleagues, as the food in question arrived, the Lasagne was COLD!!!! the Soup however was quite chunky and thick, Rebecca my beloved secretary was appalled by this, as she complained to Carol my Assistant. I walked over to the bar to have another pint (cheeky me), However because of the busyness of a Sunday i was there waiting, as a member of the staff were on their phone instead of taking orders as they are required. overall upset by this behaviour, I will not be returning here with Paul this summer, as we will be going golfing in Borth instead!!!

Breakfast in the morning was a treat once again. Will definitely be staying again when we visit Dyfi bike park next.

I ordered a hot beef and onion baguette, the beef was like old shoe leather probably from the weekend, but it wasn’t as tough as the baguette (inedible and unable to cut even after requesting a steak knife). Another one of our group ordered hunters chicken (very dry chicken). The other meals were barely passable. Will not eat there again. Not once were we asked if everything was ok. Poor service.
