Hopping Hare

From when we first arrived the service was exceptional. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Hadn't booked an evening meal but table and quick service allowed us to grab a meal even though late. Breakfast was freshly cooked and great quality. Taxi's were difficult to come by on our leaving morning but Hilary went out of her way to try and resolve our problem. Very friendly hotel with outstanding service. Thank you

The food was good and better than expected. Our problem with noise was sort of solved we had a meal made complimentary on check out, which saved the situation.

The location is not what I expected as it is in the middle of a residential estate. The bathroom was very dated, although described as a wet room, it was very disappointing. Pillows were lumpy. Room was next to 2 exit doors and was very noisy. Staff seem overstretched and not super happy to see customers. Poor selection of 0.0% beers.

Evening meal was very good, although the staff weren't very friendly.

Breakfast experience was not good. We arrived at our table at 8.25 am. Our order was taken about half an hour later at 9 am. No apology was given to us for the wait. We ordered full English and poached eggs on toast with extra toast. We received most of our order at 9.40, but not the extra toast. That never actually arrived. The poached eggs on toast were cold, but I was so hungry, I ate them anyway. Again no apology was given for the wait to us, but other tables were apologised to. It's almost like we didn't exist. Not a very nice experience at all.

The room downstairs is amazing, mum is 92 so unable to walk up the stairs so its so handy. The room is always clean and has everything needed for an overnight stay. The breakfast is really nice and lots of choice, and the dinner menu is great and tried several things and all ready tasty and cooked to perfection. We don't normally have a sweet but couldn't resist as all sounded lovely and we weren't disappointed. The staff were all so lovely, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

The room was excellent if a bit small but had the usual tea/coffee/chocolate and a kettle. The water to the shower and basin was red hot so be careful. The Food by the way was fantastic, we arrived on a Sunday afternoon and had a beef dinner. Possibly the best pub meal we've ever had. The desserts were great as well.

Only that our room was just next to the kitchen extractor ducting but that went off at about 9.30pm.

This property was so cute and comfy. It was also very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful

Nice friendly atmosphere, attentive staff, great food and a good breakfast, but you do have to ask for beans as they don't come as standard. Decent parking which suits motorcycles too.

Even though the food was lovely, it was pricey and the drinks are a bit over average price too.

The accomodation is good but some of the staff are racist.

I didnt feel welcome. My first impression was awful. I was kept waiting for minutes in the lobby for a manager, when he decided to turn up no apology. And to make matter worse? They doubted my payment. I paid £300 for two nights.

Not having sheets on the bed as an alternative to the duvet on a warm night was the only negative we experienced during our stay.

Exterior building.

No common area/lobby. It felt like they’ve turned what was a common area into part of the restaurant with more tables. No place to enjoy the area, building or setting with dinning.

Dinner and breakfast were lovely. We had room 10 at the top of the hotel. Granted our stay coincided with an extremely hot day it would have been a kindness if in early morning the windows had been opened and the fan turned on. When Tv was difficult to navigate we arrived at 4pm it was 33 degrees in the room and impossible to be in.

Great place! We’ve stayed here lots, as we often visit family nearby. Staff are always helpful and our stays are always comfortable.

Air Con would be nice in the intense heat but great that at least a decent fan was ready in the room to use.

Staff were lovely and welcoming, room was clean however very hot but a fan was provided.

Think the amount of money for a small bedroom stay was excessive.

The restaurant and rooms are very nicely decorated, it feels new and very clean. The parking is great and the area seemed quiet the few nights we were there which is what we wanted. The bedroom was small but the facilities and comfortable bed more than made up for it.

Air conditioning would be nice as it’s getting hotter in the summer - a large fan was already placed in the room and useful.

THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME WE HAVE STAYED IN THIS HOTEL. WE FOUND IT THE FIRST TIME BY ACCIDENT, AND RETURNED BECAUSE IT WAS SO GOOD AND ON OUR ROUT, FOOD, EVENING MEAL AND BREAKFAST VERY VERY GOOD. THE MANAGERESS WAS THE SAME LADY AND SPECIAL MENTION TO LITTLE LYN, WHO JUST CAN'T DO ENOUGH FOR YOU, NO MATTER HOW BUSY IT IS SHE ALWAYS HAS A SMILE AND GOOD WORD.

Hopping Hare never disappoints & last night for their 20th anniversary event was no exception. Delicious ‘food bowls’ ( we were offered refills but had to stop at double pudding) amazing magician & great singer. We had a fabulous time Thanks Fran& Tony Perry

Check-in, dinner, breakfast and service generally were all excellent and the room was comfortable apart from the temperature. The location is a little out of town but close to bus services, including to Franklins Gardens stadium.

The room was very warm, largely because the bathroom was hot and there was no means of controlling the temperature.

The breakfast was incredible- omelettes especially delicious. Morning waiter so obliging and friendly. Room and bathroom spacious and clean, with crisp white linen. Situated in a quiet housing area. Ample parking and free.

Had not appreciated when booked that staff leave after evening bar and excellent restaurant closes but it was not really a problem as all key codes worked.

Lovely room and facilities and the staff were very efficient and very helpful. Dining room was extremely pleasant and the food was some of the best we have had in a long while - congratulations to the chef! Would certainly visit again.

Would have been nice to have a had a lounge area and a lift to the top floors but in such a lovely old building lifts may not be practicable.

No power outlet by the bed (needed for c-pap machine, hearing aids charger and nighttime mobile phone access.) Room smelled misty and we had to open a window to air it out.

A great welcome on arrival. Excellent room. Food and drinks all of a very good quality.. Very clean, efficient and well presented hotel, bar and restaurant.

Strange remarks from breakfast server. Chose items from the full English breakfast list. 'So you are not having the full breakfast?'. It is usually quite usual to pick and choose. It saves on waste. A strange question.

Would gladly visit again. Very attentive and polite staff and delicious food. Well maintained and clean building. We had a lovely family dinner.

Thought the double room was a bit on the small side, not a lot of space around the bed. Says it's a pub but didn't give you the feel that you could spend all evening the bar, pricey wine as well.

Vriendelijke bediening, comfortabele bedden. Goed restaurant. Goed ontbijt. Stopcontacten hebben ook usb poorten zodat je niet met reisstekkers moet werken.

De noodverlichting op de kamer heeft een groene led, die heel erg fel schijnt. Zo fel dat ik er bijna een boek mee kon lezen. :-/ De ventilator op de badkamer stopt pas als je de deur dicht doet. Als je de ‘s nachts naar het toilet gaat, en de deur laat openstaan, dan blijft de ventilator draaien zodat je nog eens uit bed moet.

We were in room 20, it was very noisy when the clients above were in there room. Also it was noisy from the restaurant until everyone went home .

Staff really friendly room and building lovely. Even the cleaning staff were really nice. Everyone was very attentive and spoke to my 8 year old and made him feel included.

Stairs were a bit of a hike with the luggage

It's location. The beds are really comfortable. The breakfast was good as well as evening dinning.p

Most rooms are accessed by stairs. Only about one room on the ground floor.. Some rooms require 3-4 staircases to climb to access rooms. It's a little difficult if your elderly with a suitcase.

Great food and wonderful service. Hubbie said it was the best fish and chips he’s had and sticky toffee pudding was amazing. Really enjoyed it.

I have visited the restaurant at the Hopping Hare several times with friends and told my husband how wonderful the food was. We had occasion to visit as a couple and my husband was blown away by the flavours and presentation of the food. Our waitress, Lin, greeted us as though she was genuinely pleased to see us and made us feel very welcome as she always does when I go with my friends. The food is not cheap but worth every penny and is without debt the best food for miles around. It would be very hard to beat it.

In general we liked it

The staff were over run the woman who checked us in was stressed, as was the bar lady, the gentleman in the morning at breakfast was brilliant calm and considerate.
