Republica 157 Guest House

The very best thing about this place is its uniqueness. If you wonder about the organisation of the flat, it looks like it was divided from a bigger one to two-three smaller ones. The other great things: windows with a look at the park, a comfortable bed, a gramophone, which is a nice touch, some cookies, water and Port wine to welcome the guests. Even the local soap was something we appreciated. The host was very accomodating even apart from that, attempting to go over what is a decent service. So even if you have to have a 15-minute walk to the centre-centre, we give it a 10, probably staying there again whenever we return.

What a find! Everything about República 157 was amazing . Huge room, comfortable bed and everything you could imagine that you may need on your trip - including a clothes steamer! The hosts also deserve a very special mention as the communication, friendliness and patience (when I struggled to use the keypad) was a highlight of my stay . If I return to Porto, I will definitely stay at this gorgeous residence again . Thank you Ines ❤️🍷

The apartment is very spacious, perfectly clean and located not far from center. The bed was extremly comfortable and I liked that with 2 set of curtains you can completely darken the day light. Nice touch from owner providing poto wine and daily fresh wather, so you don't have to hussle about that. The supermarket is just across the square, if you need groceries. The owners were very helpful and recponsive for the inquries.

As some people already mentioned the bathroom is quite small, gettung in and out of the shower can be problem for persons of bigger build. The appartment was overloking the courtyard and there is a construction site on that side, so it can be a bit noisy on working days. But they start at 08:20 which is just about when I naturaly wake up, so it was no problem for me (I was there at beginig of september 2026). The only significant drawback for me is that there was no stove to be able to prepare eggs for breakfast. I have limited diet with what I can eat, but since I was there for 3 days only, I managed with the alternatives that doesn't require cooking.

The size of the room was extremely pleasing. The location is excellent for walking around. The 1920 decor was so interesting.

The hotel room was excellent. Clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The kitchen and bathroom were equipped with everything necessary which made my the stay feel even more comfortable. Inés was very polite and responded quickly to all my questions. The hotel is located in a nice, calm neighbourhood (still, there are many cafes and restaurants nearby) and it is only 10’ away from all the main attractions.

Beautifully design apartment. Has everything you need. We got fresh water every day and cofee pods.. Great location close to the center and quiet. The host was responsive and even asked if were ok as we did not request room cleaning. Definitely recommend it, and would stay there again.

Muy bonito y cómodo

Everything was great - location near a metro station, a spacious apartment, traditonal wooden floors and high ceilings, amenities and a very helpful hostess and a nice cleaning lady. A voluntary daily cleaning and services to fill water bottles every day added nice touches and left a good impression.

Arredamento di design, grande cura dell' ambiente. Ottima pulizia. Ampia stanza dotata di due bagni e una piccola, ma graziosa cucina. Letto comodo. Ottima posizione per girare la città. Consiglio di seguire l'itinerario segnato sulla mappa disegnata dalla stessa proprietaria.

Al check-in abbiamo avuto un piccolo inconveniente, prontamente risolto.

The overall appearance of the property, is lovely. After a full day of being a tourist is like coming home. Walking distance of 20 minutes to Porto center, with on the way a number of businesses where you can have breakfast

There is no view from terrace.

Second time at the same flat (I come to Porto every year) and, as before, I enjoyed my stay. It's quite comfortable, with enough area to walk in and spaces to put your things (good if you're staying a few days), a fridge and a few things for cooking and cleaning. Even watched a bit of the Roland Garros, sitting on the sofa! When something came up, staff was immediately helpful. Would easily return a third time!

Bring ear plugs and an eye mask - if you're a sensitive sleeper, the area can be a bit noisy with the cars passing and some light filtering on the sides of the dark curtains

Wha a beautiful little gem! Apart from its amazing design, the little terrace and the small features that make your stay so comfortable, it is truly the place to be. The host / management is reps I’ve, helpful and kind. The bed comfy, the hair dryer a plus, the coffee machine , Provision of coffee, tea, salt, paper, oil and vinegar such a welcoming note. We really enjoyed ourselves here. Thank you!

Good location, easy access to the airport and downtown city centre. Very nice setting room, tidy and with everything we need. Really appreciate the host providing a map with visit routes, places and restaurants recommendations, very helpful.

Die Unterkunft ist unglaublich schön und es viel mir schwer sie zu verlassen.

Besonders schön waren die großen Fenster zum Park, welche die Wohnung erhellten. Außerdem war die lange Vitrine extrem hübsch. Im Glasschrank stand sogar ein Plattenspieler mit lauter alter Schallplatten.

The apartment was well located, spacious and clean. It had everything we needed for a long weekend in Porto.

Great room and location. The staff was very accommodating. The welcome Port was a lovely touch.

Rooms were big, we stayed in 2 bedrooms. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable and had full kitchen. Ines (PM or owner) was very hospitable, helpful and responsive. She responds to our questions promptly. I highly recommend Republica 157. Again, thank you so much Ines!

Beautiful little apartment with comfy bed! Such sweet extras left by the owner: a cute little bottle of port to toast, water, coffee, a nap with recommendations. Truly kind attention to detail and very accommodating to early or late coming and going with a secure space for luggage offered. Thank you!

Absolutely brilliant. The accommodation was very spacious, very tastefully decorated, lots of facilities and everything was spotless and fresh. We even had two toilets. The bed was big, crispy clean and so comfortable. Lots of lovely thoughtful personal touches. Ines was really helpful and very welcoming. We could even get into our room 3 hours earlier, which was so helpful. She also arranged for our taxi to the airport. Ines own recommendations out together in a map were great. We highly recommend this place. The beautiful park opposite was just getting finished and once done will make this hotel even more desirable. If we come back to Porto we know the best place to stay 😊

Not that I didn't like, just Porto evolving hugely as a city so alot of renovation & construction going on ...be patient worth the interruptions...can't wait to see the future Porto most definitely have to go back ...

Ines è una host super, si è fatta in 4 per noi per accontentare un desiderio di mio figlio! Servizio Superlativo. L'appartamento è pulitissimo e molto particolare, con pezzi vintage ovunque. La zona è tranquilla, un po' decentrata ma direi meglio e comunque si arriva dappertutto a piedi. Ottima caffetteria sotto l appartamento, parcheggio sicuro a pochi passi e ristoranti in zona. Tutto più che perfetto! Grazie e a presto!

Quaint little bolt hole away from the bustle but close enough to everything for walkers. Good self-contained room, plenty of daily water and the lovely, helpful Ines our host. Little personal touches throughout our stay and a really helpful ‘Ines tourist map’.

Well located, spacious apartment that exceeded my expectations! The place is enormous and the bed was so comfortable with a nice firm mattress. There was no noise or disturbance and the building has a lift to assist with bringing luggage upstairs. The check in process was totally smooth and I couldn't fault this place! Would highly recommend.

Location was a short walk from metro and within walking distance of city centre and all major attractions. Supermarket and restaurants within easy walk. Host left us with her personalised tour guide map which was very thoughtful.

We stayed for three nights and had a wonderful experience. The apartment is very spacious—perfect for the three of us—and everything from the beds and linens to the toiletries was of superior quality and impeccably clean. We were also provided with plenty of drinking water, which was a thoughtful touch. The location is fantastic, conveniently close to everything we needed. During our stay, I unfortunately fell ill with food poisoning, but Ines went above and beyond to help—she arranged a doctor for me and even helped collect the medication. Her kindness and support made a huge difference and we’re incredibly grateful. The apartment also has a lift, which is a great bonus. Highly recommended!

The only downside was that the bathroom is quite small.

The room and place is very nice and very interesting. Very comfortable bed/mattress. The owner, Inis provides written as well as verbal recommendations if requested.

Its in a nice location...will be even better after they upgraded the park in front of the apartment... yet the walk to the centre is about 15 min walk uphill/downhill so you better plan your day.

Remarkable accommodation ~ with super thoughtfulness. Staying a total of 6 nights in Porto, so very lucky to hit on this state of the art guest house. Sleep on cloud feel king bed plus giant comfy sofa bed. Smart TV is now offered. Big fridge and full kitchenette. Everyday water in designer’s bottle plus capsule coffee, wait at your door. We love Porto more because of this unique place and of course, the generous hospitality from host. Room is spacious that I jog every morning before self prepared abundance breakfast. You won’t believe, right. Really unbelievable, have to come and check. And there are endless details in the room, check them all out. You find them in other reviews. I definitely will re~visit Porto if only, I successfully book this place. One minor issue, need to close all window and turn on air~con while sleeping if you are travelling from soundless city. Not noisy but next to road with random traffic. It’s a six star Guest House, thanks HOST 😊Hugs

Ein außergewöhnliches Hotel, mit ganz viele Liebe zum Detail! Kein Standardhotelzimmer. Ebenso die Kommunikation vor Ort, wenn auch über WhatsApp, war hervorragend. Sehr interessiert und hilfsbereit - ausdrücklich empfehlenswert!

Tons of space in a beautifully designed apartment! The location was a bit far from city center but the uphill walk was welcome and provided a quiet respite. Umbrellas, laundry, the balcony, and the wine were special touches and greatly appreciated. Spent one night in relaxing on the patio listening to live jazz from a neighboring business! Thank you for such a lovely stay!

The host is so nice. Always quick response to my questions.. Very thoughful . The air was not that good due to the wild fire nearby. She prepared us with a humidifier. Everything is nice. Highly recommend to this property.

Excellent accommodation, the best that we have until now, very good location.

It was so lovely, super clean and accomadating. They left us coffee pods and water everyday. The room is fully equipped with everything you could think of. The best thing was really the cleanliness. Close walk to the city center and the area has supermarkets/restaurants open and felt safe. Would absolutely recommend!!

Our stay exceed our expectations. Check in was simple, the stay itself was comfortable with a lot of attention to detail (personalised map). The place was much bigger than we thought it would be. For us, the location was perfect. A little out of the city centre but not too far. Well decorated and furnished.

Lugar magnífico. O apartamento é excelente, bem decorado, tem tudo que precisamos. Tudo é pensando para o conforto dos hóspedes. A cama é muito boa e as toalhas de banho são muito macias e cheirosas. Adorei minha estadia!

I liked the style of the accomodation very much. The location was fantastic, close to the Metro and supermarket. The only thing we didn’t like was the bathroom noise at 1 o’clock in the night of the neighbours.

Very nice apartment in walking distance to City Center.

The apartment has a very small bathroom (and a separate small room with a toilet). There are only 4 hangers for towels (2 in the bathroom above the toilet and 2 outside the bathroom). If you are a party of three this is not enough for your 6 towels, which are not changed during a multi-day stay.
