Reviewed Sep 12, 2026Perfect! Amazing experience. The room was incredible, with tatami, paper doors and windows, full of details. But is a ryokan, so the best is the onsen, very clean and well-frequented. Since they accept users from outside the hotel, you're sharing the tanks with local Japanese and not just tourists, which elevates the experience. The dinner at the hotel is also excellent.
Perhaps the location is a bit far from the center.

Reviewed Sep 8, 2026Promete lo que cumple, es un ryokan con sus onsen, así cómo su cuarto tradicional japonés, dónde tienes los futones para dormir. Está bien colocado y con buen transporte para moverte a las distintas zonas de Kyoto y el personal es muy amable.
No es una crítica, es una advertencia, si no estás acostumbrado, dormir en un futón puede no ser lo más cómodo. Así cómo el desayuno, te ponen desayuno tradicional japonés, por lo que, si no estás acostumbrado puede no gustarte. No es el caso.

Au calme, chambre grandiose de tradition et le futon était prêt, tout à disposition, un petit déjeuner véritablement japonais, kimono fourni pour accéder à de superbes onsen (plusieurs pièces et même un sauna). On peut même y dîner et c'était délicieux jusqu'à se faire masser (massage à la japonaise tout habillé !).

La prima notte non ho dormito bene perché qualche maleducato aveva fumato con le sigarette swapo in stanza ed era rimasta la puzza … poi il giorno dopo hanno arieggiato meglio la stanza.

Pese a que la habitación estaba muy bien… MUCHÍSIMA CALOR!! No lo comentamos al personal porque solo estábamos una noche, pero el aire acondicionado parece que al llegar a cierta temperatura se apaga y no había forma de que volviera a hacer frío en la habitación

The location was a little out of the way if you are trying to see more of the tourist attractions the city has to offer, recommend getting around by UBER, but would not expect frequent visits back to your room and plan your itinerary accordingly.

Reviewed Aug 12, 2026Il ryokan di per sè è bellissimo e molto curato. Nella camera ci hanno fatto trovare il necessario per un thè in stile, e le vestaglie caratteristiche con cui girare per il ryokan. Siamo andati un po' in giro e al nostro ritorno abbiamo trovato la camera allestita per la notte, con i futon srotolati e preparati. L'accesso libero agli onsen è un plus fantastico. Abbiamo optato anche per la cena e la colazione, che a me personalmente sono piaciute abbastanza (non così ai miei figli :)) ma ovviamente è una questione di gusto. Carino il fatto di avere una stanza "riservata" per la cena. La posizione è abbastanza buona, poco distante da una fermata della linea della metropolitana e vicina ad alcune attrazioni. Si può cmq raggiungere anche a piedi direttamente dalla stazione centrale, volendo.
Come detto, abbiamo optato per la formula con cena e colazione, che onestamente, seppur gradite, non mi hanno entusiasmato, e non per la tipologia di pasto (è più o meno quello che mi aspettavo); in giro ho mangiato meglio.

Reviewed Aug 2, 2026Deze accommodatie heeft vele faciliteiten, en geeft je een Japanse ervaring. Het is er erg schoon. De kamer werd elke dag schoongemaakt, voorzien van schoon beddengoed en nieuwe schone handdoeken en yakuta.
Het Japans ontbijt is goed en is een leuke ervaring, maar was voor ons misschien toch iets te veel uit onze comfortzone om alle 7 dagen te doen. (Als Nederlanders zijn we een boterham met kaas gewend.)

Reviewed Aug 2, 2026朝食が美味しかったです。二泊しましたが、二日目は違うメニューで良かったです。お風呂も内風呂、露天風呂ともに良かったです。季節のお風呂はマンゴとパッションフルーツで香りが良かったです。最寄り駅の丹波口駅付近には、大きなスーパー、ドラッグストア（夜遅くまでやっている）、ラーメン屋、スシローなど商業施設がたくさんあり便利でした。丹波口駅周辺からバスや電車に乗って観光するには良い場所です。
京都駅から歩くと結構距離があります。JRで京都駅から2駅先の丹波口駅からは歩ける距離でした。

Reviewed Jul 24, 2026The hotel was absolutely wonderful. Sleek, clean interior and incredibly helpful staff. Our room was excellent, the tatami well-kept and our bedding very comfortable. The yukata and slippers were nice too. The shower room was a little small, but had both a showerhead + stool and a bathtub which was great. We went to the onsen every night and enjoyed it very much. Both the wood and stone options were delightful, and there was an excellent range of baths available (sauna, regular, open-air, cold plunge). There was also a coin laundry room available that we took full advantage of. The dinner was incredible as well. My party consisted of pescatarians and vegetarians and the restaurant was dutiful in accommodating us. The traditional food was excellent and the sake was strong! The spa treatments were great too. Additionally, there were some excellent restaurants nearby that you can't find online. A great bakery, and a Michelin starred ramen place!
The location was a bit far from the closest bus or train stations, but nothing that was too inconvenient. The nearest train station is about a 7-10 minute walk away, as is the closest conbini.

We were having trouble with forwarding our luggage but they went out of their way to help us. The onsen was excellent and very clean. The food in their restaurant was also delicious. The rooms were very spacious, but I would say it may be more fitting for a group that is four or less.

Wer einmal erst die Waschung vollzieht, dann das heiße Bad genießt, in die 90 Grad Sauna geht und anschließend sich im kalten Becken abkühlt, fühlt sich wie neu geboren 🤩. Das Hotel hat auch ein sehr freundliches Personal und die Massage sollte man auch einmal gebucht haben, wenn man in dem Hotel ist. Das Zimmer wird täglich gereinigt und ist sehr sauber.

It was suitable for a family of 6 ranging in age from 11 to 76. The Onsen was a great extra that we enjoyed at the end of a busy day. I would recommend this for a more traditional stay. It was an 8-12 minute walk to public transport either the bus or train. The staff were really helpful and nice.

Rien de tel pour se détendre après de longues journées de visites à marcher. Le petit déjeuner traditionnel est un plus, une façon supplémentaire de s'immerger dans la culture japonaise. La chambre est calme et propre, et de petites douceurs vous attendent chaque jour. L'hôtel a organisé le transfert de nos valises jusqu'à notre hôtel suivant. Les services tels que massages, restaurant, onsen etc...
Si le petit déjeuner traditionnel est à mon sens un plus dans cet hôtel, je regrette qu'il ne soit pas proposé une alternative plus accessible pour les enfant.

Posizione un po’ lontana dal centro. La colazione è tipica giapponese, dove non ci sono alternative. Fa parte dell’esperienza del ryokan. In stanza e in alcune aree della struttura si può accedere scalzi o con delle pantofole non usa e getta messe a disposizione dalla struttura stessa. Siccome sono tutte uguali, è facile scambiare le proprie pantofole con quelle di altri ospiti.

Pierde algo de encanto que las vistas desde la ventana sean a un callejón. El personal es cordial, pero no te hacen sentirte bienvenido en algunas ocasiones. Igualmente ocurrió con el personal del restaurante. Supongo que la masificacion del turismo a llevado a esto. Hemos estado en alojamientos en Japon donde el trato ha sido mucho mejor, por eso no puedo dejar el 10. Una lástima porque el alojamiento es muy bueno.

Teníamos el desayuno incluido, pero no recuerdo que se indicara que fuera desayuno japonés. Al ser nuestra primera vez, nuestros hijos (11 y 13 años) no lo disfrutaron demasiado. Tampoco nosotros, en realidad. Pero quizás sea culpa nuestra, al no estar familiarizados con este tipo de desayunos (y mira que nosotros somos de buen comer!)

Reviewed Jun 21, 2026I really enjoyed staying at Yuno Yado Shoei. I chose this ryokan to experience traditional Japanese hospitality at an affordable price. I especially enjoyed the dinner and breakfast. The dining experience felt very private, as the meals were served in a private room/area reserved just for our family. I also loved the public bath, especially the outdoor hot tub. It was beautiful, relaxing, and very clean. Overall, it was a very special experience for my family, especially for my children. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan during our trip to Kyoto.
Of course, I knew that the room would have tatami flooring with futon bedding instead of beds. However, I was expecting a little more furniture, such as a table with more comfortable seating. There was a small table with two chairs, but it was not enough for the four of us. With no beds and very little furniture, the room felt a bit uncomfortable at times. Also, the bathroom in our room could be upgraded. The shower, toilet, and vanity all functioned well, but they were crammed into a very small space. The toilet could be separated from the rest of the bathroom, as it is in many other hotels in Japan.

If you're planning to do laundry during your stay, I would recommend using a nearby laundrette rather than relying on the hotel's facilities. There is only one washing machine and one dryer available for guests, and they were consistently in use throughout my stay. As a result, I ended up using a local laundrette instead. I also booked the dinner option, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The meal was well prepared and a great part of the experience. However, it would have been helpful to receive some information beforehand about what the dinner included. One thing to be aware of is that the check-out time is earlier than at most other hotels I stayed at during my trip to Japan, which may be inconvenient for some people.

Reviewed Jun 19, 2026The location is a little further out from Kyoto main streets which is nice if you're looking for a more relaxed stay (which we were!) There are good restaurants in the area and closest convenience store is about 10 min walk away, as well as closest train station. Staff were very friendly, hot baths were lovely and men and women's swapped each day so you can experience both (team rock!) The café was very nice to relax and read in and they had good options for soft drinks and beers.
The breakfast was so filling I felt bad not being able to eat it all in the morning, an option for a smaller portion would be nice! The flavour was straight forward and after three days was maybe a little similar.

Reviewed Jun 17, 2026Abbiamo trascorso alcuni giorni in questo ryokan e l’esperienza è stata davvero speciale. La struttura è semplice, ma proprio per questo autentica. Le camere tradizionali giapponesi sono meravigliose, molto spaziose e dotate di un grande armadio che ci ha permesso di sistemare comodamente tutti i bagagli e vivere la stanza senza alcun problema. Per chi, come me, è cresciuto negli anni ’80 guardando anime giapponesi e, più tardi, i film dello Studio Ghibli, soggiornare qui è stato quasi come entrare in quei mondi immaginati per anni. C’è qualcosa di poetico nel dormire su un futon, camminare sui tatami e vivere gli spazi essenziali e armoniosi di una vera stanza giapponese. Una sera abbiamo persino cenato in camera con un pasto acquistato al kombini: seduti sui cuscini attorno al classico tavolino basso, sul tatami, ci siamo sentiti parte di una scena di un film giapponese 😄 L’onsen è stato uno dei momenti più belli del soggiorno. È un’esperienza che ti fa sentire davvero in Giappone, un rituale di calma e benessere che permette di entrare in contatto con la quotidianità del Paese. Mi ha ricordato le atmosfere di Perfect Days, un film che amo moltissimo, e in particolare il rapporto semplice e autentico con il momento del bagno e della cura di sé. Anche mia figlia di 8 anni se n’è innamorata e non vedeva l’ora di tornarci ogni sera. Il personale è sempre stato estremamente gentile, disponibile e attento. La struttura è pulita e ben tenuta, e dispone anche di un ottimo ristorante dove abbiamo cenato una sera con piacere. Un dettaglio che abbiamo apprezzato molto è la possibilità di vivere pienamente l’esperienza del ryokan: vengono forniti yukata e ciabatte da utilizzare all’interno della struttura e per raggiungere l’onsen (per i bambini è sufficiente chiedere la taglia corretta alla reception). La zona è leggermente defilata rispetto ai luoghi più turistici, ma proprio per questo tranquilla e autentica.
L’unico aspetto che personalmente mi sento di segnalare riguarda la colazione tradizionale giapponese. Si percepisce chiaramente che è di ottima qualità e preparata con grande cura. Viene servita nel bellissimo ristorante del ryokan e si consuma indossando lo yukata, rendendo l’esperienza molto autentica e suggestiva. Detto questo, per noi italiani è stata un po’ estrema 😅. Abbiamo apprezzato molto il salmone grigliato, che era davvero eccellente, ma ci siamo resi conto che al mattino abbiamo bisogno di sapori e profumi diversi, semplicemente per abitudine. Pur amando viaggiare e scoprire le usanze locali, a un viaggiatore italiano consiglierei di valutare se prenotare o meno la colazione tradizionale. Nel nostro caso abbiamo preferito farci rimborsare le colazioni e utilizzare il credito per una cena nel ryokan, scelta che si è rivelata perfetta, perché a 5-10 minuti a piedi dalla struttura ci sono diverse ottime alternative per colazioni sia dolci sia salate, molto comode da raggiungere e davvero eccellenti.
