Hostal Río de Castro Barcelona

very good

Good location

Hotel had an excelente location, a bit loud at night but the comfy beds made up for it

The hostel was clean and felt fresh. The staff was super friendly and really sweet. One problem was the communication before the trip, it took long for them to answer on the hotels app and email. However, they did answer pretty quick on whatsapp, so would definitely recommend whatsapp.

Staff very nice

The Air-conditiong had a problem. the room was so small.

Rent och funktionellt. Bra läge.

Noisy road near by, but a good location and good stuff here

Buenas relación calidad precio.

Great location and nice staff. Clean room. Thin walls and slow response when trying to reach the hotel through the Hotels.com app messenger. Other than that it was great.

It was great and I would definitely stay here again ! The area around it is a little more urban and it looks kinda sketchy on the outside, but the inside is fantastic for the price !

Solid hostel experience everything's worked well the staff was polite and helpful definitely recommended.

Very Clean, friendly staff. Room and bathroom were small, no elevators in property. We had to stay a night to fly next day. Use some cleaning product with strong scent which can aggravate anyone’s breathing issue

Buenas atención del personal, buena limpieza, buena ubicación.

Friendly staff & very clean room - cleaner then spain average. Over all a good experience, but the mattress was pretty bad! (Foam-mattress)

Todo perfecto.

super!

Havlu yenileme iki gunde bir yapilmaktadir.. hergun yenisinin konmasini beklerdim

The breakfast can be more than just hot water for tea

Excelente localização, funcionários mto receptivos.

Sauber und sehr nette Angestellte. Liegt an einer Hauptstraße.

Wonderful stay at the Hostal😊! Staff are warm and friendly and location is a minute away from the Tube station, so well connected. The Hostal is facing a busy street, so very safe even at night, however it gets noisy with people walking and talking on the roads throughout the night. The rooms are clean and air conditioning works well, bathrooms are spacious and room service is available. The only problem we had was two 300ml bottles provided for our 3 night stay. There is a water dispenser in the common area, but only for immediate consumption, we cannot refill our bottles when we head out to explore Barcelona. Overall a great stay at a decent price!!

Doors were closing loudly

Muy buen servicio al cliente.

I enjoyed my time at this hostal. Friendly and helpful reception, spotlessly clean room and bathroom, comfortable bed, no street noise and effective air conditioning. The location was great for exploring Barcelona - close to metro and bus stops.

Very basic hotel, with ac hardly working which is a must for Barcelona in the summer

Staff was available at all times during my stay. The property was very clean and the room was very comfortable. The metro was right across the street and it was easy to get around from the property.

Posizione molto comoda, personale disponibile e gentile. Considerato il prezzo mi sento di consigliarla

Un hostal, la ubicación esta muy bien.

A cheap place to stay, it was clean and the location was good. Walking distance to most sightseeing spots in the city, affordable restaurants around. Metro station was close too. The room was very basic, the front desk too. Room gave impression of being 30 years behind today. No elevator might be good to know. :)

Room was very small with no storage and seemed run down. Lots of street noise. Shelves in the closet didn’t seem strong enough to hold suitcases. Service was decent but not great.

We stayed for three nights at the hostal and overall we had a great time. It is located in a busy avenue, so yes it can be a little noisy. But I am a light sleeper and can assure you that I slept comfortably without any issues. If you are a light sleeper some ear plugs could help. The place was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were very nice and helpful and provided good recommendations. Would stay again when visiting Barcelona again.

Amazing property location. The doom was clean and people were very helpful and attentive. Recommend to anyone who want to come and be in a nice location.

It was a good location— especially using public transit. Friendly staff. Checkout was 11 am (pretty standard).

Great location. Room is brief in size yet clean and comfortable. Plenty of walkable dining, many taxis about.

Nice clean hotel in a very convenient location. Best price for basic lodging in Barcelona.

Great place for a short stay. Very clean, close to everything. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The beds were relatively comfortable. The choice of pillows was not that great, but that can be a personal preference.

Buena Ubicación No es tan cómodo

Good location with many good dining options

It was a small safe location and family friendly. Very clean and easy to walk around since everything is very accessible. There was a weird musty smell from the restroom when the ventilation was off. Overall, it was a nice, safe and clean place.

Staff was very helpful

The fact it is close to Poble Sec metro is a plus point. Having to lift a heavy bag up to first floor was not. There is no lift. I paid sales/City tax when I checked in. I was later told I had only paid for one person ( I had my son with me) I argued the point but with my limited Spanish and his limited English , it was a struggle. He got someone on the phone who demanded I pay 20 Euros now. I offered to sort it out following morning, but he kept demanding. This was 1030 at night after a day of travelling. So I threw the money down and went to bed. Room overlooked main street so was quite noisy and the curtain didn't do a good job with the light. I didn't mention the 20 euros as same man on reception when I went out. When I got back there was a lady. She called me over and gave me 20 euros and an apology The WiFi was good. There is a supermarket next door with poor reviews, so I gave that a miss. Round the corner is Jespac supermarket which looks small but is quite big inside. Would I stay at this place again? No chance !

Overall, good stay for 3 people. Very close to metro, and walking distance to many sights. Can store luggage at the reception, however reception staff do not speak English. Hot water was very inconsistent which meant we could not have a warm shower. Also the drain was partially blocked so the shower would flood unless the water pressure was very low. Room was noisy throughout stay, with noise coming from upstairs.

ok

Perfect location and friendliest staff!

The room was small but comfortable and very clean. The coffee in the lobby was a nice addition. The location was very good.

The room was tiny with one small window that opened on an air shaft. If there is no exterior window they should say so when booking. Also the television didn't work. Staff was very friendly.

It is well positioned to explore the city, close to public transport

Overall is good rating, but cleanliness could be improve. I saw some hair in yhe beddings befor ei evem start sleeping in the bed.

Nice people! Friendly service! Comfortable room. Quite convenient location next to Poble Sec Metro Station, near restaurants and many attractions.

Excellent location. Lots of local restaurants. There is a Street full of tapas bars almost right next to the hostel. Great place for what I paid. Able to walk to everything including train station, bus to airport, beach area, old quarter, even the castle up the hill.

Most untrustworthy place to book. Booked via hotel.com since January, the property cancelled the accommodation the day before I fly. Clearly overbooked as no rational reason for the cancellation. I'd advice to avoid to not get stressed.

Nice hotel 🙂

The room was small but very clean! Shower was hot and strong enough. Good place to visit sightseeing spots. Very reasonable price. Maybe minimum price for one room hostel in Barcelona. Negative points: the wall between next room was very thin. You can hear voices from next room. There was a strong smell of chlorine from the disinfection to prevent covid at the first day of my stay.

Great location, pocket friendly stay with supermarket just below the stay. The receptionist was really helpful even though she could not speak english fluent, she always found an amazing way to communicate with us. We had a train at 10 PM and checkout was 12 noon, they also allowed us to keep our luggage for free.

It was great value, clean, and great amenities

It is a nice, clean hostel right across from the metro. Exceptionally clean and safe. Having said that its no Ritz-Carlton. It was adequate for sleeping one night. I don't think I would have been happy staying here for a longer duration.

For what we paid the room was perfectly fine.good location to travel around the city.

Fairly basic room but acceptable and clean. It was nice to have tea/coffee/fridge/microwave facilities available for use. Its a very central location, right by tube and bus stop, which really is the only justification for the relatively high price. Staff were friendly and welcoming to us.

This property is really easy to access, well located and really clean. Room was as expected.

A hidden hotel, almost hard to find, but extremely well located a few steps away from a subway station that connects easily to anywhere in Barcelona. But as a consequence it is located on a busy street on the first (second for north americans) floor and as a consequence is quite noisy all night, forget sleeping with an open window, even when the air conditionning refuse to work and nobody at the reception can figure out how to make it work. A small common area is provided with some snacking options, but you have a choice of multiple delicious bakeries and cofee shops just outside, so why bother. The room (the exact same one as the picture) was clean, with a nice size bathroom, but not much space in the room itself. The bedding is extremely firm, and tranfer movement easily from one side of the bed to the other. Air conditionning, when working, is helpful to sleep during Barcelona nights. Be sure that you have the remote control when moving in. All that said the staff was always very helpful and we always managed to communicate in spite of their limited english, and my own limited spanish and absent catalan.

The fact that it's located literally across from a metro station makes it one of the best in town, cosidering the burden of having to drag luggage! Also, it's much more quiet than say the goth village and the noisy narrow passes, restaurants and pubs of the custom nightlife

Great location. Friendly and efficient check in, fresh soap and shampoo which was unnecessary. Room was clean

The location is just fabulous, you can spend the whole day sitting at the window

Friendly staff, clean room, great location.

Inexpensive . . . good value for the money. Convenient to metro stop.

Nice friendly staff. Room clean and tidy . Nice touch the day area with Tea and Coffee making also Fridge and Microwave. Excellent value for money !!!

A reasonably priced hotel with basic amenities. Well located just few feet from the metro station.

central location , found easily, helpful staff responses

The nice girl in the ”reception” is not to blame for anything in this review. Actually, me and my daughter felt sorry for her, has she had the unpleasant position to give this awful dump a face. We went for a weekend trip visiting my oldest daughter who lives in Barcelona. I choosed the hostel because it’s centrally located and we just needed a place for two nights sleep. That was a terrible mistake.... The rooms are just horrible, with outdated furniture and beds that should rise complaints from a soldier in field. The AC is probably from the early 80:s and the smell... I suppose, as it’s a wellknown problem i the damp and warm city of Barcelona, that the rooms are heavily under attack by black mold; hence the awful smell of cheap perfume in the room. Actually, I found out, was the smell coming from the AC so they had probably installed some chemical agent in the AC to cover up from the smell of black mold. I guess it’s damaging for your health to stay there. After 20 minutes I found a free room at a very good hotel in the neigbourhood. Whatever U do when going to Barcelona: never book a room at this dreadful so called Hostel!! But don’t blame the nice girl in the reception. She’s only doing her job...
