Great location.
I had trouble with the food.

Very good value for money. Huge kaiseki-style meals for both dinner and breakfast. Also, this hotel provides free access to the nearby Hotel Urashima onsen facilities, so do not miss it! Quite close to Kii-Katsuura station as well, easily walkable. The staff was also very friendly.
Nothing really.
The staff is so accommodating. The best thing is all guests have access to the onsens at Hotel Urashima, which I did right after checking in and settling in my room.
They don’t have non-smoking rooms.
The food, onsen and atmoshphere were very nice.
The floor mats to sleep on were uncomfortable.

Great service at great value. Access to Urashima was a big plus. Location on the water was fantastic. Rooms were nice and clean, and also a bit dated. Overall, very happy with Hotel Manseiro.
The service and staff were great and feels personal. Food is fantastic too.
Onsen is small.
Great food, staff and service.
Onsen was a bit small.
The incredible kaiseki dinner and breakfast. Absolutely delicious !! Free access to the cave onsens at Urashima. And fabulous location
Nothing
Sehr gute Lage am Hafen, in der Nähe vom Fischmarkt; Parkplatz gleich nebenan; sehr hilfsbereites Personal
onsen, food, free trip to 望归洞 onsen, the new ce staff. those were all worth value.
the room is old and small the air con & refrigerator were a bit noisy
The breakfast was Japanese very complete. It would be helpful if they had a little description of the food.
Super efficient staff. Great location. Breakfast was amazing. Comfortable room
All good. Nothing not to like
environment, cleanness
bathroom too small(toilet cover cannot lift up)
We stayed in an ocean view, Japanese-style room. We would have preferred a non-smoking room, but only smoking rooms were available—Iuckily there was not a smoke smell and it wasn't an issue at all. Location and view were great, walkable to the train station. There were plenty of ferries to the other hotel for the cave onsen. Breakfast was also delicious!
More non-smoking rooms would be ideal, so people don't need to worry about a smoke smell, would be ideal.
We liked the food, location & onsen (including Hotel Urashima)
About 5 mins walk to the Kii-katsuura Station. This traditional Japanese hotel is clean and the staffs are very helpful. They can communicate with very simple English. The breakfast is Japanese type and delicious. Customers can enjoy the cave onsen of another hotel (Hotel Urashima) for free.
free onzen;delicius breakfast inclusive;friendlyand helpful staff
Honestly, we booked Manseiro for their seafood. The Kaiseki dinner was the best we ever had (and we had many in Japan for last 2 decades) with super fresh and premium ingredients! We stayed 2 nights and the 2nd night’s dinner was even better than the 1st night! Very grateful for the detail attention given by our server (a senior lady) and the chef. Fantastic location, just 7min walk from Kii-Katsuura station, 5min walk to JF Katsuura port that host the largest tuna fish auction in Japan every morning, and a short ferry ride right from the front door to their sister hotel’s popular 2 cave onsens. This ryokan has very good and clean onsen facilities too, with much less crowd compared to their big sister hotel!
The clean western room appeared to be tired with dim lightings and no views (facing a wall). We would probably try the tatami room if we decided to return for their Kaiseki dinner.
Manseiro is a friendly house, located at the harbour and a just a short walk from the station. We had a lovely spacious japanese room. There is also an onsen. Dinner and breakfast were delicious.
Facility is very clean and the room was nice. I booked with dinner and breakfast, and both meals were exceptional. And the furo/onsen. The furo at property is small but nice, but the real deal is at the sister property Urashima, to which you need to take a ferry to get to. Incredible experience!
The schedule for the ferry to Urashima is somewhat limited; it was too late when I got there the first night to take the ferry and back, and it was a bit tight schedule to take a bath in the morning to make it back in time for breakfast. I made it work, and it wouldn't be that much of an issue if you're staying multiple nights- I only stayed one night under a tight itinerary so I did not get to use the onsen as much as I wanted to.
The traditional Japanese breakfast was included with the tariff and it was fabulous. Lots of little dishes beautifully presented on a tray. Included a thin slice of tuna (Katsuura is a tuna fishing port) which you grill on a small fire in a pot.
Not the hotel’s fault but the floating pontoon opposite was creaking noisily all night with the movement of the waves in the port.
Near the water Good breakfast Good laundry Cave onsen
Too small Chairs not comfortable
We had a nice nights stay at Manseiro. The staff were wonderful, welcoming and very helpful. The western style room overlooking the bay was convenient, clean and had a lovely view. The breakfast was marvelous. It was about a 7 min walk from the station.
Outstanding dinner
Very nice location on the harbor at 10 minutes walks from the train station Beautiful big bedroom. Excellent kaiseki dinner and breakfast.
Centrally located near the train station and fish market. The hotel may look aged but the service is top rate especially the ladies serving the meals. The hotel is very organised. It has a decent in house Onsen or you can request to use the cave onsen on the island. The Japanese dinner and breakfast were very very good !
A carpet in the western room looks aged but the tatami rooms were very clean
The dinner and breakfast was so beautifully prepared and presented. Even though I couldn't eat it all - I appreciated the effort that went into making these meals. Easy to travel to the cave onsens via the turtle boat. Super cute too.
Our room was large but had no view. It smelled of smoke.......we had to keep the windows open so that we could breathe. The room needs updating as it's a bit shabby looking.
Exceptional all around
The breakfast was amazing. The location an easy walk to everything. Staff very helpful and kind, very little English spoken. Stayed in a Japanese style room very comfortable and amazing view. Great being able to catch the ferry over to onsen.
Nothing
Convenient location Friendly staff and superb service
The room was quite dated and musty. Bathroom very camped.
All meals were superb. The room was well equipped and spotless.
Uninspiring location but perfectly adequate
The room is very large, the bed is a bit firm. Friendly and helpful staff. The Japanese breakfast is really good. It‘s located just opposite a ferry station and only a short walk from the station.
Lovely staff. So helpful and friendly. Meals brilliant.
Nil.
Great location near the Katsuura harbor. The Japanese room was large and comfortable. Unfortunately we could not make it for dinner, but the breakfast was beautiful and tasty. The hotel staff were very helpful.
Nothing in particular
Excellent location and some rooms would have an amazing view over the water. Staying here gives you access to the cave onsens at the sister hotel on the island and they were absolutely amazing. Magical experience and so glad we went. Staff at Manseiro were amazing and the breakfast was fabulous. Rooms are older style but I thought they were quite charming.
Nothing
Breakfast was fantastic and delicious, the menu changed daily so we were pleasantly surprised by this.
The ryokan is a little old but I think this is part of the appeal, as long as it is expected by guests.
The staff were incredibly kind and considerate, the bedroom spacious and we had a great view on the sea. We especially liked that the hotel provides us with access to the onsens at Urashima. The outdoor private onsen at the hotel was amazing as was the extensive delicious breakfast served in traditional Japanese style.
The hotel interior was dated and the bed wasn't very comfortable.
Very nice comfortable japanese style room. Balcony facing the sea. Clean. Good breakfast. Not too far from station (maybe 8 min walk, easy). It was wonderful to have free access to Urashima resort. Their hot sprigs were awesome (two are caves facing the sea. WONDERFUL) (you get there taking a free ferry in front of the hotel)
Dinner there was expensive ($50), but when we looked around for food we almost couldn't find a place open.
