Beautiful location and the room was clean.
Everything was great. No complaints.
We have stayed before and love the building and know that the rooms are small but maybe a bit more than a kettle and instant coffee would have been nice, like a Nespresso. We stayed 2 nights and would have appreciated bottled mineral water.
I have a dairy allergy but no dairy free stuff available like no plant milk no dairy free spread.
Bedroom
Corridors in the hotel didnt feel safe
Perfect location, lovely food, a lovely place to stay
Nothing really it was just perfect
Perfect location very friendly
Great
Everything
A wonderful location right on the harbour. Quaint historical building. Beautiful room with lovely bathroom and claw foot bath. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast options.
Limited evening menu for vegetarians, only one main option.
Exceptional setting, so much character due to the age of the building, very helpful staff.
Le lieu est magique. Situé au pied de la mer et le port l’hôtel est sur un site magnifique. Le personnel est très accueillant et agréable.
Excellent position, real character
A very old, quirky, unique building but requires a general refurbishment of the common areas
Room 2. Was excellent and clean Carpets in hallway could do with updating.
Lots of flies in restaurant. A fly catcher of some sort might help,?
Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable, quiet room, with a view of the bay.
We ordered packed lunches, but using ham hock, instead of ham, in a ham sandwich was a bit too messy and fatty.
Location. Charm. Food
Bathroom
It had history and character with a good location.
Only to be aware that room nine has a slipper bath that is very difficult to get in and out of if you are 5 foot or under or not very agile.
Amazing breakfast as always. Location is perfect for Lynmouth. Hotel accommodated our dog which was great. Overall a lovely nights stay and we will be back.
Where it was The lovely staff . it was clean . Lovely breakfast Dog friendly

The staff were excellent. Food was brilliant both our dinner in the evening and the morning breakfast.
Loved the room with a lovely bed and excellent bathroom.
Établissement hors du temps dans un cadre exceptionnel !
Great atmosphere in an historic setting. Excellent breakfast.
Absolutely stunning location with beautiful view of the harbour from the room. Breakfast was delicious - choose an option from the menu (e.g. Full English etc) with pastries and teas being self serve. Really lovely staff. Lots of character to the whole hotel and the room. The room had a wonderful bath. It was a fantastic stay.
Note that it is an older property and with it there are certain quirks (steep stairs, low ceilings, not totally accessible etc.) and some areas are in need or maintenance. I mentioned issues to the staff, they were really nice, changed the room and alerted the maintenance team. Really lovely hotel.
The hotel is is a great location, we really enjoyed our dinner, we both had the pork belly which was great, breakfast in the morning was also decent, glad they served real coffee (the place we stayed the night before only served instant). The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Disappointed we didn't book sooner to get a room with a bath.
Lekker,zeer lekker
Kamer mocht iets groter
Fascinating to stay in a hotel dating back to 1400's with a history of receiving some famous guests. Breakfast was excellent, staff very friendly and Lynmouth is an absolute gem of a location.
True history - Beautiful.
Stairs! But that’s just me!
Great breakfast in the morning , with the home made granola
Location Location! Quirkiness of beautiful old building. Breakfast was superb. Bed & bedding was very comfortable.
Carpets could do with a deep clean or change . Price of meals (though good food) was dear.
Perfect location, very quirky and pretty, great food and service
It was a little noisy, probably because of the age of the building
Right on the harbour, beautifully decorated room, great restaurant and bar, superb breakfast, staff lovely.
Not that it bothered me but it is an old 14th century building so there was a lot of steep stairs and narrow halls, I liked it but would be a problem for less able people.
Location is excellent 👌
Our standard double non sea view room (no 7) was a bit underwhelming and not as good as we were expecting from the website when we made our booking.
Fabulous staff and location Breakfast was amazing and dinner was fabulous too! We really loved our stay- a really friendly and homely vibe- we’d love to come back.
It’s a little noisy being above the pub at night (and the people in the next door room had a very loud fight- not the hotel’s fault!). Absolutely fine with ear plugs though- I still slept well and I’m a light sleeper so don’t be put off! Just bring some ear plugs if you are noise sensitive.
Location
Nothing
We enjoyed our stay at The Rising Sun. There was a small issue with our room, but the staff were very helpful and dealt with it quickly which we really appreciated. The food was very good overall, and the location is lovely too
Location, staff, clean and tidy.
Nothing
Extraordinary location / amazing food / splendid beer 😎
Great location, staff very friendly and very helpful. Excellent breakfast. We dined in the restaurant on both evenings of our stay food food was delicious. We had a seaview room which although directly above bar/restaurant was very quiet. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.
We travelled with our 2 dogs and thought the £15 per dog per night rather steep. Although it didn't affect us the stairs to the rooms are very steep and very narrow and maybe a problem with limited mobility.
Charming hotel in a great location
Staff could have come across a little friendlier, would have liked to see them smiling.
The food in the restaurant and at breakfast was excellent. Friendly service. The rooms were a good size & ours even had a small sea view.
No real shower just an attachment to the bath. We were aware of this prior to travel. It did make showering slightly difficult.
Location friendly staff & lovely bedrooms. Food was excellent as was breakfast.
The bar & landings can be a little dark & really needs a refresher. Been like this since we first came over 10 years ago. The lovely decor in the bedrooms highlights it & also that outside is fresh & bright.
Friendly staff, amazing food, very quirky accommodation
Some steep stairs, perhaps not good for people with poor mobility
Position, views and character
Acoustic insulation was poor. We could hear people in next room very clearly.
The Staff were absolutely fantastic all of them nothing is a problem to them . The room was comfortable and excellent value for money and the food was great too
Nothing to dislike it’s perfect
Lovely place
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! The cottage was absolutely beautiful and you can not beat the location. The food was also outstanding. I would recommend this property over anywhere else in Lynmouth.
It’s not necessarily a criticism but there was a slight odour of wet dog in the cottage, particularly on the sofa. I appreciate this is unavoidable though when dogs are allowed in the property.
Location, service and comfort of room.
The weather!!!
Lovely historic building. Staff friendly and helpful, room lovely and cosy with a good selection of hot drink options. Food was absolutely beautiful and location right by the harbour just perfect. Will definitely stay there again
Very friendly, excellent food, great views
Nothing
Charming hotel and pub with bags of character with comfortable bedrooms.Staff very pleasant.Had dinner and breakfast, both very enjoyable
Outside the Reception area lt is a little untidy however it looks like work in progress
Lovely staff and great food
Bit cold! Wish they’d lit the fire
Everything, great location, nice room.
Nothing to complain about
Exception location . Very old hotel full of character . We had a great room with a bath . Food was good as was breakfast and staff lovely and accommodating
Lovely breakfast, friendly staff, quaint hotel, comfy bed, lovely clean sheets and towels, super view, amazing location.
Cramped dining room, expensive small mediocre desserts, no proper shower in bedroom or extractor fan, thin walls between bedrooms, bedroom was very small.
Wonderful staff, excellent location, good food. Really cute.
Our 3rd Twixmas stay at the beautiful Rising Sun. Beautiful location, lovely 14th century inn with amazing h food and hospitable staff.
Friendly staff, cosy room, tranquil location, good area for walking, dog friendly
Always great, excellent new manager very welcoming and good quality food
The room was spotless, it was cosy, had everything we needed, we didn't have breakfast as we left early because I wasn't well, which we both were bitterly disappointed, Lynmouth is a beautiful place
Everything was exceptional
The village and walks
Great location. Friendly staff
Nothing
We received a friendly welcome. We had dinner in the pub. The food was tasty and cooked to perfection mmm . The room had a comfortable double bed with an ensuite bathroom. There was tea and coffee making equipment in the room. There was a view of the estuary and sea although the bedroom window was at floor level. The morning breakfast was included in the price. There was a choice of breakfast continental and cooked. The staff were friendly and welcoming at all times.
It might have been difficult to park in the summer season.
excellent hotel/pub to stay on the seafront - ample on street parking plus two car parks not far away (one with car chargers) Wxcellent froom in the restaurant and a great breakfast
nothing - but the stairs up to the rooms are narrow and a little steep - the staff did take our bags up for us - excellent!
Exellent choice food was nice but warm /cold at breakfast
Room could have been bigger but understand its a old property with character very clean and cosy food could have been hotter breakfasts were nice but on the verge of cold
View from the room was wonderful - right over the harbour. Our room was extremely comfortable and despite being over the bar, we heard very little noise. DInner and breakfast were really excellent and so much better than anticipated.
Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The food was outstanding. The view over the harbour was really lovely. The building itself was quirky - just mind your head!
There wasn't really anything to complain about.
Beautiful location, amazing sea view, friendly staff. Really worth visiting.
The food is not as it was, breakfast was " just enough " to get you going.
Génial, personnel très sympa, chambres confortables, très bien situé, très bonne ambiance
Rien
Location was good, room comfortable but a little cramped. Bathroom good, recently updated I guess.
