Well kept and clean. Had everything we needed. We stayed in the family cottage which was compact but nice and pleasant. Lovely reception staff which gave us thorough and useful information and ideas.
I LOVED this little bungalow! Cute kitchen with everything needed to stay in and cook, comfy bed, nice size bathroom. I super loved that the hostess asked me to please check in with her as I left to hike and when I returned so she knew I was safe. As a solo traveler, that meant a whole lot to me and my family back home!
Andrea nos recepcionó muy bien!
We loved staying in the cabin. It has a full kitchen, s lovely place to eat with a view to the mountains and a good bed upstairs. The staff is really nice and helpful, and the location is great for the diffenrent trekking routes. We also really liked, that they brought the breakfast for next morning when houskeeping, so we could eat whenever we wanted.
We stayed in the family bungalow and it was great! The bungalow had everything you would need for a comfortable stay and the breakfast delivered each day was perfect. The location is super close to trails and restaurants and the hotel staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I’d recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in El Chalten.
Muy bien, muy amables en recepción y muy limpio el lugar aunque las habitaciones algo pequeñas
Hotel novo, muito limpo, com boa internet e bom café da manhã. Cama confortável. Chuveiro ótimo. Tudo que se precisa em chalten
Very clean, quiet and comfortable property with a great staff. Breakfast was good and it was easy to walk to anywhere in town you would like to go.
Hotel legal, bem localizado e limpo. Gostei. Quarto grande.
Good location
Great place to stay in El Chalten.
perfect place to stay for trekking
We stayed in a cabin and it was nice. We had some bugs and there were some issues with the breakfast, the milk was spoiled and there was a hair in the yogurt. But the staff was excellent and very helpful.
Great stay, close to trailhead. Receptionists were very helpful and gave us a lot of good information. The bed is a bit soft but the hotel is clean, and staff is super nice. Breakfast is great.
The cabin was full of little bugs. They hot water was out when we wanted to shower at night, and the heater had to be reset. and while we booked our room with breakfast included, we couldn't go to the buffet. They had stuff in our room that we had to basically prepare ourselves, had to get eggs and cook it ourselves and then wash the dishes. Not really what we expected. Over all, there are better options in the area for the price.
Staff was awesome (helpful, friendly and very accommodating to any needs); we had a late departure, so they secured our luggage and had a nice detached space that was nice to have access to after our check out. Very convenient location in the middle of town one street off the main road.
All good.
La vista el los cuartos
Great place to stay in El chalten, close to all the trails and very friendly stuff.
Amazing location, clean rooms and very friendly staff. We will be back
Cozy place to stay at with breakfast provided in the room every morning. Staff is friendly and location is close to restaurants and trails.
overall it is good. good breakfast but small bed size.
Lovely comfortable stay in a small Hotel with really nice breakfast and always quiet. Location excellent, just off St. Martin with it's restaurant's and bars.
Clean room and very friendly service. However the twin beds were small.
Had a great stay at Posada cabanas, room and hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful with any hiking/E Chalten questions. Would recommend.
Great location, within minutes of restaurants and shops and trailheads. Staff are wonderful and very helpful
I had two separate reservations here and used all the characters in my first review. I had a few things to add- The staff at the desk were very good. Max in particular took time to explain everything we needed to know about hikes, restaurants, etc. In my first review I noted that at this price I expected to be comfortable. The mattress in our room was old or poor quality, and I had the worst 4 nights sleep in our entire first month in Argentina. Under the front door, you could see daylight, so it was like a bug highway. As I noted in my other review, due to the awkward and inefficient layout of the room, my husband’s suitcase had to stay on the floor at the front door. Every day I was looking at the bugs trying to be sure none were bedbugs. The room was really warm and stuffy, and even on a day with horrible winds, we had to keep the windows opened a little to have some air circulation. When the wind is bad in El Chalten- it is without mercy. Another reason for a terrible night sleep. The bungalows were built into the side of another building, and we heard every footstep in the unit above/adjacent to us. I left really surprised that this place was rated as highly as it was- in many dozens of bookings I’ve made on Hotels.com, there are very few where expectations based on other reviews and reality were so different.
We stayed here four nights total. It was not horrible but definitely not a place I would stay again for the price. When we are paying over $200USD per night I hope to be comfortable. First issue, it is advertised as breakfast included and we read prior reviews that said how the breakfast was so good, they give you eggs, etc. Well, in our room there was a tiny kitchenette and they informed us on checkin that our breakfast was provided in the room. They provided very low quality food, no protein. Dry bread. The same sweet pasty every day. Some typical yogurt here very thin and full of sugar. So we had to go to the store to buy eggs and better food, and prepare it every day and then hand wash our dishes too. This took an extra 30 minutes of each morning where we thought we paid for a hotel that would provide a typical breakfast service. Nothing in our reservation indicated we were somehow not allowed to have the same breakfast as the prior good reviews implied. Second, the entry area to the bungalows is not finished with a proper walkway. It is a mud path where you have to step over wooden pallets carrying heavy bags. Third, while the room was large, the storage and layout was horrible where there was no room for a second suitcase except right at the front door. They have the little kitchen table attached to the wall, if it could be moved then there would be a way to make this more comfortable. There was no where in the large bathroom to store toiletry bags.
Very friendly staff who provide lots of trail information, but the rooms are very small, the beds are extremely small and the walls are paper thin, you hear everyone late at night and early in the morning. Maybe the cabins are better but our room was unpleasant for 4 nights
We loved our stay, Max was so kind and knowledgeable. We were so impressed with his hospitality. Our space was clean and comfortable. We see an amazing future for Max!! And we will definitely be back.
Run away they don’t answer if you have an issue They don’t consider you as guest but just want your money. We had an issue on the way to the hotel tried to call and write through hotel.com no answer and still charged us for the room
We were greeted by the sweetest, and most friendly staff. We were provided a great breakfast spread in our room, and given advice for how to spend our day in town. Great bed, good space in the room, felt safe and comfortable here. Would highly recommend staying here!!!
Awesome
Great!
Wonderful staff, simple and clean, everything you need for a good stay in a stunning environment.
Beautiful property!! Sofia and Andrea were very helpful. One of the best accommodations we’ve stayed on our Chile/Argentina trip. I wish we had more days but we’ll definitely be back and stay here again. Breakfast was also great and they’ll give you eggs which was not common in most places in Patagonia. Our room was very spacious and has a big window.
We loved our one night stay here! It was so close to the trails, great restaurants and a quick walk to town. It was so peaceful and quiet! The best part was the staff - they were so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend staying here!
The soap was small. Need more hanger in the room
Simple accommodations, clean, modest breakfast. One complaint is the water spills out of the shower flooding the bathroom. An easy fix would be to add a shower curtain. Otherwise, we had a comfortable and pleasant stay. The person at checkin was very helpful orienting us, giving restaurant & trail recommendations
The staff are extremely nice and helpful in both planning activities for guests and addressing the guests' needs during their stay.
Beautiful! The owners are excellent people. Well maintenance and equipped.
Great service!
Andrea and the staff were so welcoming, friendly, informative and helpful! They made the stay so pleasant! I would highly recommend!
On a 15 day tour set up by Sayhueque, we stayed 2 nights & 3 days. The hotel is within a few blocks of most of the small town. The price is modest. It is very clean, modern, and with a very friendly, helpful staff. I would highly recommend it and stay again. We stayed in the main building.
Very friendly staff went out of their way to provide information and service. Facility was very clean and relatively new. Excellent location!
I stayed in Posada el Barranco for 3 nights and liked it very much. It’s cozy, quiet and well located. But most importantly, the receptionists, especially Andrea were so helpful and did everything to make my stay as pleasant as possible! 100% recommended
It is a good budget hotel, rooms are small, nice, but simply furnished. Bathroom & toilet room were even smaller, but OK all worked and was well maintained. BUT, the biggest problem however was the bed. If you’re are 2 adults and the bed is smaller than a queen size bed and you can’t even properly turn around unless you either want to lay on the person next to you or you fall out of the bed, then there is something seriously wrong with the bed. It’s a nice budget hotel, but honestly, the bed ruined the whole set up. It’s just no fun anymore when you hike every day but can’t sleep properly because the beds are too small and simply said rubbish
We were super comfortable here and the staff were extremely helpful and flexible. The town is small, but still this is a nice location and close to some of the best trailheads and our favorite restaurants. It was a nice place to rest after big days, and a nice place to kill time when the weather was too bad to go out. Highly recommend this spot.
The room was so very hot all night. The service desk make sure the heaters were turned off but there was only one small window for ventilation that did not open a lot and we couldn't sleep because the room was so stuffy. Terrible value for the money
Hotel is average - clean, staff friendly. A little out of town, but the town is small, so not really an issue. Rooms and beds are smallish. We went at the end of winter, so not services running. Breakfast is ok, no real complaints, but don't expect too much
Ideal location to start trekking routes. Excellent customer service by owner Dardo! Highly recommended!
We loved how independent we were. Nice property with all amenities you need.
We arrived pretty late, owner made sure to stay in contact with us so he could be there to check us in. The cabins were very charming, floor was a bit creaky, but no big deal. Breakfast (cereal, milk, yogurt, eggs, etc.) was delivered to our cabin each day, pretty fresh. Cabin was cleaned diligently, laundry service was great. All in all a pretty cozy place, would recommend.
Stayed here for a few nights while exploring the trails around Fitz Roy. This a great budget hotel within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and trails. They provide a modest buffet breakfast. The rooms are small, clean and comfortable.
Good location, easy parking and friendly staff. We booked one of the self catering apartments which gives some nice space and provided good kitchen ammeities.
This hotel was a Euro-like mid range hotel. The hospitality was lovely, the local information welcome and the staff helped us out in the afternoon, post hike and before our late bus departure by accommodating our need to linger (we enjoyed a few hours in the bbq/grill kitchen facility). Great to see the outdool chairs set out for sunset.
Nice little place to stay. We had one of the cabins that also had a kitchen that was stocked with coffee and the basics. Plenty of room in the cabin. Breakfast in the main building was simple but decent, Included eggs and a small variety of ham and cheese. Staff were very friendly. Decent location, ten minutes from the start of most trails.
Great location. Clean, good rooms and excellent helpful staff. Nice breakfasts, very filling and nutritious!
We stayed at four different places in El Chalten in between hiking trips and this was our most favorite place to stay! It’s great. The staff are excellent, rooms are fairly basic but so clean and modern, great shower and great location. Barranco has this separate BBQ area where you can cook up an Argentine BBQ and sit out on the lawn on lovely deck chairs (if the wind permits lol). What was most appreciated by us was the many times these lovely people minded our excess bags when we went out on multi day hiking trips. We would have stayed there every time we were in town if we had booked earlier. Thanks Barranco!
Helpful staff who have recommendations. Was able to check in early and leave my bag after check out so i could make the most of my time in this beautiful place
My travel agency booked me at Posada El Barranco for 2 nights while at El Chalten. It’s a nice complex (I was given a small cabin on my own with a kitchenette away from the main house). Great and friendly people running the place. Breakfast was good (toast, ham&cheese, egg, juice, milk, cereal “, fruit...)! Kitchenette was a huge bonus. Shower was good and hot. WiFi was working fine for me. Easy access to all trekking routes. It’s a bit of a walk from bus station with luggage so you need to arrange pick up, otherwise highly recommend.
A small hotel where you feel at home immediately. Very well located to go walking or trekking to the Fitzroy Mountains. Rooms are good and clean. Staff is friendly, breakfast could perhaps improve a bit.
We arrived in El Chalten not knowing that in the off season taxis don’t really operate but Dardo, one of the thoughtful owners of El Barranco was waiting at the bus station to welcome us - which we were extremely grateful for on a cold, wet and windy day. We stayed in one of the cabins two nights and it was warm, spacious, clean and the beds were comfortable. Dardo provides helpful advice on trekking in the national park and the accommodation is centrally located, being close to the start of many trials, a great pizza place and others bars, cafes and restaurants. We felt really well looked after by Dardo who even dropped us back at the bus station when we left.
We stayed here in January 2017 and we loved it. The apartments are perfect: clean, comfortable, spacious, warm. The location is perfect: it's very close to the hiking paths and to the restaurants and shops. The staff was very nice and lunch boxes were avilable at a good price. we were very happy of our choice.
My wife and I stayed here for three nights in October. Dardo, our host, and the manager/owner(?) of the establishment was wonderful! Our cabin was very very clean and had everything needed for us to cook in the unit and relax after our long days of hiking the trails. I highly recommend Posada El Barranco to budget minded travelers visiting El Chalten. The trail heads I might add are very conveniently located to the Posada. While the location of the Posada from the bus station is a bit of a walk with heavy backpacks/roller luggage, Dardo was on the look-out for us the afternoon we arrived, and he actually ran into us on the main street so he could lead us directly to his place (if I remember correctly he may have even picked us up in his car!). We had originally booked this specific Posada because we saw the common area and fireplace in the marketed photographs online/on AirBnB. Unfortunately when we arrived the main portion of the hotel was under renovation and it just wasn't feasible for us to take advantage of the common room/fireplace like we had originally envisioned. It also turned out that I think we were the only guests during this span of time (note: this isn't a bad thing, it just wasn't high season yet and the whole town was quiet). This is the only reason I am hesitant to give five stars to my rating. We had just really wanted to come home from long days of hiking to sit by a fire, meet and chat with other travelers, and enjoy some lovely Argentinian wine...oh well, maybe next time! ...that said, I otherwise feel very satisfied with our experience here and would definitely stay again if we ever make it to Patagonia on another occasion.
We bused in and walked from the bus station. It was very easy to find ....we had a small suitcase witch was good because the roads were rocky and dirt. It is close to the trail heads so we walked to them all. After staying in hotels for a month it was great to have a little cabin with a kitchen. We went to the local grocery store a bought food to eat in and packed our own lunches....when we arrived they actually had us booked for then next day but they had plenty of room being off season. The mattress was new and comfortable, the bedding clean with good pillows. They room was clean and the bathroom large with great hot water and pressure. The staff friendly and helpful. Yes we would stay again.....
Lovely little hut situated almost at the end of the town (El Chaltén) but really close to the begining of the trails to Laguna Torre or Laguna de Los Tres!!! The owner, Mr. Dardo, is an outstanding host. We arrived at around 9 p.m. from El Calafate in the bus that leaves at 6 p.m. and since the bus station is on the opposite side of town, Mr. Dardo (eventhough he did not have to) was waiting for us at the bus station. Really nice on his part, specially after traveling almost all day from Buenos Aires with heavy luggage and almost subzero temperatures. He drove us to the charming posada while advising us which of the two ("most famous") trails we should take, Laguna Torre or Laguna de Los Tres. Since we only had that night in El Chaltén and we were leaving next day back to El Calafate, he advised us to take the Laguna Torre trail since is shorter. I was eager to do the longer, more difficult trail to Laguna de Los Tres but Mr. Dardo sure was right. We did the shorter trail in 8 hours (doable in 6) but we took our time, enjoy the scenery, stopped many many times for pictures and did a one hour picnic next to the lagoon. Doing the other trail would have meant rushing to the end and getting back inmediately without enjoying the landscape. Sadly, I cannot compare the views from both trails but that day we had a wonderful sunny day and we were able to see both, Cerro Torre and Cerro Fitz Roy, but from this trail you get a better view from Cerro Torre (and I personally think, despite being smaller than Fitz Roy, that its needle shape is something unique and breathtaking). Mr. Dardo also gave us directions to the nearest supermarket and restaurant in case we needed to buy something for our hike next day or in case we felt hungry from the long trip. He also kindly showed me how to prepare mate using the "pot" that the kitchen was equipped with. Finally, he advised us what time we should leave next morning to be back in town on time for the bus departure. The hut was also equipped with a small table where we had some snacks, mate and malbec before going to bed. The bed and linens were comfortable and clean. By the way, my girlfriend is gluten-intolerant and Mr. Dardo was kind and carefully enough to look for gluten-free crakers for her for breakfast. I can not complain about the wifi/internet signal, had no problems with it. Next day, the staff of the posada kept our bags until we finished hiking. We chilled in the reception for an hour until we were picked up. Sadly, Mr. Dardo was not there anymore when we came back. I just wanted to thank him once again for such a warm reception and for being so kind during our short stay!!! ¡¡¡Gracias Señor Dardo por su amabilidad y hospitalidad. Realmente nos hizo sentir en casa!!! Luis y Bárbara.
After travelling around Argentina and Chile in dorms and refugios staying in the Cabana was luxury. Dardo, the host was absolutely lovely, the room was spotless and warm with a fab breakfast that we could help ourselves too (best cereal ever), TV, cooker, microwave and a bath (my first bath in months)- it was amazing. Great spot to start treks around El Chalten. Just some small things, Wi-Fi could have been better and the toilet door didn't close properly. Otherwise perfect.
