Courtyard by Marriott Xiamen Haicang

The hotel is a part of a Marriot Hotel complex with two hotels in the same building. The Marriot and the Courtyard Marriot. I arrived through the Marriot Hotel entrance which looks grand. This leaves a very good impression. The Courtyard Marriot entrance and reception is, well, very Courtyard Marriot. The rooms fine and comfortable, but the pillows are not as good as you'd get in a Marriot. My room had a lovely view over the bay. The hotels share the breakfast restaurant, which was very good but packed. There are restaurants just outside the hotel. Overall a good business hotel.

Whenever we asked them questions, they gave careless answers. When we asked one front desk staff member where to get a taxi, he pointed us to the wrong location, causing us to wait a long time to request a ride. Didi couldn’t even find our location. Even the invoice was issued incorrectly. I frequently travel to mainland China for business and have never encountered such an unprofessional front desk. It wasn’t just one person—out of the 3–4 front desk staff I dealt with, all had attitudes that showed no intention of helping guests solve problems. In addition, people were smoking in the elevators and no one managed the situation. Some of the towels in the hotel room were so old that they were fraying. Do these poor experiences justify the price? I have no confidence in Courtyard anymore. View the f the harbor was nice, hotel was clean and rooms well appointed. The breakfast was good and had various dishes for both Western and Eastern palates.

The air conditioning was in and out. At night even when adjusted for the lowest temperature, room was humid and I was sweating in bed, so sleep was often interrupted.

We stayed at Courtyard Xiamen Haicang our first and last night in China and the hotel allowed us to store our luggage with them while we travelled to a different province.

I liked the fact the staff went out of their way to show me to the nearest convenience store. They were friendly and accommodating. The room they offered me was also an upgrade with a seaview. The breakfast also offered a wide range of foods from the region.

AC plant turned off at night so woken in a pool of sweat about 3am..

The room is clean and spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast standard is not bad and there are lots of variety. The location of the hotel is located in a nice new area but are close to the subway.

The red sofa in the room. It doesn't go with the otherwise nice colour scheme. The millwork is worn out and an interior update/refurbishment is about due.

A kind hospitality and service mind of the staff named Mr. Herbert Liu. He possesses well English and very helpful. Other hotel staff is also good just it's not easy to communicate in English.

Location of the hotel. Nice view but a bit far from the shopping area.

Happy with the seaview

Location is very isolated, basically nothing nearby, no shopping, no restaurant. To go out to city central is a bit far. The cleaning service is poor. I found a used towel still in the bathroom when we first got our room. WIFI is weak.

The views of Haicang Bay and Xiamen island from a sea view room are great. Even in overcast weather, the views are atmospheric. The bed was very comfortable, as were the red chairs and the shower. My room was spotless. I had no problems checking in and checking out - the staff were both efficient and polite.

It would have been nice to have had some green tea or coffee in my room. I think this would have made my (very comfortable) stay even better.

False advertising! It is NOT on the beachfront. It’s in the business district. Long drive from beaches. Spent a lot in didi. Hotel staff refused to acknowledge or refund. Many cheaper options by the beach available. Only one staff member spoke English. Breakfast more like a holiday inn express breakfast. Holiday inn express would be better value 🤣

Hotel ignored my complaints. No offer for a partial refund. They said it’s fine because you can see a horrible looking Harbour from the window. This is the ‘sea view.’ Only one member of staff on desk at all times. Long waits. Hotenis like a 3 star holiday inn express but more expensive.

Staff made great efforts to help deal with a difficult situation. On this level, personal committment proved to be best moral support.

You (booking.com) did not respond to direct emails related to my stay. I am seriously disppointed in your communication and apparent lack of service attitude when needed. I also feel mocked by your question about the Island which was closed all the time without proper warning or explanation. Note that I had asked specifically prior to my trip.

Nice hotel, but is located in brand new area, not too much store arround

Nice new hotel. Services such housekeeping is very slow, staff lacks training and very few English speaking staff which make it very challenging if you need help or have an emergency and have to call for service.
