Yellow Sun Kampot

Unfortunately, my stay was disappointing. The staff were not welcoming or helpful. The room had a strong unpleasant smell, especially from the carpet, and it did not appear to be properly cleaned. The overall cleanliness and comfort were below my expectations.

Authentic and rustic, with lush greenery. Sunsets from the rooftop lounge are amazing. Happy hour cocktails and great Khmer and Western food. Scooter and bicycle hire were affordable, with the equipment in great condition. Staff members were fantastic - patient and responsive. Totally recommend, if you want to experience riverside life. Thank you Yellow Sun Kampot!

Mosquitoes (obviously) but they can be managed with the right repellent - I had Aeroguard Tropical strength.

Credo che questo sia l’ostello più bello nel quale io sia mai stata. Personale meraviglioso, ottimo cibo, bungalow stupendi. Ho passato un mese qui, ci ho lasciato il cuore. Sono sicura che un giorno tornerò. Nelle giornate calde si fa il bagno al fiume, si può fare kayak o rilassarsi sui divanetti e le amache. Alla sera ci si diverte con musica e cocktail. Ho anche avuto la possibilità di fare volontariato. Lo consiglierei a chiunque, preparatevi a lasciarci il cuore

The location is far from the city you need scooter but it’s near from the river so it’s really great The staff is really nice The food is cheap and good

Groovy vibe, really friendly & helpful staff

Whilst insects are to be expected at accom like this, we felt the situation was massively exacerbated by the gaps in the hut’s walls/roof, making it impossible once the sun had set to have any sort of light on in the hut to get ready for bed/chill, within seconds the hut was swarmed with mozzies. The double bed huts are also directly next to the bar/social area, with music playing til after 11pm. The fishing boat that’s docked outside the huts also leaves in the night & is extremely noisy. Between the 2 of us we got about 4 hours sleep combined. Really not ideal unless you’re a super heavy sleeper. We’d recommend only booking 1 night to see how it goes- we had to cut our losses and leave after 1 night

The rooms and toilet are very basic, people who are not used to camping may not be able to accept this, food is also just so so

Nous avons réservé 2 nuits dans un bungalow au bord de la rivière. Ce commentaire est donc ciblé sur ce type de logement. Je pense que les bungalows éloignés sont beaucoup mieux. C'était très bruyant, le bar est juste à côté, les bateaux passent dans la rivière toute la nuit également, la moustiquaire était trouée et vu la quantité de moustiques ça aurait été le minimum d'en avoir une de bonne qualité. Nous nous sommes fait éclater par les moustiques toute la nuit. Nous sommes donc parties après la première nuit qui a été une nuit blanche. Personne n'a essayé de comprendre pourquoi et évidement comme vous payer en arrivant la 2 ème nuit n'ai pas remboursée. Ne vous fiez pas aux notes ultra positives, ils offrent des cadeaux pour les avoir. 36$ pour 2 nuits, vous avez 100 fois mieux dans les alentours et à moitié prix. Je ne suis pas difficile, j'ai voyagé depuis 10 ans avec une 15ene de pays fait en stop. c'est la première fois que je laisse un commentaire négatif, n'allez pas dans les bungalows proche de la rivière, vous ne dormirez pas ...😊

Heel aangename plek om te verblijven in Kampot. Ik was in een zespersoonskamer voor alleen vrouwen en we waren maar met 2 wat herl aangenaam was. We hadden veel plaats. Er was ook een badkamer in onze kamer die klein was maar zeker goed was om mee rond te komen. Er was een een gemeenschappelijke badkamer en die was ook helemaal in orde. Je kan er ook zwemmen in de rivier en een kayak huren om een loop mee te doen. Raad ik zeker aan!

The hostel is located beautifully next to the river - where you can go swimming, kayaking and enjoying the sunset. They also serve food.

The only thing I didn't like so much was the dorm which is very simple and without a window.

Amazing !! Lovely staff, great food, simple but good beds, relaxing setting by the river, very helpful and chilled volunteers. Honestly, if you are looking for a chill vibe to socialise, it's as good as it can get 😊

It's basic. I loved it, but it might not be everyone's cup of tea so check pictures before booking to make sure your expectations are aligned.

Endroit calme à l'extérieur de la ville. Si vous cherchez de la tranquillité, c'est l'endroit ! Petit bar avec vue sur la rivière tranquille, une petite excursion en kayak dans la cathédrale verte pour 3$. L'équipe est très sympathique et attentionnée. La climatisation est très efficace dans le dortoir.

Il manque un endroit où mettre les sac dans la chambre ou à l'extérieur. Un peu trop petit pour 4. Si vous voulez être proche de la ville ne choisissez pas ça même Si en tuctuc ça va vite (10-15min).

Beautiful setting by the river. The reception/bar/ restaurant area has great atmosphere at night, sometimes with live music, mainly for a young crowd! There is a second little restaurant, that is very nice, serves good meals, friendly staff, with a lovely terrace by the river, very pleasant and chilled if prefer to be away from the lively ambiance.

The bungalow has a rustic style which is nice, but there were several large gaps, which left the interior exposed to the outside. This mainly in the bathroom. The main concern was that it it allowed insects or other small animals inside.

I have had the best 5 days at this hostel! The vibe is so wholesome. Shout out to Lemmy who was the best The kayaking around the Green Cathedral, sunset and the cutest dogs.

We loved staying here for the social space, location on the river and kayaks. It was one of the most memorial parts of our trip, even though we only stayed one night. The food was excellent and good value for money. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The dogs were great company too! The room was basic but had everything we needed, it opened onto the river which was a great view.

The room was warm with only a fan, and very basic, but overall provided value for money. You need to get a tuk tuk into town, but there was always someone waiting to take us and it's easy to get a Grab back.

No recomiendo a nadie alojarse en éste lugar, llevamos un mes viajando de mochileros por Camboya, y sin duda, ha sido el peor alojamiento en el que hemos estado. Lo único bueno fueron sus vistas desde el bar. Tienen música en el bar hasta tarde por la noche, aunque en sus normas ponga que a partir de las 23h no hagas ruido, ellos mantienen la música alta hasta más tarde. Nos fuimos a quejar, ya que al día siguiente madrugabamos, y encima de no hacerte caso, se reían de ti. No dormimos nada bien ninguna de las dos noches que estuvimos. La cama del bungalow no es nada cómoda, y está lleno de carcoma, del techo cae serrín de la madera en la cama. Cayendote encima mientras duermes, horrible. No volvería a quedarme aquí, ni se lo recomiendo a nadie.

The vibe here is amazing. Feels like home. Staff member are wonderful. The view is beautiful. The food is fabulous.

L’endroit est assez excentré. Première impression en arrivant : la zone d’entrée , là où le tuk tuk nous a déposées, ressemblait a une décharge sauvage. La terrasse donnant sur la rivière était impraticable: elle s’enfonçait dans l’eau. Notre petit bungalow semblait charmant au premier abord même s’il était sale. Seulement, on entendait tout : les autres clients, le Karaoke du bar, les coqs dans la nuit, le haut parleur avec les chants de la pagode voisine, les cigales (très sonores au Cambodge). Un cocktail détonnant qui traversait même mes boules quiès. Il y avait aussi une odeur de vase (ou de canalisation ?) dans notre bungalow. Les douches étaient vétustes et infestées de moustiques, quant à la nonchalance du staff de jeunes « volontaires «, elle frisait l’indifférence. Enfin, le scooter que nous avions loué sur place ne démarrait qu’une fois sur deux. Je ne dis pas qu’il ne faut pas aller dans cet hostel, juste, allez y en connaissance de cause. Pour 10 € la nuit, on peut parfois serrer les dents, je le sais bien. Nous, on a préféré partir pour aller dans un home Stay.

the hotel vibe is very friendly and chill. The place is nice and comfortable. There are bicycles and motorbikes available for rent. The lake view is amazing!

The hostel location is great if you want to just chill, but its a little far from the center. Dorms are okay but very basic (ok for the prize)

A little bit out of the way from Kampot, but you can get TukTuks for a couple of dollars into the town

Situé un peu à l'écart de la ville, dans un environnement très naturel, la vue sur la rivière est incroyable et la nourriture très bonne et accessible !

La propreté des espaces communs peut être améliorée. Réveil très très matinal (3/4h du matin) dû à la proximité des maisons du village collées aux bungalows.

I was staying at Yellow Sun Kampot for two days, about the property I like the nature view around the dormitory. And I feel more relaxed and nice. For inside the sitting area I enjoy being by the river. The staff are very welcome. I would like to recommend that new guests stay.

The light inside the room should be bright.

This place is wonderful, a little piece of paradise on earth. Everyone is so nice and welcoming that it feels like home. I loved that place so much that I applied as a volunteer for 3weeks. Thanks for everything 😍

Miejsce z mega fajnym klimatem, nie każdemu podejdzie, ale dla mnie super. Strefa wspólna urządzona w stylu będącym mieszanką hipisowskiego vibe’u z boho, bambusy, hamaczki, stoliki z palet, to wszystko z chillowa muzyka w tle, nad samą rzeką. Pieski i kotki w zestawie, rudzielec skradł moje serce, ale do zdjęć za pozowała jego biała, niebieskooka siostra. Genialne jest to, że część staffu to podróżnicy-wolontariusze, młoda ekipa, fajni, uśmiechnięci ludzie z całego świata, również dzięki temu bez problemu dogadasz się tutaj po angielsku, francusku, a akurat w trakcie naszego pobytu nawet i po polsku.

Brak ciepłej wody, więc mycie włosów jak dla mnie mocno utrudnione. Poza tym wszystko super 🥰

La meilleur expérience que nous avons eu au Cambodge. Le quai sur le fleuve ainsi que l’ambiance. Le personnel est très gentil.

L’emplacement au bord de la rivière est idéal pour se reposer ! Une super terrasse au bord de l’eau avec de nombreux espaces pour chiller. Le kayak a 3$ es vraiment un plus pour explorer les environs !

Le staff n’était absolument pas accueillant et ne m’a rien montré dans l’hostel. Ils ne m’ont proposé aucune activité et ne m’ont pas adressé la parole pendant mon séjour. J’ai même été accueilli par un simple «  vous voulez quoi ? » …

All of everything is good

For me this place is light and shadow. At first view I loved it. Directly at the river with a nice hang out area it looks very cozy. We had a bungalow with shared bathroom. They have a restuarant with very good prices, very good portions for the price and actually delicious. Also some non hotel guests came to have food and chill out.

Well the restaurant/ hang out area is not properly cleaned. One time we sat to a table which was not cleared and after an our it was still not cleared so I brought all classes cups and garbage to the counter. Also food is good, there was a living work in my food crouching and snacking. But the male volunteer working there handled the situation very very good! Plus point for him. On the mosquito net of our room was. A lot of poop of what ever animal, this is really not nice when moving in. Shower and toilet facilities partly broken. One evening the toilet smelled somehow cheesily bad. I came back and my whole feed had that awefull smeel. I needed two days to get that away, even after scrubbing the feet, my flip flops I threw away cause the smell didn't disappear. Sounds weird but that's how it was. It's a budget place, OK, but cleanlessness and clean food must me giving, no matter what price you pay, there can't me compromises.

A very good experience. Everything was very clean. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The staff was excellent and very friendly. I highly recommend it. Thank you, friends!
