Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The rooms were clean, comfortable and had a great view. The food was also excellent and the Aircon was easy to control
The restaurant area is less welcoming. The ceiling lights are a nice touch, but it would benefit from something to soften the echoes off the concrete walls.
Perfect place if you want to go to the safari park only 400 meter from entrance. Dinner Buffet was excellent 😋
We had a fantastic stay at Wilpattu Treehouse and really enjoyed our time here. The setting is wonderful, the staff were welcoming and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. It was also a great base for our Wilpattu safari. We were very well looked after throughout our stay and, aside from the issue with meal pricing, we would have come away feeling extremely positive about the whole experience.
Our only disappointment was the lack of transparency around food and drink prices. No menus or price lists were provided, and drinks and desserts were offered with each meal without any indication that they were additional charges. We were therefore surprised at checkout to find, for example, soft drinks charged at USD $4 and fruit salad with ice cream at USD $5.50, plus a 10% service charge. The food and service were excellent, but we would have made different choices had the prices been clear. Providing guests with a menu would easily resolve this and would have avoided a disappointing end to an otherwise fantastic stay.
Loved our stay at the Wilpattu Tree House. We had a fabulous tree house overlooking a paddy field, which was so comfortable and a great shower. Loved going to sleep to the sound of the wind in the trees. Everyone was so helpful and friendly and the food was tasty and plentiful. With only a 2 minute drive to the entrance to the national park, the team arranged a great safari for us and we were so lucky to see the Sri Lanka big 5. A definite highlight of our trip.
Great location and superb atmosphere, excellent food
Very little
Lovely treehouse with amazing views, right by the park entrance with super friendly staff. Food was good. We only stayed the one night but loved it. Arranged our safaris, which were great, and we were lucky enough to see all big 5.
Nothing
Absolutely everything. We were upgraded at no extra charge to their best Tree House - which had excellent views over rice fields and the park. Our accomodation was wonderful, including a comfortable bed, aircon, modern bathroom and a large treetop verandah with comfortable chairs. The staff went out of their way to make our stay fabulous. Even driving into town to get me a bottle of white wine (as I don’t drink beer) so I could enjoy a glass or two before dinner. Dinner was superb - we had the bbq. There are chairs and tables dotted around - perfectly positioned to drink in the views - and did I mention the ‘quiet’ - you find your soul there. A huge mention to SAMPATH who oversaw our stay. He got up really early to pack us a delicious breakfast picnic for our 6am Safari (including our driver and Jeep guide). Willapattu National park Safari is a must.
Absolutely nothing to fault.
This property is exceptional. If you don’t stay here, you are really missing out on a wonderful view of the landscape, great food, excellent location to the entrance of the national park and most of all the staff is fantastic and so helpful.
Everything The staff are just brilliant The food is great The location is about 2 mins from park gate I booked my safaris with them it was all good. The rooms are spot on. The view over the paddy fields is awesome with Hornbills and egrets everywhere.
The WiFi is a bit on and off but works enough to be OK.
Tree House is lovely! Its clean. Everbody was helpful and took great care of us. Food was excellent. I can really recommend the place.
The rooms on the ground weren’t as nice as the tree hoses.
Nádherné místo, kousek od brány národního parku Wilpattu. Výborná a milá obsluha. Skvělé jídlo a přátelská atmosféra. Výjimečné místo!
The staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was any trouble for them, they liked to talk to you , it was very peaceful about 5min to the park entrance.
The location for Willpatu safari could not be better. And what an experience to be on the midst of trees and hear all the jungle sounds.
Room temeparture difficult to manage, AC cold on the ground floor but stuffy on the mezanine where the kids slept. Breakfast not as good as un other places we stayed.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, meal service was fantastic with a mix of local and international food options.
Beautiful location and within walking distance to the national park! Birds, monkeys and bats seen from our room.
The food was good and staff were friendly but the restaurant was dated and had no atmosphere. The room wasn’t super clean and the bathroom needs a makeover.
It wasn't what we expected but after the first night we both appreciated the location and loved our room. The staff truly are wonderful and the location is fantastic
Not what I didn't like so much as I wish I knew, if you want alcohol bring it, being the Legends they are they ran out and got me beer (Lion) but nothing else soft drink and water no problem also no TV, I read a lot so no complaining from me but just so you know
Leuke setting. Comfort hoog boven de grond. Lekker eten.
Sehr schöne Lage, in Natur eingefügt.
Lovely off grid property. Staff really helpful and friendly. Location fantastic for visiting wilpattu
Would be nice if they had a small selection of wine to go with dinner for people who don’t drink beer.
Friendly staff; good food. Nice view, we even spotted an elephant. And they arranged a nice safari. Great location for safari, next to the entrance
Not much
Lovely to sit outside for breakfast and watch the wildlife, especially the hornbills. Two minutes drive from the national park. The hotel prepared a lovely packed breakfast and lunch for our safari day.
The garden view was not scenic, so we kept the curtains closed
A fantastic location and amazing staff that will do all they can for you to have the best stay possible. On our first night, we were taken out for a walk to the lake from one of the members of staff and we saw elephants, lots of birds and crocodiles. What a start. From the balcony of our treehouse, we got to see elephants walking across the field and a range of birds flying about. The whole time we were there, the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. We booked a full day safari through the hotel and the experience was amazing. A lovely breakfast and lunch for the trip were provided along with refreshments for the day. The staff could not do enough for you. The treehouse itself was lovely. A unique place to stay in a spectacular setting. Highly recommended.
Location was perfect as Willpatu NP is next door. A great chance to see local life, as you can walk around the village/ lake. Place was nice and clean but we found it a bit pricy for what it is.
Property was fine, we coudnt use the common area in our tree house as it was dirty and furniture were damaged. This could be improved.
We loved our treehouse accomodation. Watching the wildlife in the tops of the treees was fabulous! We saw baby and large squirrels and many many birds from the balcony!! . A simple swing by the creek was perfect for kids to play and chill. Food was great! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful!! We did full day Safari and our treehouse was right next to the National park entrance. Couldn’t get closer!!! The offered laundry which was much needed after Safari. I went on a solo bike ride village tour with Shinran (one of the young staff members) as well as a nature walk. We stayed 3 nights!! Was enough time here! AC was great!! - we did one day Safari and one day visiting some local swimming spots! Would recommend for couples or families.
Everything was amazing. If I was going to give any feedback. The fluresent lighting in the restaurant could be made a bit less Intense. Some more subtle lighting would make it perfect!!
Dinner was lovely and the room and view were amazing. All the staff were helpful and friendly.
Amazing location, great tree houses
Safari breakfast wasn’t ideal.
That it is a tree house and its location, and being right there with the wildlife.
Bathroom a bit dated and poor noise insulation between different accommodation units.
Wonderful view from the treehouse balcony - great spot to listen to the sounds of nature
The view and the baby hornbill and other birds we could watch from the balcony. The safari arranged with a local naturen photographer
A bit expensive compared to standard, but the location is unbeatable. Of course there will be bugs in a rainforest 🙂
Exactly what it says on the tin! Lovely view across rice field where we saw deer, tree animals, birds and bats. Right next to the Wilpattu Park, so no additional travelling.
Amazing
Absolutely nothing
Friendly staff
Excellent location, good food, helpful staff.
No sound proofing, so if you stay an extra night, you'll be woken at 5.30am when others go out on safari!
Amazing experience in the treehouse.Great location for an early safari. Staff were helpful and dinner was amazing.
It’s in a nature reserve park are but we didn’t like when we book loft with it but we didn’t get the loft.
Very poor condition.
We stayed 2 nights in the tree house. The staff in this place was amazing, they went above and beyond to accommodate all our requests (and we've had a lot of questions ). Delicious and affordable food, big portion to fill your belly after a game drive. The location is right next to the national park. The room is comfortable, but not the fanciest, with mosquito net on the lower bed. The terrace was amazing, you can see squirrels, monkeys, hornbills flying around, and even during heavy rain you can rest and relax outside. You can organize game drives directly from here, with a private safari 4x4, half day or full day for affordable prices. Thank you so much for having us!
If you are not used to having small geckos in your room you could find it strange, but the place is in the middle of nature, so it is normal. Shower water pressure could be better :) .
Our time at Wilpattu Tree House was a delightful immersion into nature's embrace. The staff were warm and attentive, ensuring a seamless experience throughout. The treehouse offered a unique vantage point to observe wildlife, with our balcony providing enchanting glimpses of passing animals. Situated near the national park entrance, it served as an ideal launching pad for our safari adventure.
While the facilities were decent, the pricing seemed a tad steep, perhaps reflecting the premium on its prime location. Despite a few insects in the bathroom, our overall experience remained largely unaffected
Location - close to park entrance but also surrounded by forrest and therefore animals and birds. Tree house and excellent choice of room
It was really fun and lovely to be staying in a treehouse and being able to listen to and see the wildlife from our balcony. The hotel was also located right next to the national park which was very convenient. The food was also very tasty and the bed had a good mosquito net.
There were a few insects in the bathroom but that didn’t really bother us!
Friendly staff. The location and the view from the balcony were very good.
Balcony was not cleaned . Bird droppings were everywhere . Suggest using a net when not in use to prevent access to birds. The toilet seat was discoloured . Food was not tasty and not quality. Could have provided better food .Did not get the value for money.
The beautiful view on the Field with animals, friendly staff who arranged everything (Safari, anuradhapura day trip, transfertaxi)
The room was simply furnished and the walls were not completely tight, But this was ok for a tree Hotel
The location was perfect. Wildlife surrounds you. We seen most the wildlife from our balcony, we didn’t really need a ticket to the safari haha
The mattress
Location Location! Right at the entrance to Wilpattu. Very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed one night in one of the lodge rooms. We had dinner there. Traditional Sri Lankan fare. They also arranged the 4x4 half day tour of the reserve. That was more than adequate time to spend there.
Decent facilities. Slightly overpriced for the accommodation. Paying for location, which is fantastic.
The views from the treehouse room 3 are amazing. At the same height of the trees, beautiful birds up close and far reaching views to loads more wildlife. All at the edge of the entrance to Wilpattu
A fabulous location just outside Wilpattu National Park entrance gate. The staff were exceptionally friendly and courteous. We staying in a tree- house room and really enjoyed watching the birds and other wildlife from our balcony
The tree house room we got was excellent with AC and hot water and a great view. The staff was very good and the food was excellent.
Everything was perfect .
Right next to the park. Food was great and staff was friendly!
A glass of wine would have been nice.
Excellent staff including owner of the property, they looked after us for all of our needs. Good food and arranged all necessities. Location was excellent, good comfortable rooms.

Top location right next to the park entrance. We had a room on the top floor, nice terrace with a beautiful view. Comfortable bed, Helpful staff, they arranged a full day safari and supplied us with a very good breakfast and lunch. Our safari driver/guide was Ranjen and he was excellent and totally exceeded our expectations.
Only thing is they didn't clean the room. I guess we had to have asked for housekeeping but that wasn't indicated.
Right next to the park entrance. Can organise safari.
Very overpriced for what it is. AC in 1st room didn’t work, food is double of what you would pay elsewhere and wasn’t warm nor very good. Manager not particularly accommodating.
Amazing location, service and very good food
Bed was a bit uncomfortable for our soft pudgy western bodies
Fantastic location right next to the entrance to Wilpattu. Room was good - hot water from shower and minifridge. Food was fine. Hosts organised safaris for me.
Mattress wasn’t great.
perfect location, very helpful staff- prepared dinner only for us when we arrived, set us in a wonderful treehouse with great view. very relaxing atmosphere,
lots of small mosquitos and insects in the room
peaceful, convenient with super helpful staff
nothing
The food was excellent (we ate Sri Lankan food) and the view from our room was beautiful. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
It would have been useful to have wifi that reached our room but it didn't impact our enjoyment.
The tree house was amazing and the staff went out of the way to help in any way. So close to wilpattu park and they arranged a safari for us.
We areanged a safari through the hotel but entrance fee kept changing every 5 minutes.. we had booked ahead and was told one price.. then were told the price was double and when we got to the park they charged us even more. Though not the fault of the hotel it doesnt help when they were the ones we were arranging everything through. Still recommend this place for that back to nature feel. Just make sure you have extra money for the unexpected. Would have helped to have nternet in the room which is only available at dinner in the restaurant.
it’s better keep clean the back of t
the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. the food was local, well presented and delicious the location was ideal for the Safari Park and the view and surroundings were lovely
We rented three of the triple rooms in the two wooden tree houses at the west, sunset side of the property. There may be another tree house room (?) but no guest was in it. Two of the triple rooms had mezzanine beds that would be best for children and the more agile. Other rooms and another tree house are available in the main houses but we mainly had the place to ourselves. The treehouse with rooms 3 and 4 has clear views of open land to the west, good for watching eg peacocks and other birds and some wild pigs. The treehouse rooms are spacious with balcony sitting areas, large comfortable beds, clean linen, good bathroom and shower facilities, efficient AC and fans, mosquito nets, kettle and tea/coffee and a fridge. A very peaceful spot in the country surrounded by bird calls, no road noise. Some nights were pleasantly cool enough to sleep without AC or fan. Mosquitos were only a minor annoyance. The staff were friendly attentive and welcoming. We had all our meals onsite. The food was very good plentiful traditional Sri Lankan plus options for western style individual meals and breakfast. Two of our party were vegetarian and they felt well catered for. We checked in advance to make sure beer and wine was available. This hotel is directly adjacent to the Horuvila entrance to the National Park so you can be in the park within a few minutes of opening time to catch the early views of the wildlife. We saw an elephant, crocodiles, buffalo, deer, monkeys, monitor, turtle and many bird species including eagles, hornbills and pelicans. This was a 4-5 hour jeep safari organised for us by the staff, which cost 14480 rupees for jeep and driver for the 5 of us. We paid for the National park tickets ( $30 US cash or equivalent in rupee per adult but other currencies eg GBP, EUR probably acceptable) at the park entrance. I don't think credit cards are accepted at the entrance ? With enough notice you may be able to get tickets sorted the previous day perhaps.
We checked ahead that we could pay the final bill by card but on the day the card machine didn't work with any card and we didn't have quite enough cash between us using all currencies. So Sanjeeva came one way to the nearest town with us on the way out and we managed to get enough rupee cash from ATMs to clear the bill. A bit frustrating and time consuming. Probably worth making sure you have enough spare hard cash to cover this kind of situation anywhere.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The safaris were booked and we were provided with a good packed breakfast for the morning safari. The buffet dinner was good.We stayed in a tree house style accommodation which suited the purpose of the visit. The surrounding areas were scenic.
During the power cut period the generator supply was intermittent
localisation just next to the park gate. carrying staff and clean rooms
expensive food comparing to quality; we had to preorder everything few hours before rating
We really loved this place. Amazing view from the Tree House, perfect for birdwatching! Also the staff was really friendly and helpful.
The owner of the place and also other staff were very nice to us. Food was delicious. Tree house is beautiful place to stay with incredible views. Just good to have in mind that it is made from wood boards so you will hear everything very closely. I appreciate the location that is just next door to Wilpattu NP.
