Location Staff were friendly
One of the beds has collapsed Stains everywhere in the room Watermarks in the ceiling THe shower was a dribble and unusable
Nothing
Everything
Location was great. Towels were clean. Very pleasant young man receiving guests at the bar, and tried to help with the TV.
Extremely shabby room, with an underlying unpleasant odour. Could feel every spring in the mattress. Two pillows cases smelt like they hadn’t been changed from previous occupant. Armchair in the room should have been taken to the tip as it was filthy dirty and unhygienic. The rest of the furniture was incongruous. Bathroom window safety catch broken which created a significant safety hazard. Only managed to get two channels on the TV. Charged maximum price for minimum effort to create comfort or pleasant sleeping environment. Should have charged no more than £15 as it was appalling, or shouldn’t be used for paying guests at all.
Great location
The mattress on the bed was soiled with multiple urine stains
Lovely friendly staff in the bar.
Rooms are not consistent, some rooms have tea/coffee facilities and others don't. Beds need replacing, springs are felt with every move. You can hear every noise outside, nightmare with pubs round about. Bathroom is functional but that is about it. Shower can't be used on a reasonable power as it floods. We accept it's cheap but think we'll stay elsewhere.
Good location Good size room
Very noisy but they do provide ear plugs and they can’t control the people outside on the street
the hot water stopped working and the staff did everything they could to fix it and went above and beyond to help us, the rooms are a really good size, the beds are comfortable and the location was perfect for us
Good location, the staff were very helpful
It was in a busy area and quite noisy. However, we were aware of this when we booked it, so we wasn't put off
Went above and beyond to accommodate us

The location if you're ok with loud music until the early hours. I used to live in Leeds and work just down the road from this location, so I was aware it would be loud. My room was right on the front, so I just wore my ear pods and fell asleep listening to a pod cast.
So, my review is completely based on the hotel. I do a review on most places i visit, and I like to be completely honest. Unfortunately, my experience at The Wrens was not a good one. I've stayed at budget hotels that have been cleaner and had better facilities. I am really disappointed with my stay here. When I arrived I was greeted by a lovely lady and shown to my room. I was given the key at the door and let myself in. When I came into the room It smelt like drains in the room. All the windowless were open, so I wasn't sure where the smell was coming from, and I dumped my stuff and headed out. Later, when I returned at 11pm, it smelt like pure sewage. It hit you when you entered the yard at the back, and when I came into my room, it absolutely stank. Access to the building after the pub closed is from the rear. You have a key for the gate, walk up the fire exit, and the fire door is just propped open all night. That was concerning. It took me a minute to get my room door to lock once I was in. When I arrived just after 11pm a couple who looked like they were off their heads were having an argument (swearing, shouting and crying) so I had to navigate past them to get to my room, later this couple were having a fight up stairs but I think the male left after the altercation. It sounded physical for a brief moment. When I got into my room I had to put the bathroom fan on, close the door and put a towel at the bottom to try and contain the smell, it smelt like pure sewage in my room, but I couldn't have the windows open as it was a Friday night and the local pubs were having a good time, no issue with that I slept with my ear pods in. Infact i, slept completely fine until the window cleaner decided to start washing the windows at 6:09am with one of those brushes on a pole, now I had to be up at 7 for my coach home so being woken up an hour early after not getting to sleep till after 1 wasn't ideal. The room itself really needs some TLC.
Location is excellent and the rooms are comfortable and clean
I knew the score beforehand but it is very noisy.
Excellent location in the city center, really comvenient. The room has good space and is comfortable.
Not much light and it was very noisy, had to wear earplugs.
We had abit of a ropey start but once we told simon he couldn't have done anything better five minutes he was at our room sorting tv replacing tea tray even gave us a completely bottle of wine thank you simon
Room was a bit outdated just meed a little TLC , clean shower bit of a paint job needed
Great staff clean rooms great location and bar on site exactly what we were looking for.
Proche du centre et du théâtre, établissement typique et traditionnel.
Énormément de bruit directement sous la fenêtre toute la nuit jusqu'à 5h du matin.
The location was ideal and we were given keys for late night getting back into the property. The room itself was excellent. Very clean, very nice condition and a great layout. 3 of us were very comfortable without the.beds being too close. There were plenty of places to eat around the premises and I would very happily stay there again.
We loved here , we are mid forties couple who like to get out and about in a night out , this was perfect for us , simple , no frills , clean , perfect city centre location . Walked to site from train station , arrived late evening , staff lovely , room perfect , no frills , comfy wide bed , space for our bags , easy in and and out entrance , late night arrival , back in , up in morning , cup of tea and out the door with Keys handed in . Absolutely perfect and will be back
Nothing at all ,
Great location and the room was clean
We stayed in Room 7 and unfortunately found the mattress to be very lumpy and springy, making it uncomfortable to sleep on. There was also no hand towel provided and no teaspoon for making hot drinks. We appreciate that we didn’t pay a lot for our stay, but we still expected a better standard than this. A few simple improvements would have made a big difference.
Everything was perfect
A friendly warm welcoming welcome when you check into the hotel you can get discount in the bar when you stay at the hotel walking distance the train station, coach station , shops etc Easy location for taxi drops off and pick up Tea , coffee and biscuits in the room Smart TV in the room Fans in the room or available on request Iron and ironing boardroom in the room A member of staff allowed me to have a shower in a another room before checking out as we still had no hot water in our bathroom Complimentary bars of soap and travel sized shampoo and shower gel Plenty of draws in the room to store belongings
The property doesn’t have lift so you have to access the rooms via stairs and when the pub is closed you have to access property via fire escape steps around the back of the property which are very slippy when it’s been raining I had to have a cold shower before the concert I was going to as the room had no hot water Struggled to get to sleep as we stayed on a Saturday night and nightclubs are open till early hours of the morning
There was no breakfast
There was a nearby bar open until 5.30am playing music so I didn't get any sleep. There was no hot water coming from the shower
This was OK for the price and very basic
There was zero hot water for the entire stay. Nether hot taps or the electric shower produced a drop of hot water for the entire stay morning and evening. Other than that it was fine
Central location easy walk from the train station and city centre shopping, bars, university campus etc. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location has its own pub and offers discount to guests. beds were comfortable, rooms were spacious and equipped with kettle, coffee, tea etc and a tv. Free WIFI is provided and offered greater than 10Mbps.
It is very noisy due to being next to very popular student bar, also the entrance door at side is quite noisy due to the metal steps, the hotel warns about this in its listing and provides complimentary earphones as well. I couldn't get my shower to go above lukewarm, however as it was 30 degrees plus when I stayed I only used it on cold anyhow. (didn't ask staff regards this, as it did not bother me)
The staff were very helpful and the bed was very comfortable
The room was clean but the furniture and shower need a full refurbishment, there was no usb ports in the room .
The location was perfect. It was clean and tidy. Also the towels for the shower was a nice extra touch.
With the sofa in the living room being turned into a bed, there wasn't a comfy place to sit 7 of us around.
Location great for a concert at Millennium Square loads of bars and eateries
Friendly staff, easy to find, great location and very spacious
Nothing
Location was excellent. Price was good. Plentiful supply of tea & coffee with proper mugs. Staff very friendly and helpful.
We booked a twin room, and whilst the room was clean, the sheet on one of the beds didn't fit and kept coming away from the mattress. There was no hand soap in the bathroom, but bizarrely there were two small bottles of travel shampoo, which we had to use to wash our hands. There was no toilet brush, and the shower was more of a leak than a shower. There was also no hairdryer. The decor was really shabby, unacceptably so, with peeling paintwork, and the dressing table stool was so badly peeled it looked like it had been salvaged from the tip! Whilst it was convenient, I wouldn't stay there again.
The location was great for the arena and central Leeds . The lovely lady who showed us to the room was shy but very helpful and a credit to the venue
The room was dirty , the pillows were dirty and it was very obvious that it was not worth the price I paid to stay there unfortunately. Left early
Großes Zimmer mit Doppelbett, sehr geräumig. Zentrale Lage in Leeds.
The room itself was nice and the location was convenient to get to The 02 acadamy.
The fire exit was left ajar for people to get in and out of the back exit when the bar at the front was closed. When people used the back exit it was very noisy. The door screeches and there were a lot of steps upto the back fire exit which is not good for people with health issues.
The staff were lovely and very helpful
The shower controls are broken the toilet seat is broken in the top bedroom the windows kinda need to be triple glazed for the noise but that's on us overall the wrens was nice just some stuff needs repairing I'm just being honest but we had a good weekend
Shower not great.
Great location
Pub shut early
Location, price and quality of the room and decor.
Shower door doesn't shut in room 5.
Located very well in city centre. Not easy to park but if you contact the hotel before arriving they will advise a local parking facility - sadly we didn’t and it cost us £30 overnight.
No milk for tea/coffee no soap in bathroom light bulbs out but not the end of the world !
I wasn't served any breakfast
Please provide fridge and fans. The heat nearly kill me with noise from the surrounding bars and clubs houses
Excellent location and friendly staff
As we stayed on a Saturday night and we were in the centre of Leeds we did expect some noise however the bar over the road to The Wrens was open until 3 am and it was very noisy( we only discovered the ear plugs in the room the following morning ☹️, our fault obviously, maybe leave them on the bedside table or pillow and not with the tea making facilities) .
Excellent value for money Leeds City centre, great location, nice bar, couldn't fault it for the money. Room was extremely clean and everything I required Excellent customer service, especially from Simon who addressed and immediately sorted out a small problem I had. Booked to stay again.
Nothing to dislike.
Staff were welcoming
One of the windows was broken and would not open. The room needed a comfy chair. The shower curtain. The shower was very slow draining and the tray quickly filled up - I had to turn the shower off to prevent it overflowing. The shower room needed somewhere to put items like toothbrush etc. The flow had a brown sticky liquid in one corner.
Very central . Friendly and helpful staff.
A side door leading to the fire escape has to be used if checking out early or coming back late. The noise of the door dragging on metal was extremely loud and my room Was next to it. The shower wasn’t great and sounds like a small aeroplane. I think the place has a tired look and feel about it . The TV came on of its own accord at some time during the night so all in all it wasn’t a restful experience . Has great potential .
I went to see Nevertel at the key club and the wren is only 3 minutes walk away so the location was good. Was slightly loud at night due to football but was to be expected. Shower was good and beds very comfortable.
The location was great for us.
Going up the fire escape at night
Lovely room & bathroom. Very nice girl who explained everything .
Problems with locking room door and opening rear gate to get back in.
Staff were lovely, 15% off drinks if you stay here, room was fine for a 1 night stay and how much it cost. Close location to arena
Location. Kept awake till 6am when bars and clubs closed. The music volume was another level.
Fantastic room, convenient location, very friendly staff
Bathroom smelt of bad drains. It was very noisy at night - clubs and games arcade opposite. Probably not an issue for a younger guest but not so good for me on a work trip.
Very friendly staff, Grace was very nice to us and a lovely lady
Lovely welcome, clean & comfortable
The location is fabulous. Its near the arena, is perfect if going to see a show.. It's not far from the train station. Lots of places to eat nearby. The main shopping area is just a few minutes away. The staff are polite. professional snd the hotel rooms are well maintained and clean. Good value for money. There's a bar to get a drink before a show at the arena.
It is located in a lively arena. So there is a little noise, which is expected for the location.
It was clean cheap room Lovely old feel about it
Being left with no staff on all night long. Having to use fire exit to get in they didn't tell which door to unlock In the morning no one there on reception again door locker bottom of stairs Using fire exit to leave If anyone had been taken ill there was just no one about Just not on
In the town centre
Good staff, shown to room and how to make early exit.
Nothing, and puts klausk in Helsinki to shame with welcome.
We had the greatest welcome and the lady made us feel at ease straight away. The room was so nice, we felt at home and didn't want to leave. The location is perfect is you want to walk about the town centre !
Easy to find, clean, comfortable and spacious.
Saturday night was loud as my room was above the bar and across the road were some bars/clubs. I'd read reviews so I already knew this was potentially going to be an issue so I wasn't surprised. The hotel did kindly supply some earplugs however I didn't actually see them until making myself a morning coffee, the following day. It wouldn't deter me coming again though. Enjoyed it.
Lovely and very helpful staff, and situated in a great location, central to everywhere I wanted to go. Very clean room and the bed was so comfortable.
Location great for nightlife, staff were friendly.
Not amazingly clean, shower really stiff so really hard to adjust height (images showed a bathtub that wasn’t the case unfortunately), can’t go to the bar and take a drink up to your room unless it’s closing time which I found a bit bizarre.
La habitación era muy cómoda y la unicacion es muy buena estás cerca de todo, el personal super amable
La zona es ruidosa.
Superb location for the First Direct Arena and restaurants - 5 mins walk max! The staff member that checked us in was lovely & friendly so great to deal with :) The room was perfect for an overnight stay for our concert. A little noisy at night but we expected that so not a problem!
Shower pressure was a bit weak but no problem for just an overnight stay. It wouldn't put me off returning.
Right in the city centre. Clean and comfortable
Be aware due to location it is noisy throughout the night
Lovely staff and great value for money considering the location is city centre
Bed mattress was a little springy but wasn’t bad enough to put me off staying again
Location for the Grand Theatre & Railway station
Nothing
It was in good location in Leeds, near pubs..cafes, shopping centre and restaurants. Not too far away from Leeds railway station, but if you have a heavy case, then taxi might be required
I was already warned by booking.com that it can get a bit noisy in the evening because there is a music venue nearby. I have no complaints whatsoever. As long as you're warned in advance about any possible problems, then you have been given sufficient warning
Very central to all the amenities, young girl working the bar were very friendly and happy to answer our questions
There was nothing not to like. If you just need a room for a night or two, the Wren is ideal, and I would definitely use it again
The location of the place is really good! The staff were friendly and accommodating The room was huge Comfy bedding
We stayed over a rare UK heat wave and the room was extremely warm, old building in the sun can't be helped much. Mattress was a very springy
Good location, cleanish, good value for money for such a central location, quite comfy and warm.
Very noisy door all night. Bathroom needs a good scrub (mould all over the shower).
lovely
The location was very central, pretty accommodating. Check out is easy.
The location is good, but it's surrounded by nightclubs so not very good if someone is a light sleeper. The room was a bit dark, we needed the lights on during the daytime.
Perfect location in heart of the city (if you don’t mind a bit of street noise, fine with windows closed). I needed to drop my bag and collect my key early due to being at a festival, and the staff were so helpful to facilitate this, which I really appreciated! Comfy beds too.
Facilities need a bit of an update. Couldn’t get any hot water for shower, didn’t have time to contact anyone to sort it out before my train. Not hotel’s fault but it was heatwave during the stay, so a fan would be good to add to rooms.
The property is in a fantastic location. Located in the centre of Leeds, you are in the main shopping district within five minutes walk. The room, whilst the decor is dated, it is perfectly clean and the room size was great. Functionally, it is a great hub for groups going to gigs/concerts around the Leeds area - the value of money just cannot be beat.
Please note it is located right in the night social district of Leeds City Centre - so it is NOISY(!) and will be, well into the early hours of the morning. If you don't mind noise like that and you can sleep through anything, then this place would be great for you.
Clean, helpful friendly staff, excellent location for the theatre, bars, food and train station
Did not stay here
False booking, took money and wouldn’t reimburse, they had several rooms available for the night of my supposed booking so not like they were turning people away
Excellent value for money, in the middle of the City, fantastic size room
Noisy until 5am, however, didn't really bother us as we still slept, if you were a light sleeper then you may not sleep
The location was fantastic. The chap who gave us the key and showed us to our room was great. Really helpful. The room was tidy.
The bed was uncomfortable. There was a very loud drip outside the window at night that kept waking us up.
Central so could walk to most places & resturants
Mattress was too soft
It was convenient to other venues. Not hard to get to.
There is a lot of stairs to get to rooms
Room was good.
So noisy and no sleep.
Room was clean and fine.
Location is in the student district near a few bars and clubs. Noise went on until 4am even on a Tuesday. Don't stay here unless you plan on going to bed at 3am drunk
Location very good in city centre. The one member of staff we saw was pleasant. Bed comfortable.
Shower sounded like an electric generator - extremely noisy. Only access in and out of property at night was through a fire escape, which was right outside our room. Loud scraping noise then bang each time anyone used it. Also an illuminated green exit sign in our room was on all night.
