Quiet setting with friendly, helpful staff. Easy walking distance to town centre.
Excellent staff! Liam, Austin and Joseph made our stay very pleasant! The Hotel is in a good location. It's near a train station, and a short walk to the surrounding area, which has shops and eating options. I highly recommend this hotel!
I run a small kayak club and we came to Scotland to paddle the Falkirk Wheel. I booked this hotel as I loved its old world charm and it was extremely convenient to everything and priced very reasonably. We stayed a week and my group could not have been happier! The Manager Liam was fantastic! Full of information and there to help you for what ever you needed! My group was exceptionally pleased with the hotel and staff. Thank you again!
Location to central motherwell
I’m a regular at the Bentley with my 11 year old son as we travel a lot for Motherwell fc games as we don’t stay in Lanarkshire. Staff are friendly nothing is ever too much for them rooms are clean and tidy breakfasts are great too I never stay anywhere else when am in Motherwell
Lovely place to stay! Room was cosy and clean, staff very welcoming. Highly recommended!
Reception staff were excellent. Couldn’t have been more attentive and breakfast left at the room door was a welcome surprise. Room was fine for single guest, but maybe add a towel hook and soap dish to the bathroom?
We appreciate we did not pay a lot for this hotel, however, perhaps the room could have been a bit cleaner (a coat of paint, bathroom flooring not great and a hair in the shower cubicle.)
I am a regular. Extremely worth the money. Extremely helpful and understanding staff, who even sorted another hotel for me when they were fully booked. All rooms are different and in 19th and early 20th century style. Love it ❤️
Excellent as always great hotel staff friendly as ever
The room was large and comfortable When we booked breakfast was included but no breakfast for anyone as kitchen was getting renovated. I was a bit annoyed that I hadn’t been notified by hotels.com or the hotel before our stay. The water pressure in the shower was poor but hot enough and the shower tray filled up with water on our last night we had noisy neighbours (if you know what I mean) which spoiled our stay a bit but overall cheap cheerful handy for the town. Loads of pubs and takeaways will definitely be back.
The room was okay and clean. There was unfortunately no pressure in the shower, and we had to wait 15 minutes for the water to turn warm. other than that it was a convenient and easy.
Very well priced for town centre
no dining facilities or disabled access lift to room
Staff great hotel clean
A great stay and good price. Parking is limited and bathroom dated but all other aspects were excellent. Would stay again. Thank you
This hotel had many good features. The rooms were immaculately clean, the bedlinen was good quality and smelt delicious, good lighting in the room, shampoo, showergel and soap good, bathmat in bathroom and some thought had gone in to the decor in the rooms. However, although clean the shower room had rotting skirting boards, the bedside table and desk were cheap and showing wear. The view from the window over a derelict flatroof building was unappealing and the carpark had a lot of litter lying about. The night porter was nowhere to be seen when we left at 8am and there was no bell to summon anyone so we just left our key cards on the reception desk. Most disappointing was that they no longer served breakfast, despite it being advertised as included when we booked through Expedia. That was one thing that attracted us to this hotel. It wasn't on the order confirmation so there was a miscommunication somewhere and we don't feel we got what we thought we paid for. Wouldn't go back.
Hotel was old room small bathroom not up to standard and flooring very poor
Nice hotel with cebtral location. Very reasonably priced.
Excellent hotel we arrived in January once we walked into the hotel the heat was amazing there was friendly staff on the reception the bedroom was great size the bed was clean and comfortable shower was warm there is a train station 5min walk the breakfast was lovely would def reccommend and would stay again.
False advertisement when booking the room wasn’t given the room in the picture I booked it was for my mum and dad it was very dirty , small room and bathroom , dirty tissues on top of the radiator , bed was very uncomfortable, nobody there to check in , restaurant wasn’t in service as function in place is disgusting and shouldn’t be allowed to be in operation and il be letting people know as I’m an influencer
Room and toilet wasn’t very clean. Staff were quite abrupt. Would’ve preferred a later check out time but after 10 am was not available. Ok for the price and good location
Was too quiet, bar and resteraunt closed, was very disappointed and will not return
Good points first,; lovely staff very friendly and helpful, and a excellent breakfast. Good parking and near the town. Lovely looking building. Bad : unfortunately the room was grubby , a lot of noise from the air conditioning, room very hot even with the radiator turned down and the bathroom was just a disaster. The hotel rooms desperately need a revamp
We enjoyed our stay here, we chose it because of the proximity to the station and the price, breakfast included was also a plus (very nice). As a coeliac I have to be careful what I eat and the staff understood this perfectly. Our bathroom was in need of a little TLC but perfectly adequate, the bedroom was spacious clean and comfortable. Their restaurant was closed at the time, but we found 2 excellent restaurants to eat in a short walk away. The Electric Bar about 15 Mins and The Indian Villa. Both reasonably priced and great food.

Good value for money Friendly staff
A bit cold in the room
Nice place very big rooms
Great location, nice big room, tv, tea and coffee, friendly staff and great breakfast. Only downside as others commented, lack of hot water for shower, it barely raised above cold at any time (room 305) and a cold shower in December is at best unpleasant. Shame as otherwise would give 5*.
Nice hotel
Excellent hotel and great value.
We missed the bar . We thought it was closed till the last night when we were told we could have a drink and take it to our room . Also restarante service
Very nice staff go out there way to help and very polite
Great value for money hotel with nice rooms and amazing breakfast… This is a traditional hotel of fine standards offering great value for money in a good location. The team at the hotel are wonderfully welcoming with check in efficient and professional, the hotel benefits from an on-site bar and restaurant but I did not utilise so cannot give an opinion on. The bedrooms (some on the third floor and there is no lift) are reached via clean and well maintained stairways and corridors. Room 305 was large with two sofas, a desk and a very comfortable bed which aided a lovely nights sleep. The Wi-Fi worked well yet the television was disappointing, old and poor quality (also I could not turn off the subtitles). The en suite shower room was spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the room, the shower lacked water pressure though. Breakfast was wonderful; served from the menu direct from the kitchen, the full Scottish is truly exceptional; hot, delicious and hearty. The coffee was awful. Located on the edge of the town centre, close to the towns main railway station where you can connect with trains to Glasgow city centre in under twenty minutes and with direct trains to and from London Euston, Preston, Manchester city and airport together with Liverpool Lime Street. There is also an express bus connection to Glasgow from the end of the road. The hotel has its own car park which is free to residents. The hotel offers good value for money and is highly recommended by me.

Although some parts of the hotel are a bit tired, it's very warm & cosy & ideal for a few nights stay. Our room was a great size, spotlessly clean with a comfy bed & tea / coffee & toiletries. Great value. Really enjoyed our breakfast & the staff are very friendly & helpful.
We arrived early and the lady on reception booked us in. The breakfast was excellent and room was clean, comfy beds . Bathroom could do with an update ...... but for price we paid was well worth the stay.
Hotel is full of character, very large room. We enjoyed the breakfasts.
Wonderful staff. Very friendly. Clean and quiet hotel. Basic but just what we needed for one night. Very reasonable priced .
Once again, I arrived at the hotel to a very pleasant welcome, booking in was swift and easy, got to the room and found it nice and warm and very fresh and clean, no issues whatsoever and what a lovely breakfast, the staff were prepared to go out of their way to help you in any way,,fantastic job guy's keep up the great work,,harry
I booked through expedia it was nothing like expedia put on line, they had lovely pictures of food and there was nothing restaurant closed, totally unexceptable
Staff very friendly and hotel very clean. For the first time ever in a hotel my single room had a huge window, which made it light and airy, with an open view instead of the postage stamp size windows with a view over the backyard! Sadly the shower needed a little more water pressure but it was adequate for purpose. No evening dining was on offer but maybe because it was out of season, however, the centrality of the hotel made it an easy walk to a variety of takeaways and restaurants. The breakfast was more than adequate with good coffee.
Good, honest budget hotel. The staff were really good, as was the breakfast. Several options for food within minutes of walking - including a very good Chinese. If traveling by rail, five mins walk from the station. Have stayed before and will stay again.
Hotel staff were friendly and on hand. Room was lovely and comfortable. Only issue I had was hot water for shower .
AWFUL...nowhere to park initially as there was a function going on...the receptionist very kindly moved her car for us. Room was cold when we arrived as the radiators were turned off completely, restaurant closed due to a function, VERY shabby decor, shower barely a trickle, no hairdryer. Function carried on well into the early hours with shouting and slamming of doors until at least 2/3am. Veggie breakfast was passable. More worrying were the "fire" doors with huge gaps between the door and the frame! And lack of security at the front door. Staff lovely but clearly stretched. Would NOT recommend (unfortuanately we are already booked for next weekend...not looking forwad to that!)
TERRIBLE...Went to check in but told we were allocated a twin room when we booked a double. Room was cold (heating not on), velux window wouldn't close properly, shower barely a trickle, very shabby decor, disappointing porridge, no hair dryer. More worrying were the "fire" doors with massive gaps between the door and the frame. No security so anyone could wander in. Same member of staff as last Saturday, who we couldn't fault and the room allocation wasn't her doing. And to top it all off the price was 50% more than last weekend because of the football!! Would NOT recommend.
Staff was very nice, property was extremely basic, old, rundown, and not clean. Scuffs on the wall, hole on the ceiling and light shining through the window all night (no sufficient black out curtain). A place to stay only if you are passing through.
Photographs did not truly represent current condition of our room 102. Window did not open and renovation of room and bathroom needed. No restaurant service as advertised.
You only get what you pay for. Although the windows looked new, they whistled all night in the wind. The wind also blew into the room and over you when you were in bed. No bedside tables, really noisy bed. Bathroom very small - sink looked as if it was very old, wobbly toilet seat. Towels were lovely and fluffy. Also threw in a nice breakfast which I appreciated.
Lovely hotel very friendly and helpful staff room was cozy and very clean, breakfast was outstanding would definitely recommend this and I’m hopeful to book again in the future
Breakfast was great.
Worst night sleep ever, the mattress should of been scrapped as all that was left was the springs the shower door was stuck I had to have a fight just to shower which was really temperamental it kept going freezing then boiling, there was no hairdryer to dry ones hair there was rusty parts in bathroom and really run down in general
excellent for 1 night
This hotel was everything that I needed while visiting at the hospital,,on arrival staff were very fast efficient and a friendly welcome,,on arrival at my room I was very impressed to find that the room was lovely and warm on a very cold night outside,,bed was especially comfortable, everything that I needed was in place,,very comfortable,,was met at dining room and seated, breakfast was lovely and filling,,not problems at all here,,I will definitely return to this hotel when in the area,,well done guys, it's a yes from me,,harry
My second visit to the hotel. My only gripe was the shower. Was not powerful enough
Last min booking as working in the area for the price excellent great sleep nice breakfast
A great place to stay at a very good price. Nice room and shower. Fantastic cooked breakfast. Glasgow is just a short train journey away. Recommended.
Realty friendly and helpful team
Conveniently placed, and was quiet around hotel. The room was clean, but the bathroom lacked hooks or somewhere to put toiletries, and was in need of an update. The breakfast was good, full Scottish/ Vegetarian. Overall it was good for the price.
I stayed at this hotel as I was attending a family function at Motherwell football ground. The hotel was very handy as was a short taxi ride away and a 6 minute walk from train station. The building is lovely, I was checked in by Angela who was fantastic, I saw her do a few jobs in the hotel and she was always very pleasant & had a wee chat which was nice as I was on my own. She was also very helpful in sorting me out with a local cab firm. The room I was in was at the very top, but I was glad as it was very quiet. The room was very clean so well done Housekeeping. Bed linen was lovely, mattress protector and pillow protectors on which was good. Bathroom was clean but a bit small and shower needs re tiled. Breakfast was excellent full Scottish, coffee and apple juice were great, again Angela was serving breakfast, she works very hard! Overall it was a really nice stay and I would go back. It does need some investment just to maybe decorate corridors and maybe modernise the dining room.and bathrooms.
A beautiful old Victorian hotel with tons of charm. Makes you feel like you're staying in a hotel from a hundred years ago, rather than the ultra-processed chains of today. Breakfast was a full Scottish breakfast (with a vegetarian option), which was lovely, and the hotel has a full restaurant and bar. The grounds are a bit unkempt, and the hotel itself is a little out of the way, but otherwise it's a quaint, charming place with an incredible amount of character. I kept expecting to turn the corner and see the ghosts of travelers gone by!
The room was small and the window did not open so the room was a bit stuffy. We had trouble with the shower and the availability of hot water. The scottish breakfast was delicious and the staff very hospitable. The hotel was conveniently located to downtown Motherwell so we were able to walk to the restaurants, pubs and church.
Very handy place to stay when we were heading to TRNSMT festival. Right near the train station. Easy check in and check out. Friendly and helpful staff (not always on reception, but made it clear where you could find someone later on if you needed to). Room had what we needed. Decor could do with a tidy up in places in the room/bathroom but was clean. Only issue really was the shower, as that didn't always work and was poor pressure when it did. Breakfast was easy and included in price. Would stay again if we needed to be in the area.
Lovely breakfast and room was quite clean. The hotel is very tired and the beds very soft. Shower cubicle had no shelf to rest anything. No toiletries provided apart from tiny bar of soap.
no lighting in room no service at breakfast cook also serving tables
I chose the Bentley Hotel in Motherwell, Lanarkshire, based on a family recommendation and some mixed reviews. Despite its 3.5-star rating, the £85 per night price seemed steep for the area. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. Our room was extremely small, with an equally tiny double bed. While the room looked freshly painted and not too bad at first glance, it quickly revealed its flaws. The window view was dreadful, facing decaying wood and buildings. The carpet had no underlay, making it thin and threadbare. The bathroom was incredibly cramped, featuring a minuscule hand basin. It was full of black mildew, with decaying and rotting wood around the shower. Although the hotel advertised toiletries, there was only a single small tablet of soap. The towels were ragged and thin, and the sheets were of poor quality, with the bottom sheet not even fitting the bed. The room was furnished with two IKEA lamps and two battered bedside cabinets. The bed itself was terribly uncomfortable, feeling like concrete. On closer inspection, it turned out to be makeshift, with a plastic fabric headboard and the base was two horizontal wooden box type frames supporting a very thin old mattress. This made for an excruciatingly uncomfortable night’s sleep on a small double bed. To make matters worse, the floors creaked loudly, and from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., we could hear everyone coming in and out. This, combined with a wardrobe with a broken door and a poorly functioning kettle, left a bad impression. The hotel seemed to be run on an absolute minimum shoestring budget, and the overall quality was worse than most hostels I’ve stayed in. The TV was extremely small and did not work properly. Breakfast was passable, and generally the staff were helpful. However they were scarce and It was disconcerting that the front door appeared to be left open all night with no one at reception. Speaking with a local taxi drivers, he also gave the hotel a terrible review and said the people he picked up from there invariably complained about the hotel Bentley, further confirming our disappointment. How this hotel is rated 3.5 stars on TripAdvisor is beyond me. I cannot believe the positive reviews are authentic given our experience.
It’s not good. It needs some serious investment. I know it was cheap and I guess you get what you pay for but.. room was very tight for space, there’s no room for bedside tables, mattress - you can literally feel the springs. Bathroom - there’s nowhere to put anything, shower tray is scummy, we were in room 102 - breakfast was included it was fair except the sausages were the cheapest nastiest I have even tasted. It’s really run down.
Bathroom needs some attention not suitable in current state
This Hotel is in a great location to the train station and all local amenities within walking distance, Strathclyde park is a 15 minutes walk away with a beautiful lake and a nice walk Around it ,taking you to Scotlands Theme park , The breakfast was beautiful presented and plenty of it for you to start the day ,the only let down is its served between 7 and 8.45 which may be a little early for some people. The staff were friendly but most of all the chef he was lovely and the day we were leaving couldn't do enough for us hes a credit to the hotel. NOW for the down sides This Hotel could definatly do with a full refurbishment ,every where was tired, with paint missing ,watermarks on the ceiling the beds need replacing with new furnishings The shower we had was dirty and you couldn't swing a cat in the bathroom with an old style sliding door which didn't close properly and it was right next to the bed too . The tiny sink.that was in the bathroom is more like one you put In a closet toilet ,there were holes in the wall all over the bathroom and room where they had drilled an not put things there. The Bed had staples in that the material around it to make it look like faux leather it was terrible.... There was no where to sit at night time once you got back In the evening, yes they had a bar but always in darkness and not in use ,just nowhere to sit and relax but to go to your room This Hotel has great potential and to make lots of money if the right person was to get there hands on it !!
Lovely hotel, great facilities! Only issue we had was the temperature of the room. They couldn’t turn the heating off and it made the room incredibly hot and uncomfortable to sleep in during the hot weather we had
We booked half board but found out on arrival that it's now only B&B so had to get refunded for the non dinners. The breakfasts were very good though and couldn't fault those. We obviously had to go out for dinner each evening. This hotel really needs a lot of refurbishments. Can't fault the staff as their doing as best they can. Staff were pleasant and lovely to speak to. I would only stay there again if they did the refurbishment it so badly needs.
Nice friendly hotel. Excellent value. Close to the motorway
Upon arrival the hotel is beautiful from the outside and the free parking is a bonus. When we went to check in we waited for ages and no one appeared, we had to press the ring door bell outside and eventually a lady arrived to check us in. We had called over a week ago and asked if we could check in early, when we told the lady this she said she hadn’t been made aware that we called but she did still let us check in early, I asked if the hotel had a lift and it felt like she took offence at me asking because the building is “SO old” okay I’m not a mind reader, it was a simple question and we have stayed in old buildings before that have lifts. Room was on the top floor, had to lug heavy suitcases up, the room was small but comfy, it was a hot day and was disappointed to find no fan in the room so we had to leave the window open all night and was woken by people outside talking. The bathroom was awful, you couldn’t swing a cat and the water pressure was the worst thing we have ever experienced in our lives, at one point the water stopped working all together, you also had to turn it on and leave it 10 mins to heat up. We also got woken up 2 days in a row by the loud slamming of the other doors from the rooms, the bed was comfy with nice bedding but the TV only has about 5 functioning channels. Check out is 10am which is bizarre, you have to pay £10 extra to stay until 12pm and of course there was no staff when we checked out. The best thing about this hotel is the location! It’s a stones throw from the train station and has a small highstreet with some nice shops! Even though it wasn’t a great experience, we would go back and maybe book a larger room on a lower floor because the location was excellent for what we paid, if they could get the staffing and water situation sorted out it would rate so much higher!
Got to the hotel 6pm so after well after check in times. No one around at the small reception. Waited and waited. Eventually a female came out and she identified herself as the housekeeper. I was checked in and requested a room near friends who had informed me they were in 110. (My female friend had mobility issues and was originally in room 304 with many stairs to navigate) I was told that my room was 304 and she had been relocated. I was on the very top floor and told there was no more rooms available. The room was dire! An attic room Only a skylight velux window that would not open. No soap at all in the tiny bathroom with such a small alcove I couldn’t move my elbows up. No soap in the shower which was mouldy. Bathroom sink cracked. Walls damaged. Dirty floor with mouldy grime. I walked down 4 floors to reception to ask if there was any soap available- no one at reception again. Eventually the same housekeeper came and said there had been a delivery issue for soap but she could me some old pieces of ex guests soap which had been previously left! I refused and she went into the back and brought me a Carex container of antibacterial hand wash. I paid £74 for this disgusting room. Be aware - No lift at in this hotel I would not stay here again
We needed a room for the night and this hotel had the perfect location. The train station was less than 5 minute walk. That is the only benefit, the hotel was old, cracks in doors, you can hear every movement from the upstairs room, and mold in shower. I wanted to get a drink but bar always seemed closed. Overall great location but terrible facilities.
The room showed signs that someone had tried to fix a few problems but wasn’t quite up to it. A little silicone here and there would work well. The 2 single beds were too soft and it felt as though one was sinking into them and would never reappear. Everyone was friendly enough, but the man at the front desk had a very thick accent which made it difficult for us to understand what he was saying. He would go outside and have a cigarette just outside the front entrance, but did not use his time to remove the bits of rubbish which had been left by guests in the car park. I found a small piece of glass, an inch square, on the driveway. No hooks for anything, and after the instructions to us was to hang our towels up if we wanted to use them again the next day, and no towel rails. Seating in our room was below par. Breakfast was included, but it took a while before all was ready for us to enjoy. The tv should be installed on the wall and then the desk can be used as a desk and provided with an office chair.
Excellent value, decor a little tired but it was a nice and clean hotel, our room was big with really comfy beds. All staff were attentive and helpful. Note: there are a lot of steps and stairs and no lift, so not suitable for those with limited mobility. Will stay again
We just used the place to sleep basically, we are out around 8 am and back late at night.
My daughter and I stayed at the Bentley for 6 nights while exploring Scotland. The convenience of a 5 munute walk to town and the train station made the trip manageable. The hotel was cozy, clean, historic, and relaxing. A full breakfast was served daily to begin our daily adventures and the staff was like family. I would stay here again. Thanks to the staff for welcoming us.
It was the perfect hotel for us! It was simple and cozy. We loved that it wasn't updated because it gave us the old time feel that you don't get it upscale hotels. We felt like family, food was good, coffee was excellent, and we looked forward to seeing Julie everyday to tell her of our daily adventures. There were no fancy shampoos, but we always use our own while traveling. I would stay here again and hope to return someday.
Good overnight stay, hotel slightly dated but fit for our purpose, good breakfast. Very reasonably priced
Poor service - only saw one member of staff who checked us in and then served us breakfast the next morning, wearing the same dirty clothes. Quilt was stained... Bathroom was badly designed... Couldn't open the only velux window because it looked like it would fall to bits if we did... When we checked out, that same member of staff said, "See you later"; but they won't. Honestly, we considered cutting our losses and trying to find an alternative place to stay the night...
Excellent 👍
The location is very good. It's located very close to Motherwell Rail Station. (10 mins walk approx). The hotel offers room service and has a pub/ bar and restaurant inside. The staff that works in the hotel did allow me to bring food from nearby shops into the room I stayed at. Excellent service in many areas.
The bedroom was lovely, comfy bed. We were given a fan as the room was hot on arrival. The bathroom really needs attention although it was clean. The young girl serving the breakfast was lovely and nothing was a problem for her. Was nice to be able to have our laundry done. There was a noisy exhaust fan from the restaurant outside our bedroom window.
We booked half board but there was no evening meal.
The room was an odd layout with the beds (twin room) then a room next to this with two chairs and the bathroom and wardrobe, however, the windows in the side room did not have blinds/curtains so it was very bright since we were travelling in May so was struggling to sleep later (we arrived late due to travelling). The beds were hard and uncomfortable, so struggled to get to sleep. The bathroom had bugs in the bath, so made me feel uncomfortable to shower in there, generally the look of the bathroom was quite run down. We didn't get the breakfast that was included since it was over before 9am (again arriving late)
Brilliant location for everything.
Hotel was very clean and nice other than the water pressure and shower head was broken. The surrounding area was kind of sketchy and the locals did not take well to Americans. Other than that staff was great and hotel was fine for a quick stay.
Bed side lamp was not connected. No hanging facilities in the bathroom. It is easy to knock your head in the bathroom for a tall person.
Staff friendly, nice freshly cooked breakfast, room comfortable, plenty hot water and heating. Handy spot near station. Not a luxury hotel for a holiday but perfect for a stop over, bathrooms could do with updating but everything worked. Recommend the cantonese restaurant Mandarin 2mins walk away for food.
All good
Always love staying at the Bentley
Nice people, Great breakfast! But the TV didn’t work and the shower was aweful. Basically a dribble come out. Worst shower I’ve ever had.
I paid extra for half board and was told there’s no half board and breakfast was really nice. Bathroom has mould around the ceiling and bed wasn’t comfy to sleep in, I’ve got refunded for half board option. Won’t be back to hotel
Excellent stay
All staff friendly n happy to help Didn’t like that the heating was on all night far to hot.
Not realyy suitable for people with mobility issues, Breakfast excellent
Staff were friendly and extremely helpful, going above and beyond to help us! Service from staff was excellent and price was very competitive. I would thoroughly recommend the Bentley hotel for anyone planning on having a function. You won't regret it.
