The Wind Castle

I booked Wind Castle for my father’s birthday celebration, and we had a wonderful stay. Everything was lovely, from the beautiful property and peaceful surroundings to the excellent service. The food was delicious, and all the staff were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They made our stay feel special.

First off the castle is beautiful. We had the red room and it was like nothing else ive stayed in. The views are gorgeous you can see the town from below, and the room was very spacious and when travelling with four friends it was so refreshing to have a lot of space. The food there was excellent, after a long day of travel it is nice to come down those stairs and eat food at the castle, uou feel like a real princess! The food was yummy and they accommodated my lack of spice which was so nice. All of the workers are lovely and I would 100% stay here again, feels like little England and the price was a bargain!!

Remote location down a very windy road that you will need a tuk tuk for. Staff can arrange this for you.

Exceptionally beautiful location; if the weather had been better, we would certainly have had a great view. The staff are very friendly and flexible; at our request, we were able to have breakfast outside. It has a certain style ;)

We booked a mountain suite room. It had an amazing view of piduratalagala mountain from the room. Interior was really nice. We ordered breakfast and lunch. The food was good. The staffs were friendly.

The room was spacious, clean, and free of bugs, which I really appreciated. The staff were very kind and even waited for me during a late check-in. The garden also offers beautiful scenery, and overall it’s a good choice for a short, one-day stay.

The room was a bit cold, although that’s expected in Nuwara Eliya. There’s no AC, and heaters are only available for an extra charge as advertised. The property is also about 15 minutes drive from the town centre.

Location is pretty amazing.

Habitación grande y cómoda, aunque un poco descuidada. Los muebles son nuevos, pero han dejado la moqueta antigua (roja) que es muy poco higiénica. El desayuno está bien, es a la carta, pero un poco básico (tostadas, huevos, sin opciones veganas). Lo tomamos ahí sólo un día porque hicimos trekking temprano y el último día preferimos ir a otro sitio. Decidimos cenar ahí una noche, porque llovía y hacía frío y no apetecía ir en Tuktuk al pueblo, y comimos muy bien. Personal aparentemente seco, pero muy amable.

Está muy alejado del pueblo. Sabíamos que estaba fuera y no se tarda mucho a bajar en Tuktuk, pero quizás hubiera sido más cómodo estar en el pueblo. Necesitan quitar la moqueta de las habitaciones, es fea y sucia y no huele bien.

Las vistas, aunque a veces haya niebla.

El desayuno no merece la pena ni el de sri lanka ni el english. El personal nos puso mala cara cuando le pedimos que nos cambiara un billete de 1000 rupias en billetes más pequeños y no nos cambiaron.

Las camas eran muy cómodas y el baño estaba muy limpio. Tiene unas vistas expectaculares. Los trabajadores muy amables en todo momento.

Había humedad en la habitación, muchísima; y soy asmática. No tiene una buena ubicación, está muy lejos del centro. El personal tardó 1h en preparar el desayuno y, algunas cosas que pone en la carta, no las sirven.

We absolutely loved it. We had the whole castle to ourselves. The rooms are super spacious and the bathroom was amazing. The host was so accomodating, helped us with organising travel into town. Breakfast was amazing, we couldn’t eat it all but was delicious. The welcome drink was tea from the local area and it was so delicious. It was super clean and smelled amazing. I would book it again in a heartbeat. Thank you to all the staff!!

Huge room in a castle on top of a mountain overlooking the Nuwara Eliya valley. Friendly staff, tasty food, great views.

Quite the distance to any of the things we wanted to see in the area and we were the only guests in the hotel, which felt kind of lonely. Several dishes from the were unavailable because of this.

The view is simply breathtaking, it’s an amazing experience having breakfast/ coffee outside in the morning!

The room was quite cold and there was no heating, we asked for a heater but they didn’t have any available. The shower alternated water temperature, so at some point it might be too hot, then regular or regular, then too cold. Also, the towels were stained.

It was a calming experience and very relaxing. Definitely try the mountain view suite if you can it's worth it. Also the staff is very friendly.

Location, view and garden

We was so excited to reach to this hotel and we left total disappointed. Hotel has not any isolation and is so noisy listening people talking, walking etc. when they cooking in the kitchen all the smell is coming to the room. The size bed is so small for two adults. And last we had the terrible experience eating dinner there and be nauseous and vomiting all night. The food was just terrible. We return one of the plates back, the fired chicken with fries couldn’t be chewed and fries was just frozen bad quality potatoes when all area is full of fresh vegetables. All the time of cooking we was hearing the microwave working non stop. Might be frozen food they unfrozen and cook it. DONT eat in this restaurant

Large, clean room with nice view. Good quality linen. Kettle with tea and coffee. Water pressure excellent. Bathroom didn’t have the musty smell so many in Sri Lanka seem to.

Literally the most magical view of Nuwara Eliya from their lawn! Beautifully maintained lawn. The bathroom was spotlessly clean, though room could be better. Great warm water pressure in the morning. 15 minute Tuk tuk ride to city center. Helpful staff.

The rest of the carpeted victorian vibe is nice-ish but would suggest the management to change the upholstered bed headboards in the room. Because no matter how hard your staff tries, it is always going to be dusty and might dampen experience of your guests.

It was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. Excellent views from the hotel. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast at the hotel and they were the best meals we had. We thanked the chef personally.

Lovely staff willing to help and produced some really nice food.

Just know the hotel is 3km from the centre, which is not an issue and Tuk tuks are cheap and plentyful, you just need to plan your day.

Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate so we couldn't enjoy the view as much as we had hoped for. Still impressive to wake up in the clouds!

It is a beautiful property and very well maintained. As the name suggests, the inside decor very well resembles to a castle. The staff were also great. Will definitely recommend.

On reaching the property, we were informed that there will be no dinner from due to non-availability of chef. Given the location is hill top so during evening you need a vehicle to come down at the marketplace for food. Luckily we had a car, so even though it got dark we managed. It would have been good, if they informed before as the location is away from the market. Having said that, it could be a one off day but would recommend to do timely communication in future.

This hotel was so adorable and quaint. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the bed was so comfortable. Staff were also lovely.

Very kind and nice staff. Always there to help when we need. Delicious food and they are ready prepare what ever we ordered even it not in the menu. Highly recommend to all. We will surely come back again. Best place to stay in Nuwaraeliya. 👍❤️

Very nice room in a castle with a comfortable bed and an amazing view. Breakfast was really tasty.

We had to wait 45 min for our breakfast. People that came after us received their breakfast before us.

Staff were lovely and everything was ok...Just felt that is was a little average. Breakfast was poor. There wasn't a nice vibe. For the price I think there are better options around the area
