Struttura bellissima. Camere pulite, ampie, arredi molto curati.
The staff was very helpful
Difficulty sleeping due to dogs outside the hotel and barking noises . Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The hotel is very expensive compared to the services and standard of accommodation it offers. The furniture is old and needs renovation, and the room was not up to my expectations. I expected a much better experience for the price I paid, so I don't think the hotel offers good value for money. There is no entrance specifically for people with disabilities.
Tucked up in the hills this sophisticated accommodation is a 5 star experience. The staff are excellent, the food is excellent & the views from the tea plantation is excellent. We felt like we were in the movie Out Of Africa but Sri Lanka will do. Breakfast on the lawn was exceptional. You do need a car or driver for this accommodation or the hotel can provide. We didn’t want to leave.

Charm of the colonial era style villa
Very good stay at the Oliphant ! The personnel is top level, so attentive and caring. A great stay overall ! We strongly recommend 😊
Wundervolle Lage, tolles Personal.
Beautiful position and lovely gardens. Great walks through the tea plantation with stunning views. The food was delicious and very friendly and helpful staff
Lovely tea bungalow with excellent staff
Loved this little cottage set high in Sri Lankan mountains...
Nada
the hotel has a wonderful history and is very well preserved and maintained for the period of the building. Garden and the decor are lovely. We really enjoyed the original gigantic bathrooms and the wonderful bedrooms.
Internet did not work well at all - the restaurant was very expensive as were the drinks even if the food was very good. Breakfast was great
Everything, right from the property, room, location, surroundings, cleanliness to a very friendly staff. Our stay at Oliphant Boutique Villa by Amaya was nothing short of magical. The photos online simply do not do justice to how stunning the property is in reality—the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beautiful surroundings, the lush gardens, and that charming old-world elegance seamlessly blended with all modern comforts. Despite delays in our check-in due to heavy rains, the staff were patiently waiting for us with warm smiles. From the very first moment, they made sure we felt comfortable and welcomed. Every member of the team was humble, polite, and incredibly respectful. A special shoutout to Laxman, who took care of us throughout our stay. His attentiveness and kindness truly made a difference. We also travelled with our 5-year-old, who is quite picky with food, yet the kitchen staff went out of their way to prepare dishes he would enjoy. This level of personal care was deeply appreciated. The food was exceptional—far beyond our expectations. I strongly recommend opting for half board or full board, because every meal was a delight. We stayed for four days and honestly wished we had booked even more. Oliphant was the standout stay of our entire Sri Lanka trip. The peaceful atmosphere, stunning views, lovely heritage charm, and world-class hospitality make it a place we would return to without a second thought. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Nuwara Eliya—Oliphant Boutique Villa is an experience you won’t forget!
Nothing.
Personal äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Essen war ebenfalls überraschend gut. Alles sehr sauber.
Staff were fantastic! Property is wonderful
Relaxing & comfortable stay with AMAZING food. Seriously. Best food I’ve ever had from a hotel/villa. The staff was super attentive and kind. Also, beautiful location and garden. I loved just sitting outside and taking in the scenery.
It’s a little drive from the town centre but it’s worth it to stay at such a nice place.
The location, service, food everything
There is nothing one can dislike here
Everything, room size, bathroom size, facilities, food and location

Lokalizacja, atmosfera i otoczenie miejsca. Doskonały serwis i bardzo życzliwa obsługa.
Nie mam uwag
The two of us spent three nights at Oliphant Boutique Villa. We had a superb time with exceptional care being taken by all staff. We had an excellent well-appointed room to ourselves. The room was well heated in the chill weather we encountered. The food was again very good - both breakfast and dinner - we enjoyed during our stay. The Villa is situated in a large property, the erstwhile Oliphant tea estate, so one can walk around or bask in the sun. It is a very quiet place.
The only drawback was the remote location - reached by a long winding road. Nuwara Eliya town is a short five minutes drive.
The staff and service were very attentive and proud of their service. The food was excellent. The room very spacious and gardens very pretty. But as the weather was a little cooler and misty high up in the mountains, we couldn't eat outside in the gardens, but the dining room with the fire was still lovely
The villa is 15 minutes drive from town up a hill, great for view from the tea garden but not too convenient. Probably only need one night in nuwara eliya. Nice place
We liked hospitality, comfort , location everything, staff are very co opearative, food is good , cleanliness 👍🏻
I like everything here
The location, the staff and the food.
beautiful colonial charm and peaceful tea estate surroundings. The rooms were spotless and cozy, and the staff made us feel truly cared for. breakfast was thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delicious
Old colonial bungalow with an attractive garden . Very comfortable and clean room.
There was no information available or given by the staff about the history of the bungalow and tea plantation or how to access local attractions. Having arrived in the rain from Nanu Oya station we asked if lunch was available but after waiting over half and hour we gave up and went out to find something locally . The website stated that they arranged a taxi to pick you up from the station and a car to take you to Horton Plains . However we were left to arrange our own transport. Drinks menu didn't show the real price . VAT was added after. The breakfast we were given to take with us on the morning of our trip to Horton Plains was very basis and not up to the standards provided by other places. Felt isolated and didn't have the experience we had expected of staying in an old tea estate .We didn't have a car or a private driver and we were left to sort out transport etc on our own . This wasn't our experience in all the other hotels we stayed in which is ironic as this was a special treat. We won't recommended it to other travellers.
Location and ambience
Limited meal choice
The staff was very welcoming and the food was excellent.
The bed was not very comfortable.
Immaculately clean, staff very helpful
No sun loungers, no bar area
Beautiful peaceful location out of town, beside the highest village in Sri Lanka. Surrounded by tea plantations and other small cultivations, and inside the grounds is a perfectly tended garden and very professional welcome from the small team. Short walks available to a viewpoint amongst the tea. Room and bathroom both spacious and as in the photos. Dinner and breakfast both delicious. The banana bread in particular! No problem to order us a taxi to go to the station the next morning too. More expensive than the average accommodation, but certainly value for money compared to other similar high-end “boutique” accommodations in Sri Lanka (which can start at $900 per night - and I’m not sure the extra butler would be worth the difference!)
Very luxurious room, great dinner onsite, spectacular location - just a short walk to a beautiful view of the surrounding tea plantations.
Non alcoholic drinks with dinner were quite expensive.
Our two-night honeymoon stay at Oliphant in Nuwara Eliya was nothing short of magical. This beautifully preserved 1800s property, nestled within a tea plantation, perfectly balances historical elegance with intimate boutique hotel service. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, especially during my husband's birthday celebration. They arranged beautiful room decorations and even helped me in surprising my husband with a cake – touches that made the occasion truly special. The hotel's location is a highlight, offering peaceful morning walks through the surrounding tea plantation. The property's rich heritage is evident in every corner, providing an authentic glimpse into Sri Lanka's colonial past. Special mention must go to Lakshman, whose attentive service really made our experience special. The entire staff demonstrated professionalism while maintaining a warm, personal approach. The food was delicious and the chef went out of his way to prepare a beautiful cake for us during our stay! For those seeking a tranquil retreat in Nuwara Eliya with impeccable service, Oliphant is an outstanding choice. It's perfect for couples wanting an intimate, peaceful escape with personalized attention.
Nothing!
Nestled amidst a serene tea plantation, this hotel in Nuwara Eliya offers a truly unique and picturesque getaway. The beauty of the property is breathtaking, with lush green hills and rows of tea plants stretching as far as the eye can see. You’re surrounded by nature, making it a peaceful escape from city life. The staff deserves a special mention for their warmth and hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed by their friendliness and attentiveness. They went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable, making our stay even more enjoyable. The rooms are clean, cozy, and well-designed to blend with the natural surroundings, allowing guests to relax and unwind fully. Waking up to views of misty hills and fresh tea plantations was a highlight. Overall, if you’re looking for a tranquil experience combined with beautiful scenery and exceptional service, this hotel is a perfect choice. Highly recommended for nature lovers and those seeking a relaxing retreat in the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country.

One of the most beautiful Villa I have ever stayed , Staff is super efficient, The garden around the villa makes you fall in love with it, we had amazing time !
-
Breakfast was amazing. We personally got to meet the chef and the Sri Lankan breakfast was made to order to perfection
Include more options for the Sri Lankan food. We are rich in culture and should encourage more options
We had a great short stay at Oliphant Villa! Right from their beautiful vintage property to the exceptional service and staff. The food was amazing! They even packed up breakfast for us when we had to leave really early for our flight. Would love to go back again!
- Very nice location and good if you want to have complete calmness and quietness. - There are some activities on site, which you can do, e.g. badminton, chessboard, walking around in the tea plants. It’s a bit away from the city centre but we did not mind this. - It’s a rather small hotel with only few rooms. If you prefer to stay more anonymous during your stay, it might not be the right thing for you as the staff is very attentive at all times and tries to give you a very individual treatment.
- The food (we booked half-board) was very good but in comparison to other locations in Sri Lanka a bit pricey.
Location was great .. Breakfast was amazing. Everyday they served breakfast as per our liking .
Gorgeous hotel, lovely staff, best breakfasts we’ve ever had!
Quite noisy
The staff was great, the location around tea plantations was amazing.
Generally the ambient of the place was disappointing. At this price range I was expecting more character and charm as I have experienced in different SriLanka locations.
We loved everything about the place, despite the less-than-ideal weather, which was rainy, windy, and rather cold for the end of July. The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making us feel right at home. A special shout-out to the chef, whose culinary expertise made our stay truly unforgettable.
Every thing... Place clean food amazing... Imagine they have coconut Jam in breakfast made by the chef didn't test the same anywhere... If I start about their food will not end we prefered to have our meals in the villa because of the food quality and test... Place amazing their staff helpful and smiling all the time... If I will go to Nuwralia again this is the only place where I will sit
We stayed at this hotel for just two nights. As our stay was during low season, we (4 adults + 1 child) had the hotel to ourselves. The location of the hotel, although a little distance from the town centre, was superb. The staff (especially, Budhika, the Duty Manager) were exceptionally friendly and helpful - nothing was too much. The hotel was clean and the rooms were very comfortable. The food was of a high standard and, again, the Duty Chef was more than happy to meet our requests. We would highly recommend this 7 room boutique hotel.
the view was not as we expected
We stayed here a week ago and it left us heartfelt. I can say it was one of the best stays I have had. We arrived around midnight and once we reached they didn’t even feel exhausted to treat us. The hospitality was great, they helped us with everything and the chef did a great job. We loved the food a lot, it felt like home and the brownie he made left me speechless. And there’s a 2km walk up in the tea estate of the hotel where the view is amazing. I would strongly recommend it if you guys come to Nuwara Eliya :).
excellent one of a kind experience staying in the 160 year old property with good facilities. Great service by the friendly attentive staff. They also packed cookies and water thoughtfully for our onward journey
nothing in particular. If you are looking for an exclusive experience go for it
Excellent staff. Good location.
I feel it’s a bit costly. One can get a good branded 5 star propert like Marriot at this price.
Nice place with nice view, staff is also very friendly. Food is also good.
Nothing
Food was delicious. Calm environment and spacious garden. Supportive and polite staff
Roo did not have a fridge,
It's a gorgeous property with gorgeous views!
The bed was very uncomfortable. It's a spring bed with old mattresses which can be changed now to make them more comfortable. At the price they charge, beds have to be good!
Beautiful location, colonial style mansion, totally gives the right vibe. Team is next level pro. Great experience, would love to stay longer.
All was well, no complaints.
This is the highest hotel in Sri Lanka! It’s quite a drive there but 20 minutes away from the city center. If you are scared of mountainous drives don’t do it. The staff are friendly but the hotel can use a bit of love. It’s an old estate and it shows.
The location and the lack of entertainment options.
One of the best hotels in this little England like area. You will feel overdose nature here. Rooms are spacious, well maintained and clean. Price wise it is for sure not cheap, however for the same quality cottages you will have to stay in much expensive ones. Kind staff.
Great location and excellent personalised service
Staff is helpful and reliable Looks like a cottage, cute and nice Food is delicious Games available at the hotel
The room and facilities are clean, but I think it can be improved to be perfect. Price is a little high we thought
This hotel is a little paradise surrounded by lush green tea fields. Everything is outstanding: the check-in with a cup of tea from the local factories, the spacious and clean rooms, the delicious home-cooked curry for dinner, the nice staff and the breakfast, where everything is homemade, too. 10 Points for the homemade coconut jam!
Oliphant is located in the highest tea plantation in Sri Lanka. The hotel is an old colonial building used by the tea plantation and beautifully converted and preserved. We had a large bedroom and bathroom, beautifully furnished with a four poster and all comforts. It really felt like home from home. The location is spectacular. We had a couple of walks up the hillside through the tea plantations, and there are great views. It gets chilly at night, as it's so high, so take a layer (there are also heaters in the bedroom). In the daytime the sky was a brilliant blue. The staff were delightful and very attentive. The food (dinner and breakfast) was very high quality. They have a wonderful chef, who makes everything from scratch, including breakfast jams. I totally recommend their Sri Lankan curry for dinner. It was the best we had in Sri Lanka, delicate and full of flavour. Just be aware that it's freshly cooked so you need to give an hour's notice when ordering. We only stayed one night on our way to Yala, we would definitely stay for longer next time. Memorable and authentic, thank you to the staff!

Everything is perfect! Staff are very helpful and friendly. All facilities are clean and well maintained. Outdoor breakfast is a plus.

The breakfast was excellent and the service outstanding.
Super nice and attentive staff Great surroundings Very good restaurant, amazing breakfast Beautiful and spacious room
Nothing!
A big thank you to all the staff who was really attentive from the beginning to the very end. We really appreciated whole team including the chef because the food was really good and diversified. Dinner and breakfast package, top! The room was really nice and clean, maybe the bed was not the most comfortable but everything else was great. The place is really cute next to the tea plantation over the city, the garden is really beautiful.
It's not really from the hôtel but on our 3rd night a bunch of dogs were barking and playing in the garden at 2am... It was not every night but when you come to a place for vacation you're looking for rest and a good sleep. Maybe the fence should be closed where it's still possible for the dogs to enter the premises.
This is a gem in Nuwara Eliya. Small hotel which gives you a « home feeling». We were here for two nights and had a great experience! The surroundings are so beautiful, you can walk up to the tea plantations. We asked to have breakfast outside both days and it was really nice. The room and the bqthroom is spacious, beautifully decorated, The food is very good! And the staff is very polite and nice. I would highly recommend this place and definately come back. Not walkable distance to the city- which we knew, we had a car, and also used uber/pickme when we needed.
Some of the stray dogs from the nearby areas were barking in the middle of the night on our first day, but not the second day- i guess that is not something the hotel can control. But it didnt ruin our stay!
Traditional tea plantation managers bungalow set amongst the tea bushes at a high elevation.
There were no clear tea trails to walk and the bungalow was located some distance from the nearest town. The food was good but not exceptional with limited choice.
Excellent location in the midst of the tea fields. The hotel staff is very welcoming and the room was great. It was a very peaceful break in the nature.
Amazing attentive staff, clean rooms and nice location a little bit outside of the city which I prefer as it looked way nicer than any other hotel in town center. They did their best to meet our dietary requirements and requests, Sri Lankan dinner was especially delicious.
- no mini fridge, this is a must and it’s weird not to have one in the room - Wifi wasn’t working properly - a bit weird placement of Tv in the middle of the window that blocks the view But these are minor easily fixable things.
Everthing is perfect, it's the best hotel we live for this trip in Sri Lanka. We highly recommend this place. The bed is comfortable and the food is so good. We enjoyed the English traditional dinner a lot.
A very cosy ,peacefull ,relaxing and a well looked after property . The staff was extremely good especially the chef who cooked an excellent dinner and some lovely homemade cookies Definitely a place to recommend 👍👍👍
