Heated Pool Room Cleanliness Pond Location
Coffee in lobby was for 1 hour only. 5:30 to 6:30. No hot tub
The Quail Lodge is a wonderful place to hang out with the family for a long weekend
Nothing
Both Golf Course restaurant and Hotel Restaurant quite accessible and good. Rooms are quite spacious and California casual. Easy drive to Carmel by the Sea.
Nice clean property, comfortable bed, good shower.
The toilet was running, and most unfortunately the breakfast place across the street had shut down.
Beautiful views and very peaceful
I booked this hotel specifically to be able to have spa services at their spa. I reserved a massage, followed by a room reservation. Two days before I was scheduled to arrive, the spa cancelled my services due to an injury. I understand accidents happen. I then called the hotel to cancel my room reservation (really I would have rebooked the next time I am in the area but not anymore) and they informed me that because I was 1 hour past the time to receive a refund, (47 hours instead of 48hrs), irrespective of their own spa cancelling the service, they would not refund the booking. Never mind, that I called the moment I got off work and checked my email. Very disappointing customer service in accommodating their own short-coming. In this case, you don't get what you pay for, just high-end prices, substandard service.
Terrific room overlooking the pond. Staff was welcoming and responsive to all our needs. Great stay!
Todo
Me gustó todo.
We went for Monterey car week and it was a great place to stay.
Whilst the gym was nice, there wasn’t much equipment.
Aardig personeel.

Its was very good and experience with the
Since I had my birthday the day of the stay, we've received a complementary bottle of wine and an upgraded room! The staff was very nice. The room was amazing (bungalow on the golf course). We ordered a room service breakfast that was very nice and fresh! We will definitely come back soon.
The EV charger was out of order but a technician was there in the morning
Everything from the front desk to the excellent accomodations - we loved it! The grounds are beautifula and well maintained, love the 9 hole putting course, the service, restaurant, the area walking. Our room was clean, comfortable and roomy!
The location is secluded. The car is a must. The surroundings- ocean, views, nature, and forests are beautiful. Good for a quiet and relaxing stay. Rooms are clean and cozy. Equipment is in great shape. Furniture is of good quality.
Limited bicycles. No CCTV around, even though the hotel is open and its small buildings are scattered, and any passerby can enter. The area is safe, but it is dark and it is secluded, so a bit of security feeling may be needed for tourists and foreigners who are not used to this. The hotel is bsically for Golf lovers.
מלון מפנק שקט הכל ירוק בריכה נחמדה ומחוממת ארוחת ערב בתשלום אבל טובה צוות אדיב חניה חינם חדרים גדולים

Wonderful location on the Monterey Peninsula. First class accommodations - beautiful room, lobby, restaurants, and grounds. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant - delicious. Phenomenal golf course on property.
Beautiful landscaping. Very peaceful. Two evokes available and nearby trail. Every staff member we meet went out of their way to be helpful.
Price was not worth the experience
Great location and friendly staff
Resort is needing lunch provided on site. Hot and more resort amenities would be appreciated
מקום מושלם חדרים מדהימים על הנהר, שירות ברמה גבוהה, מלא פעילויות לילדים
This is a nice property and our bungalow is very comfortable. Nice bathroom products, robes, bed, very quiet etc. however, unfortunately, they nickel and dime you on some things. As with most places now, there is no mini bar (which is fine) but the bottled water they provide in room is a whopping $8 a bottle. Seriously? Also, there is nowhere in the vicinity to go buy water which 8’m sure is factored into the pricing decision. Many hotels now provide filtered water which you can help yourself to on the property. They provide lobby coffee feom 5.30am to 6.30am. I guess the resort guests must all be early risers. If you miss the 6.30 window, you can buy coffee at their coffee bar that opens at ….you guessed it….6.30am. Also, the pet fee is $150 per pet. Wow! Again, I don’t mind paying a pet fee, but this, like the water, is gouging by anyone’s definition. For that $150 our extremely unobtrusive and well behaved dog is not allowed anywhere. We arrived yesterday and it was quite cold at night. We thought he might be welcome in the bar (not the restaurant) like at many Carmel places, but nope. The only place for us to consider eating dinner was outside on the cold patio. This is pet friendly in name only.
Good if a bit dated room. Clean. Excellent staff. Prompt responses to anything asked. Immaculate grounds.
All good and solid.
The resort offers several amenities, especially if you’re into golf. Otherwise there is a fitness center (basic), a spa room is available, and there is an outdoor heated pool. Parking available. Not enough firepits.
I booked this room specifically for the view, which was clearly advertised in the room description and photos. Instead, I was given a dark room with no view at all. At over $600 per night, I honestly felt ripped off. I raised the issue at check-in, but I wasn’t offered another room. I had even contacted the hotel in advance to explain it was a birthday gift, and they assured me it would be a great choice for the occasion. I regret trusting that recommendation as it simply wasn’t worth it. NB: Only one restaurant is open for dinner during the week…
The staff was very pleasant. The grounds were very nice. The house keeping service was great. The room was a good size. The grill at the main lodge was good too.
Not the hotel's fault, but there were a lot of families with little kids. Loud little kids. Our room was on the pond and there were some loud frogs at night.
Super clean

We loved the spacious room. Beautiful villa type style. The room view was ok. It was part of a putting green. So we did not keep our shades open because so many people were right outside our room putting. That was the only downside. Everything else was wonderful during our stay. Hotel cleaning staff were amazing. I never saw them but every night our room was beautifully cleaned and well supplied with amenities.
I did not like the putting green view. It felt way different than the online pictures. I felt privacy was limited. We had to keep our shades shut because of the foot traffic on the putting green.
The Quail is a beautiful property with elegant décor, spacious and comfortable rooms, and impeccably maintained grounds. The staff was warm, welcoming, and provided excellent service throughout our stay. We also enjoyed several delicious meals at the restaurant, which was a highlight of our visit. The only downside was the noise. Because the guest rooms are adjacent to the putting greens, there were frequently children yelling and screaming just outside our room. We were awakened by the noise each morning, and one evening it continued until around 10:00 p.m., when we had to call the front desk. With better management of the noise around the putting greens, it would be an even more relaxing experience.
The Quail has been our go-to happy spot in Carmel for a decade or so. The friendly staff, accommodations and high standards have remained constant for all that time. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the grounds gorgeous and there is easy access to Carmel-By-The-Sea beaches and village. My husband and I highly recommend The Quail for special occasions or just a relaxing getaway!
Love the location, facilities and dog friendly resort.

Rooms are excellent and layout of the property gives privacy and access to facilities in a natural way. Also location was great close to Carmel and an ideal place to go down to Big Sur.
Currently known as "The Quail" is a wonderful resort about 4 miles from downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. It was great being a little bit away. This resort has a golf course, but also a 9-hole putting green great for EVERYONE. One big highlight was the complimentary s'mores you can use at their various fire pits. There is a great heated pool, and the masseuse at the spa was awesome. Understandably, some may believe cost is high, but there is a high value to the experience. Highly recommend.
We have stayed once before and this stay, again, did not disappoint! The bedding, pillows and mattress are amazing! I had the best night of sleep and the next day ordered the pillows! The rooms are very spacious and I believe all have balconies. I highly recommend staying here!
It was beautiful, and the rooms had these little front or back patios, super cute
I like everything
Although my wife and I have been annual visitors to the quail over the last few years, I wanted to do another review to recognize their consistent quality. On this visit we were upgraded to a Villa room for the first time staying in one of those. If you select one of these rooms, you will not be disappointed. They have high quality amenities and furnishings including their own outdoor furnishings, fire pit, heaters and private patio areas. I also wanted to recognize the front desk staff and wait staff at the Edgars restaurant, because even though there has been turnover from year to year recently, they continue to provide excellent service, which I believe shows an attention by management to provide excellent training. There was also a planned (but unknown to us until we checked in) power outage from 9-noon the morning after we checked in. We were notified at check-in and also with a letter in our room (with apologies), and it was only a minor inconvenience. We did spend a couple of hours of that time in the comfortable lobby, and while we were there the General Manager, Winchel, came over to chat with us. He apologized about the outage and inquired how our stay was so far. He also spent several minutes with us going over expected upcoming upgrades to the property, which was interesting, and gave us confidence that we would be enjoying our future visits. As with past recent visits, we were totally relaxed at the end of our stay!
While the location is away from town, it is a relaxing retreat that only takes minutes more to get to. Very peaceful, comfortable accommodations.
We only had breakfast there and it was pricey, but fast and well prepared.
Loved our first time here, but not our last! The resort is beautiful, the staff very friendly, and excellent customer service. Nice clean rooms, great breakfast. The only drawback is paying $50 per day for our dog, however that really limited us. We couldn't take advantage of the 9 hole putting green, nor enjoy the pool. Not sure I have a solution, however maybe exceptions when there is no one else on the putting green or pool. As one evening the pool was empty and our well behaved dog would have just chilled.
Our family enjoyed the pool and the miniature golf experience as well as the lovely grounds,
We were not able to get adjoining rooms, even though they were requested several months in advance. Also, the hotel restaurant menus were not available in our rooms or at the front desk.
Average....lost sleep to a loud TV on at 11:30pm.....team was finally able to shut it off. Breakfast way overpriced. Pickleball was fun, but when trying to make the reservation over 12 hours in advance, the golf staff made me feel like it was an "inconvience", and that every court was booked and they were doing me a "favor". Oh -- No one on the courts for an hour before or an hour after our "reservation". Hmmm.. Beds comfortable. Shower leaked, one sink in the corner - all odd. Left laptop in security locker (hidden deep into the closet) - charged $75 to send it to residence. For the lack of sleep, would have thought they would have sent it no charge. Won't return.
Beautiful location. I needed a stress break and the surroundings were great.
The toilet did not work when I checked in. I fell asleep with the TV on and at some point it turned off and then would not turn back on at all. I checked out early due to the disappointment with the facilities.
I have been in the hotel business for over 40 yrs......representing hotels to book meetings & conventions. I am now retired but during my career, my wife & I have travelled the world & stayed in some of the best hotels & resorts in the world. The Quail is one of our favorites & has become our home away from home. The combination of superb facilities, exceptional staff & beautiful grounds make this the ideal resort in Carmel. Also---great value & unbelievable golf course. It is a must stay when you're heading for Carmel
Clean beautiful great bike path
No prix fixed dinner on Wednesday
Always very well kept and relaxing. Beautiful grounds!
Hotel claims to have ev chargers, but they don’t work. Don’t stay here if you need an overnight charge!
high-end feel and it didn't feel like a hotel
The bar closed a few minutes early (10 minutes) before getting something to drink.
My wife and I have been to Quail several times in the past few years. It’s an exceptional upgrade from 15-20 years past. The reception staff are wonderful. The breakfast service and food choices are perfect. The golf course staff are terrific, and the golf course is in great shape. Our room had a lovely view of the lake. We recently brought friends who hadn’t been there for 20 years, and they loved it. They will be coming back too.
My husband and I were celebrating our 30th anniversary and Quail Lodge did not disappoint. The room was amazing, the resort peaceful and the staff so pleasant. We golfed, ate amazing food and had a fabulous time. Honestly, I wish we had taken this trip sooner. We will be back.
Been going to Quail lodge for years and was just there a month and a half before the last visit. They greet me with “have you ever stayed with us??? This time they put me on 2nd floor in room 246- I have stayed in that building before with no issues. This room is obviously not one they should rent out- it is the last room on that side and anytime somebody uses the water taking showers, flushing toilets you will here it running really load for 30 seconds- it is nonstop since it is a pretty large building and people seams to be using their bathrooms in the middle of the night also. I told them my issue, and she said she would make a note that I did not like the room for my next stay??! They then texted me asking how the stay is and I said it was not great since this is unbearable not being able to sleep listening to plumbing all night and she then writes back that I should know better and not pick that building next time?? Didn’t see it in the description when I booked with them… Really put off how little they care so we ended up checking out first thing in the morning and not a word from the manager- seems more like a cheap hotel and we had all our dinners with them, 2 breakfast and also played golf so not sure if they feel we are cheap? Not planning on going back
I grew up in Carmel and my family is there. As my own family has grown, we have gotten to the point where we like staying at Quail and having our own space/not intruding on family for an extended period of time. It also makes going home feel extra special, like a little vacation. They always take wonderful care of us, the food is excellent, the staff is warm and welcoming, and the location is great. We enjoy the wine hour in the afternoon, my kids love the pool and s’mores in the evenings. For us, it is perfect and feels like home. I saw that one reviewer said it feels dated…I have not experienced that. My rooms have always been updated and also, Carmel sometimes feels a little old fashioned. It isn’t the big city and that’s the appeal. Until recently, there were no addresses downtown, homes were quite modest, and people prefer to be understated. That’s part of the charm of the area. I highly recommend Quail Lodge.
Beautiful grounds, tranquil location, very clean room, and easy parking. Close enough to the tourist areas for convenience, yet far enough away to feel peaceful and relaxing. It was the perfect setting for our getaway!
Spacious, fireplace, outside firepits.
Pullout couch not very comfortable
Spacious, quiet, great breakfast in restaurant.
Shower doors not sealed well, leaked.
Thoughtfully planned and comfortable rooms with all amenities. Staff was super warm and helpful. Beautiful environment and hotel grounds.
Peaceful and well maintained.
The bartender could have been more welcoming and prompt when we sat for drinks.
Great room with fine amenities such as coffee, lounge area, balcony, and canned water.
Provided breakfast and a hot tub.
I love this hotel along with my friends. The rooms are spacious and charming. Some even overlook a beautiful pond. There is a golf course attached to the hotel, which is very popular. The hotel also has a heated swimming pool and a putting green complete with putters and golf balls. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is always a treat. My friends and I have been spending a three-day mini vacation there every year, and we will continue to do so in the future.
Staff was amazing. They were tentative, understanding, and friendly. The property was very clean, from the bathroom to the parking lot. Lake view room was very nice but the frogs sounded like they were in bed with us. Overall amazing and we will be coming back.

Bed was very confortable
Asked for information about bedding when we checked in and never received it.
Mooie kamers in soort bugalows met terras en koffiefaciliteiten aan golfbaan
niets, alles was prima.
The queen bungalow room was great for me and my two kids. Plenty of room and we especially like the patio extension to the bungalow. Breakfast was decent and staff was generally pleasant.
The bathroom is looking dated and we had issues with bugs in our room. We did keep the door closed and found random flying critters, mainly in the bathroom.
Big roomy room
Beautiful grounds, variety of things to do, spacious room, homelike feel, great restaurant and food, sweet and caring staff
Nothing
Easy access to rooms but campus like feel.
A little aged. Workout facilities weirdly small and divided up. No hot tub was irritating
Ther grounds
The staff did not care about giving decent service! The in room meal service was the worst I have ever seen in a hotel. Not one time did they get the orders right.
BED WAS GREAT
YAPPING DOG ON UPPER FLOOR BY POOL AND HOT DOG AT EDGARS. HOT DOG WAS BOILED AND NOT WARM. SHOULD HAVE BEEN FRIED AND BUN WAS POOR.
It was gorgeous, peaceful and quiet.
Wie immer sehr schön! Großes sauberes Zimmer mit bequemen Betten und Poolblick :)
- Loved the facilities. - Great activities including a putting course for kids and adults, heated pool and easter activities for kids. - Great vibe - Good food and ambience at the restaurant - 10 min drive from carmel town and point lobos
The housekeeping service can be more mindful to not wake people up at 8am - and to definitely not try to enter the room if not answered - especially on checkout day.
Nice location and environment.
Place was a little dated for the money.
The property is beautiful. The pool is very nice and the staff was friendly. It's walking distance from Baja Cantina Mexican restaurant. Free e-bike rental. Free coffee and tea in the lobby if you can get there between 5:30-6:30am (but the hot water machine was out of order.) Best Regards, The Quail Team
I had let them know in advance it was our 30th wedding anniversary. We rented two rooms for ourselves along with another 4 rooms for our group. They responded "Congratulations! I will go ahead and add notes on your reservation regarding your 30th Anniversary celebration." I thought maybe a card or bottle of wine? Nope, nothing. And our room was upstairs without an elevator and less nice than others in our group. Disappointed.
literally everything. Our room was amazing, bed was comfortable, and the pillows were fantastic.
again, literally everything the surroundings are beautiful. The food at the restaurant was amazing.
The beautiful lush grounds, peaceful environment and welcoming environment.
Room was excellent , comfortable for two. The Golf Putting was good and had fun. The overall property is big . We enjoyed the pickle ball game as well . Breakfast was excellent, and dinner in the mexican place was excellent.
In the nights , the property gets really dark and has very less lights . This is not a con but cant enjoy the overall views . The restaurant inside the property does not have much options so the outside mexican is good. All of these are bit costly
The rooms were comfortable, comfortable beds, and good layout. Beautiful property outside with nice common areas.
There was a sewer odor coming from the drains in the room which the staff addressed on day two and provided partial compensation for the inconvenience. Also, the room’s patio sat directly across from the restaurant, so did not feel private
We loved everything. Our room was quite large. The bed was extremely comfortable. The Covey Bar Grill was good. Staff were always kind and accommodating. I found Quail to be luxurious, upscale and unpretentious.
The quail omelet is excellent
Nothing
Grounds are fabulous
All was well
Extremely well kept property and rooms. They have a lot of complimentary activities. Staff is extremely nice and helpful.
NA
The property is located on peaceful and beautiful grounds.
Very decent, clean, and cozy. I also want to note that the restaurant was far better than others in Carmel in terms of the service, ambiance, and food quality offered incredible value for the price.
