Goede menukaart, met aparte glutenvrije kaart. Vriendelijk personeel, goede lokatie.
Hotel heeft wat onderhoud nodig, ook omdat het al een oud gebouw is.
The staff were friendly, bed very comfortable. Breakfast was good
Too many stairs, very tatty. Needs a good update, carpets need replacing and refurbishment
Very central Large rooms Good breakfast
We asked for a quiet room to the back of the builing on the second floor - we got a first floor room facing the street. Without any communication. Needs a bit of an update, quite pricey for what you get
Weinig.
Very basic, you get what you pay for. Food in the pub was very good value for money and the staff were excellent
Nothing to really complain about
Food and service good
Bath panel off bath and empty pop tins underneath bath, paint on ceiling was peeling off , door to room hard to open from the inside, also had ambulance crew knocking at 1020pm waking me up. When I told staff about the bath panel one just took it as a joke saying ' there is a bin in the room " when I explained about the bath panel hanging off and the rubbish underneath the bath.
Shower was good water pressute and temp easy to control
Breakfast good but avo was from a tube. Smoking areas were right at each door we needed to get in or out of the hotel.
A good central location.
The toilet had skid marks in it when we arrived. It hadn’t been cleaned properly, if at all! It was hot weather so there was a portable fan in the room. Unfortunately the fan was absolutely covered in dust. It was disgusting. The only meal we ate there was overcooked. Breadcrumb covered chicken that was dry and tough.
Staff pleasant and helpful. Bike storage available. Breakfast OK. Good central location.
The building and rooms are badly in need to maintenance / upgrading. Carpet in restaurant filthy. Wallpaper and follor covering in room and bathroom cracked and peeling. Shower leaking.
Location & staff.
The bed had no headboard and due to wooden trucking along the base of the wall the beds could not be pushed up against the wall. So there was a gap between the wall and the bed. The pillows kept falling into the gap. So I jammed the other pillows into this gag.
The room was clean and comfy, with all necessary facilities. The meal I ordered for dinner was fine - typical 'pub grub' but good and reasonably priced. I had breakfast next morning and a pleasant surprise as what I ordered (toast with avocado and egg plus coffee) was £1 cheaper than I expected. Also there were cereals, pastries, fruit and juices available at no extra charge.
My only grumble would be the noise! The night I stayed the pub was hosting a charity event which included karaoke. It was all very loud, but I imagine an 'ordinary' night would be quieter!
STAFF AND BREAKFAST
FAMILY ROOM AT TOP WHEN LOWER ROOM REQUESTED. Toilet bowl disgusting and room move requested. ROOM MOVE TO LOWER LEVEL MEANS NO NOTICE WAS TAKEN OF REQUEST FOR ACCESSIBLE ROOM
A comfortable pit stop on a p9ng journey. Parking was a bit of an issue and although the kitchen was closed, a cheese sandwich was rustled up to stave off hunger pangs
Parking and inconsiderate vans from a neighboring building site taking up guest spaces.
Basic; clean and cheap. These 3 words capture my experience. The rooms are big and have the basic features but the facilities are tired and need a proper freshen-up. Stayed in a room next to the kitchen exhaust; the noise stopped at 9:30pm and started at 7am. Would not stay here for more than one night.
Good nights stay
Das Personal wa bemüht und freundlich.
Das Zimmer war sehr unsauber, der Boden hatte Unebenheiten und Löcher es standen zwei Defekte Ventilatoren darin, die Dusche war undicht.
Absolute joke!! Parking is limited so good luck!! Restaurant had food on floor, tables dirty. Receptionist was rude, not helpful and couldn’t care less!! His attitude was that he didn’t want to be there! I know the hotel is old but it was extremely higher in temp than outside!!! No air conditioning. Room was stifling there was a small electric fan which did nothing, bathroom extractor didn’t work, wallpaper torn , no headboard hence the pillows covered the light switches. Did not sleep a wink! Was booked for 2 nights but left in the morning and booked in elsewhere
Absolutely nothing!!!
Problem getting car parked, entered the restaurant door and there was food on floor, looked dirty. Checking in and the reception staff was so rude, unhelpful and wasn’t really interested in his job. Explained no car parking spaces, where do we park he shrugged his shoulders and said possibly at another pub but will cost money or go somewhere over to the back of hotel, not helpful!!! Hotel was hotter than outside!! Room was so stuffy, only small fan which did nothing. Bathroom fan didn’t work, no headboard, pillows covered the light switches, wallpaper torn, carpet didn’t look clean. We didn’t sleep much due to heat! Never had breakfast and never went back for our second night. Basically paid money for nothing thing!! Booked in somewhere else for our second night!
Rooms and public spaces in desperate need of a refurb Rooms were red hot with only a fan to blow warm air around car park very tight
Not a lot
Roaring hot room with overheating fans, dirty bathroom, filthy mattress, cold water tap ran hit, carpets in main area and room dirty and threadbare
Location fine but Andover is run down Bedding and bathroom clean and acceptable
Property is run down and tatty. Carpet in the eating area is a discrace
We stayed in room 12 which was a total disgrace. So many maintenance issues with peeling paint, shower screen leak flooding the floor, soap dispenser broken, toilet roll holder falling off the wall, fan not working, door handle not working, mould on shower screen frame, the list is endless! Reported all the faults to the duty manager and wanted him to see them, but he said he was aware of all the faults! So why rent a room in this totally unacceptable condition? He did process a full refund and apologised. Marston’s should be embarrassed to rent rooms in this condition. Avoid this hotel at all costs!
Nothing
Everything,, staff, prices, room.
Brilliant staff. Really friendly and helpful 10 out of 10. Clean comfy bed. Clean towels.
Room 07 just needs some tlc. A good clean and lick of paint to spruce it up. A new well fitted carpet.
Probably the worst meal ever. I ordered sirloin rare which was brought as a tough medium and nearly unchewable. The mushrooms were dry and shrivelled. My friend had a hunters Chicken. When it arrived she asked where the sauce was and was told it was on the chicken but we couldn't see it. She asked for more barbeque sauce and was given sachets! The meat was dry and she only managed to eat half the chicken. We were so disappointed, we didn't bother with a sweet. To be fair to the bar staff were were credited with a drink each
It’s a good atmosphere,friendly people,nice environment
La stanza era ampia e il personale disponibile
La struttura è vecchissima e in terribili condizioni. C'erano due ventilatori mezzi rotti, la finestra in pessime condizioni, il pavimento tutto storto e anche le scale.
An ideal location for us, and a very welcome spacious room. We were on a walking trip, so the bath was a definite bonus for the aching legs and feet. Very friendly and helpful staff made it a great stopover for us.
Excellent petit déjeuner. Personnel très accueillant et sympathique.
We only visited this venue to meet up with family for a meal. I was so surprised to see how run down the place is. The outside seating areas are dinghy with unsafe chairs and in need of a good clean before sitting on them. Plastic flowers hanging over black beams thick cobwebs everywhere. Only needs brushing!!!!. The inside was no better filthy carpets and furniture sticky tables and bar. In desperate need of a good clean. The toilets were even worse. Dark dinghy brown loose seats absolutely filthy and smelly. Very few customers in the bar and restaurant area so no excuses the staff were not busy ( only propping up the bar chatting) so could of easily kept things in order. I will say the food was exceptable hot and well cooked but very small portions for the price. I am really surprised that a large chain like Marstons allow this place to be run like this compared to other places in the local area run by them and suggest they send in a mystery customer to see for themselves how dirty and rundown the place is. I would never choose to go there again or recommend to anyone else
Thanks lovely and friendly Staff
Scaffolding outside in the back
Very good location
Very old and creaky Needed to be able to open the windows properly and the fan was useless
Food took 40 minutes to come out, gluten free meal was wrong & had to go back and other meal was then cold when it eventually appeared. Lad who brought meal was petulant when asked why.
Niets
We went on a Monday for pie and a drink for 13.99 with 25% off if you went on a Monday. The slate under the bar actually stated pie and a pint was 13.25 which we pointed out and were told that it was old. The food was excellent but we were very confused by the bill. There were 2 drink totals on our bill which we did not expect since we ordered 2 pies and expected the two 13.99 listed to include the drink. The bill allowed 4.89 as the discount. When I pointed all of this out I was told that the drinks were not free and eventually the gentleman did agree that 4.89 was not 25% of 2x 13.99 the total of the meal. It was a real shame since we waited until a Monday to go expecting to get our 2 pie meals and our 2 drinks for 27.98 less 25%. The place and food was great but the price was not as advertised.
Close to everthing
Rooms are in need of major overhaul bathrooms falling apart, carpets in pub filthy and threadbare
Its location to the event I was attending.
The room was so mega hot, I started sweating within minutes so couldn’t sleep there. Instead I had to drive home in order to get a good night sleep
Staff where friendly, food and drinks not expensive.
Booked 2 rooms both small, 1st room could hear everything that was going on in the pud downstairs. 2nd room was a floor higher so didn't but was very warm. There was a fan on when entered room. No smoke head in 2nd room just the box. As room where st front or building could hear all the young merry kids outside till at least 2am.
Friendly staff, prompt service, tasty food and good value. Can't ask for more.
Location good
Better around do not use IMO, Rooms dirty, wallpaper falling of the walls, fans broken hols in bed base and generally old and dirty, not been updated since i last stopped there about 30 years ago by the look of it...
The staff were pleasant and the hotel was convenient for us. My room 19 was comfortable and quiet. The electric fan was appreciated as it was very hot.
Room 19 (my room) - the shower did not work but the bath was OK so I managed. Room 1 (my daughter and granddaughter) had several problems. The electric fan was not safely balanced and had no protective shield. When the shower was used it created a pool on the floor. The bath plug did not fit properly. Parking was a problem one night as a large van prevented our getting into the main car park although we we able to use the overflow one (with some difficulty).
Nothing at all.
This place is a mess. The "free car parking" is limited as it's a small pub car park, and after taking five hours to finally arrive approaching 9pm it was completely full. There was a small overflow, with the access blocked by a white van. I eventually squeezed into a space next to the scaffolding, guided by the Manager. In the morning, my car was blocked in by someone who apparently works at the restaurant next door. Thanks! The pub itself is what you'd expect, but the room needs refurbishment ASAP. It's dated, grubby, and the shower is basic at best. When I went for breakfast I noticed that the drip tray on the coffee machine appeared to have not been cleaned for quite some time, which was off putting in terms of cleanliness. After this I just checked out and went to Tesco for breakfast instead. Wouldn't recommend this place at all.
Friendly staff, clean room, parking on site, central location, good value Old hotel & quite tired but OK for a couple of nights.
I cannot believe that a national chain such as Marstons has the effrontery to rent out rooms on the state ours was in.
Staff were polite and welcoming . Clean bedding.
The hotel room was not clean and the curtains were not fit for purpose. They were not hung. Parking was challenging with scaffold and small carpark . Lots of stairs not suitable for people with any element of limited mobility . Dirty carpets. Felt grim.
nothing
Stained beds / Holes in floor / Mould in wardrobe / Flies in room
Good location
I ended up sleeping on a wet towel on the floor underneath the window. This property is not fit for purpose. We were put in a room in the attic that was dangerously hot, with a window that barely opened, a fan that was too weak to be any use - you could not even feel it two feet away. Having now read the reviews on google, they are aware of this overheating issue and should never have sold the room. It was so hot my phone overheated just sitting on the side. Had my car not been locked in a public car park I would have paid to go somewhere else, but I was essentially trapped. Wasn’t particularly clean either. A terrible experience.
Comfortable bed Good breakfast
Very tired window wouldn't close
Location
Everything except the staff
Stayed for one night on 10th July in room 10 (twin room) paying £100 which included breakfast and cancellation option. Read the Tripadvisor reviews before booking and they weren’t too damning, many describing it as tired but adequate. Well unless we had the only awful room in the whole building I would say that is a huge understatement. Here is a comprehensive list of all the room’s faults - 1. Door lock very insecure and chain damaged so unusable. 2. Water stains on the ceiling. 3. Cracks in the painted over wallpaper. 4. Grubby walls and black marks on the walls behind the pillows due to lack of headboards. 5. Dust and fluff in the open areas of the wall unit below the mirror. 6. A pedestal fan which made a big noise but didn’t even create enough draft to blow a piece of tissue. 7. Disgusting cracked and broken lino in the bathroom with filth down inside the area where the floorboards had become exposed. 8. Loose toilet seat which was the incorrect size for the pan. 9. Mismatched taps on the hand basin. 10. Silicone sealant which was either missing or stained with mould. Moving onto the pub area itself which is also very grubby and tired but only used by us thankfully for breakfast (which was actually ok) it was noted that the carpet in the walk through to the self serve area was indescribably filthy reminding us of the carpets in night clubs of the 1970s , shiny and sticky with spilt drinks and other unspeakable substances. To add insult to injury our room was on the front overlooking Dominos pizza which is open till 3am so we had groups of late night revellers constantly hanging around shouting and yelling till way past 3.30 am which was then followed by an articulated lorry pulling up and unloading delivery cages for an hour. We obviously had to have the window open due to the above 30 degree temperature in the room so no sleep for the whole of the night. There were also boy racers with loud exhausts using the road as a race track all night. Take my advice don’t bother and just sleep in your car. Better still don’t go to Andover at all because it has nothing to recommend it in general. .
Was well located
Bit dated
recently stayed at this two-star property, and it is in desperate need of a major update. On the positive side, the bed itself was comfortable. However, the room suffered from significant external noise issues, making it difficult to rest fully. The most appalling part of the experience was the food, particularly the breakfast. The quality was completely unacceptable and a poor reflection of the chef, who honestly should not be appear outside the kitchen. I cannot recommend dining here until drastic changes are made.
We stay at the White Hart Andover every visit to Andover. Its central to most places, right in town near good restaurants. Then the rooms are clean and comfortable at a reasonable price Staff are always available to help.
Nothing its a perfect stay.
Olde world charm. Central location. Greatest choice of food on evening menu. My first choice of fish &chips wasnt not available but the big plate of Scampi and chips, was more than ample
Mine was the last room in the building. Up and down the few steps along the way. But it added to my daily steps count. If bringing your car, and you are lucky enough to get a free parking space. DONT MOVE YOUR CAR..(LOL)
Location was good
Rooms and buildings are not in the best of condition bedrooms and bathrooms require revamp, was staying here in a couple of weeks time but couldn't bring my wife here
Rooms are spacious but in need of TLC .
We are regular visitors of the White Hart as we have family in Andover. We always find the staff friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable
It was a hotel pub conveniently located in Andover.
The twin room number 10 was dirty, with broken wood around the window, the dresser had rubbish behind it. The wall paper was peeling from the walls & the ceiling had damp.
Lovely pub with excellent food.
The room was in need of a major refurbishment. We had to get a member of staff to clean the wc which obviously had not been done prior to our arrival. Not nice! It was very hot weather, and the windows barely opened, and despite having a fan, the room was far too hot to sleep. The bathroom had a towel rail that was piping hot and unable to turn off. Very uncomfortable night, not helped with an awful foam pillow.
Location was amazing, and practical for our needs. The food was good and the staff very helpful. The heat caused more problems than we expected, and although fans were provided, the age and place of the building meant that the heat made life uncomfortable during our stay. To be fair, I don't think anyone could have changed that. It would need air conditioning units in each bedroom. A thought for the near future.
Iced water for the fans to be more effective, or Iced water to keep customers staying the night hydrated.
Nicely located
No air con, the fan provided hardly moved any air at all
Very helpful staff as far as they were able. Bed was comfortable.
Room was hot and airless (mid June). Bldg was old and neglected, but not in a charming way.
The staff were incredibly attentive, striking that rare balance of being professional yet genuinely friendly. I would like to give a shout out to jake behind the bar who made me feel super welcome While the building is full of old-world character, the modernized amenities ensure you don't have to sacrifice comfort for aesthetic. Whether you are a fan of history or just someone who appreciates a really well-executed breakfast, I would highly recommend booking a stay here. It’s the kind of place that feels like a home away from home
The rooms are old but very beautiful. The noise was not too bad I ordered room service I felt bad though it was a bit hot upstairs thanks to all the staff specially Bryn and Sarah smith for keeping my room clean
The location is brilliant, staff were brilliant
I didn’t like much about the hotel it’s old & very run down.
Didn’t like how run down it was need updating badly when we first got there the room was wrong we was supposed to have a twin room for me & my sister & they tried to give us a double room then they changed it I ended up in a single child’s bed & it was to small & the second night we was there the electric kept going off so my sister had to keep going down to report it because no one would answer the phone 📱 as I was in the bath 🛁 so that wasn’t great & we was told on the day of check out we would have a refund for that night & it never happened so we won’t ever go back that’s for sure we was not impressed at all.
The bed was comfortable
Badly in need of some TLC
A clean and comfortable bed
The whole of the accommodation was very tired and in need of redecorating.
Everything
Nobe
Nice friendly staff and lovely room.
Parking was awful. Tiny car park and our car got damaged in it due to tjny spaces. Someone just opened their door on ours.
Fantastic location, lovely staff, fantastic experience
Stayed for one night. That was enough. Filthy, a thick film or dirt against the wall, broken bath. Disappointed to be fair.
Ticked the box. Good place to sleep whilst visiting family. Breakfast looked very good but we didnt have it - unfortunately :-)
Close to family
Great time at the white hart was looked after by jade dan and daisy always a great pint would recommend to everyone that s visiting andover, I'll be back tomorrow to meet the gang
The location is central for the town. There was parking on site. The rooms are of a good size and are clean. What really let it down was the poor quality of the meal we had on the first evening and the overall appearance of the hotel. It is in dire need of refurbishment. There is peeling paint on the ceilings, rotting window sills and rusty radiators.
The fact that our meal was so disappointing and we had to search for breakfast etc elsewhere... luckily Andover has plenty of eateries. Some of the staff utilise the car park for their breaks and our rooms were right above that area so it was noisy at times ... Also staff accommodation is close to residents rooms so doors were banging late at night and early in the morning as people go off and come on shift.
Very friendly staff. Very good location
Good location for catching cruise at Southampton. Staff were excellent and very friendly.
No real issues .
Grande chambre et baignoire
Un peu vétuste
The staff were very friendly. A great breakfast, set me up for the day. It's a bit dated, but is an old building, in the middle of Andover, and hopefully it will be there for another 200 years.
All good.
Central location Easy to find
No aircon, just a portable fan. Room 23 was very warm and the extractor in bathroom was permanently on. Parking difficult.
Location is great and staff are friendly. Value of drinks and food is fair. Usually everything is a bit more organised and breakfast is good value and poached eggs worth travelling for......
Breakfast wasn't included in the selected B.Com offer. On arrival, the room wasn't cleaned, made up or generally acceptable and really hot and oppressive (in the attic), so we were moved straight away..... ...to another room, lower down, which was still hot (no air con), and had a TV that did not work for the next four nights...
The room was constantly much too hot, when I tried to open the windows I found that they were sealed,no air circulating in the room, the last night of my stay was even worse with a temperature of 39 centigrade.
Ambience of the pub. Food and beer was excellent.
Nothing.
Great location in the centre of the town, Quirky old pub/hotel. Good food and friendly staff throughout. Rooms clean and comfy. Pleasant stay
Friendly staff , clean room and good breakfast
Very hot bedroom but a fan was provided
Very central location for a wedding reception. Lovely comfortable bed and super large bathroom.
N/A
Location right in town centre free parking friendly staff, the beds are massive and very comfortable
There's nothing to dislike, however the hotel is old, it's a bit of a rabbit warren to get to your room but to me it's part of the charm,on saying that it's well signed to find your room and reception
Good location, decent value.
Staff was fair. Didn't really go out of there way to help.
Easy location to find and car parking available. Rooms were large and easy to walk around.
It is dated but it also shows in some areas. We had a room at the front and the windows were difficult to close. The paintwork was old and flaky and needed a clean. Plus the secondary glazing didn’t keep out the noise. Also, the net curtains were very grubby and either need washing or changing.
Staff good Location good
Rooms very dated and not the cleanest
Centrale locatie in plaats. Ruime kamer
Veel kleine ruimten, hoogte verscillen tussen de aaneengeschakelde gebouwen
I stay here when I'm in Andover as it's excellent value. Right in the town centre so convenient for the shops. It's a beautiful old building with lots of character. The staff are excellent and the rooms comfortable. The hospitality tray has everything and is topped up every day. The breakfast is enormous and well cooked.
Nothing, it's a lovely place.
Breakfast was really good Very close to our reason for the visit, Thruxton Circuit
The food was good,(evening meal) the breakfast varied. Great location for Thruxton Curcuit.
The room was very tired and need a kick of paint ,windows rotting, quite noisy at night from the road and takeaways opposite. (If I had known, I would have asked for a room at the back.) The mattress was heavily stained. Thankfully, it had a mattress topper.
Staff were very accommodating after an issue with our room. Exceptional service and very friendly. Food was tasty and ghost chilli sauce was blinding! Definitely will return
The only saving graces were the cleanliness of the the very tired and badly maintained room and the super warm friendly lady at breakfast.
Where to start! Reception not easy to find from car park. Staff a little ´chilled’, room badly in need of decorating, paint peeling from pretty much everywhere. Neglect over a long period was obvious. A sofa bed ( why?) that forensics would have a field day on, I didn’t even want to put my bag on it, the only window that would barely open and threadbare carpets. Breakfast was a burnt offering, when the griddle was last cleaned who knows?? Everything was coated in black, even the quarter of tomato, yes quarter ! Value for money this is definitely not, I suggest you find somewhere else.
Good selection
Yet again problems with the kitchens , this time no eggs at breakfast last time the kitchen had been completely out of action
