Tokaanu Lodge Motel

Comfortable, affordable, full kitchen we literally jad everything we needed for a comfortable stay and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

The floor upstairs was very creeky and the table top not attached to the frame so we had a few close calls with the kids. BUT other than this everything was great. We would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone coming this way.

Prefect location for mountain skiing trip. Full day at Whakapapa and then returning to warm soak in the mineral pool at the lodge. Exceptional value for money. Staff were amazing. A genuine kiwi holiday stay.

Very spacious and warm. Lovely beds and just a really nice stay.

Amazing location especially if you plan on going up the mountains like we did. Super comfortable beds, heatpump was essential it heated the room up super quickly too. Gets a little stuffy upstairs though so be mindful of that as the heat gets trapped up there. Kids loved playing hide and seek and going up and down the stairs. Staff were so accomodating and welcoming. Definately planning on staying here more often.

Its not that i dont like it, it was super cute having them around. There are chickens/hens wandering around and so as you expect there will be poop.

I do not have any good comment at all.

There was absolutely no consideration or care shown toward the customer. I felt that the person was solely focused on making money and completely disregarded the customer’s enquiries. The service was extremely insincere and dismissive. This disrespectful attitude toward customers needs to be seriously addressed and improved.

The facility is in a good location.

The hot pools were not working properly. Either not warm, or overly hot, or not filled up. The oven was dirty so when we heated it up to cook something, and opened the door, the whole unit was filled with smoke. The smoke alarm didn't go off so obviously wasn't working.

The place has a strong unpleasant smell, and non usable Internet connection. Unkept and unclean. Too many beds for us but not enough plates or cutlery. Hens, ducks and cat around (charming but faeces all over the ground). We said we wanted the offered milk but we never got it. There was a mousetrap with cheese and everything on the window sill and a vermin repellent plugged in the socket bug after dark there were animal noises in the ceiling space.

Warm, cosy, sleeps many, hot pools on site, lovely atmosphere and near to ski fields.

Mineral pool lovely, filled freshly each day. Very helpful host. Clean and cosy. Heater was on when we arrived. Our family decided we always want to come here when we go skiing!

Wifi is patchy if that is an issue and beside road which isn't too bad but can hear traffic. The benefits of this place and value for money far outweigh these issues.

Best value we’ve ever had for a family including a dog. Super nice host and staff. Plus super friendly 8yr old doggie host + invited doggie play! Relatively close to National Park. Full kitchen facilities. Spacious loft with 4 beds!

The room was clean, bed was comfortable, besides traffic it was peaceful and quiet. The best part is you are literally a hop, skip and jump away from the Tokaanu Thermal Pools😍

Great kitchen facilities. Spa and cold plunge pool were a hit.

Queen bed in master room needed fixing - it slumped on one side but we fixed it by stuffing a pillow underneath the bed.

Comfortable has good heating. Nice 80s vibe.

Not much we didn’t like. Some things are a bit old but that’s part of the charm.

The beds were comfortable and the rooms we’re spacious. Helpful staff. Had everything we needed and was good value for money.

Hot pools were in and out of operation and when working it was too hot to use. It was a little disappointing.

Warm, cozy, not new but very clean. Plenty of space, three single beds upstairs and a separate double room downstairs. Functional kitchen, everything we needed, dining table and couch. Short walk down the road to the pools and a geothermal walk.

The upstairs is a mezzanaine so couldn't watch TV after bedtime. The wifi was a bit patchy.

Our accommodation was fine for one night. It was clean.

The wifi didn't work consistently. There wasn't enough seats for 4 people to sit comfortably despite the fact that the room slept five. There was no heater or fan in the bathroom. Incredibly dated and tired.

Loved the unit we had with 4 beds upstairs. We enjoyed playing pickleball and using the swings outside. Easy walk to geothermal walk and hot pools.

There were cobwebs in the rooms and dog poos on the grass.

Perfect location for our crew and was large enough to accommodate the lot of us. Nice and warm and such lovely staff.

Wish every room had a heat pump, most do but if one didn’t, that would be very unfortunate. And if all rooms could have an oven, would be handy.

Good family-sized accommodation with full kitchen. The hosts supply quite a few unexpected items, cooking oil, salt and pepper grinders, plunger coffee! The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils etc. The onsite mineral pools (2) were great, they are private, and the hosts change the water every other day. There are also commercial mineral pools down the road. In terms of noise, my unit was off the road, so only heard the odd sound here and there. Either way, the road is not that busy. Value for money is excellent.

Quirky, very comfortable and had more utensils, cutlery and kitchen supplies than anywhere else we stayed. Very homely with extra blankets and excellent service.

The hot pools were much too hot. Not a complaint as the service was wonderful and I know they would have shown me how to top up the cold water, I just left it too late in the evening (so good idea to be a bit more prepared than I was).

We have stayed here before and had no issues. This time however the host was not there to check us in. They left a key in the welcome box for us however; it did not have a name or note with it to say it was actually for us. We assumed it was ours and used the room anyway. overall, it was a good stay.

Really enjoyed our stay here.

We only spent a very short amount of here but it was absolutely perfect and exactly what we needed. Our flight from Auckland to Wellington was cancelled so we picked up a rental car to start heading south. We booked last minute around 8pm and everything was ready for us to check in when we arrived at 10pm and the host was very friendly and welcoming. We also had a training guide dog traveling with us and were delighted to find they provided dogs bowls as we didn't have one on us a because we weren't expecting to be stuck for the night and there were fenced off grass areas for her as well. As unexpected our stay was we will definitely look to break up trips to Auckland in future and stay here again! We definitely recomend for families and anyone traveling with pets!

It was a great location for heading to the mountain. There was plenty of room and it was warm and cozy. It was great for our family and would be great for groups who are happy to all bunk in together.

It’s convenient location to the Tokaanu marae

Its just a cosy and friendly place. We've been here a few times and we love the rooms and set up. Its perfect for our family.

The last two times we've stayed the hotpools weren't available unfortunately. So we haven't had the opportunity to swim in them during the winter.

Tolle geräumige Unterkunft. Sehr entgegenkommend bei Umbuchungswünschen, ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt! Lage ist auch super für das alpine crossing! Danach kann man noch im eigenen Geothermalpool entspannen 👍🏼 die n der Nähe gelegenen geothermal walk ist klein aber fein!

The location was great for our stay easy access to town etc. We also were upgraded to a different room which was lovely and great for our stay. We also loved having easy access to the hot pools was a great stay. Nice and easy check-in staff was beautiful. Great out door facilities for the kids to play with perfect for families

There were even more beds and a cozy sofa available, making it perfect if anyone wanted to invite more friends to join the group! Everything was neat, tidy, and wonderfully warm—such a welcoming atmosphere!
