Howard Johnson by Wyndham Anaheim Hotel and Water Playground

Even though some buildings were under construction the noise level was low! The hotel itself was clean and safe. I like that you must need a key to enter the buildings to even access your room. It provided extra safety. Every day someone was cleaning the hallways - vacuuming or carpet cleaning. Staff were extremely friendly - front desk, cleaning staff, lifeguards, even the gift shop staff. My kids didn’t want to leave. They loved the room and were comfortable. Usually one is asking to go home. We were able to check in early, they accommodated us on our requests. Even though we had a room over looking the poolside it was extremely quiet!! Every time we go to Disneyland we stay here. We also recommend HoJo to all friends and family. :)

Easy walk to Disneyland and quiet considering that it is so close to the freeway.

Our bathroom did not have a fan so everything was just humid and uncomfortable anytime the shower ran. You’d dry off from your shower and instantly just be wet again.

The 2nd floor with stairs and no curtains. After being with my kids all day at the park, I'd appreciate a good sleep since we usually go 4 days straight to the park. Thumbs down on the shades. So easy to install. You guys shouldn't have to have so many bad reviews on the same matter. Fix it!

Its only a few minutes walk to dianeyland and the waterpark was a huge bonus especially for the kids.

It was missing a pen/pencil and a notepad.

Loved our stay here! The rooms are nice, the pools are some of the best on Harbor Blvd, and the walk to the parks is a massive perk! Nicole from customer service was lovely as well.

My grandsons are autistic and not very verbal so they tend to scream a lot and we were at the pool and they were told by lifeguards that if they didn’t stop screaming, we needed to leave. Building 2 was hot and muggy like they don’t run the AC

Brilliant! 5 mins walk away from the main entrance of the Disney parks… really nice and clean. Our room was huge - almost suite like… Only noise we heard was the fireworks at Disney every evening which isn’t something to complain about. Our kids loved it. On site laundry and a shop with the basics you would need. Room had a large tv and fridge .. bathroom had two basins and was large itself. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We loved our time in California and Howard Johnson resort just made it so much nicer.. Our kids loved the mini water park. Would I book it again? Without a doubt if I was to go back I wouldn’t experiment with staying anywhere else. Ohh only negative - the pizza place suggestion was terrible.. but I guess that’s down to taste lol Thank you

**Disappointing experience and poor value for money** Our experience at the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Anaheim Hotel & Water Playground was disappointing for several reasons. First, we received a message from the hotel that created confusion about the check-out time, even though the information posted inside the room and other published sources indicate that standard check-out is at **11:00 AM**. When we tried to clarify this through Booking, the front desk later told us that questions or clarifications made through Booking “do not count” or are not valid. We found this very unprofessional, especially since Booking was the platform through which we made the reservation. Another major issue was housekeeping. After spending the entire day at Disneyland, we returned to find that our room had **not been cleaned**, the **used towels had not been replaced**, and the **bed linens had not been changed or refreshed**. For a hotel located so close to Disneyland and charging the rates it does, we expected a much better standard of service. We were also disappointed by the additional **$25 per day parking charge**, which we found excessive considering the overall cost of the stay. On top of that, our package did **not include breakfast**, making the total price even harder to justify given the level of service provided. The location near Disneyland is certainly convenient, but in our experience, that advantage did not make up for the poor housekeeping, confusing communication, unsatisfactory front-desk response, and additional charges. Overall, we found the **value for money to be poor**, and the experience did not meet the standards we expected from a Wyndham-affiliated hotel. Based on our stay, we would not choose this hotel again and would recommend that other travelers carefully review all additional charges and included services before booking.

The biggest positives were the location and convenience. The hotel is very close to Disneyland, which made it easy for our family to get to the parks. The on-site water park was also a nice feature, especially for families with children.

Unfortunately, there were several issues during our stay. Check-in was very inconvenient because the hotel’s system was extremely slow and the staff could not make a room key normally, so they had to collect our information using pen and paper. The Wi-Fi was also very poor. Videos would constantly buffer, even when trying to watch short YouTube videos. The bathroom lighting was another issue. The light is controlled by a motion sensor/timer and could shut off while someone was still showering. This was frustrating and could be a potential safety concern, especially when traveling with children. Housekeeping was also disappointing. We initially had the Do Not Disturb sign up, but after removing it, I called around noon and specifically requested that the room be cleaned. I was told it would be taken care of. However, when we returned around 12:30 AM, the room had still not been cleaned. The night shift was able to provide us with fresh towels, but the requested housekeeping service was never completed. Construction was ongoing during our stay as well. On the third day, the normal route from Building 2 to the front desk and pool/water park area was closed. There was no advance notice, and we were forced to walk through the parking lot to reach the front of the property and the street. This was particularly inconvenient with children. Finally, on checkout day, we discovered ants in our car after it had been parked on the hotel property. That was especially concerning and added to an already disappointing experience.

Great Location, only a short distance to Disneyland & CA. Staff are friendly, hotel is clean and quiet. Rooms are a decent size and beds are very comfortable. Very good valve for money. Pool and splash zone are fantastic for families with kids. Small shop on site, could do with more breakfast options (for eg. Fresh Fruit etc.

The staff at the hotel were really nice and friendly, and I want to give a special shoutout to the lifeguards. They did a great job watching the pool and helping make sure everyone was safe. We really appreciated that.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 Stars Unfortunately, there were several things that made our stay less enjoyable. The Wi-Fi was horrible. We could hardly get a good connection the entire time we were there. This was especially frustrating when trying to plan and organize our vacation days. The TV and movies were also constantly glitching and cutting out because of the poor connection. Our kids would get so frustrated because they couldn’t even sit down and watch a movie without it repeatedly stopping. After long days at Disneyland, having some downtime to relax and watch a movie was something our family really looked forward to. We mentioned the Wi-Fi issue to the front desk and were told they would reset all the routers, but unfortunately that didn’t make any difference. Our room was also located right next to the laundry/washer room, so we could hear the machines running fairly often. It wasn’t ideal when trying to relax or sleep. The room also didn’t have extra blankets, and the sheets were very thin. The A/C was inconsistent, turning on and off and never really maintaining a comfortable temperature. Our microwave didn’t rotate when heating food, which made it difficult to warm food evenly. Another issue was the bathroom ventilation. There was no fan to help with humidity after showers, and the bathroom definitely feels like it could use some updating. The location is walkable to Disneyland, which is convenient, but I do think the hotel could improve things by offering transportation to Disneyland more frequently, especially for families who are spending long days at the parks.

My family always stays here when we visit Disneyland. The value, location, and overall quality of the rooms are top notch. The staff is super friendly and helpful as well. The rooms are clean and Disneyland is a 10 minute walk away. Must stay for family vacation.

First impression, we got a bad dual room. The 2nd room was hot and AC only went down to 78 F throughout the night. The AC was leaking in the first room which created a musty smell to the carpet. The room overall did not feel clean. They switch our rooms the next morning which I wish was our first impression because it was very nice.

Everything was quite dirty and well used. Very dirty carpet in the room. The shower is broken. The balcony is also dirty. Yhey don’t clean the room every day and even don’t refill coffee capsules. Uncomfortable beds. And all of that is not recouped by the location. It is not 10 minutes to go to the Disneyland. It is 30 minutes. Think twice

My good friend and I stayed there just this past week and absolutely LOVED our experience! We’re already booking our next trip!!!! We usually stay on Disney property but wanted to try something more budget friendly and we are so glad we did! We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms and it was great! My ONLY complaint is that we were unable to cool our room down to our liking, but my family and I like our room to be COLD. The swimming pool/water playground staff were FANTASTIC!! So friendly. We were out enjoying the pool and playground for several hours and never saw one of them on their phone, they were attentive to everyone in the water. I cannot brag enough on them!

Last review i accidentally called Brianna Becky and im sooo sorry because she is so courteous and efficient! Answered guess what? She upgraded our room to a suite and as platinum members this is awesome! Problem is, now they're exposing me to these great different areas of the hotel and just take my $$ lol! Other helpful ppl were Nicolette & Audrey, very patient and happy! Sam and Fernando, I mean everyone here helps you like you are their only customers! We loved the location, so close to the parks we just walked over. We watched the fireworks from our balcony, so much fun with two littles!

The pool and splash pad were great, lifeguards were super nice and attentive but it wasn’t the cleanest.

We stayed in one of the bunk bed rooms and I wish it were a little bigger like the traditional rooms were. Our room felt very crowded with 2 kids and all their stuff. I would also have liked to see more storage in the room. There was not a lot of places to keep luggage or clothing items in the room compared to other hotels I have stayed at.

Excellent customer service. Rooms and property were clean, comfortable and well maintained. The waterpark was an added bonus for the kids. Close proximity to Disney parks and on/off freeway access. Well secured. Had all the essential ammenities and even a gift shop for convenience with last minute needed items.

Location and ease of parking.

We got a room in building 3, floor 2, which had stairs, so we had to carry a stroller and 2 suitcases up those stairs. Also our room had a smell to it. Another thing is they had two skylights window, which wasn’t mentioned in the description, we basically had a hard time sleeping.

We had a great stay! The staff was friendly and helpful, and the location was excellent. The waterpark was a lot of fun and made the stay even more enjoyable.

The only downside was that there wasn’t a complimentary breakfast, but that was my own mistake for not checking before booking. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely stay here again.

The room smelled humid and moldy, and it was scratched and dirty. After the supervisor agreed to provide a refund (I had to book another hotel because they were not able to change rooms), they changed their mind. The only good rooms they have are in buildings 1 and 2. If you select something different, be ready to have a cheap motel room with school toilets.

We had an old room that has not been remodeled yet. It smelled very old! Musty and almost like a yucky bathroom.

This is our favorite hotel to stay at when visiting Disneyland and California Adventure! The location is perfect, just footsteps from the park entrance and perfectly located across from the fireworks at night! The rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. The value is incredible when considering location and what you get for the rate. The staff is the best and the atmosphere of the hotel is modern meets retro. Kind of takes you to another place, which is perfect for a trip to Anaheim and Disney.

After a long flight, the check-in was smooth and easy, and the little shop was awesome. The location was why we chose this hotel, and it didn’t disappoint - just a short walk to Disneyland.

No bowls, spoons or anything else in the room - we had to buy them even though they sold food and cereal etc at the small shop.

Pool staff was nice but very strict about wrist band policy, which is fine, but could only exchange/get new wristbands from front desk which could be busy at times (minor inconvenience).

We were very happy with the booking experience through Luxury Escapes. The staff at Howard Johnson were very happy people and always helpful and polite.

The room we were in, was in need of an upgrade compared to the building where the rest of our family stayed! We were very disappointed with the transport arrangements we made through Booking.com.

The maintenance worker that walked into my room while I was napping I didn't have the top lock latched due to my family being at the pool. Never received any notification that worker would need to come to our room. Very uncomfortable as a woman.

I understand the pool wrist bands are not replaced, however, when you ask the front desk they are rude about a customer asking. It is not what was said but how it was said. A little understanding goes a lomg way and the attitude in how you say things makes a huge difference in how the message is received.

The location is great to Disneyland and it is easy to walk to restaurants and other activities in the area. The pools and water park are a perfect break from the park and the lifeguards are awesome. The staff at the hotel is so nice and willing to help. I traveled with myself and three kids and we got the bunk bed room. It is tiny. We were top of each other the whole time and you barely have room to move. The double queen room is much bigger and better for families. For the water park you have to keep your wristbands. There are not great quality and fall apart after going swimming once then to the parks. They are very strict on the wristbands, and if you want to be that strict get a better wristband or let people use their key card. The front was a little annoyed every time we asked for new ones. The WiFi is not great. I would stay here again

The mini waterpark was a huge hit for my kids (8, 4, & 1yrs old). I liked how the room was set up with large countertop spaces and ease of parking. Beds and pillows were very comfortable after a long day at Disney.

There was an issue with our hot water in our room so we were upgraded to a renovated room. Both rooms did not have a desk clock so I would add those to the rooms.

The blue faux leather couch was very uncomfortable...the cushions were velcro but they kept sliding off and the texture wasn't comfortable especially after a long day of sweating. It felt sticky.

We paid for early check in, got to room after waiting 45 minutes for them to complete the check in process. We get to the room and it is warm and stayed warm even though air was set to 64. One “bar” of soap was left for us. There are 2 sinks and a shower. We checked in midday and went back to the park. We came back late and had to leave on time in the morning which was difficult since there was zero shampoo, conditioner, body wash in the refillable shower bottles and the bar of soap was almost gone after hand washing the day prior. Sinks were filthy, grout was nasty, door stop was a rusty foot cutting hazard as the stopper was no longer at there and it was bare rusty metal. And the tub wouldn’t drain. No telling what we were showering in. We make do with soap and wash my hair and my daughter’s hair. We pack up, my husband takes bags to car, we walk out to the car as he is walking back to meet us and help get us in the car and we approach our car and there is a man taking the bags from our car in an attempt to steal them. We also paid for parking, which was pointless as there was zero security. So frustrated by this experience. We paid for convenience and feel completely taken advantage of and now unsafe at this property.

Everything was good.

There hotel was a dump it was dirty the staff weren't friendly. Our bathtub wouldn't hold water and we had two toddlers with us 😡. They didn't offer us to switch rooms. When we were leaving to go to dinner and the safe wouldn't open, the maintenance guy took forever to come fix it and we could go to eat for almost an hour while he opened for us. Try telling a 3 and 5 year old we can't go eat because grandmas money is locked in the safe while they are hungry. We came for a family trip to Disneyland and the website describe this place to be 4 stars , maybe a two. When we got back tonight from Disney we asked for a late check out, they said it was $85 for two hours absurd . Their staff at the pool and the waterpark didn't even smile or greet the guest. All around horrible experience . Didn't have time to switch hotels because family plans at Disney , but will not recommend this place ever. They should be listed as a motel not hotel or inn.

Very disappointing. The room was not as advertised. We left to go to the theme park for the day and when we returned our door was propped open, like housekeeping does, only we didn’t have housekeeping services completed while there. It was just me and my daughter so we were scared the rest of the time there. I had to check under the beds, the bathroom, closet, etc just to make sure there was no one in the room. The next morning, I woke up to a huge roach in the shower. Then I was charged twice for my stay. Not happy at all!!!!

We stayed here during our Disney trip and had a fantastic experience. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and an easy walk to the park, which made everything so convenient. What really stood out, though, was the incredible customer service. After we left, we realized we had accidentally left behind a phone and a blanket. When I called, Jennifer immediately jumped in to help. She quickly located our lost items, carefully packed them up, and arranged to have them shipped back to us. Jennifer turned what could have been a stressful situation into an easy and reassuring experience. Her kindness and willingness to go above and beyond made a lasting impression on our family. Thank you, Jennifer, and the entire team for such outstanding service. We would absolutely stay here again!

I continue to come back to this hotel each year for my daughters birthday, she refuses to go anywhere else! The hotel, cleanliness, service, staff, amenities, and location, the value can't be beat. I can't recommend a stay here enough. The rooms are great, value is unmatched, great atmosphere, and despite it's location off the freeway, virtually no traffic noise.
