The reserve is stunning. Nice and remote and perfect for star viewing. Staff are very helpful and friendly and there is plenty to on and around the reserve. Rooms are decently equipped with pretty much everything that you need.
Some minor maintenance may be required. A few damp stops in the bathroom and the remote controls for exit and entrance gates didn't work, but that's just looking for faults. All in all, a great place to stay!
The dark night sky was the highlight of our visit. Seeing the Milky way so clearly was PRICELSS! The 4 course dinner(set menu) was incredible and very reasonably charged, all of us enjoyed it.
Not being informed upfront that extra firewood, guided nightsky viewing, the Game drive and the fossil presentation and drive were all extra charges. It would be good for the establishment to print the list of extra sevices and their related cost
The only place to stay in Sutherland, comfortable, incredible staff and spectacular skies. The activities are a must. Thank you to everyone at Rogge Cloof for a truly wonderful experience.

More wood could have been provided and clearer instructions on house keeping
Absolute beautiful Karoo!!!

Staff was amazing. Area great for stargazing.
Because it is solar powered there was no real heating available other than the fireplace.
Beautiful and very comfortable units with friendly and welcoming staff. The stargazing experience was absolutely amazing and something really special. We also loved that extra cosy blankets were provided for the evening, as the temperatures dropped quite quickly after sunset. It made sitting outside under the stars even more enjoyable.
Nothing really. We had a wonderful stay.

The setting is incredible and the service from the staff is unrivaled. Our exceptional guide(s) were knowledgeable on numerous fields, from the history of the property to the biodiversity, and event the stars.
There was one cheesecake dessert which did not pass the test, the rest of the meals were all delicious. Our room at the sheep shed, although comfortably furnished, did not have a view which was disappointing.
Photos misleading on internet
A great Karoo Highland stay. Really good as new cottage style freestanding rooms.
All good
Food offering overall was great. Quietness of location awesome
Nothing to complain about
The location is beautiful. the cottage we were in, Cedar, was really well appointed and comfortable. We enjoyed our breakfast
Nothing
beste ever
it is in the middle of nowhere and for that to expensive
Good service thanks Great star gazing!
No aircon in the room
The Stargazing
The night sky location is the main event, the property is well maintained and very comfortable. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable of area. Breakfast and Dinner are both very appetising. Would highly recommend
Nothing it is a superb place to stay.
Amazing location if you wish to disconnect from the city life. You’ll have to drive about 12km on a gravel road after you go through the main gate (this is where google map stops). I recommend a car with good ground clearance (Toyota cross worked great for me). The night sky is very clear if you’re a stargazer and the SALT Telescope is about 45 mins drive. The food is great and the cottages are clean and tidy. They also have safari trips since this is a private game reserve. It gets pretty chilly at night and the only way to heat the cottage is with the fireplace, which you’ll need to know how to use it.
The staff especially Ane and Cari. Very hospitable and friendly.
We were not over impressed with some of the food. Butternut ravioli was too thick and undercooked. Malva pudding was more like a bread and butter pudding. Chicken curry had no curry taste and was shredded chicken with a sauce. Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise sauce. The sauce had split so it was like melted butter all over the plate. The creme brulee was overcooked so tasted like scrambled eggs.
Way over priced, if you pay premium rates, you expect premium facilities!!!
Friendly and professional staff. Food was exceptional. Dark skies
Remote, rugged and beautiful. Watching the female cheetah release was a highlight.
The property is absolutely stunning. Nice open spaces and beautifully done rooms. The fireplace is an amazing touch and we had so much fun just relaxing and taking in the stunning sights. Some of the best customer service we’ve experienced with attentive staff and a dozen activities to choose from. We would go back in a heartbeat. One of the best places I’ve ever stayed.
Nothing. It was amazing.
Secluded game reserve in the beautiful Rogge Veld. Multiple accommodation options available to suit couples or families. Everything you need in a kitchen if you plan to cook but we would highly recommend enjoying meals at the lodge - fantastic food prepared by chef Rashid. Rogge Cloof even produce their own wine - top class! Lots to do - cheetah tracking, fossil tours, game drives, star gazing. The staff are exceptional. We had a fantastic stay.
Nothing.
The Sky
Our two hosts and the chef were exceptional. They all went out of their way to make our stay and experience memorable.

A very beautiful and secluded place with lovely rooms and high-quality food. Perfect for a peaceful stay and great for stargazing at night.
Beautiful and peaceful place, but limited electricity – no hairdryer use and rooms stayed cold at night despite a wood stove. Firewood burned out quickly. Electricity setup should be improved for the price. Website suggests cheetahs are nearby, but they were hours away – disappointing for our child. Dinner and wine were unexpectedly expensive and raised the total cost of the stay double.
A nice welcome, good communication for activities and meals, dinner was good and the star gazing and fossil drive was fantastic. The accommodation was clean and cosy.
If you looking for quiet and remote solitude in tastefully designed accommodation, this is it. Friendly and professional staff, very willing and helpful. Accommodation was spacious, suitably equipped and comfortable. Well positioned for personal privacy. Though apologies were offered for the roads leading to the lodge/accommodation, can quite honestly say that they were in excellent condition (certainly compared to the many roads we have travelled on in this area) and obviously well maintained. Though we primarily self catered, we did take advantage of having a dinner and breakfast - it was excellent and to be highly recommended. Night sky as one would expect was outstanding, but the star gazing on offer helped us identify a lot of what we were looking at and must commend the game guides on their incredibly wide spectrum of knowledge across a wide range of things. Plenty of space to walk and bike too.
Not a complaint, just a suggestion: in regard to the wine tasting, perhaps waive the tasting fee if wine above a certain value is purchased as is the case with most other wine estates.
Beautiful location, good wine
Stargazing activity was disappointing. Low level of knowledge by guide, telescope did not function properly
Location Staff Food
Shower curtain bad news Shower was old and not working well 12 km dirt road could have more gravel to avoid mud slips
Very good
Everthing was excellent
Staff are amazing, food was excellent
All good
Remote location and friendly staff and the highest vineyard in SA at 1500m.
The menu choices were exceptional for such a remote property. The food showed imagination.
Lovely place, will be back to visit in winter. Staff was amazing, very comfortable bed. Well equipped, and accommodating seeing as we were travelling with our little dog
Location was great and staff were friendly, knowledgeable & helpful. Would love to come back in the winter.
Breakfast and food was fantastic staff very friendly and the environment really beautiful
Lots of interesting activities for the children
Showers - gas not set correctly
Isolated. Quiet.
Far from town
Was very nice and clean. The stuff where very friendly. The calm atmosphere
The road to the Lodge is a bit long.
Wonderful, remote, unusual, charming. Staff obliging and professional. Highly recommended and excellent value for money.
Breakfast was generous but orange juice not natural and toast cold. Minor quibbles.
Food great, knowledge of Game Drive Guide Exceptional, the Fossils, Very FriendlyInadequate and Efficient Staff
No Cell phone connectivity
Stunning location
All good
Staff were incredible! I didn’t have to leave all weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed the Polar Swim Challenge while there
Extraordinary hospitality, we felt so at home. The meals were of very high quality, excellently prepared, presented and served.
It can be very cold in winter, but there is a wood fireplace and warm water bottles available for heating.
Friendly and welcoming staff, our booking was last minute and the ladies made sure we were fed and comfortable. Breakfast service well organized and tasty. Thank you for the special touch to seat us next to each other rather than across the table 😊
Bedroom can be more cozy with extra rugs special next to bed.
The location of the farm is great, the roads are narrow thus keeping the surrounding area free of Tyre tracks.
Here is my feedback that highlight several areas where the lodge could improve to match the expectations set by the price point of R4000,00 per night. Here are some key points and suggestions: Food Quality and Presentation: Enhance the quality and presentation of meals to justify the premium price. Consider offering a wider variety of options or a more flexible menu to avoid having guests commit to meals 12 hours in advance. Beverage Service: Replace tin cups with more insulated options, especially in winter. Invest in a cappuccino machine or provide better hot beverage options. Shower Water Pressure: Address the fluctuating water pressure to ensure a comfortable shower experience. Off-Grid Amenities: Clearly communicate that the lodge is off the grid, highlighting the lack of air conditioning and heaters. Emphasize the use of a wood fireplace for heating and provide tips for managing it effectively. Consider including or recommending that guests bring additional wood, especially in colder weather, given the high cost of wood at the lodge. Fireplace Functionality: Ensure that the fireplaces are well-maintained to prevent smoke from filling the rooms. Park fees With he premium price of R4000,00 per night the park fees were added in on departure making the bill R4200,00 Would be nice to know the total costs before arriving. By addressing these points, the lodge can significantly improve the guest experience and better align with the expectations set by its pricing.
It is a beautiful and peaceful place, where one can properly unwind. The staff were accommodating and looked after us exceptionally well. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent food in the restaurant.
The property's located in a beautiful natural environment, the sunrises, sunsets, quiet and stargazing are fantastic. The food at the restaurant exceeded our expectations.
We struggled a little bit with the hot water in the showers, which involves gas geysers, but we managed in the end.
The guides and staff were helpful, informed, passionate and all round friendly and great.
Excellent location Remote but still has attention to detail in chalets Excellent interpretation of the existing 250+ year old homestead
Our guide was extremely helpful, kind and professional. He is an asset to your business
The lady working at reception was extremely rude and she made us wait an hour at the gate as she didn’t open the gate following a last minute booking
The accommodation at Rogge Cloof was very tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The food was excellent and the service superb. For lunch one day we had the best pizza we have tasted. Highly recommended. Eben needs to be complimented on his attentiveness and service.
No refrigerator in the room made it a little difficult. The wine list is very limited and we took our own wine but were charged corkage. On the day that we did not take wine their Chardonnay was not cold and they had no stock of our alternative selected wine. As a result I think corkage was uncalled for.
The location is truly special and quite unique. The rooms are situated beautifully to fit into the natural surroundings and complement the landscape. The service is very personal, and you are made to feel right at home, from the time you check in. The lodge offers many activities to suit a variety of interests. Our evening meal was delicious and unpretentious. Due to its location, we had the pleasure of enjoying a heard of springbok grazing right in front of our patio in the early morning. Bonus point: they are pet friendly!
Nothing of significance - small item: a hairdryer in the room would have been good to have.
