Room was very clean, lovely property, friendly staff. Checked out early to get to flight so missed breakfast. We were able to check in early to leave our luggage at a safe location. That was super helpful.

We were given a room with standing water in the bathroom. When we asked to change rooms, the staff treated us as if we were an inconvenience. The breakfast was terrible. On top of that, they refused to give me an invoice because it was paid through Booking.com. I had to demand the manager's contact info twice just to get a basic receipt. Definitely overpriced. Do not recommend.

Wonderful location, situated with a view of the Half Moon Bay Golf Links. Pleasant atmosphere. Our room was updated and well appointed. The front desk staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. We had a quiet room. Enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. I will be back!

Dieses Mal war das Personal leider nicht mehr freundlich und es war eher eine "Abfertigung" beim Check- In und "Check out". Schade, weil wir uns tatsächlich auf unseren zweiten Besuch gefreut hatten.

Location was in great area, like hidden gem on the road. Like that it was farther from main road that noise of cars not bothering our stay. Breakfast was great.

Our room did not have robes and cups for hot coffee. Water is sink and bathtub water was not flushing. But other than that it was great.

There were no vents in the bathroom. We could smell and see the mold build up in the bathroom and on the doors. I had to open the sliding doors to let the humidity out.

There is no thermostat in the room And no air conditioner. It's over 70 outside and over hot inside the room I have to stay 3 night. Ugh!!!!!!

I always request a groundfloor room for my service dog and they have been so nice and granted this request. I've stayed hear several times over the years and I am never disappointed. Bed is comfortable, the room is clean and well stocked and plenty of space in the king size room that includes a desk. Good breakfast and the pool and hot tub is amazing anytime of year. I really enjoy how quiet it is on the grounds at night, it backs up to the golf course and is far enough away from the Hwy 1.

Sometimes at night there are people by the fire pit talking and that sound carries easily. I have also stayed in a room with the fireplace, and while that sounds romantic, the scent of wood fire is bothersome to me inside so I will not be doing that again.

It was a perfect environment for three very busy young children.

The location was nice. Asked for a quiet room but they put us on the end which was a through-way for everyone to get to the rooms on the back side of the hotel. The view of the golf course was nice. The noise 24/7 was not.

The carpet in our room had embers on it which made our socks black when we walked on it before we realized. The room had a fireplace, but there was no wood. We called the front desk and they brought us a small bag of firewood. It was cute. The bag burned for an hour maximum which was unfortunate.

It was quiet and I loved the fact some of the rooms had fireplaces. Our room was large and clean. We had everything we needed. It was just what was needed for a road trip down the California coast. We were able to walk to the beach and then walk over to the Ritz Carlton for a drink on their patio. All in all a good experience.

We really enjoyed our stay! The property was pretty and well maintained, the room was clean and the beds were comfortable, and the staff were very kinder whole stay. The front desk staff offered our daughter a child’s size robe, which I thought was very sweet.

My daughter and I loved our stay here. The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. It had a cute balcony off the back where we could sit out at night and play cards. The ice machine worked. Parking was included at no extra charge. The included breakfast was good, and it included hot eggs, sausages, make it yourself waffles, bagels, and coffee. Not just packaged/cold stuff, which tbh I had been expecting. The location is off on its own, a 10-15 min drive away from downtown Half Moon Bay and the restaurant strip. Some might not want that, but we were happy to be at a quieter spot off the beaten path and still have access to amenities. It being south of the “action” in HMB also put us closer to Santa Cruz, making the trip down there pretty easy and making the Lodge a great home base for excursions all along the coast. The front desk staff was wonderful. Friendly, competent, and efficient. The rates were reasonable, considering the comps. Strong recommend!

That end of Half Moon Bay does not have a big selection of restaurants. Not the hotels fault but makes us reconsider that area for next time.

The golf course view was ok. The room was clean and the service came by when the heater wasn't working. They had managed to clean the room up on time for our early check in of 3PM as I had a work meeting to finish.

Upon arrival, the front desk staff weren't too friendly, but they checked us in. The property is old and didn't look like it was worth the price ($ 400+) from the outside. The rooms were average - the lights near the coffee area would not work when the har dryer was turned on. The tub clogged water and we had to wait between showers for the water to drain. We couldn't figure out how to turn on the heater and called maintenance after which they gave us a portable extra heater. One of the towel holders fell off in the bathroom as well and we had to fix it back. Overall poor experience for the money paid. Glad we only stayed a day.

Sehr gepflegte Anlage und eine tolle Unterkunft für unseren Zwischenstop auf unserem Roadtrip. Die Betten waren gefühlt einem Himmelbett gleich zu stellen und das Zimmer geräumig und schick eingerichtet. Balkon selten in den USA mit Blick auf den angrenzenden Golfplatz. Poolarea sehr schick und Frühstück für amerikanische Verhältnisse in Hotels absolut in Ordnung und gut. Konnten zweimal die Fahrräder kostenlos nutzen.

It's run down since the last time we stayed there. We were on the 1st floor & the rooms are stuffy, there's no AC, just a ceiling fan. We couldn't use the slider, the door was hard to open & close & the screen lock didn't work. The bathrooms are small, the jacuzzi and pool could've been warmer. The walls are paper thin, we could hear everything upstairs & were near the housekeeping station, so lots of noise, was hard to sleep. The continental breakfast wasn't bad, and the receptionist was kind in helping us to get the TV to work too. Overall, it's not bad if you're looking for a cheaper average/below average place to stay.

Great central location for exploring between San Francisco and Santa Cruz. 1st floor rooms with patio made it very easy for taking our dog out to potty or to just sit out and relax. Rooms aren't fancy but clean and comfortable. Second floor rooms only accessible by stairs. Outdoor fire pit area is spacious and very comfortable. Free parking and free breakfast are an added bonus. We would definitely return.

Super loud - so loud the headboard was vibrating from noise, no AC. Faucet and towel holder were loose. Sharp tack poked my foot in the carpet at transition from room to bathroom. Breakfast lacked options and what was there was not tasty. Receptionist was unfriendly at check in. Kept receiving emails day of check out telling/asking us to check out well prior to checkout time. Felt unnecessary and pushy. Bed and pillows were very comfy. Pool area and firepits looked nice but we didnt use.

The staff is friendly, the rooms clean and large. We appreciated the hot tub, pool and fire-pit. Breakfast is limited. The bikes to use are such a great idea. The location is good. We have stayed twice and will return.

Hotel nice and in a great location close drive to beaches and Main Street. Room walls too thin though for our liking as noisy hotel guests disrupted our sleep. Also, pool towels not well stocked, complimentary breakfast appreciated bur very much underwhelming. The lovely room balconies were awesome though.

We've stayed at the Half Moon Bay Lodge before and we love it. The front desk staff members are so professional and personable, always quick to help with directions or recommendations for dining spots. The rooms are very large, we reserve the King suite with a fireplace. The common area in the back is lovely - great views of the golf course, plenty of spaces to sit and relax by the fire pit, picnic table, and yard games. The pool is warm and inviting, lots of lounge chairs or places by the fire to sit. Location is perfect as it it close to downtown Half Moon Bay and beaches with walking trails. We will always stay here when in the area.

Needs a bit of updating, screen door popped off asap but I had tools and reset the rollers, extra pillows did not get delivered and had to call again, loan bikes for 3-4 hours before charging. Hot tub was out of service which was the reason we selected this resort after being in chilly weather for 3 days, disappointing. Positeves: Room was clean, bed was nice, breakfast being continental was good and eggs tasted like real eggs. Easy check out and plenty of activities for kids.

Love the lodge. We stay here often. The rooms are good size and comfortable. However, this time the hot tub wasn't working which is a main reason for staying here. I will stay here again.

Der beheizte Pool war der absolute Hit bei den Kids. Und es gab noch kleine Ourdoorspiele, die auch gerne bespielt wurden. Das Frühstück mit Bagels, Kaffee, frischen Säften etc. war wirklich sehr gut. Die Kids liebten die frischen Waffeln. Das Zimmer war sauber und die Betten bequem. Das Personal am Tresen war freundlich und hat uns mit Zusatzhandtüchern versorgt. Wir kommen gerne wieder und können das Hotel für Familien empfehlen.

Nur als Anregung: Der Frühstücksraum könnte ein paar mehr Tische haben. Früh morgens war es schwierig einen Tisch zu bekommen. Wir haben dann die Sofatische genutzt. Vielleicht könnte man bei gutem Wetter die Terrasse draussen nutzen?

I took my family here for a short beach vacation this past weekend. We wanted a quick getaway before taking my youngest to college this week, and unfortunately, the stay was very disappointing. The first thing we noticed when we arrived was that the front desk attendants did not seem suited for the hospitality business. The person who checked us in did not smile once, did not welcome us as members of their perks program, and did not offer us water. When I asked about the water, since it is one of the listed perks, I was told it was not available because I booked through Expedia. That was not accurate, as I booked through Amex Platinum, but either way, it was just a bottle of water. We were also told at check-in that the hot tub was out of service. This was not mentioned on the website, and the hot tub was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel over other Half Moon Bay options. To their credit, they did get us into our room early, which we appreciated. However, once we got to the room and spent time there, we realized the room had several issues. When we opened the door, the room was incredibly hot (which despite our complaints, it remained the entire time). We were on the bottom floor, right next to the lobby, so while we could open the door when we were inside, we could not leave it open while we were gone. The room was also dirty and in need of repair. Specifically, the desk countertop had dirt on it, the bathroom door stuck badly, and a cabinet door was hanging off. That said, we probably could have lived with those issues. We had a great time at the beach, which was close by, and enjoyed a great dinner at Pasta Moon, which I highly recommend. But when we returned to the hotel, the real problem began. We went to bed around 11:00 p.m., and almost immediately, the person above us began walking back and forth across the room. We could hear every step, and it sounded like Bigfoot pacing above us. This continued until about midnight. We went to the front desk and got earplugs, which helped somewhat, and eventually the person upstairs went to sleep. Unfortunately, they were up again around 1:30 a.m., waking us all up. Then it happened again around 4:00 a.m., and again around 6:30 a.m. As a result, my entire family essentially got no sleep. The next morning, my wife told the front desk what had happened. Their response was that they had “never heard about the steps,” only that “the floor creaks.” To us, that is essentially the same problem. They did not offer a refund, a partial refund, a credit, or even a bottle of water for the ride home. They simply said thanks for letting them know, even though it appeared they already knew there was an issue. Overall, this was not the relaxing family getaway we hoped for. Between the poor front desk experience, the unavailable hot tub, the condition of the room, and the lack of sleep due to the noise from above, I would not recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel in a great area. The pool, the sauna, the breakfast, and the rooms are all amazing. The staff was friendly and the whole vibe was incredibly calm. The only thing to mention is there's no A/C but there was a fan in the room and it wasn't too warm when we went

Decent stay backing onto the golf course, a short walk to the coastal path, and a <5 minute drive to the main street in Half Moon Bay.

Reception staff were not very welcoming (we felt like we were a hassle to them when checking in!) but otherwise a solid stay.

We hadn’t been here for 10 years or so, but the place is still charming and beautiful. But before I checked in they told another customer that the jacuzzi was broken. What??!! That is one of the main reasons we chose this place. If I had known that, honestly I would have booked somewhere else. Other people I met at the pool felt the same way. That being said I will knock one star off. The staff is very hospitable and accommodating. Rooms are very nice, though the smoke smell from the fireplace is strong. If you are sensitive like me, and can’t tolerate a strong smoke smell ..get a different room without one. I recommend the suites. Love the outdoor fireplace however. That is new and makes it very relaxing at night.

Fabulous, spacious room with a terrace overlooking the pool and golf course. Lots of hot and cold breakfast options, great eggs, fresh juice not the sugar loaded orange liquid often provided. Local coffees and a range of teas. We loved the free bikes and cycled the coastal trail into half moon bay. We arrived early expecting to leave luggage somewhere but were shown straight to our room.

I didn’t like the slick marketing showing a nice hotel when in fact it is a motel which has been half renovated. The room smelt musty - the shower curtain has probably never been washed. One towel had a huge bunch of hair in it. The carpet in the room smelt of vomit. The soundproofing was non-existent. The furniture was old and scratched. As for the breakfast, a complete disgrace unless you love ultra processed stuff. Even the eggs were powdered! Not a piece of fruit to be seen. Just packaged toast etc. The waffle machine was good though. There is no reason to stay here. You are not near the sea which is a short drive away so stay anywhere else instead and save your money. The place has a lot of potential if only some care and effort was put into it.

Only stayed one night but it was vey nice. Enjoyed the room, large hot tub, and delicious breakfast! Want to stay longer next time.

Staff was friendly and very accommodating. They were able to provide two rooms with a joining door which was perfect for our group. We had a great stay.

I was very disappointed with the cleanliness and overall maintenance of the room. Upon arrival, I found hairs in both the bathtub and the sink, which immediately raised concerns about whether the room had been properly cleaned. The trash bag was not correctly placed in the bin, further contributing to the impression of poor housekeeping standards. In addition, the refrigerator was covered with a large buildup of ice and appeared to have been neglected for quite some time. What was most frustrating was that I reported these issues to the front desk, but no action was taken and I received no response or follow-up during my stay. Customer service should address cleanliness concerns promptly, especially when they are brought to staff’s attention. The television also offered only basic channels and did not include access to popular streaming services such as Netflix or other apps, which was unexpected. Considering the price and the property’s presentation, the condition of the room and the lack of response from staff were unacceptable and significantly affected my experience.

I recently stayed at Half Moon Bay Lodge and came away genuinely impressed. It's one of those places that quietly exceeds expectations, making it easy to relax and enjoy your time away. One of its biggest strengths is the location. It was the perfect home base for exploring the area, sitting conveniently between San Francisco and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Whether we were heading north for the day or south for some fun along the coast, the drive was very manageable. Shopping, restaurants, and everyday conveniences were also just a few minutes away. From the moment I checked in, the property had a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The front desk staff were friendly, professional, and easy to approach. Knowing they were readily available if I needed anything made me feel well taken care of throughout my stay. The grounds deserve special recognition. The landscaping is beautifully maintained, and it's obvious that a great deal of care goes into keeping the property looking its best. Walking around the hotel each morning was relaxing, and everything felt clean, polished, and inviting. Although the property has a motel-style design with exterior room entrances, don't let that fool you. My room felt much more like a deluxe hotel room—spacious, well-appointed, and equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The highlight for me was the private balcony overlooking the golf course. As someone who enjoys golf, it was a real treat to sit outside with a cup of coffee and watch golfers tee off just steps away from my patio. It added a peaceful touch that made the stay feel a little more special. Even during the busy summer travel season, the hotel remained surprisingly quiet. It offered the charm and relaxation I was hoping for without the hustle and bustle that often comes with peak travel months. I also have to mention the bed. Hotel beds can be hit or miss, but this one was outstanding. The mattress was very comfortable, and the bedding felt exceptionally high quality. The linens were soft, crisp, and luxurious, allowing me to sleep as well as I do at home—which is something I rarely say after staying in a hotel. Overall, Half Moon Bay Lodge offered me an excellent combination of location, comfort, beautiful surroundings, and attentive hospitality. Whether you're visiting the Bay Area, planning a trip to Santa Cruz, or simply looking for a peaceful place to unwind, I would happily recommend staying here. I know I'll be looking forward to my next visit.

Awesome lodge! Stayed for the first time for our 25th anniversary. Decided to bring our dog because reviews said they were dog friendly! From friendly registration, affordable prices, and super dog friendliness we could not have asked for more. We won’t stay anywhere else in Half Moon! Thanks for an amazing stay! More then we expected.

Beautiful place to stay and very kid friendly which is important for our family of 4 boys. My youngest (4yrs) asked to go back to our other house with the pool. So to say it was a hit for everyone is an understatement. Highly recommend Half Moon Bay Lodge!

the internet was so hard to use and it was very slow. We stayed two nights in room 203 and then toilet stop working so late on the evening we had to pack all of our staff and move to different room. it was not a fun at all!!!!

After checking in, we had dinner at a nearby restaurant and spent some time relaxing around the bonfire. When we returned to our room and were getting ready for bed, we discovered animal feces on the carpet underneath the desk. It was already after 11:00 p.m. I tried calling the front desk, but no one answered. I eventually reached someone only after calling the number printed on the room key envelope. The staff member told me it was too late to address the issue that night and said she would inform the manager the next morning. To our surprise, the feces remained in the room overnight. When I brought up the issue at checkout the next morning, the clerk appeared unsurprised and stated that her colleague had noted that a room change had been offered the previous night and that we had declined it. No room change was ever offered during our phone conversation. Instead, the clerk offered to waive the $25 charge for the cot in our room. Frankly, is enduring the odor and unsanitary condition of feces in a hotel room overnight worth only $25? We found this response inadequate and disappointing. Due to our travel schedule, we did not have time to pursue the matter further and had to leave. This experience reflects a serious failure in room inspection, cleanliness, and customer service. We expected much better standards from your hotel.

Nebel "Karl the Fog"....alle 4 Tage - der nur einmal Nachmittags sich auflöste ...rundherum (auf anderer Seite des Hügels = Silicon Valley usw) immer wolkenlos... der eine NM jedoch Traumhaft... = Half Moon Bay generell wunderschön aber bekanntlich "Nebelloch"...

Drove to San Francisco and took my kid to camp. Family has the best time relaxing outside in the patio, got in the hot tub, and pool. We ate breakfast together but most importantly made memories all together. Thank you!!

We needed a quick, convenient spot to stay 30 minutes from SFO at the end of our vacation, and this lodge completely exceeded our expectations. Finding a full-service hotel with such fantastic amenities—including a pool, sauna, spa, and a wonderful breakfast—was a delightful surprise. Beyond the facilities, the bed was absolutely amazing; I haven't slept that well on a trip in a very long time. As frequent travelers who often take family and European trips, we can confidently say this lodge is perfect. What truly elevates the experience, however, is the staff. Their genuine care for guests rivals the service you'd expect at a J.W. Marriott. What was meant to be just a quick night's sleep turned into a memorable stay that left us wanting to return. A huge thank you to Julie and her extraordinary team for taking such wonderful care of us!

First time here last year stayed at the quality Inn and half Moon Bay. It was awful. It stunk it was dirty but never go back there again. I wish I would’ve known about your place last year but will be back it was my birthday weekend.

Nice sized room. Good pillows. Nice balcony. Everything seemed clean. A little disappointed because the hot tub wasn't working (looks like it was cited by local authorities for multiple issues). Decent Continental breakfast is included - the usual, make your own waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, etc. Be aware there is no air conditioning in the room. Wasn't an issue for us at this time of year. We would stop here again on another trip up the coast.

Breakfast is a catastrophe: very limited offering, frequently out-of-stock (no coffee let at 9.30am, no creamer, no plain yoghurt). This also continues with not enough parking space available as well as no elevator-- Would not recommend to visit- rip-off.

We love staying at this hotel, sits next to golf course which is quiet and serene in the morning and sunset. The rooms are large and nicely furnished with a fireplace. Beds are really comfortable and the property is manicured. Staff are friendly and responsive. Definitely would recommend!

A out of town quiet location. Very nice staff and managers. Heated pool & jacuzzi! Even got the option to upgrade from king to queen tower suite! Memorable and lovely. Souvenirs available upon request like wine, local honey, even teddys bears. Highly recommend

Loved having a patio and fireplace even though it was to warm to use it. The breakfast was great.

The drawers on the dresser would not open and close correctly. When you open the top drawer the 2 below came with it. The closet door would not open and close right. There were dead bugs on the ceiling of the shower. I found a live pincher bug in the rug for your feet in the bathroom. The faucet in the vanity area did not work right. We were not told there was major construction going on. We did not know we were on a golf course and they started mowing every morning at 6:30 am so no sleeping in. The maid redid our room 1 day and did not refill the coffee and water. We were there early and check in is 4:00 however our room was still not ready so they gave us another at 4:15. There is an alarm somewhere in the complex that goes off every day at around 5Pm and finally went and told them at 8pm and they found it and turned it off but happened again the next day.
