Very run down and outdated, over priced for what it was! Bathroom wasn’t the best (toiletries included was a small 2 in 1 soap pump on the wall) black mould around the bath and shower head was full of limescale carpet was all rising in places and coffee milk and sugar hadn’t been topped up before hand so there was none in the room for our stay

Room was dirty, bed spring sticking out of mattress that caught my leg. The electric fan was so dirty you wouldnt even switch it on. Shower curtain hanging off. Tea cups not cleaned for last customers.

The room we stayed in was really out of date. The water pressure in the shower was really low that made it difficult to have a shower. The carpet needs a good clean. Went downstairs and notice the staff making mistakes in food orders that's why we didn't order anything. Noticed the pub closed really early for a Friday.

we were lucky to be allocated room 2. a spacious room on first floor a really large bathroom wc shower bath have never stayed at a hotel with such a large bathroom the bedroom had king size bed another bed for our 2 year old grand daughter two windows with both fantastic views of sea and beach. the staff were excellent a credit to management .one member of staff hannah was so attentive to our grand daughter thank you. taking everything into consideration the spacious rooms.the sea views the friendly staff we feel that all hotels in weston should endeavour to reach these high standards

How dirty the room was , stains over beds , food and crumbs and rubbish on bedroom carpets bedside cabinets had lots of crumbs and greasy stuff on it ? , dirty bathroom bath was grimy and oily and there was no cold running water , mould all in bathroom , dusty and sticky stains on net curtains and walls and not the hotels fault but loud disrespectful guests until early hours .

There was enough space for a family however it was not a sea view, more like a car park view which I’d paid for sea view so not very impressed.

Not sea view, the paint or paper had come away from the wall and having a big suitcase there was nobody to help us up 3 flights of stairs, again not very impressed. Breakfast was quite expensive aswell.

The location was just right and cost of room was fair .

Waited 1 hour for continental breakfast and then it wasn’t all complete, waited 15 mins for drinks . Lack of staff poor staff member on was on her own dealing with everything so many ordered weren’t right or customers chasing their orders.

I wouldn’t usually write a negative review but feel I need to on this occasion. The hotel family room was good size bathroom could do with TLC but we got what we paid for I guess. Waited ages for drinks , continental breakfast we had to wait 1hr 30 mins and it wasn’t all there. Lots of people asking about their orders. This was not the member of staffs fault she was on her own trying to juggle everything. I would have stayed again but not booked breakfast until I got home and received a call with allegations of stealing towels and pillows! We had our own towels I used 1 small one as flannel when I was ill in the night. I find this very insulting and asking me to return them or pay for them? They need check the cameras and see we had a small bag each and £shop bag we wouldn’t have fitted pillows in etc. check with cleaners and the check list before making assumptions. Very disappointing so will not be returning again. Will be accusing us of taking toilet role next ! And the toilet brush. (There wasn’t one) Only had 1 and half role for 4 of us and I have Crohn’s disease with a stoma so I use frequently. Really thought we found our returning place every year until this. :(

The bathroom could do with updating

We stayed here last year, and this time a big improvement on the exterior of the building. Recognising some of the staff from last year, always cheerful and welcoming. We had room 2 this time, first floor, great views of the sea front, pier and beach. Like before room is a bit dated, but clean and tidy! Good size room with king size bed, and sofa bed if needed. Stayed for three nights, plenty of tea and coffee. Had an evening meal, tried the Hawkstone pie, Jeremy Clarkson, really tasty. Tried the Sunday lunch, the veg was all fresh, cooked to perfection, roast potatoes were on another level, absolutely the best. Half chicken was a bit on the dry side, but the turkey was perfect. Will definitely stay again.

Tried Sunday lunch here, was not what we were expecting. There was four of us, two had turkey, one beef and one half chicken. When the very polite young lady brought them out, it was “wow” all veg fresh not frozen, cauliflower cheese, fresh, the best roast potatoes any of us had ever had, the mash was an added bonus, so creamy and not frozen, the Yorkshire puddings were massive. The turkey was the best meat, so moist and tasty! It was nice having proper gravy. Will definitely be back, and can not recommend enough.

The location was great exactly in front of the sea!!

It was extremely hot, and there was no air conditioning. There was only a very small fan, which didn’t do anything. We couldn’t open the window any further, as it was only slightly open. There was also no fridge in the room where we could keep a cold drink or water.

The property is great for my single daughter and 2 children ,food great ,friendly staff

As I booked the lower family room with sea-view last yr on bookings.com,I booked the same room but sadly got a top floor smaller room with no lift . Too many stairs for my young grandchild Sadly I’m reluctant to book nxt yr unless I can get a guaranteed room I ask for 😵‍💫

We had a lovely room really big very nice staff gave us extra water because it was so hot last few days just amazing time with my to granddaughter who loved it xxx the coke was bit expensive for the children an the food for my budget but besides that overall brilliant we come back agsin soon loved aee stay xxxxx thanks to all the hard working staff nothing was to much well done to u all xxxxxxx

Great location, right on the seafront with a few minutes walk to the pier.

First nights sleep was difficult due to very bad mattress, but when we complained the next morning they changed us to a new room with a very comfortable mattress.

Very nice staff who went out of the way to help resolve an issue, very quickly and professionally. Top work guys

When we arrived at the Old Colonial on Friday 31st July 2026 we went to the bar to check-in and were told that our room 8 was on the top floor. When we asked to have a different room on the first floor as I have cerebral palsy and found it hard to go up the stairs they refused as it wasn't possible. When we asked a member of the male staff if they could help us with our suitcases he said to us " What do you have in here, dead bodies or something", we found that to be rude, insulting and patronising, end of the day they did not make any effort to accommodate people with disabilities. Very limited choice for breakfast. Had to order at the bar rather then help yourself. Staff didn't really make any effort to cater for dietary requirements. When we asked about an alternative to full fat butter for our toast we were told that they didn't have any alternative and that we had to accept what was given to us My wife and I have decided that we will not be staying at this hotel again as we were badly treated and received very bad customer service.

The shower was powerful and responsive. The service at breakfast was very quick. After hours access was quick and easy.

Maintenance detail: The drain plug/stopper in the sink in Room 5 was very leaky, otherwise the room facilities were perfect.

Liked that if room only needed bins and tea/coffee replenished this was done. Thank you Allowed to take a breakfast to room for elderly guest..again, thank you

Well just come back and had a lovely time manager and staff really polite the room was very spacious and clean the only issue was we struggled with stairs and that was my own fault not asking for a lower floor since having a stroke I do find it hard. But we had a lovely time and food was good. It's our second time going and enjoyed our stay so thank you.

Absolutely disgusting meals, chef should be sacked…. Mixed grill consisted of 2 ‘BEEFBURGERS’ 6 chips, burnt sausages & a piece of rubber steak, plus it took half an hour for a guy who looked unprofessional large & sweaty to tell me they had no prawns for my salad so I asked for deep fried cauliflower on the salad instead…. They came back with 4 deep fried cauliflower in a bowl on thier own! I said it should be on my salad! They brought it back out dumped on my salad like pieces of rock! I couldn’t even get a knife through them as they were completly burnt. I got my refund while my partners son got a replacement mixed grill but again it was burnt & not what you’d expect for £19, luckily the staff were great & refunded all our money… never again.

Having to leave 😕

We had made a booking for four of us prior to going to the theatre. We booked online and confirmed our booking as requested. When we arrived at the pub, we were told they had closed the kitchen. The place did not have the courtesy to let us know. Place was completely empty, rude staff and looks grim inside and out. Do yourself a favour and don’t bother going! We won’t be back.

The location. Check out was 11am which is a nice time. Fan in bedroom.

The cleanliness of the room. Mould infested in bathroom. Shower curtain was fabric and smelt like damp. Bath panel was wooden and rotting. Dirty windows couldn’t see sea view. Dirty bed base. You could hear people walking in the room above. You could hear convos in rooms around you. Furniture was dated/broken/chipped. Photos were wonky on walls. Carpets in room were stained. Breakfast was awful bacon was grey/green. Staff didn’t really know what they were doing. Waited an hour for my child’s dinner.

Unfortunately, our stay at the Old Colonial was very disappointing. The room itself was far below the standard we expected. The bathroom had mould on the ceiling, the fabric shower curtain was stained orange with dirt and had a strong damp smell, and the windows overlooking the sea were so filthy that they spoiled what should have been a lovely view. The hotel also has no lift, which made carrying luggage up the stairs extremely difficult. The rooms are not soundproof at all – we could clearly hear people walking around in the room above us, along with other noises throughout our stay, making it hard to relax or get a good night’s sleep. Service was equally disappointing. We ordered food for our daughter, and it took over an hour to arrive. Breakfast was included in our booking, yet we were incorrectly charged for it. When we queried the charge, rather than apologising or resolving it promptly, we were told we’d have to wait over an hour for the refund to be processed, which was incredibly frustrating. The breakfast itself was also very poor. The bacon was grey and unappetising, and the toast had only been toasted on one side, making it feel rushed and of a very low standard. Overall, the cleanliness, poor soundproofing, disappointing food, and lack of customer service meant this was not an enjoyable stay. We won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it based on our experience.

Shower pretty much unusable water flys around everywhere except where you want it , floor soaking wet . Shower and toilet in desperate need of updating as is the whole room needs a refurb with floorboards in awful condition . Hardly any sleep due to someone in the next room watching tv loudly untill almost 5am . An awful experience

The fact that we have paid twice, I had paid for this on my account, my partner checked us in, the manager told my partner that the payment for the Ron had not been made and that we could not stay unless we paid, “ he assumed I had only made a reservation not paid which often happens with bookings .com” so he paid so we could stay “ on checking my account you had took the payment but you had not paid the hotel, he must have known this but didn’t want the hassle of chasing you for the money, can you please refund my account, I did contact you but still heard nothing

Where do I start, the rooms are extremely run down & dirty. The young evening bar lady manager was rude we arrived for food and drinks around 8pm only to told drinks only and we are shutting bar so hurry up and order. We spoke to the manager of the hotel who was equally flippant we paid a decent rate for our two night stay but services were lacking and we certainly won’t be returning. Poor show Marstons!! I have stopped in many over the years but the old colonial is one I will be avoiding .

I've been a few times and have always found the staff, kind and helpful. A lady today came out to the beer garden and asked me if I wanted a bowl of water for my dog and it's this type of thoughtfulness from the staff, that makes me keep coming back.

We have been staying here for over 8 years and have noticed a remarkable change this time under the new management. The breakfast was the best we've had and the toilets in the bar are in the process of having a much needed face-lift. The room, as always was extremely clean and comfortable
