Room and private onsen very good , location beautiful.

I thought from booking , that dinner was to be served in the room but when I asked about this they said no- in restaurant . This had no atmosphere as only one other couple came in much later and on the back wall of the restaurant , lots of boxes and furniture was piled up , partly covered with sheets . However, the main issue I had was that we asked that one of our party , who was vegetarian, would not be joining for dinner in the restaurant , but that no other food was being asked for. They refused this request and said that either all 3 of us had to eat in the restaurant, or we should all find a vegetarian restaurant away from the hotel. ( which would have been impossible as it is remote) . I found this extremely rude . We were quite happy to pay the full price for all 3 , and were not at all asking for any discount , but to force a vegetarian person to sit through several courses of raw fish was completely unacceptable . This attitude towards guests was very untypical of levels of service in Japan , in other places.

The staff serving dinner and breakfast was nice - and ready to help with transfers and stuff. Other than that we consider our stay to have been a disappointment. The condition of the facilities is pretty much deteriorated with humidity all over and broken wood. The photos are really misleading in terms of what you’ll actually get - expect much worse. During the kaiseki (which is not a traditional kaiseki) you have to pay for your own drinks (you take them from the mini bar).

The room was traditional style Japanese very cool to experience. The hotel attached has the amenities and looks nicer. The property design was ver well done.

The rooms were nice but you can see water damage, soiled spots in the ceiling. It was clean but a few spots were missed.

A very traditional ryokan experience. The staff were extremely accommodating and helpful when we asked if we could swap to their sister hotel which appeared to be in better condition, however this was not the case. The Kaiseki dinners were very good.

There was a lot to dislike. The smell of cigar smoke was overwhelming especially with the humidity, the furniture and carpets are worn and in desperate need of a clean. The decking around the onsen bath was rotten and we were worried about falling through, and all the timber around the shower floor was rotting. This place is in serious need of an upgrade.

お部屋にある温泉もとても良かったです。お部屋でお食事が出来、友人と久しぶりにゆっくりと美味しいお食事を頂きゆったりと過ごせるスペースでした。

天井のクロスの剥がれやシミが目立ち、寝たり、起きたりする時に目が行ってしまい残念でした。きっとお掃除とか行き届いていたので、残念だわと何回か感じた点です。

期待したよりお風呂全般が古めかしい感じがしましたし、部屋も同様でした 私がイメージしていた時の雫ではなかったです 他の部屋はわかりませんが？ 朝食は洋食でしたがパンを付けて頂きたかったです

El mantenimiento de las instalaciones es nulo. Me daba miedo pisar la terraza por si se rompían las tablas. Algunas estaban sueltas.

Das Zimmer im großen und Ganzen war ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen und das sah und roch man auch. Allerdings war es ziemlich gut ausgestattet und eigentlich hat es uns an nichts gefehlt. Der private Onsen war genial und auch wenn das Holz schon etwas angegriffen war darf man nicht unterschlagen das dort Quellwasser immer warm reinläuft. Das war ein absolutes plus am ganzen zimmer. Wir haben dort gern entspannt und die Ruhe vor Ort genossen. Denn Ruhe bietet dieses Hotel. Gelegen an einem Hang inmitten der Wälder. Absolut schönes Ambiente was man dort von seiner Terrasse aus begutachten kann. Das Essen wurde uns aufs Zimmer geliefert und das Essen war wirklich sehr gut, inkl. der Kellnerin die es gebracht hat. Diese war unglaublich freundlich und nett und hat alles erklärt und uns bei allem geholfen. Einfach ein Riesen Plus an diesem Hotel.

Es war halt alles ein bisschen älter und es modrig roch. Die Anbindung ohne Auto ist nicht die beste. Man kann mit dem Bus hochfahren allerdings muss man dann noch ein Stück den Berg hochwandern.

Dinner was very nice with a variety of local Hakone dishes. Onsen was good, the water was hot, full of nutrients and provided the necessary calming sensation that I had hoped for. The room was also nicely decorated. Staff was extremely nice to us.

The atmosphere. We came on a not-so-busy day for the hotel, thus the hotel felt a bit scary due to the emptiness and the silence all around. I know high-class Japanese hotels are supposed to be quiet - but Hakone Tokinoshizuku was on the extreme side. The spooky atmosphere got even worse with the old creaking floors and equipment. Even the elevator made weird noises as it moved up and down - we thought we were in a scary movie. At the end nothing happened but I guess the hotel should revamp the whole atmosphere and fix the broken equipment. They are quite old.

Équipements un peu vétuste.

O serviço é irrepreensível. Os empregados são muito prestáveis a perguntar em cada dia quais são os nossos planos, de forma a ajudar nas nossas deslocações com o serviço de shuttle (o que num sítio como Hakone resolve muitos problemas). A comida era fantástica e a localização é ótima, perto do Open Air Museum e do início da ropeway.

Penso que o Hotel ganharia muito em fazer renovações, nomeadamente porque o edifício está bastante afetado pela humidade.

La vasca termale, cena e colazione in camera fantastiche!! La privacy che hai avendo la camera immersa in un bosco è unica. Il silenzio incredibile. Lo staff gentilissimo e molto disponibile.

La nostra camera potrebbe essere rinnovata, alcuni mobili e la vasca avrebbero bisogno di una piccola ristrutturazione.

Just about everything went well. The view from the room was amazing and the service from the staff was top notch.

Nous avons eu un très bel accueil, le personnel etait très gentil. Le restaurant d’une belle qualité. Service en 11 plats un peu trop surtout pour les enfants. Petit déjeuner parfait. Le onsen (bain privatif dans la chambre fut très agréable)

L'odeur d'humidité dans la chambre, dérangeante surtout pour dormir. Les tatamis n'étaient pas très confortable. La wifi une catastrophe ! Il faut savoir que la navette n’est pas a disposition toute la journée, contrairement a ce que j'avais compris.

Calme absolu, onsen prive, près du bus., personne incroyablement gentil même si parfois la barrière de la langue complique la compréhension. Le repas est dingue, copieux royal même.

Un petit rafraîchissement va devoir pointer le bout de son nez

・室内露天風呂が綺麗だった。温度も長く入れる丁度いい加減。 ・お食事の刺身が新鮮で脂がのっていた。 ・夕食の際に記念日のケーキと花束を用意していただけた。またケーキの残りを朝に再度提供もらうなど柔軟にご対応いただけた。 ・スタッフの方が丁寧さを心がけていた。 ・室内から山を眺められ、開放感があり良かった。 ・全体的に清潔感のある室内だった。しかしテレビのリモコンに埃が被っており、そこまで綺麗にしていただけると尚良いなと感じた。 ・チェックアウト時間が12時と、時間にゆとりがあってとてもゆっくり出来た。

・室内の白壁は全体的に薄黒く汚れていて、かなり古びた印象を持った。あえて古い雰囲気を出しているとかでなければ張り替えを推奨したい。 ・室内に大きな蜘蛛が出てスプレーで退治してもらった。虫が出ること自体は致し方ないが、スプレーを部屋にまくのは極力やめた方がいいと感じる。 ・朝ごはんの時間を8:30に指定していたが8:00に運ばれてきた。結局8:30に再提供していただき、その際に謝罪をしていただけたものの、8:00に作られたものを8:30に提供されたのかな？と疑問を感じてしまった。 ・朝ごはんの際に前日の夜に食べたケーキの半分を持ってきてもらえたものの、それ用のフォークをつけてくれていなかった。 ・12:00にチェックアウトしたが、領収書を部屋にお待ちするのでお待ちくださいと言われ、そこから20分待ったところで電話がきて、「領収書順番にご用意してるのでお待ちください」と言われ、さらにそこから10分待ったので、別に領収書いらないのでもう大丈夫ですと伝えようと思い電話をしたら送迎バスが遅れてるという別の理由を言われた。 さらにそこから10分待ったところで電話がきて、送迎のバスが出せなくなったといわれた。 合計40分待って結局送迎をやめて自分たちでバス停まで向かったが、最初から送迎バスが出せない可能性含めて選択肢を迫って欲しかったし、理由をちゃんと伝えて欲しかった。 帰る際に、バスをだせない理由を聞いたが最初無視されたので、再度聞いたら運転手が急遽水道管の工事に入ってしまったとのことだった。

The kaiseki dinner was fantastic and the staff were kind and accomodating.

The furniture felt dated, and the property and room not well maintained. The aircon and carpets felt musky.

Nous tenons à remercier le concierge, qui a été d’une grande gentillesse tout au long de notre séjour. Toujours souriant, serviable et attentif, il a fait tout son possible pour rendre notre expérience agréable. Son professionnalisme mérite d’être salué et contraste malheureusement avec la déception que nous avons ressentie concernant l’état de la chambre.

Nous sommes extrêmement déçus par notre séjour. Nous savions que la météo pouvait empêcher de voir le mont Fuji, mais cela n’excuse en rien l’état de la chambre. Le plafond était couvert de larges taches d’humidité suspectes et de nombreux filaments ressemblant à des poils ou des fibres, donnant une impression de saleté et de manque d’entretien. À ce niveau de prix, c’est tout simplement inacceptable. Nous avons réservé un ryokan haut de gamme pour vivre une expérience d’exception, et nous avons eu le sentiment de séjourner dans un établissement qui n’est pas entretenu au niveau attendu. C’est indigne de la réputation et du tarif pratiqués. Nous ne reviendrons pas et ne le recommanderons pas.

Hakone Tokinoshizuku was one of the highlights of our Japan trip. The private open-air onsen overlooking the mountains was incredibly relaxing, and the views from both the room and dining area were stunning. The kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast were beautifully presented and delicious, making every meal feel like an experience. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the staff provided exceptional hospitality from check-in to check-out. It was the perfect place to slow down and unwind.

We stayed in the Corner Suite on Level 5. The staff were friendly and the food was enjoyable, and the onsen itself was relaxing. However, the accommodation was a major letdown. There was mould in the room, broken floorboards in the shower, and the room felt tired and poorly maintained throughout. The timber surrounding the onsen also looked old and weathered, which took away from what should have been a premium experience. We also asked for a map of the local area, but the hotel was unable to provide one, which was surprising for a property catering to visitors. There were also no complimentary bottles of water in the room, which felt like an odd omission given the price and standard the hotel aims to offer. For what was the most expensive accommodation of our trip, it simply did not match the photos or the standard we expected. While the hospitality and meals were good, the overall condition of the property meant we left disappointed.

空調の音が尋常じゃない大きさで8月と気温は高かったけど寝る時はエアコンと空気清浄機を消しました その他が良かっただけに、空調の点検をされた方がいいと思います スタッフさんに伝えましたら、この音はどうすることも出来ないみたいでした

Hela vårt rum luktade mögel, fukt. Det var svart runt AC i taket på de två stora maskinerna i rummet. Lukten stack i näsan. Det gick knappt att sova. Vi fick en lukt flaska med citronolja att ställa i rummet fr dem. De sa att lukten berodde på regnet.

Location and hosts

The food was excellent, the stuff was very polite and helpful, it was convenient with the the shuttle to train stations and bus stops . The room was very spacious and it was great to have a private onsen on the terrace.

There was some moist in the room.

Fantastic experience in a lovely property. Food was very good.

Seemed expensive for what it was, and being only people there meant there was no atmosphere in the restaurant.

The room was gorgeous, very spacious, and had a breathtaking view of the mountains and trees. The design was a perfect mix of modern and traditional, with comfortable amenities and furniture mixed with beautiful wood, shoji, and tatami. The staff was very attentive and provided VIP service from check-in to check-out. The food was visually stunning and delicious, and was a harmonious blend of Western and Japanese across the courses. The private balcony onsen was so unbelievably comfortable and relaxing, and we used it many times throughout our stay.

The location was a bit inconvenient as it's a bit off the main road and only accessible through a winding series of narrow, steep roads. My partner and I wanted to explore the town a bit during the afternoon of our stay but was informed that the shuttle service was only applicable for check-in and check-out. This was fine as we were very happy staying in the room for the duration of our stay, but I would advise that it would take some time and effort should you choose to walk to the nearest train stop yourself.

Se ve viejo y descuidado, con polvo y humedad en las habitaciones, alfombras raídas y olor a humedad. El edificio anexo donde se ubica nuestra habitación con baño termal privado se ve solitario, más como un edificio de apartamentos. La comida no está a la altura de un 5 estrellas. Además de que una persona no podía comer marisco y lo eliminaron de todos los platos del resto del grupo sin ni siquiera avisar. Mala gestión de la dirección.

湿気が多いせいかカビが施設に多く存在し、浴槽も同様で、昼間だとよく見える為、入浴しづらい。浴槽の床がブヨブヨである。浴槽の床がぬるぬるである等。施設はメンテが必要なのでは！入り口からエントランス迄階段のみで、足の悪い母には気の毒なことをしてしまった。

Conhecer a experiência de decoração e cômodos com estilo japonês tradicional. A comida estava muito boa, mas teve um prato que não gostamos que não precisavam ter repetido no dia seguinte.

A iluminação a noite era muito escura. Alguns itens do quarto estavam estragados, como armários, piso do banheiro, assoalho do box do banheiro etc.

Incredible location, would recommend to anyone 10/10. On the pricier side but absolutely worth it considering they bring you a 6 course meal with bedroom service that is very curated and traditional.

Location is distant from railway and amenities. While they mentioned that massage services are available, but when requested it is fully booked. Understand that these are provided externally and beyond their control. May want to consider not providing such options to avoid disappointment

La cena inclusa è stata un’esperienza incredibile. Viene servita direttamente in camera e comprende tantissime portate, dal pesce crudo alle specialità tipiche del luogo. Gustarla indossando il kimono, con una vista sulla valle, è stato davvero speciale. Inoltre, l’onsen privato è qualcosa di indescrivibile. Assolutamente consigliatissima.

Première expérience en Ryokan juste exceptionnel. Un personnel aux petits soins et un repas incroyable, préparé et servi avec l’habituelle classe japonaise.

Location wasn’t the best, but the hotel did pick up and drop off at the station which helped. Dinner was fabulous, we wish the breakfast was also Japanese instead of Western.

We asked the lady doing our welcome and orientation to book a massage for the evening after dinner. Instead of booking it for us, she said she could book with our server during dinner. When dinner came and we asked to book with our server he said there was no more availability that it was all full. This was extremely disappointing as if she had booked it for us on arrival there was availability. We were so sad and upset. This was for our honeymoon and the one night we were really treating ourselves. It really ruined our experience.

Immense chambre avec Onsen, calme, vue sur la montagne et la vallée, mise à disposition du Shuttle pour nous récupérer et nous amener à la gare, personnel extrêmement gentil, le diner servi dans la chambre était incroyable :)

Temperature de l'Onsen vraiment trop chaude donc on a du faire appel au personnel à chaque fois qu'on voulait l'utilier pour diminuer la température. Certains endroits du balcon vraiment très abimés par l'humidité.

枕元の電話を置かれているところ、丁度横になると目に入ったのですが、隅々に埃が付いているのが気になりました。 換気扇の音が大きく、夜はオフにして休みました。

We had an incredible stay at Tokinoshizuku Hakone and honestly our only regret is that we stayed for just two nights. Everything was wonderful: the delicious kaiseki dinners, the private onsen, the spacious traditional Japanese room, and all the amenities and thoughtful touches provided throughout our stay. We especially loved the peaceful atmosphere in the mountains, away from the crowds, where we could truly relax and enjoy the beauty of Hakone. What made the experience even more special was the staff. Everyone was exceptionally kind, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our stay memorable. We felt very well looked after from the moment we arrived until our departure.

If we had to mention a couple of small areas for improvement, the property could benefit from some light renovations in certain places, while of course preserving its authentic charm and traditional character. Also, the breakfast was very good, but compared to the outstanding dinners, it felt slightly less special. A more traditional Japanese breakfast experience would make it even better.

Abbiamo aspettato 30 minuti al sole lo shuttle bus anche se erano stati contattati ripetutamente per indicare il nostro orario di arrivo. Il personale parla poco o male l'inglese, la struttura è piena di difetti: muffa ovunque, pavimenti pieni di segni, crepe e buchi, polvere ovunque, mobili fatiscenti e che cadono a pezzi, vetri sporchi, balcone sporco, pieno di muschio, insetti e buchi ovunque. La vasca in camera di scarsa fattura, piena di chiodi sporgenti, con le tavole consumate o rotte. Abbiamo trovato uno scarafaggio in camera che abbiamo dovuto intrappolare col cestino della spazzatura e all'interno del balcone del piano superiore c'è un enorme nido di calabroni che infestavano il balcone. Il cibo non era all'altezza delle nostre aspettative, le pietanze che avrebbero dovuto essere calde sono arrivate fredde, poca varietà nella colazione. I servizi offerti sono scarsi: wifi che funziona poco e male, nessun tipo di bevanda in camera a parte quelle a pagamento nel minibar, l'onsen pubblica si trova in un'altra struttura che ti costringe ad uscire a piedi per raggiungerla, il phon danneggiato. Inoltre per l'esperienza vissuta il prezzo è decisamente troppo elevato ed è presente una tassa del 10% che non è specificata al momento della prenotazione su Booking. Le foto non rendono neanche l'idea della polvere, della muffa e delle crepe che abbiamo trovato.

We stayed for 2 nights. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The food and the in room service were exceptional . The shuttle service, to and from local train stations and bus stops was very convenient and timely. The view from the room was fantastic !

The room was starting to show its age although this did add to the atmosphere. The futon bed and the buckwheat pillows were extremely firm, but I expected this having read previous reviews.

The staff members were all very friendly and eager to ensure we had everything we needed. We appreciated the amount of space in the room and the quietness of the property.

The property itself seemed a bit run down, especially the onsen in our unit. In addition, the location was not near anything such as museums, etc. Also, the price felt high for what we got.

A lovely quiet retreat and taste of old Japanese food and hospitality

Overall the room and hotel did not live up to the expectations according to our booking. The room was damaged, dirty and moldy, a clear hazardous place to stay in. We did an immediate check-out and demanded refund. The only good thing I would say is that the hotel staff was very kind and helped us get to the train station after checkout. I guess they too felt bad for us coming all that way to then feel disappointed and catfished…

The whole place was coming apart. The outside looked like it had not been maintained in years, the lobby and the corridors were dusty and wallpaper and carpet were clearly coming apart all around. The room was as mentioned damaged, dirty and moldy, not a healthy place to stay in. The walls were all stained and dusty. The Onsen bath was broken and the wooden boards on the outside were broken with large holes.. the list goes on. We checked out immediately.

The hotel is small. Only eight gorgeous huge suite rooms. They truly embodied a zen experience. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. The private onsen in the balcony was a treat. Everything had a place. There was nothing more or less. Just perfect. We felt pampered and had an amazingly relaxed stay. It was great to come back to the room and relax in the onsen after a day of sightseeing. Dinner was amazing and Japanese hospitality at its best

I really enjoyed the hospitality and the staff at the Hakone Tokinoshizuku, they were very attentive and provided an excellent service. The breakfast and dinner (exceptional food, I had some of my best meals during my 2 weeks stay in Japan) are served in the room which makes the experience very intimate. The corner suite with private Onsen is amazing, incredible views with privacy.

A little refreshing of the rooms and terrace (paint) would be nice but I was too stunned by the views and service.

The food

Het personeel is fantastisch, niks is te veel, alles met een glimlach. Hier kunnen veel (de meeste) westerse hotels nog een hoop van leren.

Niks viel tegen. Ja het pand is wat verouderd, dat mag op zo'n plek.

The staff were incredibly attentive. The room was incredibly spacious and the food we were served in our room was delicious. The onsen and view on the balcony were delightful.

The the balcony was a little bit dilapidated. There were a few holes and some broken floorboards which could cause an injury. The location is a little out the way from the main areas of Hakone.

Beautiful room and amenities. Staff and food amazing :)

The entrance to the hotel felt not as nice as the sister hotel :(
