I loved that it was on the beach and within walking distance of Splash cafe I also loved the retro feel of the room but in a classy clean way. The added outdoor seating and connected cafe was also very nice

Privacy within rooms. The acoustics, I was able to hear the neighbors dog barking in the afternoon when I wanted to relax and unwind after a 5 hour drive.

Ocean view was good but there was $30.00 parking fee and the $25.00 destination fee for the registered guest as an extra which they did not notify their guest at all and charged afterward on my credit card all by their own will.

Real bad service on the assignment of room without the ocean view so I have to request changing of my room strongly then they moved me to ocean view. I surely hope that they do not ignore their guest as a look and treat equally!!!

The cost of the room for what it is is crazy. Placement is odd too. Yes I can see the pier but while staring at the side of the hotel building next to me. For this price, it should’ve been advertised that it’s an obstructed pier view. This was my birthday trip and honestly having to stare at other people’s hotel rooms across the way and vice versa kind of killed my mood of what I envisioned as a dream birthday vacation. The bed was also WAY too soft. I woke up hurting

Room was drafty and loud because of it, wasn’t stocked for the 3 of us, mentioned wife had major surgery recently and we were given a room furthest from the elevator resulting in lots of walking, ceiling has water damage stain about one bed, sheets & towels were all stained

The rooms were a little small. The carpet in front of the elevator on the first floor was pretty dirty. The front desk was not as pleasant as welcome during checking in the cleaning stuff also is not very friendly.

Very clean and easy access to the beach.

No pool, traditional bar or restaurant, just a walk up option for food and drink. Building we were in was a separate building from the main hotel.

The front desk staff was unwelcoming, unpleasant, and lacked basic customer service skills. We booked a room online and were surprised by an extra nightly “destination fee” charge that was not disclosed until our arrival/check-in. Parking was an additional $30 per night as well. We were also charged for items supposedly included in this “destination fee”, and the hotel has not been responsive when trying to reconcile the amounts charged. This is a dog friendly hotel, and our room did smell like urine in some areas. The door did not seal well when shut, letting several bugs in overnight. The beds were not very comfortable. The location is right on the beach, which is convenient. That being said, there are plenty of other options in Pismo that have a great location, better amenities, and staff with more hospitality. There are many more 1 and 2 star reviews with the same complaints—and management has acknowledged them, but these problems are not actually being fixed. Clearly they are not interested in making changes. We will not be returning.

You should book here! This hotel and location are perfect. The staff is so nice and helpful. When booking make sure you read everything that is included. There is a "destination fee" which is basically a resort fee, that includes a lot of things you should take advantage of. Extra charge for parking, but what hotel doesn't charge for that? I've stayed here 3 times and I have never been disappointed!

It’s very professional and the staff are very helpful. I hope that when guests arrive, they can enjoy the experience. I will always stay here whenever I visit Pismo.

Location was great but the room left a lot to be desired. The room is extremely small - bathroom is VERY small. We took 2 of our grandchildren and we were on top of each other in the room - it was way too small for 4 people. Room service was out of a lot of the items that we were trying to order. They didn't even offer sugar substitute for their coffee - which was very odd to me.

Do NOT stay at this hotel. This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I've had, especially considering the premium price. Customer service was poor throughout our stay. The staff often seemed impatient and often not present in helping guests. The room was a major letdown. The bathroom had an unpleasant odor, and it was dirty. Although the hotel appears to market itself as newly renovated, the renovations felt superficial. It looked like old, worn surfaces had simply been painted over, and the room still felt old and dirty underneath. Another frustrating experience was the on-site café. The prices we were charged were higher than the prices displayed on the menu board, and the "Starbucks" drinks were watered down and disappointing. At checkout, I was also charged rather than credited for the supposedly complimentary $10 cafe order offered by the hotel, adding to an already frustrating experience. Unfortunately, everything about this property felt designed to appear more luxurious than it actually is. The "complimentary beach chairs" turned out to be basic camping chairs. We also frequently had to share the guest elevators with the housekeeping crew transporting large garbage bins, which further detracted from the experience. Overall, this hotel charges five-star prices but delivers an experience that falls far short of those expectations. Between the poor customer service, worn-down rooms disguised as renovated, pricing inconsistencies at the café, and disappointing amenities, I would not recommend staying here.

Room they put us in was directly next to their cafe. It was very loud early in the morning waking up the family. Also they started charging a parking and “destination” fee that adds a bit to your bill.

The location was great and the scene was wonderful. The staff at bar were very friendly.

Despite traveling with a group of 4 families, I was the only one placed in a separate building, even though I paid the same rate or perhaps a bit higher than the others. Furthermore, my room was not ready until late in the afternoon. Prior to my arrival, I called and left a message for the General Manager to discuss my reservation, but I never received a return call. Plus the front desk staff member was unable to provide an explanation or offer any assistance.

30.00 parking fee?!!!!! For 1 night?! Didn’t see that anywhere when I was booking. We paid it of course. Front desk said we could park on the street if we wanted. Seriously! It’s a beach town there is no street parking to be found! Raise your rates to include parking if you really need the parking fee.

Beachfront hotel with great customer service. Relaxing to sit by a fire pit with a glass of wine. The small cafe has a great selection of food and drinks. This was my second stay here. This time I did not have a room in the main hotel but over the carport. It was noisy and I was also next to the ice machine. Next time I will make sure my room is in the main hotel. I highly recommend this place for the great location and customer service.

This hotel is in a fantastic location. The staff are mostly helpful. The room rate for two nights, plus tax, parking, was over $1600 for two nights. That is for a single room with a view of the parking lot. The room is small, bathroom is small. I can hear my room neighbor’s conversations like they are in the room with me. There is ZERO soundproofing. There are lamps with power outlets at the base of the lamp, and the outlets are ornamental only; the lamp power outlets do not work at all - this is one of the oddest things I have ever seen in all my years of traveling. I went to find another power outlet to plug in a device. There is an extension cord, someone threw up behind the nightstand onto the extension cord. I called the front desk to report this and asked them to clean it, the apologized and said they would send someone. They never did; nothing was done. While this hotel is located right in the beach, the value stops there.

Great location that is right on the beach and close to the pier but still quiet. Easy to walk everywhere. Nice to have the in-room fridge with microwave access in the floor pantry. Beach view king room with balcony was wonderful and parking was easy. Will stay again!

This hotel I rate a zero. The bathroom was awful! It smelled moldy. The glass shower door was stuck. I was afraid to close it because I was afraid it would fall on my body or face. This I felt was a hazard. The cracks on the shower had lot's of mold and stuck dirt in the cracks. The bathroom had a strong moldy smell. The bathroom door would not close properly, it was too close to the toilet. The lamps did not work properly and were very old. The only thing that was good about this room was the ocean view, period! I will never stay here again. The staff in the receptionist were not friendly and rude. We did have to wait 4 hours to get our room could not check in early even though I requested an early arrival. I will never stay here again.

They should not charge for parking

I had an amazing experience here and would recommend this place. Clean and friendly and so close to everything and affordable. They out did themselves when helping me with my son’s proposal and this is the perfect place for it.

No reliable room service. It took 45 minutes to get 3 small slider burgers! They removed the hot tub.

Beautiful and perfect location for a family vacation to the beach. This hotel provides free amenities (like beach chairs and towels), which helps if you forget to pack a few items. The parking is a bit pricey (for $30/night), however this is fairly normal for the area and with the hotel being walking distance to everything that Pismo has to offer, we didn't have to leave the lot much. Parking is very convenient to the room locations as it is a small lot that is more central to the hotel. Access to the beach is very easy (especially those with small children). Our room was clean and smelled nice when we came in. I think the only real thing I could be picky on was that the fan in the bathroom was loud an clanky and I wish there were more towel racks outside of the tub for hanging towels we might want to reuse. There is just the rack inside the shower and the shelf under the sink to hold towels. Installing a hook or two in the bathroom can make a huge difference. But the bathroom was a nice size and lots of counter space. The beds and pillows were comfy and our room was spacious. It was quiet. We heard the most just doors closing, but it was very quiet at night, so no complaints there. The service was nice. I connected with the employee who was working at the cafe (The Deck) who was sweet. Being a former Starbucks employee, we were talking coffee, which was fun. The few staff members we saw (front desk and cleaning staff) were nice and smiled and made eye contact. That makes all the difference in the world. Overall, I think if the price is right, we will come back. Since it is easy for use to travel during the week, we took advantage of the 3-day special. Costs of hotels are high these days, so being able to be so close to the coast for a good price, was totally worth it!

We stayed at Sandcastles Hotel one night on our way from San Francisco to Los Angeles. We wish we could’ve stayed longer because the hotel and the view from our room was amazing! The staff was friendly and in general the atmosphere and the location of the hotel was great!

I liked pretty much everything. The view was amazing. The rooms were cleaned and we had no issues with anything. The balcony feature was worth every penny. Front desk was top tier. Breakfast and everything that was offered was great!

atendimento pela recepção, apenas uma pessoa que fica em um quarto no fundo e nao tem nem uma campainha para chamar. precisa ficar gritando para alguém atender em alguns horários. Sempre resolveram tudo prontamente, nao é o fim do mundo, mas acredito que é um ponto a melhorar.

Haven’t stayed for a long time. The hotel has really transitioned into a cool resort. It’s more full service than it was before. James and his staff are kind and attentive. Get the ocean front room and you won’t be disappointed. You can sleep with the doors open and hear the ocean while you sleep.

Close location to all the eateries. The pier was a very nice addition, too.

Couldn't control the air conditioner like I wanted. Hot some nights and cold the others. Finally found my happy medium at the end of my stay. Vacation ended too soon!!

Just a few steps from the boardwalk & pier [technically about one hotel over, which I prefer as it's less crowded & noisy than if we were right at the pier]. Great views from the balcony/patio on the 2nd floor center of the hotel. Accommodations were simple, tasteful, modern beachy aesthetic. Found a used towel with many long hairs behind the bathroom door on the side of the bathtub [likely accidentally left after cleaning crew was there]. After I showed the front desk the photo, they remedied it promptly and brought many extra clean towels. The front desk/reception area is off the parking lot, making it feel like the back of the hotel [I guess because the front faced the ocean and had the lounge/Cafe area]. The desk was small and most of the time, you had to wait a few seconds before someone would come out from a back room. Honestly, this experience reminded me a bit of going into a gas station service station [so not the best]. The "attendants" were basically courteous and mostly helpful, if not overtly friendly or welcoming. The Cafe experience was minimal - a counter to order some menu items [breakfasty type sandwiches and pastries I think?] and drinks. It was a little like you'd find a Starbucks inside of a Safeway. (I'm from WA the past 20+ years so expected a better assortment of hot drinks and was disappointed they didnt have a London Fog or even Earl Grey tea]. The hotel next door had a great restaurant on the 3rd floor with great ocean views and service, for finer dining options.

Screen door wouldn't slide. Room was not attractive. Walls very thin could hear eople in the next room. Had to call front office to request housekeeping to come to our room.

The hotel has the best location along the beach and the rooms are great! Very nice bistro with 2 large television screens to enjoy sporting events. Bikes are provided for no additional charge. Val at the front desk is amazing! She makes you feel very welcome and she is so kind, helpful and professional, exuding such positive energy!

Friday night and Saturday night were pricey. Sunday night was very reasonable. The staff made staying another night doable and we enjoyed our time there.

This was our first time staying at Sandcastle Hotel, and we cannot wait to return! We’ve previously stayed at its sister property on the cliffs in Pismo, so we were excited to try this location. The location is truly unbeatable—you’re just steps from the beach, the pier, and plenty of great food options. It made everything so easy and walkable, which we loved. The only thing to note is that the hotel doesn’t offer additional amenities like a pool or hot tub. However, for us, the incredible location more than made up for it. Overall, a fantastic stay, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

The beach is right outside and they have a little snack place and fire pits on site.

Our room was nice but there were no hooks for towels!!!! They supply beach towels and no were to hang anything! So if you are more then two people you have no where to hang a towel or wet clothing. There is a large blanket wall in bathroom. Also no place to hang to hand towel after washing hands. It is kinda a big deal breaker

FUNCIONA BIEN

Sandcastle has been at the center of Pismo Pier for some time. The staff take great strides to accommodate our requests. The room was cleaned daily, which seems to be a extra perk theses days at other hotels. There are so many things to do in walking distance from the hotel. No headaches with traffic once you arrive, dining , shopping, amd beach fun is right there near the Sandcastle. Fun for the entire family !

Extremely bad customer service from an individual named Ricki working the food and beverage purchase location in the evening. Ricki is antagonistic, rude and disrespectful. When I asked for a supervisor, he provided a card with a bar code link for Trip Advisor, Google and Yelp. I emailed the hotel instead to let them know about his attitude. They did not respond to me so I assume they would rather have a post online.
