Breakfast was good with plant based options
Lovely hotel in a nice setting.Friendly check in and check out Amazing breakfast and on the whole enjoyed our stay. 3 sour points....refused a drink at 10pm despite advertising as open till 11...disturbed at 2pm,drunken guests trying doors as obviously couldnt find their room...bathroom had occasional stench, possible drainage problem.....
Quirky room, really comfy bed, clean, value for money, friendly staff, fab breakfast, good pub, lovely beer garden. Would definitely recommend and stay again
Our fourth stay at this lovely hotel. The room was just the right size, big comfortable bed. Pillows could have been better, they were small & flat. We didn’t realise until the morning that shower gel/shampoo were missing and the bath plug did not have a rubber seal. We had Sunday lunch and breakfast in the restaurant. All food hot and tasty.
We have stayed twice before and were given the room with the double baths again which sadly we didn’t have time to take advantage of. The room is spacious with a big four poster bed. There was a great fan provided which helped greatly with the warm weather. Breakfast was great but there was quite a delay between ordering and receiving our food. The food was hot and delicious though.
The lovely lady at check in was amazing. Super friendly and got us checked in very quickly. It was a concert night so the bar was busy but the guys behind it were friendly and fast. The room had a fab roll top bath and a bureau. Really different but we loved it. The lady server at breakfast was unhappy though and couldn't hide it.
Nice room not the fan provided was not powerful enough to cool it down
Really lovely stay, but the rooms aren't really equipped to deal with hot weather unfortunately. Only one window opened slightly and it was so hot there wasn't
2 night stay in room 8. Very comfortable Old style modern twist 👍
I would highly recommend to stay here. I enjoyed the quirky decor and was very clean and comfortable. I was suprised to find I had a bath in my room but no shower but made a change! The room was in the attic so very hot but once I'd turned off the radiator, opened the windows and staff found me a fan it was ok.Good breakfast and would return when next in the area.
This rustic hotel room was just what I needed for a relaxing stay. It had a warm, cozy feel with wooden furniture and soft lighting. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the bed was great for a good night’s sleep. The vibe was super chilled—quiet, peaceful, and perfect for getting away from the noise. If you’re looking to unwind in a calm, rustic setting, this place is perfect.
Lady Receptionist excellent, food similar, room spacious (Room 4) only issue next to customer toilet with a very noisy hand dryer……the hotel was empty so personally would have allocated a different room….
Food was amazing, staff were friendly, room was comfortable and luxurious. Absolutley perfect.
Perfect for a short romantic weekend getaway away from home. Everything about this place is spot on - atmosphere, food, service, music, except for the bed mattress which is really not what you would expect.
Very enjoyable good location, 15 min walk to central Edinburgh. Stayed in the Georgian suite, very nice. Parking outside on rings app, as in most of Edinburgh it is costly.
We visited for Valentine’s Day and had a meal in the evening which we pre-booked through the hotel website. The check in was friendly with advice on evacuation points, out of hours code etc. The room was warm and welcoming with a super soft bed, which I worried would irritate my back, but slept like a log! The facilities, staff, location and food were all lovely and we look forward to returning
Probably in need of a refurb but room was clean and comfortable, restaurant was quite nice with a reasonable menu and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Would stay again
The comfiest hotel bed I’ve slept in! Beautiful hotel and restaurant with excellent food and fantastic, friendly service. Highly recommend
Customer service is great. Smiling staff members like Alexandra make this place wonderful!
Loved the roll top bath in the room. Bar snacks were lovely and a good price.
Lovely stay and would definitely return. Only reason for 4 stars is that the shower could have done with a new or really descaled showerhead to get best pressure and the mattress could have done with changing. I would encourage houskeeping to lie on mattresses to check for scalloping every now and again :-) ! Great pub hotel though with a fantastic team. Really enjoyed and would definitely return!
I stayed here with a group of friends for 3 weekday nights. The bedrooms were all of a decent size and, like the whole establishment, decorated in a rustic style with mostly recycled items. Whilst my room came with most of the usual extras (tea making, bathroom toiletries etc), it had just plain floor boards with no carpet, there was no bedside table, no chair other than a stool, only one electrical socket by the bed and no clothes hangers in the wardrobe. There were extra sockets by the desk. The king sized bed was extremely comfortable. There was no separate door to the bathroom although the toilet was separated by a frosted glass screen and door. The shower in bath provided ample hot water, but there was no handrail or anti-slip mat provided. The bar and restaurant areas were very nice although some seats were over crowded with big fat cushions. Other than Friday night, the place was very quiet. Whilst the food in the restaurant was very good and value for money, the prices at the bar were extremely high (draft beer £6+ per pint). As far as I could see, the only public toilets were upstairs. There was an extensive seating area outside, some was covered. The smallish car park had a fairly tight entrance, but included 3 electrical charging points. There was street parking, free overnight but expensive during the day. The staff were polite and friendly. Whilst it’s a generally nice and interesting hotel, there are too many negatives for me to stay here again.
Absolutely fabulous, i was given a coach house room which I initially disappointed but wow, a lovely room, warm, roll top bath, food was amazing and fantastic ingredients, lovely bed and pillows, an all around great experience
The only great thing about the hotel was the staff with particular thanks to the receptionist called Eghleah who went out of her way to provide with an acceptable room. The rooms are nothing like the photos on Expedia, far from it. The noise from the bar and dining room prevents any chance of sleep until way after the bar closes. The tiling in the shower had a big hole surrounding the mixer taps, never seen anything quite like it. Not ideal for a restful or relaxing stay!!
We stayed there earlier this year, and decided to go back this weekend for our anniversary... Room cold, sorted out eventually with a portable heater. My breakfast was awful, cold, even when reheated. I'm coeliac, so limited but our last stay it washed lovely, this stay inedible
Had a lovely room for my stay. Breakfast was very good. Bar food a little on the expensive side.
Good location in Bedford town and a good breakfast, with options. For me I did not really like the open bath in the room, there was no air con, but the room has a good temperature and great view, the staff were helpful, especially the night security guard. No complaints really recommended.
Great overnight stay. Comfy bed. Clean. Friendly staff. Great breakfast
Beautiful hotel, very unique, luxury for sure! Staff were attentive & polite. Food was delicious. A really lovely stay. 5*****. EV chargers are not type 2.
As always we love our stays at D'Parys. The staff were really friendly, the food was gorgeous and the room was exquisite.
Bathroom set up is not the best.
Lovely pub with rooms. Our bedroom was in the old coach house and had a free standing bath which was lovely.
absolutely gorgeous and characterful hotel - only thing I would say it would have been great to have fresh fruit and more vegan options for brekkie (that's not a cooked breakfast!)
Great location for Bedford Park concerts, excellent value for money and a very good breakfast in the morning.
Apart from the toliet in a glass wardrobe absolutely great!
Wonderful location for town or bedford park. The Hotel looks amazing from the outside and the Bar area however the rooms and acees corridors need some tlc. Room 7 was a reasonable size with all the facilities you need from a hotel room, Queen sized Bed, Sink, Shower, WC, Bath, TV, hot drink facilities, wadrobe, and desk, on our arrival we noticed the use of a glass wardrobe and opaque glass for the WC wall and door, this helped ensure the natural light lit the full room the floor was original floorboards and needed some repairs, this didnt make want to anything on them. The bed was a Queen size and had an old wooden frame, however the base was actually an old divan dropped in̈ the middle of the frame, This caused there to be a large gap at the top and bottom, the bed creaked if you moved on it and the mattress was way to soft for me but i did manage to get to sleep easily. The WC was adjacent to the bed about 3ft away with a door that isnt designed to fully close. The shower was a good size and nice and clean. The bath is a large cast iorn tub positioned next to a soft seating area and with a view out the window, this was very nice and relaxing. The hotel was busy due to the event we were going to but there were plenty of tables, therefore we wer suprised to be denied food, the bar also only had 1 staff. Overall the room wasnt bad, but could have been much better. It seemed a bit dated and needs some tlc as did the communal areas, i disliked the bed, WC location.
Great place to stay in Bedford. Our room was lovely and reasonably priced. We didn’t manage to eat in the bar as we had other arrangements but the breakfast that was included in the price was fantastic. The portion was so large that neither of us could finish it all! Staff were friendly too. We will stay there on our next visit to Bedford
Check in was good and staff were great room was great could have asked for better, evening meal and service was good. Breakfast was excellent food but staff service let in down shame as it let the overal experience down
Lovely quirky pub hotel. Room was nice, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was amazing.
We had a lovely time at the hotel. The staff were really lovely and friendly both on Friday night and Saturday morning. Food (dinner and breakfast) were delicious and reasonably priced. Our rooms were gorgeous and really comfy and quiet. Thank you all for looking after us
Overnight stay to attend a concert. Perfect pricing, lovely room and breakfast included. We did have to park on the street as on arrival there were a couple of events taking place. Experiences I think would vary depending on what else is going on and how that affects your visit. It suited us as we just needed to sleep and eat breakfast.
Quant. Lovely decor. Very friendly atmosphere. Breakfast excellent.
Ok room furniture old and grubby and floor
Lovely hotel with great staff, only slight issue is the floors are incredibly thin so was woken by the sound of staff talking in the dining room beneath my room but otherwise great hotel, location and incredibly comfy bed!
Lovely characterful property within a few steps from the market town of Bedford which offers some amazing restaurants such as: Higgins Pantry, Indiya, pizzeria's, Chinese etc.... Also Bedford has a jewel in its crown the River Ouse with the Embankment that runs by it. The De-Parys is very close to Bedford Park which is also worth a visit.
We enjoyed our stay, staff were very helpful and friendly, our evening meal in the restaurant was excellent. We would go back there. Room was very quirky but nice.
Great hotel! Quirky room
A very nice stay, a beautiful building with well decorated rooms (quirky but cool). High quality at a reasonable price. The staff was very helpful, and the food good, if a little bit slow on a Saturday night. We really enjoyed our stay and will stay again if we’re in the area.
Overall a lovely 1 night stay. Sadly no hot water in the morning, so a cold shower.
Lovely man welcomed us on arrival and was very helpful. big bedroom with a sofa so didn't have to sit on the bed. Liked the quirky décor. Bed very comfortable. Delicious breakfast. I booked the hotel last minute and only stayed one night so wasn't really an issue however I have arthritis in my wrists and knees which means I couldn't get in/out of the free sanding bath so therefore couldn't take a bath or a shower.
Pleasant rooms with separate bath and toilet cubicle (plus sink). Clean and comfortable for a short break. The mattress was a bit soft for our taste. Breakfast is excellent - the landlady (I presume) came round on the first morning to check that things were spot on for us.
I like the "shabby chic" decor, but one or two areas needed some attention. The staff were very friendly and efficient.
Lovely stay
The room was very large, of a quirky “distressed” design , comfortable four poster and two baths, plenty of hot water and warm. Some simple maintenance would be good- dead lightbulbs, broken window glass and slightly blocked sink for example. Breakfasts were very good as was breakfast service. Sunday evening meal was mediocre.
Lovely clean hotel which offers great value for money. Just booked our second stay....
Our home away from home in Bedford fully up to expectations again. We love the people and the place here; it’s all wonderful. We had a great dinner and breakfast is worth every penny.
Lovely room and staff! Parking was a bit difficult but the room and breakfast made up for this. Room was clean and had everything you could need. Breakfast was lovely and lots of different choices.
Lovely reception for our fifteenth stay. This has really become our home as we have got to know the staff so well. Lowly rooms with comfortable bed and great shower and bath. Excellent food, both in the evening and at breakfast.
Fabulous staff
A lovely hotel, very clean room and such friendly staff. The food is also amazing and we intend to go back soon.
we arrived to check in and we were handed a key and a fob and we were advised if we are to get back late we should use the fob to get into the hotel via the side door. We got to our room and we were surprised to find the toilet was in the corner of the room with frosted glass for privacy. The shower over the bath was in the side of the room with nothing not even a shower curtain for privacy, and the sink was an arms reach from the side of the bed. We got ready and went out for the evening and arrived back at the hotel around midnight. We got to the side door to find the fob was not working! After multiple attempts of trying different codes on the keypad trying to use the fob we couldn’t get in. We tried banging on the door to see if anybody would come to the door to let us in. Nobody came. We then tried calling the hotel only to find nobody was working in the hotel at this point and nobody was answering the phone. With the car keys in the room and no other means of getting in, after an hour outside, We ended up having to push the door as far as we could to just about get one of our hands through to reach the green button inside the hotel to release the magnetic strip at the top of the door so we could get in. However as we had all of our weight on the door so we could sneak a hand in, we ended up falling to the ground. The next morning on check out we told the staff what happened and all they said was “as long as nothing is broken that’s all that matters” Appalling service
Unfortunately the bedroom surfaces were covered with dust. Apart from this everything else was excellent
Lovely comfortable stay. Very friendly staff
Love this place, always try and stay here when working in Bedford
Great atmosphere & friendly staff , great bar & restaurant. Room was clean & well equipped but a little refurbishment would help & more power sockets/ usb.
Stayed for 1 night in the second level down room. Really good stay and it was quiet. Great service and clean room. Really good breakfast and parking is plentiful
Noisy hotel, especially at night. Were not told that the hotel was also a pub. Bed was not comfortable. Ensuite arrangements in room were very strange - toilet almost part of the room. Staff were all helpful and courteous.
Having booked a room specifying it was including our 5 year old, I’m not sure why they put us in a room directly above their private dining area, which was hosting a 30th birthday party on the night we stayed. Poor soundproofing meant we had a terrible nights sleep. Not a great place to stay with a family, but would be great for couples etc having a night out.
The best breakfast I have had the hotel is very cleaner, bed super comfortable, staff are very friendly.
Superb hotel….lovely staff
An old Victorian house converted by using glass partitions in the room to create en suite and wardrobe. Bed very comfortable and warm. Food was a letdown. Service was slow and dinner quality was below par (dry fish pie and chewy duck). Serving staff universally pleasant. Could do with some refurbishment.
Once shabby chic now verging on shabby shabby with broken fixtures and fittings. Bed comfy and clean but room and environs is showing signs of needing a makeover/spruce up as it remains as it was when it reopened in 2014.
Friendly staff, nice room - spacious and comfortable bed, excellent breakfast, good location, competitive price. Things to consider would be limited and unsupervised parking and higher than usual noise levels due to thin walls and wooden floors everywhere.
Booked 'very lovely room' which is advertised on hotels.com as having a king-size bed, disappointed to find out it was only a double. The room was clean and tidy and nicely styled, though we didn't like the glass doors on the toilet with a large hole to use for opening the door where the handle would normally be but that's personal preference. The main issue we had was being woken up at 6.30am by staff dragging and banging furniture in the restaurant room directly below our room, which continued for over 30mins so we were unable to get back to sleep. Very disappointing and frustrating, especially after a late night the previous night and expecting to be able to sleep-in the following morning. We mentioned this to a staff member on checking out and he told us that he had ‘already dealt with it having spoken to the staff moving furniture and made them stop as soon as he arrived’ which was also at 6.30am - why the delay?! – regardless, the noise went on far too long and our feedback was essentially dismissed by the staff member, neither of which we felt was acceptable.
Really enjoyed my stay at D'Parys. Staff were lovely and helpful, chefs made us a dinner late just as kitchen was closing. Food was lovely. The rooms were super cute all contained in one room. Great location too.
This is a really really nice place to stay. Excellent all round
Amazing room with most things you could need. The design was brilliant. However it was starting to look a little tired, the desk lamp didn't work and there was no easy place to apply makeup.
What an amazing hotel. It was a simply beautiful room. The staff in the restaurant below were wonderful, especially the manager who was very friendly and easy to talk to. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. You wont go wrong with a stay here.
Lovely welcome to the hotel and very pleased with rooms (and breakfast). Just take ear plugs as your hear everything from the bar downstairs and the bedrooms next to you.
My home away from home came through as always. Great staff, clean room, comfy bed and amazing breakfast
Extraordinary quirky hotel with oodles of character and wonderful staff. Food was also very good and room all very independent and interesting. Oldy worldy and perfectly positioned for town and park.
Had a lovely one night stay. Room was bigger than expected and had a lovely roll top bath. Staff were wonderful, very accommodating and friendly and were so kind to have offered early check in when we arrived early for a wedding. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Parking was free and just behind the hotel and the high street was easy walking distance. Would recommend!
Lovely visit to our regular home away from home in Bedford. Bed super comfortable as always. Staff very friendly. Breakfast is amazing as usual and they now have EV charging points.
The hotel was very nice. The room was small but had everything needed. The service was excellent and Magdelena was not only serving in the evening but was then serving breakfast. The evening meal was ok (burger over done) but breakfast was very good. I would definitely stay again.
The hotel is lovely upstairs unit we were able to open window for fresh air service was good staff friendly. Only negative no elevator have to climb stairs, other thing walls really really thin could hear everything in next room.
Very disappointing. Room 4 was next to public toilets so disturbed until after 11. Burger for evening meal was overcooked and expensive. At breakfast the kipper hadn't even been cooked i.e still raw and cold. Did replace but shouldn't have even happened. Not impressed at all.
Stay was amazing. Staff was very professional and polite. Only issue was that there was no extractor fans for the toilet, as it was part of the bedroom.
