Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Very helpful and pleasant staff. The environment of the hotel is like home from home. I will definitely stay again. Hopefully, they will be able to provide a nice full English breakfast :-)
The Verve staff cannot do enough for you. Thank you to Baz, Naz, Rebecca, the lady who tidied our room and the handyman who helped us downstairs with our heavy cases. The bar and restaurant on site offer a great range of food and drinks in a pleasant dining area. There is a garden and outdoor area for sunny days. Twin beds are soft, comfortable but narrow (to fit in the space), a handy fridge is provided and a fan for warmer weather. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits in our room. The en suite shower room was small but adequate and the water temperature and flow was fine. Good location for town and Bedford Station.
Stairs become narrow at the top of the hotel with no lift, but that's the nature of a building with history.
Excellent room good facilities
Room sink was slow to empty and hot water took a long time to come through
Near to where I needed to be on the Friday night.
Nothing
Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely restaurant facilities and good food.
Having to wait for another guest to be woken up to let us out of the car park as there is limited parking.
Nothing. Absolute Scam!
Absolute scam! Do not stay here. The Bad: ❌ The room in the pictures does not look at all as the room alocated. ❌ Unbearable noise.. ❌ Dodgy privacy policies. ❌ Lied about the refund. Review: I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but this hotel is a complete joke. The first thing you notice upon arrival is that the room looks absolutely nothing like the pictures online, and feels like a completely different place. Getting any sleep is difficult. There noise from the restaurant and kitchen bleeding through the walls, combined with the racket of customers in the corridors.. Zero soundproofing. To make matters worse, the front desk demands your driver's license to make a photocopy, which feels like a highly suspicious privacy policy and makes you feel unsafe from the very beginning. To top off this nightmare, I decided to leave early. The staff promised they would refund our second night if we requested the cancellation through Booking. I followed all the steps, but they never honored their word and kept our money. Awful management, liars, and horrible service. I would never go back even if they paid me. Stay away!
Lovely hotel very clean and tidy. Staff very friendly
Had shower and toilet in my room
Had a strange smell like stagnant water, evening guy was rude and told me I couldn’t park where I had yet a taxi was blocking me moving. Wasn’t shown around. Bed didn’t feel like a double. Lights coming in from outside.carpets frayed on stairs. Plug in smells in the room to try and hide the smell. Left on the Sunday instead of the Monday due to being very disappointed in the whole stay.
The location The staff The food
Bathroom extremely small
The food was nice The staff were very friendly and. You got a gift bag The location was good
The noise from neighbouring rooms The shower wouldnt stay up Needs a curtain over door to courtyars as let light in
greeting, cleanliness, and reasonably quiet
The window was shut but seemed like you heard the cars on the road driving by
Absolute scam—do not trust their cancellation promises "Avoid the Verve Hotel. The room I was given was much smaller than pictured online. When I asked to cancel, the front desk told me I would get a refund for my second night if I checked out early and requested the cancellation through Booking.com. I trusted them, left the hotel, and sent the requested messages through the app. The hotel has since ignored every single message, and my refund never came. On top of this, their check-in process involves an uncomfortable policy of photocopying your ID. Misleading pictures and terrible customer service." In addition the room was pretty noisy, noise from the kitchen, restaurant and customers in the corridor.

Easy to get to and great parking where I felt the van was safe. Near food outlets and supermarkets. A short walk away. Plenty of tea, coffee, water and biscuits in the room. Wi-fi is also good.
Not much really. No air con, but the fan they provided is perfect. It’s perfect for a tradesman working away, who wants good value for their money.
The hotel was excellent. The staff went way and above to make our stay very enjoyable. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the service was the best we have experienced. We ate in the restaurant both nights and couldn’t complain about anything. Food was fantastic. We will definitely recommend this hotel and definitely return
Perfectly pleasant staff. Very cramped room.
WWe booked a single and a double. The single party arrived first and was given the far more spacious room (beds were the same size). It wasnt worth changing but it was kind of dumb.
Great stay
Turned up at the hotel only to find I'd booked the wrong date and I was a week too early 😔 my mistake. The staff were very accommodating and assured me the problem could be resolved. Within 5 minutes I was eating food in the restaurant (basic food but welcome after a long day) Once my room was sorted I was pleasantly surprised with the room for the rate. Spacious bedroom, comfortable bed nice clean bathroom. TV, coffee, toiletries, and fresh bedding. Perfect for a one night stay .
Got an upgrade from single to double room. Hotel is clean and well positioned
Cleaner turned off fans whilst I was out so when i got back room was like an oven
Stayed at other 4 star hotel, must say it is different.
Bathroom bit small, nothing else to fault on. Like the gift pack in the room with a lovely pen, cup, and some basic essentials etc. a nice touch.
Great location.Friendly staff. Nice and clean. Close to Esquires music venue. Good value.
Outside parking on premises. Safe location. Quiet. Rooms are small. Access to garden is quite narrow. Very well maintained
Bathroom very small. Rooms small but ok for our stay.
You stayed open to accommodate my late arrival
Nothing
The environment
None
Attention to detail. The treat bags, water, fan were great!
No ac but only because it was extreme hot weather
Nice hotel eclectic decor nice bar area good parking well situated for town
Check in no need for photo ID this needs to change very stressful at check in did not think we were going to be allowed to stay at one point ridiculous just need the credit card you paid with surely
Nice shower when i was finally admitted to my room.
Ridiculous request for Id! Room was alredy paid for. Unhelpful staff totally unsympathetic to an obviously exhausted 87 yr old in desperste need of a shower and a rest. Never again.
Man on reception snapped at me when he couldn't find my reservation then basically told me to shut up. Asked him to look again and he rolled his eyes I did have a reservation Room was small but nice
friendly and helpfull staff
The staff were welcoming and helpfu,l and the room was clean.
The lack of a lift made getting my bag up to the second floor difficult (one of the staff kindly helped me carry it). The fact that there was no air conditioning meant that the attic room i was assigned was very, very hot, despite a couple of fans.
Nice room and stuff and a good shower, all very very clean, nice building, well preserved. Close to the train station.
The decoration is a bit corny, too much purple and black, but that's a matter of taste.
Breakfast was a big disappointment. No cooked breakfast just an insubstantial ‘continental’ breakfast.
The Vegas Bordello theme is an acquired taste. The limited parking was also a hassle - not knowing each time you left whether you’d have anywhere to park when you got back.
My second stay here and it was better than I remembered
Small room but quirky
Nothing
Girls and hotel were nice Older man was incredibly rude and unfriendly to my wife on arrival then ignored her when she said hello when we were going out for dinner. Because of him, Premier Inn next time Sorry
The hotel is well located. It is very clean and the room and bed very comfortable
Location Friendly staff
Mattress in serious need of replacing
Not a lot really.. I guess the fact i could park my car outside was a bonus
The overwhelming smell of air fresheners in every nook and cranny was really off putting.. along with the black snake look wallpaper and the purple and silver decor.. the neon signs were like it was stuck in a 90’s club.. there was no way to put the heating on in the room and the bed was very small for a double. It suited our needs for one night but I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless everywhere else was full.
I loved everything about it – it was clean and comfortable, and the location was great too, incredibly close to the train station
often stay here, its lovely
nothing, its all good
There was a reasonable amount of on site parking available, though we did arrive at the start of check-in (2 pm). Check in was efficient and the receptionist polite; we also received a gift bag, which was a nice touch. The room was a good size, neat and tidy and well furnished (wardrobe, small desk, with kettle and complimentary hot drinks and a minifridge). The bed was comfortable, and there were enough bedding and linen. The bathroom was a decent size, and clean. There was plentiful of water too. Overall a very pleasant comfortable room, ideal for our purposes (overnight stay), and perfectly located for our needs
There was limited space between the toilet and bath/shower, also the taps worked in the opposite direction. Our room was front facing, which meant there was some traffic noise.
The staff are outstanding and very attentive
There were No issues
Very friendly welcome. Clean, comfortable bed, bathroom good, tea and coffee, biscuits. Bottles of water and a fridge in room. Bar and restaurant very pleasant and good value. Staff excellent. Near to town.
Nothing not to like.
friendly staff, good size rooms and comfortable. Very good food and well priced. mini fridge in the room. free wifi.
Parking is a bit limited but with a larger vehicle, its a bit more of a challenge and ultimately you need to reverse into main road.. and TV had minimal choice of channels as standard but more importantly they wouldn't stay stored or indeed be found.
Location and parking
Tiny room, very limited breakfast options (time and offering).
Staff so accommodating without being intrusive. Friendly. Place was exceptionally clean everywhere.
Nothing
Property was very clean and comfortable
No cooked breakfast
Clean, near the town centre. Friendly staff
The air conditioning machine in my room (2) kept making loud banging noises making it impossible to leave it on through the night on the hottest 2 nights of the year so far
Basic but nice, comfortable room. Easy access to the venue and seamless checkout. And great value for money.
Safe and secure hotel Very clean
Not much - TV didn’t work Not particularly sound proof between room as could hear the next room shower at 6am
The breakfast was nice continental style
Maybe more of a cooked breakfast selection and more coffee or tea etc
Location was great, staff were really friendly and helpful. Loved the fact we could have a triple room as we always struggle to find one.
Half of the bed springs were broken on the double so it dipped and was a struggle to roll over. There was also a constant sound of running water in the wall - didn't sound right and actually kept me awake a little.
Nice staff, clean and comfortable room, good location, nice decoration in the communal areas, lovely looking bar and restaurant (although we didn't eat ir drink there as it was a very short stay)
There was nothing I didn't like. The rooms are a bit dated but for this price it's not really a problem
The Verve Hotel is so welcoming, I have been training for work purposes over the last year and have stayed in different hotels within Bedford, until I stayed at The verve, I now book with the verve every time. Very comfortable, lovely people and just a great place to stay.
Nothing, I honestly cannot think of anything I didn’t like about staying at the Verve hotel. Maybe 1 thing, and that is to have smart TV so I can log into my Netflix but that is minor.
Location was great, easy check-in, nice bathroom, cool with the windows open, spacious, clean, friendly staff, love the garden
WiFi was spotty at times
Easy for everything you need
All good
After a 5 hour drive to get to Bedford, I arrived at the verve hotel, to be asked for photo ID,which was fine,I was paying in cash so I handed over the money for my room which I had already booked, then to be asked for a £50 deposit 🤷♀️,when I asked why, apparently its company policy 🤷♀️,I was told I would get it back when I checked out this morning, which i did get it back, but i don't understand why,I was only booked for 1 night,on checking in I asked if I could order a sandwich, I was told no sorry we don't do food on a Sunday, if this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, then I think it's very poor that you can't get a bar snack, I was told to go to sainsbury's, or there is a shop down the road, breakfast was continental, again very poor.
A very pleasant hotel, with equally pleasant staff!
The seat in the room appeared broken, as I could lean back on it to almost the horizontal. It nearly caught me out the first time I leant back in it! Spoke to a member of staff in the morning and they thought it was just a fashionable chair, but would take a look at it anyway.
It was beautifully decorated and quite funky. Bed a little small for us as I like king-size (husband snores) shower was good and powerful. Just right for one night. Great hotel at a bargain price.
Just the bed is a bit on the small side for us. I like king-size.
It was perfect for my needs. When I booked 10, I was told I was upgraded to a double room.
I could hear next door’s TV on both sides. Also, where my room was located was near their office. So I could hear conversations going on it didn’t go on too late, but I could hear them.
Clean and tidy. Friendly staff
Room was hot
Location, comfort, excellent clean room
Nothing
Great location and very friendly staff
I did not have breakfast Room and bed was warm enough and ok.
I am very unhappy with the attitude go the staff of Verve..... they staff both the one that received me and the one at check out were not helpful. Booking.com made a double charge on my account for 1 stay and I complained at arrival. Till date my refund has not been processed.... Infact Verve keep"s sending me booking.com Confirmation number: 5184006163 You have a new message from Verve Hotel Verve Hotel said: Thank you for your e-mail. This is an auto reply. Exceptional place
Staff are friendly. Food at the restaurant was good,
Bold colour scheme of the hotel
No breakfast
Only stayed overnight for a gig at the Esquires venue - comfortable bed and room.
Priset
Allt
Quiet had parking
I had to leave early to catch my train at ;5am there was no hot water so had to have a cold shower which was not great. There was no one in reception to raise this with. I hoped that there would be hot water at all times in a hotel especially early morning for business travellers 5am is not early!! Stated luxury but bath towels not sheets and were very poor quality and threadbare
Poor will never go again
Overall Bad and Poor dont waste your money
Good car park
Bed was shocking and got no sleep even moved rooms and mattress quality shocking
Everything!
Nothing!
Nice and clean
The hotel was so quirky and colourful, it was warm and inviting. I was upgraded from a single to a double room for free. The room was so comfortable. The dining area was gorgeous and the outside was lovely laid out
Friendly staff
Location was a bit out of town, but that was our fault for not noticing when booking. Breakfast finished at 9 which felt early at the weekend.
Nice and clean, will stay again when i work up there.
It was spotless and lovely people st the reception
Very clean and quirky good location
