Beautiful historal building.
The historic charm and the walking distance to the river front made this hotel perfect for us. The pub next door was a welcome dinner option with great choices and good food. Given that we had been on the road all day, it was so nice not to have to drive anywhere for dinner. Lots of diner choices within walking distance. We really appreciated on-site parking.
The hotel is a bit of a fortress. The front door is locked at all times. The parking in the back is gated. Give the circumstances of the area, it makes sense.

Location
Parking- you been to come early But parking is free - gated
The building is beautiful and the ambience and rooms have an old charm/vibe. Our check in host was super friendly and helpful.
Parking was first come/serve, very small, and difficult to navigate. You can park on the street for free after 6 but there were a few sketchy folks lurking about. Was pretty loud at night but was a holiday weekend.
Great breakfast at Winston’s.
Le côté "vintage" L'emplacement Le parking
Les petits déjeuners (viennoiseries, muffin "mous"
Excellent central location. Very nice interior. Clean comfortable rooms. Quiet.
Breakfast was very basic - muffins, yogurt, coffee.
Close to the Professional Centre in the Midtown Mall. The staff was accommodating and the pub “Winston’s” had great service and food.
We had a small problem with the plumbing in the bathtub, and resolved it on our own eventually.
Location, downtown
Short of parking.
Outdoor patio was a bonus. As was the pub! Great decor throughout the building. Loved the location, great for people watching. Would definitely come stay again.
Little noisy late at night outside the pub. The security system was acting up.
Unique historical building, helpful and friendly staff, comfortable bed
Room was a little small
Loved the patio on the roof of the 1st floor!
The pillows were too lumpy and large for my liking. I having the larger pillow and a smaller softer pillow for sleeping.
The assistance of the staff
The parking situation
The hotel had lots of nice woodwork and character. Appreciated the secure parking that was available. Large room with a nicely remodelled bathroom.
Staff support was excellent, courteous and good humoured folk. I loved the character of the building. My tall husband found the bathroom facilities a bit cramped, but understandable given the age of the building.
Room and bathroom wasn't spacious but we didn't expect that it would be.
Excellent hotel! Comfortable room and hotel space. Great value for the money and nice location. Very helpful staff
No problems
Total overall experience
Location was excellent and staff were great Room with 2 queens was surprisingly spacious
Room was above the hotel bar with outside speakers. No good trying to sleep before midnight Shower was AWFUL, not acceptable in this day and age Wifi was poor and intermittent Breakfast was terrible. Only a few sweet things so no good for any dietary issues. There was an excellent Cafe next door, Living Sky that did great breakfasts
Friendly staff, comfy fresh linen, spacious rooms, old fashioned paintings and decor, Winston English pub next door, shopping close by
Carpark could be improved and updated
Grand old hotel (ca. 1909). Old school elegance. The pub 'Winstons' is excellent, good beer, the hotel gas a brewery in the basement, great staff, and a great menu. The room was clean. The bed comfortable. The location is right downtown.
Nothing.
Breakfast was adequate. Front desk was very helpful. It was nice to be downtown
I have mobility issues and use a walker. There is no ramp so I had to lift my walker up the stairs. The muffins at breakfast were too moist. Very soggy. I did not like the toilet paper. It's too flimsy.
Beds and bedding were great for a good nights sleep.
Not someone at the counter. Left without getting an invoice so I left a note!
The breakfast. The pastries were old and there wasn't much variety.
Parking out front was handy.
The place is really run down and it is really showing. The musty smell in the hallway and the rooms is hard to handle and makes me suspicious of mold.
Excellant location. Freindly staff.old hotel with lots of charm
Un peu bruyant car situé en plein centre-ville et attenant à un bar
Value for money, location, free secure parking. I love The Senator so much.
The view out my window was just ok. Room 121.
Super location. We went to a show at TCU Place & we could walk. Fantastic … no parking questions.
The elevator quit working during our stay. We were on the third floor so it was not convenient while moving in/out.
Beautiful common areas, lovely historic hotel close to everything. All in all a perfectly fine place to stay. Rooms are small but that is almost always the case in older hotels. Didn’t bother me.
Parking, while free and appreciated, was a bit of a situation. Happy to have free parking however. Also, attention to detail in the maintenance of the rooms was lacking. Bathroom was very tired, worn tub with grungy caulking etc.
Location
Parking behind hotel is inadequate and small. We had to park on the street and pay for parking.
I like the location and the spacious room..
Although it seemed clean , it had an old smell to it. Did not like the tv situation - it was a Roku system and complicated for us ! Could not find anything live such as a soccer or mlb game, could not even get a news channel - it was quite frustrating. Also the elevator was not working. The worst part of our stay was the parking. The area they have fir parking is very small and two rows park back to back so if you want to utilize it, you must leave your keys at the front desk so they can move your car - if it’s blocking someone else- which we did, however at 7:30 am we got a call from the front desk to come down and move the car - because they did not have enough staff available to move it. Overall, staff were pleasant , bed was comfortable, it was a neat old building and was nice to have a restaurant attached, location was good - but won’t stay there again, will pay a little more for something newer, even if it means paying for parking.
Bien situé dans le centre-ville.
Il y a beaucoup d'iitineransbo autour et on ne sait pas de quoi s'attendre avec eux mais toutes les portes sont verrouillées en tout temps
Very nice place, clean and comfortable.
A bit noisy with bar next door.

The location is historic and convenient by walking to other landmarks from the same era. I love the old architecture and marvel at the use of fine woods used, and the craftsmanship… using non- electric tools!
Parking is a little concerning because it’s rather limited, also the need to allow staff to shuffle our vehicle around is unusual. Having said that, we often/ generally are parked in the open at other motels/ hotels. The difference is the Hotel Senator is downtown. The other thing was the pub was much to loud that evening ( an entertainer), causing us to go around the corner to the pub on 2nd Ave… where thankfully had a much more reasonable sound level.
Great location for meetings I attended
All good
A lot creepy people around the hotel
The hotel is in a VERY good location. That is the main positive characteristic of the place. It has an oldish style which makes the place interesting and cozy. It also has a good restaurant attached to it which makes lunch and dinner convenient for guests.
The parking is not well managed. It is limited (not available for all guests) and is based on a first come/first served basis. The opening and closing of the gate depends on the receptionist at the counter to look at screen on the counter to see you're there. It takes some time for you to get in and out because of that. You have to call them to let them know you want to get in or out. It would be a lot more convenient if guests had a key (similar to a room key) to access it and not depend on the receptionist to see you and open the gate.
The Hotel is near some good restaurants and the river walk
The hotel is getting quite rundown. The parking is very limited, first come first serve and you can also get blocked in. The hotel has a lot of security so one wonders how much crime is in the area. The mattresses need to replaced. The beds are worn out, saggy and uncomfortable, much much too old.
Breakfast was continental breakfast. Enough to get the day started. However it was very sweet. Thanks for the oranges and apples to offset the sweetness.
Hotel Senator is a beautiful hotel but it could need updating….. Good location
Grand old building with lots of character in the public areas. Winston's is a great pub in the building with very good food. Gated parking in rear of hotel. Hotel was clean. Reception staff on check in was very friendly and accommodating.
Room hasn't been updated for some years, but it is functional.
位置靠近市中心去哪里都比较方便,但是房间偏小周围停车不方便
Location, clean, good vibe
Limited parking
Close to downtown
All good
The room was unusable. Air freshener used by the cleaning staff made the air toxic. After 15 minutes in the room my lungs started weazing. We opened the window to try to clear the air. That didn’t help at all and when I started coughing, it was obvious that I would not survive an entire night in that room. Went to the front desk and was told there was no other room available. Was told that we had prepaid and would not be refunded. Absolute nonsense. We didn’t cancel our stay, no room with a safe environment was available. Checked availability at other hotels, very busy weekend and what was available, we could not afford. We already lost 150$. Very disappointing, as we ended up driving home and missing our grandson’s hockey tournament. Last time I ever use Booking.com to book anything. As for the Senator Hotel rating ( minus 5 stars).
Only good was the location.
Parking was a pain in the ass,got double charged by the booking.com apps, small room, bathroom are like those in apartment.small sink,no counter, small space.
The room was clean and comfortable, but small. But that's ok. The hotel is next to the bar, and the food was good. The beer was cold. Great!
One light was not working and the front disk did not have a replacement.
Central and a secure property. Room was cozy and comfortable.
Carpets in room could be replaced but also gives cozy authentic feeling .
location
The heating is very noisy and the interior needs updating; everything is very old, especially in the bathroom.
Continental breakfast was very good
I didn’t have the breakfast as it was all carbs. So I didn’t get the value there what I did like was how could walk around neighborhood there was lots to do within walking distance
Great location, comfortable beds, cleanliness of room, size of room
There is a pub attached to the venue. Extremely loud music was played on Thursday night until 11:30pm and Friday and Saturday night until 2am, not only inside the pub but also over outdoor speakers which made it close to impossible to sleep until the pub closed.
Old world charm
Grumpy staff member. Not very helpful. Needed to withdraw cash to use as a deposit. Never had that before. Breakfast was abysmal. Mini pastries. Fruit and juice was good but the coffee offering also poor
Satsfactory
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Perfect location
Downtown location is great for walking to see city centre. Nice architecture to take in as well.
Parking!!! Was none and the free breakfast was lacking.
Location was good with live entertainment which was good.
Room was directly above live entertainment which was not quiet....
Phenomenal location and cost. Very clean and comfortable.
Front desk was quite neglectful with answering the phone. Attempted to call down 2-3 times from the room to request a microwave. The phone was not answered. It was also seldomly answered while trying to enter or exit back parking lot causing us to sit at the gate for 2-8 minutes while attempting to contact the front desk.
The architecture of the building on the main floor was impressive. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom was clean. It was great that they had a fridge. The sheets and towels were clean and crisp. Great location to restaurants and pubs and the Sheraton conference centre. For a 3 business trip, it was fine and the price was good.
The room was small. There was an unpleasant aroma in the hallways. A cleaning solvent, maybe. The rooms need a major update with chipped furniture. The bathrooms definitely need updating, but they were clean. The countertop was peeling off the side and they still have the

Great location and friendly staff
Building is a bit tired
Breakfast was ok--pastries and coffee, tea, yogurt, fruit. Simple. Cushy beds. High ceiling. Old fashioned details. So close to the mall! Parking out back. Super stay!
The location is amazing, nice restaurants all around, staff are also super great.
The bathrooms need some fixing. Missing grout around the shower.
Breakfast
Location Location Location.
Pictures looked good that's it
No parking. Super sketchy on street got verbally asulted trying to get into building, that you had to buzz to get in. Noone answered buzzer. Had to get in through pub next door. Staff wasn't helpful with parking made it seem like shouldn't park anywhere. Decided not to stay there did not get refund.
Location is amazing. Walking distance to Midtown Mall, great restaurants. Hotel access to an amazing.
Onsite parking was listed but it was limited and required you to move your car since vehicles needed to be stacked. Rooms that faced the front of the hotel were loud due to loud music from the hotel pub and and late night crowds that were enjoying the night life. (I would suggest a room in the wing overlooking the parking lot!)
Great location. Great staff. Building has lots of character.
Parking is limited and awkward.
Great location. Winston's restaurant was great
Old. A little less clean than expected.
Friendly staff great location
Not a lot of parking
Restored historic hotel
Noisy as there is a night club below many of the rooms (mine for sure) Included breakfast should be called “continental breakfast” - only coffee, juice, muffins & sweet yogurt
location
clean and comfortable
parking at the back is limited
Safe and a good location for the fireworks
Nothing
Good location. Clean. Good restaurant/bar
No complaints
Close to event
Cockroaches and didn’t get my deodorant returned. Garbage from previous tenants still in the room. Old broken items in the room. Gunk in the hair dryer. Beds poor and uncomfortable.
Location was close to family.
Unfortunately the elevator wasn’t working when we checked in. Staff did offer to carry suitcase up which was nice.
