I redeemed a significant number of Marriott Bonvoy points for a celebratory weekend at the W Toronto following my recent engagement and a close friend’s birthday, and unfortunately the experience fell far below expectations. The stay started with a confirmed 3:00 PM early check-in that ultimately didn’t happen until approximately 5:20 PM. Throughout the delay there was little proactive communication, and I repeatedly had to seek updates myself. The arrival experience felt disorganized and lacked the basic hospitality you would expect from a property at this level. Several front desk interactions were disappointing. I encountered dismissive responses, was initially given the wrong luggage, and simple questions about timing and service were met with an unnecessarily confrontational tone. Even basic requests made directly to management during the stay took hours to be fulfilled. The most significant issue occurred on Saturday night. A hotel event on the 6th floor generated extremely loud bass that could be felt vibrating my room on the 9th floor. Management advised me the event would end at 1:30 AM, but the noise continued until after 2:00 AM. No alternative accommodation, meaningful mitigation, or service recovery was offered despite the disruption making it impossible to sleep. While I appreciated the suite upgrade and the room itself, the overall experience was defined by repeated service failures, poor communication, and a lack of proactive hospitality. The issue wasn’t any single incident—it was the consistent pattern throughout the stay. I’ve stayed at many Marriott properties over the years and have generally had excellent experiences. Unfortunately, this stay did not reflect the standards I associate with either the W brand or Marriott.

Well located within easy walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants, along with a short metro journey to downtown. The rooms themselves were comfortable, however it is worth noting most rooms face an internal courtyard and as a result can get quite dark a lot of the time. Breakfast here was included as part of my elite status, although rather than being fully included, the hotel provides a credit of around $55 CAD per person per day, which covers breakfast for the majority of people. Breakfast was very good. Whilst we enjoyed our stay, it didn't feel particularly luxurious with impersonal service throughout, especially given the price point and category W hotels market itself to be, but we would recommend this hotel.

Nice location on Bloor street with live entertainment every evening in their lobby. Room is modern and clean. Toki listening bar at Tono by Akira back is a hidden Gem in this hotel.

We spent our Mother’s Day week-end there and it was great! The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed brunch in the living room. We also had a great expriecience at Tono restaurant by Akira Back, the food was really delicious…

Stayed as part of a birthday trip and the staff couldn’t do enough to make sure we enjoyed it.

He location was excellent for restaurants and sights.

The room was not comfortable or functional. Lots of glass and marble. Glass doors on toilet and shower were very awkward. No vanity to get ready for to put stuff.. no drawers to store clothes. Basically the designer went for looks over comfort.

The room is not comfortable and feels crammed because there is not a separate bathroom area. The sink and tiny vanity are in the room along with the shower and toilet. There is a tiny closet and then a clothes rack connected to the outside of the closet.

I loved everything about my stay. My room was lovely. The hotel was overall beautiful.

I have exactly two expectations from a hotel: 1. I can sleep 2. I can do so safely This property failed at both. Spectacularly. The fire alarm has been going off for hours. Not a drill. Not a quick false alarm. Hours of nonstop alarm with no resolution — and it’s still ongoing as I write this. The fire department has already confirmed there is no emergency, and yet the hotel remains completely unable to fix, silence, or properly manage the situation. To be clear, the problem isn’t the problem. Things break. Alarms malfunction. That happens. The problem is the gross incompetence in resolving it. At one point, they were attempting to disable parts of the fire safety system just to make the noise stop. That’s not a solution — that’s a safety risk layered on top of an operational failure. A faulty alarm system like this points to deeper maintenance issues. But the complete lack of response, coordination, or leadership turned a bad situation into an unacceptable one. The front desk associate was kind and clearly trying, but completely unequipped and abandoned. No manager. No ownership. No plan. Just a single employee left to absorb the fallout of a building-wide failure. This isn’t just a bad stay. It’s a breakdown of basic safety and operational competence. Do not book here. Ps on cleanliness, upon check in I found a stray water bottle cap on the night stand - lack of attention to basics. Nice location, but why bother if you can’t trust your sleep nor safety. Not worth it.

The walls were too thin. We woke up in the middle of the night because our neighbors were having a conversation in their room.

The bed was not comfortable. The bathroom was part of the room with frosted glass for door on toilet and shower.

The hotel was beautiful and had many amenities. The breakfast was good. My fiancé and I do not eat meat. They delivered a meal that had bacon on it but it did not say that on the menu. They remade our meals, credited off our account and fixed the menu ASAP to avoid this next time.

Since I was traveling with a friend we found not having a separation (wall) between the bathroom area and sleeping area was not as private. Sound travels.

Rooms are well laid out and comfortable. The restaurants and bars are great. The TONO, in particular was VERY GOOD. The food and mixed drinks were a highlight of our stay. The Staff was very friendly.

I shared a two queen room with my adult son, the bathroom in our shared room was interesting to navigate with no door to change, enter/exit the shower, or get ready in private. This would be helpful to know upon booking somewhere.

I took my 102 years old mother there for high tea. Not only they accommodated my request for sharing one tea set with my mom, they made a few extra pastries especially for her, ex. a smaller pastry that was easier for her bite; a different pastry than mine because it had meringue topping, ( not fully cooked egg white is not suitable for elderly for safety); so considerate, and no extra charge. We totally enjoyed the lovely presentations and the not so sweet and light pastries, the truffle egg sandwich and others. The pastry chef came out to explain what each piece was. The server was friendly of course. Not a big deal, but I was just a little disappointed that the location was relocated to the loft of the bar cafe, and not at the Living room on the 6 th floor, with the garden- feel atmosphere as shown on the website.

Hotel was beautiful and the service was top notch! My only 2 tiny complaints are that the WiFi in the room was very bad and the hotel did not have any umbrellas to lend out during a town storm. Aside from that it was an amazing stay.

Room size was excellent - although I had booked a Suite

1) Breakfast never was open on time. Two of three days people were not friendly. Only once the waitress was nice and welcoming. 2) Receptionist sold museum tickets for the wrong day. 3) When we forgot charger in the room, stuff didn’t help. They disappeared for 30 or more minutes and said they couldn’t find. When we get to the room, the charger was exactly where we said it should have been left. It was after check out, so we asked them to search, did not do it by ourselves first time. 4) nice location, stylish design, but poor management, wrong team and attitude.

Good location, was clean and in good repair. Design was fun. Bed was comfortable.

Open bathroom wasn’t very practical despite looking good and the size of the shower etc felt very constricted. Some of the basic amenities felt cheap like 1 ply toilet paper and toiletries felt very basic.

Really nice hotel but a couple things to keep in mind for the room. My wife and I had no issues but for couples who aren’t as comfortable, the bathroom is pretty much in the open and the door provides little to no privacy. Something to keep in mind. The temperature in the room was not working. It was freezing when we came in and it was set to 22. I put it up to 25 and it only got a little warmer. Bed was super comfortable and the room was clean. Got a late checkout for 1pm which was nice. Bar is nice and excellent drinks! Perfect location if you want to be somewhat close to yorkville.

Shopping and food nearby was fantastic! There was a lot of construction going on beside the hotel which was noisy and a bit challenging to get around! The room was spotless and the staff were outstanding.

The room layout is atrocious. The bathroom is part of the room. Its ridiculous and loud. The air conditioner barely worked and the "mood" lighting setting on the touchscreen is way too bright. When I checked out no one was around to hear my concerns. I won't stay here again, especially at 700 a night.

Great hotel in the heart of Yorkville — rooms were spacious (although weren't a fan of the doorless bathrooms when travelling with my mother!) and clean. Was a shame that there was only the lobby bar as the only option to eat. Would recommend staying here.

The hotel was undergoing some construction at the time and so the common areas and amenities that we were looking forward to using, and which were part of the reason for us booking this hotel we’re not available. This would’ve been relevant information to have been shared with prior to or upon booking because we would’ve changed our decision and booked somewhere else that was less expensive and with other similar available amenities. Also, the entrance into the hotel was not clear due to the construction and the desk clerks did not look up or greet you as you walked past them in the morning.

Hotel was under conduction. Lounge on the upper floor was closed. No notice of this before booking, no apology for the mess, no discount offered. Carpet in the hallway seemed to be loose on our floor. First morning breakfast we went to wasn't good. Food was great but a manager showed up and sent the waiting staff for a loop. He was scolding the servers in front of the customers, making a scene about every little thing. After the manager showed up our server never came back to the table because he was running about trying to keep the manager happy.

The room had a bad layout with toilet and shower in separate rooms connected by glass with a sink in the middle of the bedroom. Advertised with a fridge there was no fridge. Hallway outside had terrible odor. The room was so far from the elevator, it was a walk of shame, it seemed to take forever. Mattress was worn out, needed changing . Parking is $75 a night way more than any other hotel in the area. This is a 2.5 star hotel that I would not revisit.

at check in we asked if we could get rooms side by side. the person at reception a filipino gentelman was very rude and did not want to accomodate us.

Room was a bit small for the cost, but enjoyed our stay very much.

From booking a restaurant for almost 2 months, there was a lot of hiccups communication wise that left me feeling very confused. When my frustration was apparent they their best in the capacity they could but overall I don’t think I’ll be coming back anytime soon

Th W is a modern , stylish hotel. The suite was spacious with a fantastic shower. The downside is the room service breakfast was cold and super expensive. The breakfast tray was left in the hall but a half eaten roll was left on the floor. The lobby bartender was cold and impersonal. The bell hop complained about a tip in US dollars. One night we brought sandwiches back to the room but needed mayonnaise. We called for a packet of mayonnaise. The hotel wanted to charge us $10 plus gratuity. That's ridiculous. A pat of butter ordered on day one remained in the room for six days.

I stay here often, this time around was great.
