Rivendell Guest House

The location was perfect, the communication with the host was excellent. Clear instructions on how to enter the property as I arrived late. Clean room with hairdryer, toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities. Quiet room and ideal for one night.

The desk wasn't very attractive, a piece of chipboard put together with screws. A few stains on the desk stool as well. Small suggestion would be to upgrade them with something more modern. The room was small but adequate for one night.

The road outside was quite noisy overnight with shouting, would have been quieter with window shut or a room towards the rear. Didn't see the host but communications were good

My specific room details were not correct and therefore misleading and disappointing ☹️ There was no garden view. No wardrobe or closet. The only window that could open flew outwards and upwards so far up that I had to stand on the radiator to reach the handle to close, leaning out of the window. (a chair would have come in handy). Cleaning lady eager to get in half hour before departure time, knocked but entered straight away, I was getting dressed!

No option to have breakfast, area a bit dodgy: there were drunk people on the street arguing in the middle of the afternoon. Didn't feel unsafe though

All I needed! A bed and a bathroom. Pub 5 minutes walking away. Another 30 seconds to the fast food outlets. The chip shop is good too! Room service!! Bed made and room tidied, didn’t expect that.

The night light could stay in for 10 seconds longer so the key can go into the lock. Door slams a bit. I was concerned about peace for the neighbours. On arrival I walked in to the neighbours house. Had to apologise for home invasion. All entry details are in the email which I did not read properly.

There was no breakfast offered, so we cannot rate it. It was a self check-in which was good, once you figured out how to hard press the keys on the lock. A digitalised one would be better. We arrived very late due to our delayed bus and all we wanted to do was shower and go to bed. Just one functional dim light above the bed. The side lamps had their plugs pulled out & it wasn't possible to plug it in. The water in the shower was DISASTROUS, to say the least. The force was as good as non-existent with just a trickle flowing down. Now imagine a head full of shampoo that took forever to wash off! For the price we paid, this was a total rip-off. We travel a lot and did not expect a 5 star property but BASIC needs should be complied with. Since there's no staff around, there was no way to rectify it. We stayed just for one night. I did let the housekeeper know about the non-existent water force and hope it got rectified for the next guests. We stayed in Room No. 5

Very clean and quiet. We were met by someone who gave us a key and helped us carry our luggage up the stairs. The room was super clean. They had a small fan in the room to help with the heat. It was a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to some pubs and coffee shops.

Much smaller space than we expected. There were just two of us, but we had to take turns walking around as there was very little space between the bed and the desk/shelf. The bathroom door didn't open all the way as the bed was blocking it. The water pressure was very low in the shower, but it did the job to cool us off after a long travel day. The price of the room was inflated due to cruise ships leaving the next day.

You couldn't get the kettle under the tap in the bathroom because basin is so small. Needs a chair not a stool where coffee making table is. Needs a bathmat for when you come out of shower. Area where toilet is in the bathroom is very narrow. I am a size 16 and it was ok. A larger person would struggle. Could do with a small lounge area in the Guest House. Never saw the owner.

We could not access this house. Owners were unresponsive to our request for a refund since we could NEVER even get in!! To spend one of the hottest days in recorded history for 1.5 hours in front of this house and never to get in was merciless!

Price was good. Bathroom very clean. Check in was very easy. Nice little room layout.

The main bedroom had a damp/ musty smell to it. The metal curtain rail was extremely rusty, so much so the rust was even soaking into the curtain material... Not nice looking!!

The room was clean. The beds were extremely comfortable and the TV was perfect. Integrated YouTube, Netflix, Prime in the TV made my night comfortable.

The room was ridiculously small. A bigger bed and you couldn't open the door to get in the room! The mattress was like a laying on jelly. I slept on the floor. It was overpriced.

Staff i spoke to on the phone were friendly enough. Quiet neighbourhood and not far from station. Not alot in terms of amenities nearby though.

Wifi was poor. No staff on site which i always find poor. Just dump a key in a locked box and off you go. Facilities pretty rubbish, cramped toilet and shower not comfortable.

Good location as it’s not far from train station or centre. Staff are very accommodating as I was able to check in 3 hours earlier and I wasn’t charged extra. As a female staying alone I felt quite safe at this B&B. I think it’s good value for money and the room has everything you need. Handy having the finishing touch of free cotton wool as this was helpful for removing make up. Accommodation is very quick to responded to any questions sent. I like that it’s self check in via lock box rather then having to deal with a reception. Room was fairly clean as a cleaner myself I can be quite picking over quality of the cleanliness when staying in a hotel. It looked and felt clean. I like to be helpful and strip the bed before I check out and this is the first accommodation I have stayed in for a while where I haven’t been discussed of cleanliness of duvet etc. Is second time staying at this property and will likely book again.

Wasn’t really much that I didn’t like. Only downfall was because I had a late night I wanted to sleep in longer this morning however as I was in a small single room the head of my bed was right by the window so in the morning I was woken up early by the sunlight. I did have blinds and curtains shut but blinds wasn’t great for blocking light and as the curtains wasn’t very long the sun was shining right in my face.

If I had to be really picky, the only thing that wasn't the best was the water pressure from the shower so it comes out quite slow, but not really an issue at all in my overall experience. Not a complaint by any means but more just a heads up.

Location was good , The city centre was only a 15 walk away. The room was spotless and warm and the bed was very comfy, tea and coffee was provided. The bathroom was also spotless.it had a decent TV

The shower took ages to warm up. When i booked the room i was told there was Free parking but on the day i was arriving i was told that they only have 3 parking spaces available at the property and if it was full i would have to park on the road, i was not impressed with this as i prefer secure parking and if i had known about this when i was booking the room i would have looked elsewhere, as it happens i was the first one there so i was able to park .

Lovely single room. Very clean and bathroom looked as if it had recently been renovated. Good size for a single. Wished I could of stayed another two nights there but they were fully booked. Owners were very friendly.
