Liked the property as a whole, no staff seen during visit, room a little bit sad, very reasonable price

Pleasant, clean and accessible guest house. No breakfast but there are tea making facilities. Good central location.

Slightly dated and the shower temperature variable but, otherwise, very good for the price (and, most importantly, clean).

Friendly welcome from Roddy, who showed me the room and explained a few details. Later, when I returned after an evening out, an interesting conversation with him.

At £91 it was expensive for a room with, as described, no breakfast. Maybe to do with "dynamic pricing"?

The room was silent and the bathroom was clean. The room had a kettle and everything necessary to make tea/coffee. The location is convenient, close to the station and walking distance from the city centre. Owner was responsive when I have raised issues with the room.

The layout is very outdated, the carpet in the shower room seems very unhygienic to me. Instead of a mat, the shower room had a disposable one, which seemed odd. The main light in the bathroom was faulty, and only 1 towel was provided. Upon raising that to the owner, both were fixed. Also, although I have to say the shower room was clean, there were spider webs on the ceiling, and the duvet was stained. I do not understand why this place is indicated as 4 stars, when it is nowhere near that standard. I found my room overall too expensive for what I was offered. Last, despite being indicated that they offered luggage storage, it then came up that my bag would be left unattended in the communal area, to which I have decided to store it elsewhere for an extra fee.

Looked lovely outside upon arrival, smooth and straight forward check in. Brilliantly clean and big room. Had a fantastic stay overall, room smelt clean and fresh, shower was great. No problems whatsoever.

Only fault was able to have more milk available.

Das Haus hat sehr viel Charme. Die Zimmer sind gut eingerichtet, bspw. extra Spiegel im Zimmer, das ist super. Die Bäder waren zeitgemäß und sauber. Der Aufenthaltsraum im Erdgeschoss lädt zum Verweilen ein. Die Gastgeber sind sehr, sehr freundlich und ansprechbar. Die Gegend ist angenehm ruhig.

Die Zimmer sind teilweise doch recht klein für 2 Personen. Die Lage ist doch etwas außerhalb (ursprünglich hatten wir eine zentralere Unterkunft gebucht, die uns aber storniert wurde); man läuft ca. 20 Minuten ins Zentrum, aber das ist letztlich gut machbar.

Hunters Lodge was nicely located with easy Free parking in front of the building and there are more parking spaces at the back, They operate with an easy self access via a code at the door supplied via an email when you book your stay, there is mobile number supplied by the owner if you need any help and she is really nice and friendly. Our room was in the ground floor very clean nice size bright with a large window and big comfortable bed with plenty of storage spaces including a double wardrobe and few draw units. It has a tray with kettle and coffee/tea/milk plus it has a Hair Dryer and they supplied 2 bath towels you could get more towels if you ask,. the shower was nice and powerful but the shower head need changing as it's annoying and old. Outside on the ground floor there is a good size lounge and bar which was closed unfortunately closed all the weekend which is a shame?? and also at the back of the building there is a dinner again no food was served all weekend? .Over all we liked our stay

They need to make sure that someone is there in the morning to serve breakfast and help customers if they need more coffee/ tea/ milk/ or even if they need new towels as there was no one in attendance and some American tourists needed breakfast but nothing was there for them. On the ground floor there is a good size lounge and bar which was unfortunately closed all the time we stayed there which is a shame?? Also at the back of the building there is a dinner with many tables again no service during our stay which is a shame?

Puppy pad as a shower mat, sink in the bed area. Sheets had blood spots on them. The area felt very unsafe. We had booked 2 nights and could not stay the second night.

Property was well placed for the Town Centre. It was within walking distance which was ideal.

The room was comfortable,

There was 3 people in the room but only 2 cups and 4 small sachets of milk, when we requested more milk we were told they do not provide anymore, there's no lift, told we could leave our luggage in a downstairs room but we were not willing to do that . We had to struggle upstairs with our luggage. When we booked there was continental breakfast on offer for £8.50 but when we got there breakfast was no longer available.

Cleanliness and ease if check in

Easy to walk to train station and taxis. Lots of buses although we never used one. Comfortable lounge where we could leave our luggage on the day we were boarding the ship which was very convenient. Room was a good size and comfortable bed. If you have mobility issues the stairs would be a problem.

It was very hot and stuffy in the room at night so a fan would have been very welcome. Didn’t like having carpet in the bathroom, can’t be very hygienic. The bathroom door was a pocket door which was a real pain to try and close. A better handle would help close the door without so much struggle. Very funky people living on the street. Not sure I would feel safe walking after dark.

I found a parking space which I was relieved about. Cleanliness was good. I.e beds and bathroom Location was good.

It was rather a dated decor. Not keen on carpet in the shower room. I didn’t personally feel very welcomed by the host.

Host was waiting on arrival and made to feel comfortable. About 15 walk from centre of Southampton.

Only there 1 night so nothing I didn't like. Served it's purpose.

Position and car parking.

To start with the shower leaked and there was a puppy training mat instead of a proper floor mat on the carpeted bathroom floor. The room was tiny in comparison to others we have stayed in. The bathroom sink was in the bedroom not the bathroom. The bar wasn’t open and overall we didn’t enjoy our stay at all.

No breakfast included although I had understood there was on booking

The room I was allocated required me to walk through the dining room in order to get to it and it was situated right next to the kitchen and was marked private which was a little confusing at first and awkward to leave the room and go through the dining room on departing. The staff were invisible so had no interaction with anyone while there.

It was lovely and clean , the owner was very friendly on arrival and explained everything we needed to know. Great location, especially for the Mayflower Theatre which was reason for our trip.

Warm welcome, shown personally to the room. Well equipped room, very comfy bed, quiet and restful. Very safe and secure. Had to join a ship early in the docks, so couldn't stay for breakfast.

Der Check-In erfolgt komplett kontaktlos. Die entsprechenden Instruktionen erhalt man vorab von der Unterkunft. Es ist ein richtig schön „englisch - altmodisches“ Haus, mit ca. 15-20 Zimmern. Mein Einzelzimmer war einfach und schlicht eingerichtet, dafür war es preislich aber auch attraktiv. Es gab einen Schreibtisch, von dem man auch entsprechend Remote arbeiten konnte.

Das Mobiliar im Zimmer ist entsprechend etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Im Zimmer selbst gab es leider keinen Fön, sodass ich das Zimmer mit nassen Haaren verlassen musste. Ein Kühlschrank fehlte auch im Zimmer, was mir persönlich immer sehr wichtig ist.

Missed getting a proper British breakfast

Own Carpark, close to the city centre, bed comfortable & shower was warm & powerful. We was Room 11 which overlooked the Private car park at the back of the guest house which was a win for me!

Not the properties fault however I could hear what I suspect to be containers being moved or something of the sort from the port from around 9pm to 5am then the occasional ship horn 6am onwards. I note we did have the small window open so wonder if it would still be heard when closed. Despite this I would very much consider staying again!

I personally found the bed matresses a bit hard.
