This is a beautiful hotel with amazing staff who go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Safety is a priority and great attention to detail, making it a five star worthy.

At least one charging point in the room must be updated to accommodate usb and c type charging cables. The carpet could have been cleaner both on the corridors and the room.

The hotel was nice, but it felt a little out of the way. the bed in the room was uncomfortable. There were loud people outside of my room for a whole day. they were security for a VIP. I asked for the front desk to help with a travel adapter for 2 days before I got the adapter.

The room service food was very bad, we literally only had 1 bite each and couldn’t finish it. We ordered a cake, it was bad as well. The only time the food was nice was when we ordered from the Spa, and then the Cyra Restaurant Wine Pairing was also 10/10; it’s the room service food that let down the whole team

Es war ein rundum toller Aufenthalt. Leckeres Essen, sehr gutes Frühstück und der Service war super. Wir hatten eine Penthousewohnung mit Whirlpool. Einfach alles toll.

We stayed at The Houghton Hotel twice within the same week, and honestly, the second stay was even better than the first. We initially arrived late and stayed for two nights. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the General Manager, Jake, went above and beyond to make our stay special. We enjoyed the hotel so much that, when it was time to leave, we actually cancelled our reservation at another hotel and decided to come back to The Houghton instead. It was one of the best decisions we made on our trip. When we returned, everyone remembered us and made us feel genuinely welcomed back. Upon arrival, we were greeted with flowers and champagne, which was such a thoughtful and personal touch. The level of service throughout our stay was exceptional, and Jake was always checking in to make sure everything was perfect. Even when we were checking out, he personally made sure that we had enjoyed our stay and that everything had been taken care of. The rooms are fantastic, but the suites are on another level. We treated ourselves to the Presidential Suite with its own pool and hot tub, and it was absolutely spectacular. It was luxurious, spacious, beautifully designed, and the perfect place to relax. What really sets The Houghton apart, though, is the people. The entire team made us feel special, and Jake’s genuine attention to detail and commitment to making sure guests have an incredible experience was remarkable. We have stayed at some wonderful hotels around the world, but The Houghton stands out. I would genuinely go back to Johannesburg just to stay at The Houghton again.

The breakfast staff were friendly and welcoming, and we really appreciated their service.

Unfortunately, the reception experience was very different. From the moment we arrived, the welcome felt cold and almost as though the staff were doing us a favour. This was noticeably different from our previous experience. The jacuzzi was also extremely hot and impossible to use comfortably. When we raised the issue, we were told that guests are not allowed to use the jacuzzi after 10pm. We understand and respect that rule, but it did not address the actual concern, which was the excessive water temperature. As the jacuzzi formed part of the package we paid for, it was disappointing that the temperature did not seem to be properly controlled.

Le personnel est agréable et serviable. Le restaurant Nova Bistrot est bien, avec un rapport qualité prix correct.

La propreté de la piscine intérieure, en raison de l’absence de douche de ce côté. Le sauna et la hammam sont un peu éloigné de la piscine intérieure.

Booked penthouse was unavailable. We booked it for the two bedrooms. Said a guest was ill and required an extra night. Duty manager promised access the next day at 11am. We changed out plans to remain at the hotel and get access. Was not ready until the evening. On being granted access to the room, it was damp, bathroom smelt of cigarette smoke. Loud commercial air fresh machine was working hard. The penthouse had a hot tub. It was cold. Eventually sorted. But that only left 24 hours to enjoy the room that was an expensive booking. Very poor.

The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant from the porters to maintenance and the turn down staff.

Upon arrival - the penthouse was beautiful but room 302 was absolutely freezing. The AC does not heat up the suite, the electric curtains in the dining room were broken and could not be closed and the AC in the second room sounded like a tractor.

The Jacuzzi water wasn't very clean or hot and they were a bit tired. We had to wait for our room to be ready till almost 3pm which was not great after a long flight.

We werden opgehaald van het vliegveld en vanaf minuut 1 was het genieten. Na een rondleiding werden we naar onze prachtige kamer (meer een appartement) gebracht, werkelijk prachtig!!! Ruim 300 m2, 2 slaapkamers met elk een badkamers en een jacuzzi op het terras. We hebben genoten van een zeer goede massage, heerlijk gegeten in het restaurant en daar na met een bubbel de jacuzzi in. Als we weer eens een overnachting in Johannusberg nodig hebben, gaan we hier weer heen.

Great hotel for refreshing after long flight and waiting for our Golf/Safari to start. Hotel went above and beyond to sort our party of 3 couples. Awesome golf course, didn't leave the hotel, everything was catered for. Safe and secure. Would highly recommend. Hotel sorted transfers and picked us up from the airport with 6 bags of golf clubs etc... nothing a problem. Thanks to the Manager David.

The penthouse was insane, huge rooms, everything you could need. The highlight for us was the staff, even with the hot tub issue, the staff could not do enough for us. Particularly the manager who really went out of her way to make everything special for us and Bongo who I was in touch with before our arrival, he arranged a lot for us, not just at the hotel but other requests and advice during our stay. The hotel gym is one of the best I’ve seen, food was exceptional. We would highly recommend the hotel and especially the amazing staff that work there.

The only issue we had was with hot tub temperature. It was like warm when we arrived, staff fixed the issue quickly and were very apologetic. Unfortunately as the hot tub automatically turned off on a timer, it was luke warm again the next day.

Breakfast buffet generally excellent except one day when the cooked food on the buffet was cold. However as soon as my Husband pointed this out they made every effort to rectify it. Staff extremely helpful and friendly.

The restaurant lacks atmosphere for dinner. TV in our room kept cutting off. We had to call maintenance a couple of times to get it sorted. It seems to be a common problem and we were told of a different way to select channels which solved it. That could be indicated somewhere in the room. One or two, but not all, Parking Attendants out the front of the Hotel were not as helpful as the rest of the staff,

With all the excitement and busyness of our wedding, we had countless vendors, deliveries, and guests arriving, and Samuel handled everything so professionally and efficiently. His willingness to help, positive attitude, and genuine kindness made such a difference during what could have been a very stressful time. We stayed for 2 nights in one of the penthouse suites, with a pool and hot tub. The apartment was huge as there was only 2 of us. We could have lived in separate places in the apartment and never see each other. Yes it was an expensive (not excessive) experience but was it worth it. The breakfast was very good good choice and variety. The evening meals were also of a high standard.

Only gripe as we stayed in July the air con could not be turned to heating so it was either on cold or we could have asked for it to be switched off
