We had a wonderful stay at Holiday Inn Express Waikiki. The location is excellent—everything is within walking distance, making it very convenient to explore Waikiki. There’s a food truck park location 2 lights away from the hotel. The International Market Place is only a 8-10 min walk. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and we especially enjoyed the complimentary pineapple juice, which was a nice touch. A special thank you to Ms. Gladys at check in and out for being so warm, approachable, and welcoming. She made our departure smooth and left us with a great final impression. We'd also like to recognize the Head Housekeeping Supervisor, Gilbert Guzon, for doing an outstanding job. You can tell he takes pride in keeping the hotel clean and well-maintained. That said, there are a couple of areas that really need improvement. The elevators were by far the biggest frustration. During busy hours, we regularly waited 10–15 minutes just to get an elevator, which became inconvenient, especially after a long day. I also felt bad for the hotel employees, who have to share the same elevators with guests. For a 44-floor hotel, having separate service elevators or a better elevator system would make a huge difference for both guests and staff. The parking garage was another challenge. The spaces are extremely tight and difficult to navigate, especially for larger vehicles. Considering the size of the hotel, I wish the parking facilities had been designed to be more accessible and convenient for both guests and employees. Despite those issues, the friendly staff, cleanliness, and unbeatable location made our stay enjoyable.

We stayed at this hotel for one week and overall had a good experience. When we first arrived, there was a strong musty odor in the room that seemed to be coming from the window air conditioning unit. I called the front desk, and they were very responsive, sending maintenance up right away to replace the AC unit. The smell improved some, but I still noticed an odor coming from the bathroom ceiling vent/fan that appeared to have a musty/mold smell. I contacted the front desk again, and maintenance promptly replaced the bathroom ceiling vent/fan as well. After both the AC unit and bathroom vent were replaced, the odor improved significantly. The room was smaller than most hotel rooms I’ve stayed in, but since we were only there to sleep, it wasn’t an issue. The beds were comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the buffet-style breakfast was excellent. The hotel is within walking distance of the beach and is surrounded by plenty of restaurants, shops, and food trucks, making the location very convenient. The elevator could be a little slow at times, but we either took the stairs for some extra exercise or waited a few minutes. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and would definitely stay here again.

We had such a great experience at the Holiday Inn Express Waikiki! Joseph at the front desk was amazing — extremely friendly, super informative about all the highlights of Waikiki, and even had us laughing with his personal stories. He really set the tone for a fun stay. The 5th floor amenities were one of our favorite parts. You guys… they have a game room with a Wii, a giant chess board (I played chess with my Wife!), mini‑golf, shuffleboard, and even a pretty cool mini bar area. There’s honestly so much to do on the property that we barely stayed in our room. Yes, the rooms are a bit on the smaller side, but with everything available on-site and the great location, it didn’t bother us at all. We were out enjoying ourselves most of the time anyway! Overall, we definitely plan to return. Great staff, fun amenities, and an awesome Waikiki vibe — highly recommend!

Its centrally located in Waikiki with everything within walking distance. The city bus drives by all the time out front if you don’t have a car , and it takes you everywhere on the island with a little research. The breakfast starts the day off perfectly and then a walk on Waikiki beach all before 8 am.

We booked a day room to wait for time to go to the airport. The hotel is only air conditioned in the rooms (window units), so the common areas were hot and crowded. The room was tiny, the elevators were very slow, but the worst part was the fact that there was no hot water so we could shower before heading to the airport.

My problem was with the construction work that was happening. It made the site look very bad when I was looking towards the beach. Also the room felt very cramped. I felt very difficult to open my suitcase. With the two beds there it is very difficult. I think it is sufficient for one bed but for two beds we need something different.

We stayed in this hotel for 7 days for our 10th anniversary trip last week!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We got a corner room on the 42nd floor with a Diamond head and ocean view! The view was great! The room is compact but clean! We spent most of our time outside, so the room size didn't matter to us. Whenever we returned, it was cleaned. Every morning we had a nice breakfast! Our 7-year-old enjoyed it; it's beyond a normal breakfast! Before booking, I was reading reviews that the elevator is slow, but during our stay, it was only slow during peak times. Other than that, it's manageable! Worth the money spent! Bus stops to go both ways are just downstairs, easily commutable to the bus stops, 15 mins walk to the nearest beach, and 15 mins walk to the International Marketplace and the Waikiki beach! Easily commutable to all the main places, ABC stores and Island County market are very nearby. We ordered food via Uber, and they delivered near the lobby! In the room, they have a coffee maker, microwave, iron, mini fridge, hair dryer - everything that we need! That's great!

I usually try to leave positive reviews whenever possible, but I feel compelled to share my honest experience this time. As a Hawaii resident, I recently stayed at this hotel for one night using my IHG anniversary night certificate. While the check-in process itself was smooth, I was informed that a $100 deposit and a $39.17 resort fee would be charged. While the deposit is refundable, I was highly disappointed to learn that the resort fee was mandatory. When using points or free night certificates in places like Japan or South Korea, I have never been charged a resort fee. In fact, I visited both countries just three months ago and paid no such fees. I didn’t even use the pool, nor do I even know if this hotel has one. To me, charging a "resort fee" at a property located far from the beach makes little sense. If a hotel insists on charging a resort fee, it should at least provide the basic amenities to justify it. My room did not have a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, slippers, or a bathrobe—absolutely nothing. Paying an extra fee for a "resort" experience when even the bare essentials are missing is, frankly, unacceptable and frustrating from a guest's perspective. If this hotel wants to charge a resort fee, they need to properly equip their rooms and services to match that standard. I am highly disappointed with this stay.

Oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, some fruit. Warm section had eggs, some meat, vegetables. Salad greens in a big bowl, dressing on the side. Rice served in rice cooker. Soy milk now in cartons in mini fridge, missed the individual Pearl brand. Tea/Coffee. Hardworking staff, do a great job replenishing items and clearing tables. Water fill station in lobby. Good location, walking distance to beach, shopping and restaurants, Bus stop across the street. Another good stay, thank you.

The property is conveniently located near the beach, offering easy access to two shopping malls and numerous restaurants. The cleanliness of the property is commendable, and paid parking is available on-site. The excursion pick-up is either right on the property or just across the street. The hotel is quite popular, but it still manages to provide a comfortable stay. Every morning, from 6:30 to 9 AM, they serve a full breakfast. My room was small, but it was well-equipped for a seven-night stay. The cleanliness of the room was impressive, and I had a pleasant view of the canal.

There were six elevators and they were always busy but adequate.

This was our first time in Waikīkī. We had an amazing experience. The hotel staff, the cleanliness of the room and breakfast were excellent. The front desk staff Virginia and Sheryl were very professional, friendly and welcoming. They used sense and sensibility to our needs. Virginia went above and beyond giving us the best advice about the hotel, and the surroundings. We are totally satisfied with the staff, room and breakfast. We will definitely consider Holiday Inn Express for our next getaway.

This is a very large property with over 600 rooms I think. It is centrally located to shopping and sightseeing. There are also several food trucks two blocks away. If you are staying for a few days you might want to upgrade so you get a higher floor and view. Higher floors also use express elevators and that is a real plus. I was in a lower floor and the elevators took 10 to 15 minutes at busy times. The property is well maintained and very clean. I found the staff to be very helpful and professional. Parking is first served and there are not enough spaces so later arrivals may need to find street parking a few blocks away. The breakfast is good with a pretty good selection. It is efficiently laid out and is able to handle the large number of guests.

Before you book this hotel, here are a few things you should know. The rooms are teeny tiny. If you are a cruiser think of the cheapest inside category with a bed and bathroom. A tiny square box is all you get. That's it that's all. Excellent for ONE night. It was my husband and I and we stayed here for one night leading into our week stay in Ko Olina. Our priorities were Waikiki, bus line, near food, clean and near beach. We wanted to check out Waikiki and climb Diamond Head. So we booked using points plus $19. Upon check out they charged a resort fee, $39.17. This hotel served its purpose. Excellent location. We road The Bus (W route) to the hotel around 1pm on a Saturday. Easy Peasy. The Bus drops you off about a block or so from hotel. We also took The Bus to Diamond Head. It is a long walk to get to the entrance of Diamond Head. A good 30 minutes. Prepare yourself. Next time we will catch Lyft. The hotel is near Numerous places to eat, shop and sight see. Short walk to the beach. Breakfast. If you're an HIE person, it's just like all the other breakfasts served plus green beans. LOL! They give you tickets for each morning of your stay. The hotel is clean. Our room was clean. We didn't have any issues. We left our luggage their Sunday morning at Bell Hop and they locked it up for us before we caught the Bus back to the airport late that afternoon. This is not a 4 or 5 star resort. Hence, do not expect luxury accommodations and amenities. This is not for a long stay if it's 2 or more people. Think cheap clean accommodations for a solo person or college students who are just trying to get to Hawaii. The breakfast is the very simple HIE 3 star breakfast. Yes they have the cinnamon rolls. As long as you know what to expect before you book this hotel you will be fine.

This was an average Holiday Inn experience. The price is excellent (we paid ~$200 a night during a weekend) and the location is really good. It’s just a little bit of a mess in terms of the logistics. It’s a huge, tall building and the elevators are awful. We had to wait sometimes 10 min+ for an elevator. Many times the elevators would be full so you’d have to wait for the next one. The king size room we had was extremely small. But, it had an excellent view of the mountains and city. The staff was very friendly! The breakfast was not great…but it was free! So, generally it was a mixed bag. I think if you’re on a budget and you’re not spending a ton of time in the room you’ll be fine. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for a week.

Housekeeping has been very punctual and accommodating with our needs, by refilling amenities and cleaning our room. We are glad that this hotel has water bottles refill station. Glad this hotel serve breakfast duration of our stay. Wonderful beach view and was able to watch the firework on Friday night outside our window. So glad this hotel is near the Waikīkī beach, church, malls, fast foods and stores for your needs and relaxation.

Windows screen were dirty and had all lot of stains. Bathroom does not have any ventilation so we had to open the window when we take a shower. Doors are very loud when it closes so we have to make sure we close the door slowly with our hand. Laundry is quite expensive with every $5.25 a washer or dryer, quarters or credit card only. Several guest were moving my clothes out of the washer and dryer, being inpatient which is disturbing and disappointing. One of the elevator was down which makes it take a little longer to get into the elevator to our room for this hotel has all lot of guest in there hotel.

Great hotel in a great location within walking distance of the beach, restaurants and so many retail stores. The staff is beyond amazing especially Gladys that made checking in the easiest, fastest and most pleasant experience I had during my vacation. Gladys made sure that my daughter had exceptional 8th birthday celebration too. I would definitely recommend to family and friends looking to stay in the area.

The title says it all. When it comes down to price, it was very good value. It is roughly 1/2 a mile (800 meters) to Waikiki Beach. The room that we had was very cramped, parking was a disgusting $50 USD a night, breakfast was so-so and the elevators were very slow. We were on the 11th floor and I just took the stairs many times as did my family. I was also quite disappointed with the resort and amenity fees for a very mediocre hotel. That said, the staff were beyond kind, the room was clean the facility (pool, games rooms etc.) were all really good. I cannot say enough about them as they all had great attitudes and did amazing work. I won't stay at this hotel again but if you are on a budget, you could stay closer to the beach at a similar non-chain hotel as we have done in the past (I have been to Oahu 6 times)

The location was great, only a short 1/2 mile walk to the beach and Target. There were a good amount of options at breakfast.

The rooms were super small. The elevators didn't work or you had to wait forever so most of the time so we had to take the stairs. Some of the staff were crabby and rude. Finding parking was stressful and limited at the hotel. The parking garage was small with mostly compact spots. Breakfast was chaotic as the tables filled up so fast and everyone was a pushy pig. The game room was tiny and so was the pool.
