Their furniture and TVs are almost 30 years old or more. The tv in my room kept turning it's volume to zero every few minutes and would only allow me to turn it back up after I unplugged the tv and cable box to reset them. This motel is a beat up old crap hole, but it's cheap and clean.

Reviewed Aug 4, 2024In the last couple years I’ve needed frequent hotel stays in FSJ, the cost adds up so I tried a more budget friendly hotel. I was very surprised at the friendly staff and the upgraded rooms were very clean. The staff went above there necessary duties a few times for me and it is appreciated. My parents and there little dog often come along and they will accommodate pets. This is my go to for hotel stays n FSJ now.

I left at 8:00 am for a full day of meetings and when I returned at 7:00 pm the room had not been cleaned. I checked out and requested refund of the second day. After much complaining, they refined one night. I have pictures that should be on their ads.

There are red and brown spot smudges on the bathroom wall heater and the toiled bowl has stained/blackened bottom. The room has a definite smell on it esp the bathroom. The mini fridge yellowish and old which is okay as long as clean.

The only problem was, it was 10 AM check out is11 AM housekeeper knocked on the door and I yelled out twice that we were in there...They phoned us twice.I answered the phone after the housekeeper walked in on us... I said to the gentleman on the phone that checked up was 11.Why were they bothering us at 10am... He asked if we were staying another night and I said no,.. I start work at noon so we were just having coffee until check out.. I felt like we were being rushed when the hotel was very quiet that day 😳

One of the main issues was that the lock had been kicked off previously. I would never stay in a dive without a proper door lock. She pushed the chair up against the door and stayed i found out two days later

Reviewed Oct 8, 2023They have done a great job to renovate and update the rooms. This is a complete 180 from what this place used to be. It is good to see that the place is now non-smoking. Unfortunately, the only drawback for me, is that the smell of cigarette smoke still lingers. Otherwise, the new Northern Lights Inn is a great improvement over its predecessor.

Reviewed Oct 4, 2023Didn't get housekeeper. No rug which i liked. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Shower was excellent, lots of hot water. No plug in sink was afraid of loosing something down there. Place is old but comfortable, updated lock on door. No elevator, lots of metal stairs to climb to get to 2nd floor. Everything worked as it should.

The room was dreary, the bed covering and sofa both had a multitude of stains on them, the ceilings were office style sound tiles with unwelcoming fluorescent light fixtures. The safety lock on the door was broken was broken. From the other reviews I read, I expected a lot more. Slapping a coat of paint on the outside of the building does not qualify as renovated, in my opinion. Even though it is stated that there is no smoking in the rooms, it smelled like stale cigerates.

Was told at check in that one person quit and the second week I was there, there was no one. Front desk staff came but only did the basics. Sheets, replaced towels and soap. Didnt actually clean the bathroom or unit. Again though....for the price its not bad. Howard Johnson was way worse!!
