Provider-sourced guest reviews.
I left something of value in the room and the manager texted to say that they had found it, which I thought was excellent customer service.
We had a great stay at the Craftsman Inn. The room was lovely and very clean, the staff was pleasant. It's also a great location, across the street from a Town Center and minutes away from Green Lakes State Park. Complementary breakfast was a plus! Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.
We have stayed here many many times. When they first took over, it was lovely and then it went downhill a bit and now it lovely again. The beds are extremely comfortable and the staff is very friendly. I find the breakfast just adequate, but that’s no different than any ofthese motels that serve breakfast. The location is perfect for us as we have family in the area.
Having stayed at the Craftsman Inn several times in the past, this stay was extremely disappointing, to say the least ! Being placed on the first floor was not an issue, but the two dogs, left unattended, and barking every time someone passed by, was unacceptable. People can fly the "SERVICE DOG" flag, but it's gone too far and is abused and is out of hand. A service dog, #1, should accompany the handler being serviced, not left alone. #2, a true service dog is trained to be quiet, even if left alone for a short time. These animals were clearly just family dogs tagging along, ruining all surrounding guests stay, while the owner was out enjoying themselves. After repeated calls, the front desk assured us that the owner was contacted and was returning, from where, who knows. After hours, we requested and were given a room change.
DO NOT STAY HERE. We have stayed here many times over the years as it is a convenient stop on our regular trips between Ohio and New Hampshire but will never stay here again. We recently had a reservation for Thursday evening for a suite for three people. We called ahead to inform them we would be arriving after midnight and could only get an AI bot despite requesting to be connected to a human being. However the AI did take our name and information, repeatedly assured us that arriving late was not an issue, and left a note in the system for the front desk. When we arrived however, our room had been given away. We were told by Lulu (the woman working the front desk overnight)that they assumed it was one person and so moved us to a room with one bed despite our reservation saying it was for three people and us having a confirmed booking for a suite. This alone would be unacceptable, especially given that we had called to confirm the late arrival, but what made this so much worse is how rude and dismissive Lulu was. We understand that mistakes happen, but she showed zero desire to attempt to problem solve or offer any kind of resolution. Moreover, even just being kind about it would have likely been enough but instead she was incredibly rude and kept saying “there’s nothing I can do”. It was clear that the person who worked the shift before her had screwed up and she was pissed that she had to deal with it. I understand working the overnight shift at a mid-level hotel in suburban Syracuse is not a dream job, but one shouldn’t work the front desk at a hotel if they have zero interest in being helpful or considerate to customers. We had noticed the quality going down here over the past several visits (rooms are starting to look very beat up, cleanliness slipping, staff doesn’t want to be there) but had continued to stay for the convenience along our regular route and the ability to bring the dog. We will certainly never be back. Reading through the reviews now it seems they have an issue with giving away people’s confirmed rooms so that alone should make you very weary of booking here. This is clearly a place that does not care about customer service and is cutting every possible corner. Given that, you are much better off staying at a major chain hotel where you will at least have access to more reliable customer service in the face of an issue and the ability to earn loyalty points. Would love to see this place under new ownership that actually wants to run a decent hotel as it is certainly needed in the area but this is not it!
Reservation process was flawless, the room matched our expectations, the staff folks were genuinely concerned about our enjoyment during the stay, and the Craftsman Inn was a perfect focal point for our activities.
We had a great stay at the Craftsman Inn! We went with our kids and everyone enjoyed the stay. The front desk staff was very helpful and EXTRA big shoutout to the special lady who helped with breakfast! It was my daughter’s 4th birthday the first morning we got breakfast there and she made her feel so extra special! We enjoyed her the next morning too and she was very helpful with breakfast and making us feel so welcome. There were other guests here that were so enjoyable and welcoming as well!

The room was filthy. The bathroom floor was filthy. The whole place was dirty.
I’ve stayed in the Craftsman twice, both for family activities in the area. Both times I had the same type of experience, so I can only think it is rather routine. Both times I was awakened by thuds above us and noisy people who I assume are drunk. I can’t assume they are from your establishment, but regardless, it did put a damper on my feelings toward your establishment. Both times I stayed, I was turned off by your breakfast area. It is too small for the size of your hotel, and both times I felt it was an unhealthy place to eat. This weekend, the preparation/utility room adjacent to the food area was open and the view inside did not give me confidence in the cleanliness of the food station. In the food area itself, a big piece of cellophane wrapping from a food product lay on the counter by the bagel area. I saw an elderly patron handle most of the muffins with his hands as he tried to find the one he wanted. No tongs, no gloves, just his bare hands. I did report this to the front desk and they replaced the muffins. I can only think this goes on all the time. For the price of a room, I would expect better. To end on a positive note, I did enjoy sitting in the lounge/bar area with family and enjoyed your appetizers of soft pretzel and cauliflower. Your staff was very nice as well.
Good location.
Breakfast was not great.
Stylish, room newly renovated and very clean
Breakfast is included but the staff member working the breakfast shift was extremely rude and unhelpful. Might have just had a bad day, who knows
Good place, would go again, a few minor things to work on (shower caulk, stronger coffee), but lots of good points- amazing bed, nice breakfast and breakfast staff, on site restaurant.
Where do I start. If you’re looking for an homey older vibe place with modern amenities and a high end feel, you found the place. Just the entrance alone with wooden welcoming rocking chairs set the vibe immediately. There is a small front desk with staff that is superior in customer service that starts off your stay in the perfect way. A very cute homey feel lobby that seconds as the complementary breakfast area with charm and center pieces you wish you could take home and put in your garden. You may even pick up these not real but real looking planters to see if you yourself could purchase a couple like I did. Then the room itself, we had a small suite which wasn’t small. I first emailed the hotel before booking to make sure they accept large dogs. Most hotels have a weight limit and on this occasion we travelled with our 90 lb baby. The room had great space for the 3 of us. It had a very clean feel and smell to it. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was a crisp white insuring it was perfectly clean. The bathroom was normal size bathroom with updated shower doors and fixtures making it appear modern but still welcoming. The Lockwood shampoo, conditioner, washes and lotions were luxury. If I could find one complaint and I mean try, it would be the coffee. Too weak for our liking but that is easily fixed by bringing your own k-cup if you’re picky with your coffee like us. We used this hotel as the perfect location to spend the days at Green Lakes State Park. Our family members booked a cabin in the park and we were visiting them and the beautiful park for a few days. This was a quick, easy, peaceful 10 to 15 min drive away. We left the hotel early morning and arrived back late at night with no issues. We will be staying here again and again in the future.
Really cute hotel, very comfortable room set up and bed. Great location- some shopping and restaurants within walking distance. Easy drive to sights and to Syracuse. Beautiful area overall.
No cleaning service- for the price we are paying seems this should be offered. And cleaning between guests could be better- my floor in bathroom felt sticky and there was blueberry muffin crumbs stuck in one of my bath towels. Just feel like there is not an attention to detail.
This looked just like the photos. It had more character than a lot of hotels where you would stay in a strip mall/suburban type of location. It had a restaurant next door with a great vibe. That was super convenient.
Coffee was bad. The breakfast was really clean and nice with a lot of choices. Typical of this type of hotel
Location was good for our visit purposes unfortunately a power outage caused us to miss a dinner opportunity at the restaurant, which was the main reason we chose this hotel. The continental breakfast was good. Hotel was quiet at night.
The hallways and room were on the dark side. A little more light, especially in the hallways, would be better. The shower leaked onto the bathroom floor. Price per night exceeded the quality of the room. Difficult to find adequate places to plug in mobile phones. Desk area of USB plugs shuts off when the main light is shut off so phones did not charge. Furniture seemed worn, floors on 2nd level squeaked, trim a little dusty.
Nice friendless staff.Clean hotel, excellent breakfast, of which is included in your stay.. I will definitely stay here again. Close proximity to LA moyne college. Nice steakhouse, i'm the property and of course the street from plenty of shopping. This is a nice hotel
The accommodations were beautiful.
The beds were memory foam ... not comfortable for anyone with a bad back. The foam also retains heat and is so hot.
The look and feel of the property made it feel like home. The restaurant next door was great with amazing food and drinks. Staff was top notch
Nice, quiet, comfy centrally located. Free breakfast is a bonus. Modest but useful fitness room
Good, close to the areas of what we were there for.
Rooms are small .
Hotel is very nice, rooms are spacious and modern, very clean, big TV screen, staff is very courteous, the lady that takes care of breakfast is very attentive and goes above and beyond to serve and help guests. Very conveniently located, has a nice restaurant plus you have a large strip mall in front (supermarket, food, clothing and different stores). 5 minutes or so from Green Lakes state park, the best combo of nature and urban setting.
I wish rooms had a microwave, The small fridge was nice, not sure if it was defective or not very potent. At that value I feel microwaves should be available in rooms. Not a deal breaker considering other factors like a very decent breakfast and nice facility.
Great breakfast. Incredible staff.
No bathtub
Great location. Friendly staff. Modern updated bathrooms.
Major let down at the Craftsman Steakhouse. Which was one of the reasons for selecting hotel. 4/4 plates came out with raw steaks that should have been medium. Restaurant seriously dropped the ball. We were forced to find another restaurant on zero notice with limited time left in the evening. Really compromised the experience on a weekend we were mourning the loss of my mother. Probably wouldn’t return based on that experience alone.
Thank you for adding to our 49th anniversary experience. The room was perfect, dinner was awesome. Everyone working there was extremely nice and helpful. (Shout out to the front desk receptionist on Wednesday afternoon. Sorry, don't know her name) We love this area and plan on coming back.
Check in staff friendly. Evening staff "Andrew" was awesome. We had a toilet seat full of poop and he immediately came to the suite to clean the toilet, no questions asked.
We expect cleaning staff to clean, especially under the toilet seat. The breakfast was nothing to brag about. Same as a Red Rood Inn or any lower cost hotel.
Booked a "suite" for SU graduation; paid over $1000 for one person for 2 nights. The outside of this hotel looks fancy and cool, but the room was neither. The suite is one room, zero decor, old furniture and lamps, a coffee maker that doesn't work, no room service, not even one bottle of water in the room. There is no information in the room about the hotel or the area; just a stark bare cold room with no vibe. The suites are in a separate building, and you have to walk across the parking lot to get to the lobby, where there is coffee and breakfast, which ends promptly at 10am. The peephole on the door was about 6 feet up, so I couldn't see out without a chair. It seems they can get away with charging $500/night based on limited availability in the area for people visiting Syracuse University. This "inn and suites" is more of a motel ala Schitt's Creek. Don't expect luxury, even if paying luxury prices. Positive: convenient location, attached restaurant (which I did not try) nice staff.
The Craftsman was very clean and had a cozy vibe. The staff was friendly and efficient.
I had no complaints and would stay there again.
Manager and desk clerks sadly gave different information to guests. My room was never cleaned during my 3 1/2 day stay, and I only was able to get clean towels by finally finding someone to give me some at 11 PM the night before my departure. I was grateful to get a room during the Syracuse graduation, but the price was quite outrageous. Breakfast was good, and the people who worked were lovely and worked very hard, other than the manager who called me in the middle of the Syracuse graduation.
I stayed in room 174 and did not have a hot shower the entire week. In addition the shower valve is plumbed backward, hot is col and cold is hot. This needs to be corrected. I have 2 more stays upcoming and hope to not get this room again
Location- within 15 minutes of Syracuse University campus. Shopping and restaurant options just across the street. Green lakes was very close as well.
Wonderful little place when you are staying in Syracuse. It’s about 20 minutes away from the University. The area is suburban and has many amenities. Starbucks is walking distance, for instance…the restaurant on site has great food and great service. The rooms were clean, and the staff was friendly. Such a minor issue, but the parking lot does get a little tight at times but no big deal.
Perfecte accommodatie, heerlijk rustig, aardige mensen, mega kamer met genoeg ruimte en faciliteiten.
Iets meer licht in de kamer, bij de keuken was handiger geweest, extra lamp of iets
Everything was good except the shower head, very low flow of water. They need to get new shower heads with better flowing water. It makes for better day when a good shower is taken in the morning.
Goos sized room
We found someone else’s dirty sock upon our arrival.
Comfortable room in a nice location outside Syracuse. Just 12 minutes from campus.
Location. Near to my meeting points.
After my whole day meetings, I look forward to returning to hotel for a relaxing night. Having just a few water bottles in the room would be such a welcome. Instead of having to go back to lobby to buy some or visit a store nearby. most of time I forget to buy before hand.
All was great-location. cleanliness, staff everything
No complaints at all, if people complain, they are chronic complainers that will complain no matter what!
Clean, quiet, well-appointed family-owned hotel; not a chain. Nice breakfast, really nice staff.
The hotel itself is cute and has better decor than most hotels. But there are three significant problems that meaningfully impede on a stay here. First, there is no soundproofing. I’m sitting here right now listening to every roar and loud noise from the TV next door. I can feel their motorcycle racing program in my feet, and their TV is across the room from me and through a wall. The elephants above me? I can hear every step and creak and crack. Second problem: there is some persistent fragrance in the room. Something chemical perfumey, vaguely fruity. And the third problem? It is impossible to get the blinds fully closed, which is a problem when you’re on the first floor -and- the sun’s going to come in.
I love the woman who takes care of the breakfast buffet. Her friendliness and positive spirit makes you feel welcomed and at home!! She bring out the best in all the guests.
The rooms were nice. Similar to a Hilton or Marriott.
The hotel comes with continental breakfast. But when we walked into the breakfast area at 8am there were about 50 high school or college age kids taking up all the seats. They were not eating. They were all just sitting there talking and looking at their phones as apparently the chaperones told them to meet there. Meanwhile, there were no places to sit for the patrons looking to eat. The kids didn’t care nor did the hotel staff. Very maddening
The breakfast was well done and the person attending was kind and efficient. The beds and pillows were comfortable.
Refrigerator was not plugged in and the cord did not reach the outlet. Bathroom caulk needs to be redone.
This small hotel lovingly centers Craftsman furniture and style as well as great service and comfort. The room was impeccably appointed, bath towels huge and thirsty cotton, beds luxuriously comfortable. Breakfast offered waffles, excellent single-serving souffles and breakfast sandwiches as well as continental fare such as fruit, cereal, bagels & cream cheese, pastries, and muffins. All of the staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming. We haven’t tried the adjacent restaurant but look forward to doing that during our stay. This has been the best value as well as the best appointed hotel I think I’ve ever visited. What a find!
Room was well appointed and had everything I needed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable; HVAC a bit noisy. Would definitely stay here again when I'm back visiting the area! PS - highly recommend the onsite restaurant!
Always a pleasure to stay here! Excellent service, amenities and room. Thank you
Excellent place to stay if you like great service. They have a restaurant attached that will more than satisfy you.
The staff was welcoming and professional, my room was clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast exceeded expectations. An all around good experience at a one-of-a-kind inn.
The only problem we had was that during our 4 night stay we had to have the room key card reprogrammed 5 times. Either we couldn't get in our room, signature suite, or into the building. After the fifth time the desk clerk said he would give us a $50 credit which didn't show up checkout. It was mentioned to the clerk at checkout but was not on the email receipt. We visit family in the area 3-4 times a year and have in the past stay here.
Great location, clean rooms, and good food comfortable atmosphere at the restaurant. Looking forward to staying there in the future!
This hotel was perfect for a fast overnight work trip. The rooms are basic not huge, but fine for a hotel room. They were clean and the bathroom was stocked well with towels and VERY clean& the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was great and included for no fee and a large space to eat which was nice. The restaurant attached was wonderful! I am looking forward to coming up again and staying. All the hotel staff were wonderful as well.
A great Inn with great people. Not to mention the restaurant attached to it is great too. It’s a good location and has a lot of stores and things to do in the area. Will visit again soon!
I have stayed at the Craftsman Inn several times and it somehow gets better every single time I stay. The first time was so memorable and of such high quality that I didn’t even think twice about rebooking. Each time since had just been even better than the prior visit. The people are very friendly and knowledgeable and they make your stay such a pleasure. From the minute you check in to the breakfast in your way out every detail is thought of and customized for your experience. I will stay nowhere else in Syracuse NY. Make sure to try their restaurant as well it is fabulous!
Location is good. Breakfast wonderful. Staff very efficient and friendly. Loved the room. Very clean and modern
Nothing could have been better
Convenient location. Exterior is attractive and the rooms are spacious.
Receptionist at check-in was a little brief and did give detailed directions on finding our room. It was in another building and we had to go outdoors
Location was fine,
Breakfast offerings could have been a little better, a little non flavored creamer for coffee, stuff like that. It was a little generic compared to the rest of the property. The vending area closest to my room had no vending offerings, so that was a sort of bemusement and savings.
The room was clean.
The breakfast options could have been better.
Beautiful outside. The restaurant and breakfast were great. Location was great. Overall great value and stay
Great location
There was a huge crack in the ceiling, that bathroom door was awfully loud, the lady who was helping with breakfast was beyond rude, the walls are super thin, heard yelling and dogs barking all night
We stayed one evening. Upon check in (which was very smooth) I recognized that the room we booked was less than ideal (suite Room 260). The issue was based mostly on cleanliness. However, when the heat turned on, the TV rattled which made peaceful sleep a challenge. I explained the issues to Wen at the front desk, and he shared our concerns with the Manager, Isaac. Both validated my concerns. Isaac worked hard to make our stay better. If you book at the Craftsman, know that calmly explaining any concerns will be heard by an extremely kind, and professional staff.
I have stayed at many hotels and most are cookie cutter types. Most being a room with a staff that does their job well. A nice room and maybe a restaurant or a convenience shop. The Craftsman is much more from the moment you enter the lobby, you get a homey feeling. Being welcomed by an above average freindly staff that goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. The 5 star restaurant is outstanding. A little pricey for my budget, but an outstanding choice for a special occasion. Need I say dinner with my wife is a special occasion. Stay, eat and enjoy.
Great hotel and restaurant! The rooms are clean and property is well kept. The staff are attentive and the breakfast is a nice added bonus! Convenient to highways, local stores, etc.
We’ve stayed here multiple times over the past six years while visiting family. It’s always been decent, but the quality has sadly gone off a cliff recently. They’ve stopped doing housekeeping during your stays, our tv didn’t work, the fireplace in our room didn’t work, there are no towels or cups in the gym, some of the gym equipment is breaking down, and we had to wait twenty minutes for someone to show up at the front desk when we tried to check in. We won’t be returning.
Third time back and just as enjoyable. Beautifully furnished and maintained with a comfortable lobby with fireplace and Christmas decorations. Bathroom on the small side, but still has everything you need and a nice hot shower. Great size TV and ample outlets and USB ports. Convenient to Fayetteville shopping and restaurants. Great hot breakfast which is well managed and stocked
Nothing to mention
The receptionist on the day of checking in was very friendly and nice. Showing both a "shortcut" to the restaurant next doors as well as more parking lots in the back. Restaurant next doors served alot of good drinks and also had a nice menu.
The room smelled "old". The upstairs neighbours started banging and walking above at 6 AM on a Sunday morning, which we could really hear.
Went to the lobby for coffee twice both times the coffee was terrible. Housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. The coffee pot in the room had a pod left in it for God knows how long it had some kind of crap growing on it which means housekeeping never touches the coffee pot. Honestly, the next time I go to that area, I will be looking for another hotel. I will only stay there as a last resort and it’s a shame because it could be a nice place. Oh I forgot they installed the shower doors facing the wrong way the inside shower door is stationary the outside shower door slides back-and-forth, which allows the shower to squirt outside between the two doors real genius installed these and they call themselves the craftsman they don’t know what a craftsman is!
Verhältnismäßig großes Zimmer, schönes Badezimmer. Sehr gutes Restaurant gleich daneben.
Looks nice and conveniently located
Fairly loud; can hear other guest way too easily
So comfortable!
