Location and ambience
a little musty
Good location. The restaurant served a variety of hot and cold food. Large car park.
The room decor was dated and smelt damp.
It was comfortable
Clean but needs a refurb very tired
Close to where we needed to be. Staff were very friendly
Shower in the bath due to knee issues. It was a long step down when getting out of the bath
The Moldy Fig
People chatting loudly outside our room. We couldn't open windows because of the noise and smoke. It was a very warm night!
It’s very convenient for the docks at Southampton. The live music was of a very high standard!
The hotel is a bit dated and the air conditioning units haven’t worked since Covid I was told. Not normally an issue but it here was a heatwave when we stayed there.
Great location for an early flight from Southampton. Free parking. Reception chap helpful. No issues whatsoever. Good hotel for quick stop.
Nothing.
I had dinner by room service at 8.45pm on Tuesday. Ham, egg and chips, it was good and a good promo bedsheets and towels were clean and new TV was decent
Atrocious bed, lumpy not flat and just uncomfortable I woke up several times in the night and had a backache in the morning the curtains were filthy the airconditioning didn't work The whole place was a bit tired and in need of renovation Smelled of dogs
Great showers good food and drink in the attached hotel restaurant
Could do with new mattresses and some refurbishment
So easy to find. Check in very quick and efficient though I arrived quite late. An extremely comfortable bed so slept really well. Would definitely stay again.
Nothing I can think of
Really clean and comfortable. A lovely hotel room and a very comfy nights sleep. Super peaceful and quiet. Right next to a country park which was perfect for an early eve stroll and the Moldy Fig was a great place for eve meal - great food and the staff were brilliant.
Nothing
Lovely place, nice big comfy beds and very quiet.
Absolutely wonderful hotel . Great location and wonderful staff
Nothing
We couldn't fault the restaraunt, the food was fantastic.
Having stayed previously, 3 years ago, we were disappointed to see that the rooms have not been redecorated, they are looking very tired, are very dated and need some maintenance. Our room needed the carpet replacing, the hook on the bathroom door was not fit for purpose, it was ready to fall off if any weight was added. The bathroom as a whole was beyond ready for a refit. We arrived a little late and asked for the receptionist to book us a table at the restaraunt next door whilst we got changed, she said she would but once we got there they had not heard of our booking.
The location and the service were good.
The bathroom needed cleaning and the toilet seat was broken.
The breakfast was fine. Need bigger glasses for your Juice lovely stuff quick service for breakfast.
The room didn’t smell too good. The bath is way too deep to get in and out of my wife actually slipped and hurt herself.
Breakfast at the Moldy Fig restaurant was very good and the service very quick. Pleasant staff. The room was fairly clean. The bed was okay.
Room 1 - The carpets in the room looked old & tired but appeared clean. There was a damp smell in the room when we first walked in. Probably unused for a while as it was right next to the reception. The hot water was intermittent in the shower. There were specks of mould on the bathroom ceiling. Only one hand towel was provided for a dual stay room. Air conditioning unit was not working and therefore the room was pretty warm until late evening despite the windows being left open. There was no fan available in the room. The safe in the room was no working. A TV was in the room but unfortunately the remote would not work to change the channels. Only the on/off and the volume buttons worked. A pleasant lady at the reception in the evening exchanged the remote kindly but it made no difference. Later the night care taker tried to fix it but failed. He said he would ask the night supervisor and be back. That was the last we saw of him! All in all the stay was definitely not worth the money I paid via booking.com. This is perhaps the first property I have stayed using booking.com that did not come close to my expectation. I would pay perhaps half of what I paid to stay in a place like that next time.
It was located in a nice area
Unfortunately the bar was over expensive a single bells and lemonade a a glass of white wine over £20 ( didn’t think we were stopping in the Hilton ) They had no cider in the main bar but I tend to think they concentrated on keeping it for the concert side Also the kitchen was taking breakfast orders when we asked for tomatoes they said all gone which is down to bad ordering management The room 105 very dated bathroom in need of renovation grout missing between tiles massive gaps
Easy access to port
Room looked a bit tired.
Reception staff very helpful. Breakfast was served in a very quaint restaurant and the staff were absolutely excellent. Lovely setting with enjoyable nearby walk around the lakes. There venue also holds concerts which we were not aware of and we will make sure we attend one in the future
Nothing. You have to accept that the hotel is older and therefore not the most modern but Is quaint and the setting is lovely which makes up for it.
Evening receptionist was very helpful. Dog friendly.
Great location, nice room
TV didn’t work, air conditioning didn’t work
Breakfast OK.
Wall lights in the room were both defective. There was a very old air con unit which did not work and looked bad. Toilet seat was loose and dangerous. Generally thd room was tired and not up to the standard we expected fir thd monet paid. Bed was really small by today's standards. Will not stay again. Mentioned some if this at reception when checking out and staff didn't seem surprised or bothered. Also vert noisy until late from function nearby.
Comfortable
TV didnt work, not an issue as I didnt need it. Staff were great
Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal.
Staff were brilliant
All good
I booked this for the location, in anticipation of our cruise from Southampton. Having been at the venue for many years as a performer, I was looking forward to staying here….. but oh dear :-(
The room was in an appalling state of repair and cleanliness. Almost every tile in the tiny bathroom was cracked, with dirt ingrained into the damaged surfaces. The showerhead was coated in brown grime and limescale, making it feel neglected and unhygienic. The bed was old, worn out and deeply uncomfortable, with every spring painfully noticeable throughout the night. The dated brown furniture was literally falling apart, while the carpet was caked in dust around the skirting boards and bathroom doorway, clearly indicating that it had not been properly deep-cleaned for quite some time. Any hope of a decent night’s sleep was quickly shattered. Loud music from the marquee directly outside our room continued well into the evening, while the threadbare, ageing curtains failed to block either the noise or the light. External lighting flooded the room throughout the night and into the early morning, making restful sleep virtually impossible. We raised our concerns with the receptionist, who was courteous, apologetic and explained that the hotel was currently refurbishing its rooms. Unfortunately, ours was clearly not one of the refurbished rooms. Whilst her apology was appreciated, no offer of compensation or goodwill gesture was made despite the unacceptable standard of the accommodation. And so ends my association with what was once a truly great music venue and hotel. It has become tired, dirty and poorly maintained, offering accommodation that falls well below the standard its prices suggest. To make matters worse, the adjoining music venue no longer attracts the calibre of acts that once made it worth visiting. To borrow the title of one of the neighbouring music venue’s most memorable performances, ‘I Gotta Feeling’ this hotel will continue to disappoint its guests unless significant investment is made to restore it to an acceptable standard. All the best.
Staff very helpful
Room not clean nasal discharge on wall near light
Nice peaceful/relaxing place to stay with some really nice walking tracks/lakes very close by.
Nothing
Hotel Staff were very helpful & their 'helper' little Ollie was just cuteness itself. Breakfast staff were great too - all helped make the visit.
Fan was OK but Air Conditioning would have been better.
All desk clerks were friendly , they always had a smile and spoke to me every time I left for the venue or returned
I had brilliant dry weather, could have been a problem if wet and cold to walk quite a distance to the venue for entertainment or breakfast
The setting was beautiful
The bed! It was awful, it was the worst night sleep I’ve had at a hotel!
Staff were great. Big towels. The wedding we attended was great. Held outside. The team running it all were competent, efficient and everything went smoothly. 10/10 for them
The room was old fashioned. Had cobwebs which bothered me but not my husband. Couldn't get cold bath tap working. Was then explained it wasn't a cold tap but temp regulator. Never seen that before. Also bulbs missing from lamps which made it look neglected.
Lovely hotel , ideally situated,clean
It was 38 degrees but had no air con or fan in rooms and none available which wasn't advertised
Great location has been good
Standards are falling could do with a good clean and updating - we had a dog and couldn’t sleep as he was sniffing all night - extra fee is paid for deep cleaning after a dog stay
Location
The decor was tired and drab and there was no air conditioning in the room, public areas, bar or restaurant
We arrived close to midnight. Parking spaces were available in the large car park and we were greeted by a cheerful night porter who dealt with check in expeditiously. The bed was comfortable and the ground floor room was quiet and had everything we needed. Breakfast, which was included in the room rate, was served in the restaurant next door and set us up for the day.
Enjoyed the whole stay.

Location
The room I was given was loaded with a strong mildew smell. The only other room available did not have a working bathroom light, carpets old and looked dirty…but I took it to avoid the mildew smell. The staff were apologetic but it was disappointing and I would not stay again.
Very friendly and welcoming staff
Very poor WiFi and a mattress and pillows that were way too soggy and gave no support
Breakfast was beautiful
That our friends paid for the same room as us but there room was a lot better newer and up to date ours was very dated friends had a fan and we didn’t told none available
Couldn't fault our stay, this is our 4th visit + enjoy our stay every time. Comfortable room + facilities. Good was great in the restaurant served by lovely staff. Definitely be returning ☺️
Nothing not to like
Staff were very kind and helpful - especially when we needed to store medication in their staff fridge as there was none in the rooms. Breakfast was decent for £10 when pre-ordering at reception. Dinner was great, hot and well presented. Ingredients felt fresh and home cooked.
Portion size for hot breakfast should be more - i.e. only 1 hash brown, very small portion of beans, mushrooms and only half a griddled tomato. Biggest issue is that thee AC units in rooms were disabled - also no fans in the rooms. Very poor considering recent heatwaves.
Nothing much. Staff were friendly enough
Very shabby, needs a lot of work. Threadbare carpets, duct tape put down on carpet edges in room, bathroom floor splitting, poor maintenance, toilet was broken, air conditioning inoperable, windows and curtains were filthy, hair dryer missing
Although we are as usual invited to submit a review the fact is we stay in this hotel very frequently as a before and after stop-over for the Spanish ferry at Portsmouth. That really tells the tale-we always stay here. The staff could not be more helpful and we can park the car conveniently. The restaurant is good evening and morning and since it is virtually on the motorway we can arrive and leave with ease. 'Nuff said!!
This time we fell for a heat wave-not a common event it is fair to say. Alas, no air-con in the room-just an open window so a sticky night. This time the bed seemed a little bit small-a 'queen possibly-or maybe it was just the heat and humidity. The first time this has been an issue to be candid.Public areas have air-con I think.
Very friendly and accommodatung welcome despite my late arrival. Had a family feel, in the morning the cleaners were working together and you could tell they loved working there.
Couldn't find my late husband Pat Crumly's photo on the jazz wall of fame. Not sure her ever performed there but lots of his jazz mates did. Dave Green, John Critchinson, Georgie Fame etc etc. 😊
Little dated but comfortable Room was cool
SHower a little vicious
Far better than the concrete jungles that are modern hotels
room was a bit dated.
Very dated room and dusty.
Lovely hotel staff very helpful lovely food
The location, the staff greetings and excellent way I was informed of facilities and meals. The room was cool and well appointed. Use of the "Mouldy Fig" as breakfast venue was appreciated.
So easy to find and park. So easy to access the airport car parks. Room was comfortable, good shower. Club restaurant good atmosphere and excellent dinner and breakfast menus.
Toilet awkward to sit on, too close to wall.
Location, easy to find. Good parking facilities, except when there’s an event being held at Mouldy fig which is in hotel grounds and caters for hotel breakfast and dinner, then can be a little problematic. A must place to visit for Jazz fans as many artists have performed there over the years and there are loads of photos of them to observe.
Rooms whilst clean and comfortable, were a little tired and in need of some refurbishment. Mouldy Fig which serves breakfast and evening food was again in need of some TLC and the evening service was very slow, despite there not being too many people in the restaurant.
Food was good, location was good.
Dated, air-con not working-told by staff, since COVID
Location Room size Comfortable bed Parking
Use of qr code technology for parking Checkout is an early 10.30am Shower curtain mould Patched bedroom wall holes done without care - room 12 ...basically, run-of-the-mill
Breakfast was great, lots of choice.
Not alot...
Pretty setting
It needs updating.Windows and curtains were old and scruffy.
Convenient and clean
Disappointing experience at breakfast second morning
Excellent over night stay breakfast was excellent and staff were lovely and helpful.
A little bit dated in the rooms.
Breakfast and waiting staff were excellent.
Specifically booked a 1 night hotel stay with parking prior to going on a cruise. Price and location were ok, unfortunately the problems started on the way there. Received a call asking if we were with one of the events taking place, which we knew nothing about. The told us that they were not serving food that evening due to a music event and 2 private parties happening at the venue. Arrived at the hotel and booked in, which included registering my vehicle with their parking company. Room overlooked music venue, so was noisy and no alternative rooms available. Ended up at a local pub for our evening meal. Worst thing though was when we got home after a 12 night cruise, we had received a £100 parking fine in the post for "failing to register" with 1 day left to appeal. Parking company had no contact number, no email and although we have appealed, nothing shows on their system. Fully expect to be called to a smalls claim court unless I pay this fine in full. Turned out to be a very stressful experience, instead of a relaxing pre-cruise stay. Consequently I will never stay at this venue again.
Good quiet location close to the port of Southampton.
Air conditioning broken, room was stifling hot and impossible to sleep. Fire alarm went off at 3am due to steam escaping from another guests shower room. Pillows were totally inadequate and tiny/flat. Room was clean but restaurant was filthy, glasses had lipstick on them, cutlery was dirty. Not enough staff, so long wait.
Food was great
Coffee was not very nice
The staff in the restaurant were very helpful filling our bottles in the morning with iced water.
We stayed here during the recent heatwave after a four-hour drive. Unfortunately, our ground-floor room was directly affected by a wedding reception, making it far too noisy to open the window. We asked for a fan and were told staff would try to find one, but none was ever provided, leaving the room uncomfortably hot. To make matters worse, the fire alarm sounded during the night. Guests were were unsure if it was a real emergency with no visible member of staff available for several minutes. We were later told the alarm system can be triggered by things such as bathroom steam or aerosol spray, which raises questions about whether it is set too sensitively. The room itself was acceptable, but the overall experience was let down by poor communication and a lack of support. A warning about the wedding, or simply providing a fan or another solution, would have made a significant difference.
Breakfast available at a discounted rate at the moldy fig next door was worth doing. Comfy double bed. Overall - could do better with a little investment and attention to details.
A rather tired hotel which needs investment to bring it up to modern standards. By way of examples - Rooms with double glazing that has blown and so the windows are misty, air con units on the wall that do not work. Very dark furniture which makes the room feel darker and smaller than it actually is. We got a rude awakening at 3am because the smoke / fire alarm went off. This was caused by one of the guests having a shower with the bathroom door open which caused steam to get onto the smoke detector and set the alarms off. Although we felt fortunate that this wasn’t a fire this is something that could be easily avoided by having self close doors on the bathrooms. When I looked there was a small note about keeping the door closed when having a shower which could be easily missed. We missed it when we showered earlier in the evening and I suppose we were fortunate not to set the alarm off! Overall - could do better with a little investment and attention to details.
Would be great fir the airport but would literally choose any of the other hotels. The grounds are nice. Size of room was decent.
During a heatwave. No offer of making unbearably hot rooms comfortable for guests whatsoever. Air con units have been switched off since covid. Probably realised how much cheaper bills were. No offer of a fan or any easement of the heat. Staying away is meant to be a nicer experiencen we wish we went home. Owner should be ashamed. If they had not have taken our payment we would of cancelled and gone home. No offer of refund of room n choice to cancel room. We literally was so hot in the room we couldnt sleep. We had to cancel our trip the next day as was a 4 hour drive neither of us was capable of doing Shower hose on bath but no hook to use or have a shower curtain. Weird plugs in room The drinks in the bar were extortionate. Double spirits mounting up to 17 odd pound EACH. Food was wetherspoons quality. Cheap sausages and not worth the price. We could of gone somewhere nice for our bill cost near 120 there after a couple drinks each at dinner. I only had a large starter too n sausage and mash for him. Breakfast was ok other then cheap sausages.
Rooms are good but very noisy as there are fuction going on. There is no airconditon and rooms are very hot and had poor ventilation. The aircondtion are out of order since Covid. This should have to mention, when someone is booking accommodation
Breakfast was good and rooms are cleaned
Location was great. Memorabilia in community areas was a nice touch. Staff were friendly. Large spacious room with desk and large bathroom with shower.
No air con. Shower leaked onto bathroom floor and into carpeted bedroom area (an easy solvable issue). Over inflated prices in the bar. Hot food was poor quality.
Easily reached, just aside main access road.
Facilities closed at 21:00 No swimming pool.
The grounds are very pretty, with the stream running through it, and lots of beautiful trees and bushes.
In need of a face lift.... looks run down. I like the fact that it is an older place, but needs to be fixed up.
Price and location
A little bit dated
Helpful staff able to accommodate my special request
Food at restuarant and staff were amazing
Ok glasses in bathroom has toorhpaste residue, bin had ear buds and other rubbish, also there was a hair in the bed and worst was a fire alarm at 4.25 it rang for 6 times my wife suffers from siezures and a nurerogical disorder ans gets very scared at sudden noises something we didnt expect at 4.25 in the morning, my friend also booked same time he paid £38 chearper for same room which is a huge difference we would like feedback and some sorr of good will gesture regards mr silcox
Fijne kamer en prima bedden. Tussen de recensies zie ik een hele negatieve over slechte bedden, maar dat is niet terecht naar mijn mening.
Douchen moet in de badkuip. Persoonlijk niet zo mijn ding.
Very handily placed just off the M27. Enjoyed an evening meal in the Concorde Lounge, with its interesting jazz-themed decoration (and a very good breakfast in the morning, too). The adjacent Lakeside Country Park was nice for an evening stroll. Staff friendly and helpful.
Everything was great. Room good size. Comfortable and clean. Breakfast was amazing. Top quality. Staff were Brilliant. Very helpful and polite. Nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend
Nothing. All good
goed personeel, locatie is geweldig
gedateerd, wifi zeer matig, geen sportfaciliteiten on site
Situated very close to Southampton Airport Parkway and Eastleigh train station, the host a lot of musical events and offer very comfortable, and the staff were helpful and lovely. Amazing breakfast rooms that could probably do with a little more TLC. However, the space was very comfortable.
Furniture and decor needs some updates
Good location for travel easy checking and friendly staff
I wouldn't say a dislike but it's tired hotel.
Very comfortable and clean
Everything was good
Most Excellent.
Nada.
Breakfast was good, hotel location just off M27 was good for our plans
Room needed some tlc, wall light taped up, tape across carpet doorway to bathroom, bath panel also cracked. Dust on wooden headboard, bedside lamps and skirting boards and carpet edge. No hair dryer. Lack of plug sockets, only 2 sockets 1 of which tv was in so as couple had to charge 1 phone at a time. Reception phone not answered in early hours when had issue with noisy room next door
Staff were lovely
Room smelt damp, light left on in bathroom couldn’t turn off disturbed our sleep. Used hair dryer and the TV stopped working. Found drinks quite expensive different prices depending who served you.
The easy location and everything was smooth sailing... I liked the fact that there was a note in the rooms telling you about the quiet periods and to respect others I like the fact that they done this. The staff were lovely restaurant on the premises which was great and the welcome I got in the restaurant was great.. I travel alone most of the time and I said to the receptionist I will be back just to stay a bit longer rarther than having to rush off to catch a train... All I can say is I can't wait to stay again but will be out of season away from people who like to get up at the crack of dawn and bang around their room. The staff.. Hotel food.. Drinks... and room were brilliant.. You are an amazing establishment.
The people in the room next door crashing and banging around at 5.30 am
Loved the food! Staff friendly. Comfortable! I love The Concorde as it oozes love of music.
The property was historic
So comfy, staff friendly and so clean. Great family business and should not change 👍
Proximity to Southampton Airport.
Dusty and tired looking.
Quiet and clean with welcoming tea and coffee supplies in the room. Good bathroom toiletries and above all- decent thick loo rolls that didn’t disintegrate on use! Friendly and helpful staff even though I arrived late evening.
Having to walk outside to the restaurant especially in the rain however once there the breakfast was good.
Comfy bed, good location, great breakfast
Air con didnt work, room not as clean as it could be, lots of cobwebs
Very friendly and efficient staff. Despite what other reviews have said, I actually thought the rooms were well decorated and inviting - bathroom was particularly nice. Everything clean. Plenty of room to park.
As is sometimes the case, the walls between the rooms are thin and you can’t help, but hear your neighbours conversations or their tv’s. Luckily my neighbours went to sleep relatively early but I would recommend earplugs.
Dinner and breakfast were both good. Staff were friendly. Room was clean and quiet
Everything was very dated and old fashioned and needs a revamp. Room smelt a bit musty. Two of the light bulbs on the wall lights weren't working and one of the lamp shades was missing. Bath was so old that the edges were wearing away (although we used the shower which worked OK)
Staff friendly, facillities clean, food nice.
Facillities dated, carpets would benefit from shampoo, room clean but needs to be updated.
Comfortable bed, good sized bath, nice place,
The reception stinks of Smelly wet dog. Spiders webs all over the building and windows.
One of the ladies at reception was very lovely and helpful at check in. As was the lady when I checked out. It makes a big difference when staff are genuinely pleasant, happy and helpful.
Lovely old hotel. Easy access to airport. Friendly staff Quiet area Great restaurant
Nothing. Enjoyed my short stay there.
Staff all very friendly Super breakfast Easy to park Bus stop outside run very frequently
Rooms outdated Dusty carpets all around the edge Fine for one night
The bath was too high to get into
