Great breakfast with lots of options
Noisy fridge
lovely spacious room with a very comfortable bed-breakfast was perfect
Dog friendly
Nothing
The area is fantastic idyllic
The first room we were given was outside the hotel not nice at all we had to bring our bags up a flight of stairs was like an apartment we asked at reception was there an alternative and they got us a room in the hotel which was nice
Comfort and tidyness of the room and environment
No anti slip mat in the shower, hop up waste in sink not working properly shower gel bottles jammed up.
Beautiful location
It was expensive for one nights room only accommodation
Beds beautiful… room cosy… hot water … great shower ….
Grand
Expensive for what it was
Parkeren, ruime kamer
Everything about the place was only perfect, hotel felt cosy and warm and sea just out side ,,what more do u want
Nothing
Location.
Food poor.fish and chips that poor within sight of the north Atlantic. Breakfast....just going through the motions....no marmalade......seriously?
The view was amazing and the food was excellent
I arrived late and still had to wait over an hour for my room,I had asked for an early check in for 1 but it was 4pm before I actually got the key,I find this unacceptable ,when when I eventually did get my room there was several maintenance issues, which I reported to the front desk, electric sockets broken and not working, glass bath screen, overhead bar not secure (this is a major accident waiting to happen) hair dryer broken etc,the other issue i have is staff in the restaurant when you call a member of staff and they see you but still put there head down and walk by you this is bad training for staff in a 4 star hotel, I have worked with the public and we were always told to look straight at the customer and tell them politely that they will be with you shortly, but when when 2 or 3 members of staff ignore you then it gets frustrating, all in all though I loved the hotel, food and views where top of my list, staff training in some areas need looking at ,maintenance is a big issue which needs to be looked at they are all easy fixes and can avoid injury claims in the future, one thing I must say the cleaning staff were exceptionally good at there job place was spotless and they were very polite, they deserve a raise maybe some of the other staff could take a leaf out of there book.all in all I did enjoy my stay and would go back.
Location. Beside the beach
Bed at little bit soft
Great location lovely views
Staff in reception and the bar were not friendly. It took from 245 to 6pm to get checked in. Wedding reception was in the bar and this made seating very scarce. Not very relaxing. Shower in our room needs attention…pool of water At one end.
Location. A large variety of food provided in the self breakfast
Hot food section for breakfast could be hotter and cooked fresh .
Nothing
Way overpriced for a box room not even in the main hotel, the room was beside the smoking area and with a wedding on was not ideal as we were woken every 10 mins till 5am, aswell as the window not fully closing, disaster stay.
Very nice hotel, staff very friendly. Clean and well run
Couldn't see good signpost for the carpark, however the receptionist gave me clear instructions and advice.
We had to check out at 4.00am early due to the hotel being packed out with other guests who were making so much noise we only got 1 hour sleep. My wife is 27 weeks pregnant and was terrified. The guests were acting drunk and made so much noise we had to leave and couldn't sleep. I need a refund!
The noise, the staff weren't friendly and we had to wait for a few minutes for someone to even notice we were at the desk waiting to check in and out. The noise in the hotel and outside hotel was so loud myself and my wife couldn't sleep so had to leave at 4am. My wife was terrified
The nite n Hotel ..very relaxing
There was nothing g to dislike
Location is great
Check in is at 3 and we did not get in until 345pm. If we had been apologised to maybe we would have accepted this but we didn’t. We had a special family party dinner booked for 430pm so it meant less time to get ready
Lovely spacious bedroom. Dinner excellent
The location was fabulous, the food was delicious and the staff were friendly
My only down side is the massage I paid for was about 10 mins shorter than advertised
Everything except breakfast staff were a little rude I thought
Was disappointed to know after booking that children over 3 years old were class as adults as regarding staying payment which I think is a bit ridiculous and bringing my nine year old autistic son.no cancellation excepted Was told a swimming pool in enniscrone...given directions on two times regarding this...so we ventured to find but of no avail only now I have learned we need to into ballina.
Location is perfectly nestled between everything you need in Enniscrone! And the staff were extremely kind & helpful from the moment we booked (answering questions about the rooms and facilities on site) to arrival through to checkout!
I liked the location
I paid €628 for 2 nights but the room was not worth it. Tiles in bathroom were all dirty. Wardrobe space was terrible full of stuff like ironing board, iron hair dryer and a large fan. Had to take everything out to put clothes in. Balcony area the decking was not clean full of small stones. And class above the door was completely shattered. Didn't get in to the room until 4.45 when check in was 3 o'clock and when we got to the room there was rubbish on the floor. Was definitely not worth the money and was so disappointed will never stay again.
Staff were very friendly and helpful
Room very dated, needs freshing up. Definitely not worth what we paid for it
Location
Drinks expensive
Location
Housekeeping wasn’t great - no handsoap in bathroom on arrival Toilet paper was not replaced on day 2 clean Too many dogs
Beautiful location very central
After finding somewhere to park, we were checked in by a very pleasant receptionist. We had dinner in the bar and restaurant and no complaints about the quality of the food or the service. Perhaps a few more options could be offered. Beautiful views from the restaurant, Rooms spacious and clean, but with a very creaky bed. Showers over baths are a pet hate of mine. Very busy hotel. Lots of children running about. Lovely walk along the beach. One of the things that put me off was a dog being sick in the lobby just as we were going in for dinner. Most unpleasant.
I had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel and would happily recommend it to others. Location: Excellent. The hotel is conveniently situated close to local attractions, restaurants, and public transport, making it easy to explore the area. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and relaxing. The staff created a friendly environment that made us feel comfortable throughout our stay. Rooms: The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained. The bed was very comfortable, and everything we needed was provided. Value: The hotel offered excellent value for money. Considering the quality of the accommodation, facilities, and service, I felt the price was very reasonable. Cleanliness: Cleanliness was outstanding. The room and all public areas were spotless and well cared for every day. Noise level: The hotel was pleasantly quiet, allowing for a peaceful night's sleep with very little disturbance from other guests or outside traffic. Service: The service was excellent from check-in to check-out. Every member of staff was professional, helpful, and always willing to assist with any questions or requests. Amenities: The hotel had a great selection of amenities, all of which were well maintained and added to the overall comfort and enjoyment of the stay. YOu got to try the Spa area. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would not hesitate to stay here again. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean, and welcoming place to stay.
The whole experience was wonderful from reception to the room The view was stunning. The food was fabulous the decor for the wedding was class as was the music.
I gave a very low score to staff however it's staff training I have the grievance about I asked for a pint of Coors which is normally served with a high head. The pint was poured with a high head when the young server proceeded to wipe the head off the pint with her bare hand. Training would surely correct this otherwise the other staff were brilliant top class.
Overall- not the best experience Location - lovely Atmosphere- alright Rooms - (was in 104) - good space. Very warm and couldn’t get air conditioning working. Shower was okay, went hot and cold, in a very slippery small skinny bath, which water leaked out on the floor. Horrible to shower. Restaurant- took short of 2 hours to get through just start and main course. To start with the main was bought out before the starter, sent it back then the starter came out, once it was done, took over 45 minutes for the mains to come only after us asking. then order dessert and it took over half an hour to come. Cleanliness- all was fairly clean Spa - went to book a massage but had no availability, so they offered us a session with the thermo spa. Big let down.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share our experience. We stayed at the Ocean Sands Hotel while attending a family wedding nearby. Unfortunately, the hotel fell far below the standard we expected from a four-star hotel. We found cleanliness to be poor, particularly in the dog-friendly areas, where the artificial grass was being used as a toilet and did not appear to be adequately cleaned. The overall impression was one of neglect rather than care. The food was also extremely disappointing. As guests of a four-star hotel, we expected food of a much higher quality. Unfortunately, the meals we received fell well short of that standard. The fish and chips, in particular, were inedible and had to be left, making for a very disappointing dining experience. The one shining light throughout our stay was the staff. Every member of staff we encountered was warm, welcoming, professional and genuinely helpful. In all my years of staying in hotels, they were among the best hotel staff I have come across. It is such a pity that their dedication and kindness are let down by the standards of the hotel itself. What was most disappointing, however, was the complete lack of customer service afterwards. Before posting this review, I wrote directly to the hotel to outline my concerns and give management the opportunity to respond. I received no acknowledgement or reply. The wedding itself was wonderful, but that was thanks to the venue where it was held, not our hotel stay. It is unfortunate that what should have been a happy family occasion was overshadowed by such a disappointing accommodation experience. Based on our experience, we would not return and cannot recommend the Ocean Sands Hotel.
I stayed in this hotel last night and had a very disappointing experience due to lack of hygiene and cleanliness.Upon arrival I was given a garden room as I payed extra for a balcony and sea view. The minute I walked in the room I was hit by a strong ,dirty stomach wrenching smell that reminded me of a wet dog.The carpet was filthy with spots and stains.I asked for a cleaner to come and deal with it which shouldn’t have been necessary. She left us with a can of room scent and even at that the smell lingered to the extent we had to leave balcony door open for fresh air and could not sleep properly all night .Checked out early this morning after very little sleep.Overall the hygiene and cleanliness of the room was completely unacceptable and I would not recommend this hotel unless management make serious improvements to cleanliness and guest care.
Location by the beach, great views, separate spacious Apartment. We are grateful that we got paid back our money after having to leave early.
Very noisy fun fair right in front of the hotel with very loud music so you couldn’t enjoy the apartment, Dirty apartment, dirty breakfast room and dirty dishes. Staff friendly but slow or didn’t follow up on requests.
The air conditioning wasnt working in the room, called porter at 1.30am and he confirmed that it wasnt working . No other rooms available so had to make do with plugin fans . Not ideal .
Ac not working was main issue
We went here for dinner with our mother who has been visiting Enniscrone for years. We asked for window seat which we got. We were very disappointed with the food. All dishes were warm not warm enough and definitely not hot. 2 of us ordered chicken stir fry. It was over cooked and nothing seemed fresh. We sent it back and one of us asked for a starter instead. This also came only warm and wasnt nice. We received our bill with the 2 chicken stir-fry on it as well as the starter. No one came to apologise. We questioned the bill and received one meal free. So very disappointing and no apology given. Won't be back
Molly at Reception was just lovely and very efficient in fact all the ladies were wonderful and great reps for the business
I recently spent a lovely two night mid week breakaway in the Ocean Sands Hotel with my granddaughter. The staff were excellent in very department and were extremely welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay. We eat in the restaurant on both nights and enjoyed the food and the view out to the sea while dining. We also enjoyed the entertainment put on on the bar on both evenings. We had a seaview room which was large, spacious spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Overall we really enjoyed our stay in the hotel it was great value for money and hopefully we will return again soon .
The room was extremely hot when I arrived in it. The radiator was actually luke warm. The bathroom could have been cleaner. I arrived just before 9 no food available.
Beautiful hotel right on the beach with a free car park out the back , staff were friendly and food was delicious
Nothing
Came for our niece's wedding July 4th . The hotel which is near the beach is lovely well kept hotel, the apartment we were in was very spacious and over looking the beach and lovely place to sleep very warm and comfortable. Now for the day all the staff did a fantastic job warm helpful and couldn't do enough for everyone even the kids we're looked after, the food was on point very tasty, my only criticism was the cod had some bones in it but apart from that all good thank you all very much for all your hard work
Poor WiFi in a room.. windows is bit dirt.. The hotel is excellent.
Love this hotel.
Centrally located - just perfect
WIFI - Never had a good experience with the WIFI at Ocean Sands.
The location is great! The room was beautiful, staff at breakfast were lovely. We were given a fantastic welcome which we really appreciated. The restaurant in the hotel was fantastic.
Housekeeping was inconsistent and very slow to take dirty plates from room, our fridge was set to -6 and the waters kept freezing. Construction took place at 8:20am on our last morning in the hotel.
Dog friendly and beside the beach.
That breakfast is down a level from the lobby and you’re expected to carry it up on a tray to the lobby when it is dog friendly. This isn’t feasible for everyone, it should be served on the same floor as the other meals.
Location was very good Staff were very pleasant
Room was difficult to keep cool - garden room with balcony was lovely but on a hot day the air conditioning unit was not adequate
Beautiful dog friendly hotel in a stunning location, literally right on the beach. Staff were all so warm and friendly. We stayed in a dog friendly apartment which was lovely and spacious and had an enclosed patio garden which my dog loved. Lovely vibe in the hotel, we ate and had drinks in the lobby area, food and cocktails were beautiful and good value. I treated myself to a lovely massage in the spa the following morning which was 10/10! Highly recommend and we can’t wait to go back again soon.
Fabulous hotel & facilities, beach & walks amazing .l would definitely visit again .
I wouldn't normally write a review like this, but I feel I have a responsibility to warn other travellers. I originally booked an apartment with my family which was so inadequate — cramped, dirty, and with no hot water — that we had no choice but to relocate. I ended up paying £450 for two nights in a "garden room," which turned out to be no better. The room was filthy. There was hair all over the bed sheets, dust and dirt throughout, flies roaming freely, and spiders. This is not the standard anyone should accept, let alone pay £450 for. The issues didn't stop there. The shower door handle fell off completely. There was an ironing board in the room but no iron. The hairdryer didn't work. Most concerningly, the peephole in the room door had no cover whatsoever — meaning anyone walking past could look straight in. I had to cover it with tape myself for basic privacy and security. The "garden room" is essentially a partition rather than a proper walled room — you can hear every sound from the entire block. Sleep was virtually impossible. These photos speak for themselves.
The bedroom and ensuite were a great size. The accommodation was immaculate. The beach view was incredible and the bed was very comfortable.
There was only one issue and that was with the shower. The bathroom facilities were second to none but the water power was dreadful. This needs to be addressed. There were 2 staircases down to my room. For me this was not an issue but for someone with mobility issues, this would certainly pose a problem.
Breakfast was good
I booked a family room but got a double instead
Location is wonderful right on the stunning beach lovely staff great food 👌🥰
Nothing
Our group of 90 cyclists arrived in the Ocean Sands over a period of c. 6 hours having cycled over 300K and were met with perfect “hungry cyclist” dinner. Joanne and team really understood our needs and their efforts gave us a seamless and very enjoyable experience.
Went for dinner to celebrate my grandmothers 85th birthday with a large group of family. Excellent service, nice food and lovely atmosphere. All the staff are great. Special shoutout to Ciara in reception and the manager Clive, both very warm, accommodating and helpful which really made our experience extra special.😁
Relaxed atmosphere, staff very friendly and the massage at the spa was fantastic!
Nothing to dislike!
Room much too warm
Breakfast was good but the outlay was a little confusing
I am disabled and didn't realise I had to leave the hotel building to get to my apartment
Receptionist was so lovely & helpful We had dinner in the evening .Food & service was exceptional..Room was very comfortable, nicely decorated with sea view which we were pleasantly upgraded to on arrival.
Loved all about our stay here
Location, relaxing, nice dinner, people with dog 🐶
We loved everything. Great value of money.
Really enjoyed the whole experience - it isn't 5 star but is was clean friendly and in a super location - the rooms have had a superb makeover with a view to die for - the lift could be quicker lol but relaxing is the name of the game. The food and service were very good and we all really enjoyed our stay - I believe they will now clean the windows in the apartment as it was a bit of a downer - it didn't deter our enjoyment all the same. Really central for other pubs and restaurants should you wish to visit them. Enjoy it - we did .
That it is right in the middle of the town
It’s so expensive
The location was excellent lovely view from the very clean well equipped room . The staff were friendly and helpful we had a very relaxing stay
Very Limited choice of dairy free food or vegan options, no dairy free dessert at all so my daughter who is intolerant to dairy was very disappointed
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The location was excellent and made it easy to explore the surrounding area. The décor throughout the hotel was beautiful and created a welcoming atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, and we were very impressed with the quality of the meals during our stay. We also really enjoyed the spa facilities. In particular, the therapist who looked after us was excellent and made our experience especially enjoyable. The salt therapy room was a lovely addition and provided a relaxing experience. Overall, we had a wonderful stay.
On a number of occasions, staff appeared unfamiliar with the products and services they were responsible for. For example, when I asked whether any craft beers were available, I was simply told they had Heineken. When we had questions about the food menu, staff seemed unsure of the dishes and had to read through the menu in front of us to answer. Similarly, at the end of the evening, I asked for a whiskey menu after noticing the impressive whiskey selection behind the bar. The barman searched for a menu but was unable to find one and eventually returned with a cocktail menu, saying it was the closest thing he had. As a result, I had to ask individually about the available whiskeys and their prices. We were also disappointed with the accommodation itself. The rooms were located separately from the main hotel and had more of a student accommodation feel than that of a luxury hotel. There was a noticeable smell in the area where dogs were accommodated, which was off-putting. In addition, the soundproofing was poor, and we could hear noise both from outside and from within the building. The hotel has clearly invested significantly in its décor, which is absolutely beautiful and creates a striking first impression. However, we felt that a greater investment in staff training and guest experience would make a substantial difference and help the service match the quality of the surroundings.
Location and comfy bed.
Late check in and still not ready at check in time of 3pm
