Place is amazing. Rafa is a total gentleman. A must stay. It will be the highlight of your trip.
Location is good but not great. 1km walk to center which we enjoyed but may not be for everybody. You can always do Uber or cab. We had a car. Great safe parking.
Beautiful hotel with wonderful owners. Great value too and close to the main attractions.

Furnishings and art were unique and wonderful. The host was helpful and so friendly. The building has been restored beautifully.
A beautiful wreath condition home
Absolutely decorated beautifully
An absolutely beautiful property! Gracious hosts, quiet and peaceful. Any questions we had were promptly answered….
Everything!!
Nothing!!
Rafa was a very good host. The property was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Highly recommended!
This is a unique and exceptional property, if you don't mind a 15-minute walk into the town center. It is quiet, beautifully appointed and felt very safe and secure. Highly recommend.
This is one of the nicest places I've ever stayed! It was exceptionally beautiful, peaceful and comfortable. The location was perfect with a relatively flat walking distance to Centro. I'm so glad that I read the other stellar reviews and chose to stay at Sanbernabe Tres. Rafael, the owner, was overly accommodating which was greatly appreciated. I was relieved that he spoke more English than I could speak Spanish so we were able to communicate. All in all I hope to return sometime in the future and stay once again at Sanernabe Tres!
Gorgeous hotel and room; free upgrade
Slightly out of town location but okay. Still walkable
Incredible experience
Overall love the decor, people and there’s breakfast in the morning. Feels very homey. I’m glad I bought my family there!
One of our room had no place to sit beside two chairs. Was on the smaller side.
This is a beautiful house, filled with art, books, dishes, and furniture. Coming at Christmas was a bonus - it's nicely decorated. But the best thing about San Bernabe are the hosts and staff. Rafa and his wife are perfect hosts, and they are always available to answer a question or help book a driver, etc.
I would have loved to see a full warm breakfast provided, and I think all the guests would agree (and perhaps be willing to pay a bit more).
An exceptional colonial house with striking furnishings. A real gem. The property was spotless, with daily maid service. The hosts were exceptionally gracious and helpful. The hacienda is just on the edge of town, in a very quiet, safe, and peaceful neighborhood.
Nothing.
Most beautiful place we have ever stayed! And it’s close to the centro (10 minutes walking). But absolutely quiet, which is a huge plus in Guanajuato! Staying in the Centro I cannot recommend!
Beautifully decorated old house away from the noise of the center but an easy walk to it. Large comfortable bed in a room with everything provided. Continental breakfast too. A jacuzzi is being added to the garden.
Loved everything about this place! I was traveling with 2 other women for Cervantino. We chose Sanbernabe Tres because of the great reviews and the beautiful photos of the rooms. It turns out that everything was correct. This boutique hotel is perfect! Our host Rafael was incredibly helpful and accommodating. We arrived early and our rooms were ready. Late checkout was accommodated as well. Rafael helped us reserve taxis, recommended places for us to eat multiple times, and made dinner reservations for us. It’s obvious that restoring this old house, which used to house his mother’s school for teachers, is a passion for him. It shows in all the details; when we arrived, he gave us an extensive tour including our room options (each so unique that it was difficult to choose who slept where!), and took us thru the library and dining room, as well as the garden, which is currently being renovated. Our ginormous rooms offered tons of storage as well. The hotel is a bit out of town, and we are not fast walkers, so we would walk into the Center and Uber back in the evenings. Cervantino is incredibly crowded and we really appreciated the quiet our hotel offered. Staying at Sanbernabe Tres was a great and memorable experience, and all 3 of us highly recommend it.
I wouldn’t chance a thing!
The house is grand and beautifully decorated by Rafa whose hospitality is impeccable. If we ever make it to Guanajato again, it’s a no brainer to stay here again.
All was excellent, no complaints.

Beautiful hotel and very friendly owner. Only a 15 minute safe walk to the Teatro Juárez and the main activities.
Spacious, comfortable room. Allowed our little dog to join us. Incredibly friendly staff. Complimentary continental breakfast.
The outdoor space was out of commission but it will be beautiful once it’s complete.
A surprisingly delightful stay—it feels like stepping into a movie scene. The place resembles a museum, exquisitely decorated with porcelain, ornaments, paintings and oriental-style artifacts. It is very tranquil at night. The owner is kind and gentle and everyone there is friendly. Everything in this "castle" is well-equipped and comfortable—air conditioning, refrigerator, water dispenser, tableware, milk, and more. Having access to hot water was truly wonderful. It's about fifteen-minute walk to the attractions. The only regret was that we had to leave early in the morning and missed breakfast—though it looked good:)
We liked the quiet location and the beautiful historic house. The host was very gracious and everything was in order. A simple breakfast was available with coffee, fruits and mexican sweet breads. We booked a large room and although there is no AC, two fans were in the room if needed. It was an easy 15 to 20 minute downhill walk to the historic center and we took a taxi back.
The two things I would like to see in the future, is to have a firm pillow available for sleeping, and also a more comfortable chair to relax in.
The whole place is absolutely stunning. We enjoyed our stay and everyone went above and beyond to take care of us. The decor was amazing with so many special details. Absolutely beautiful!
The property is spacious, artsy, and has so much charme. Rafa the owner is so friendly and helpful. It’s a great location about 10 minute walk to the city center. Huge room with separate bath room, super comfy and big bed, complimentary water, and absolutely clean. Fair price compared to other hotels in the area, happy to pay a little extra for some peace, quietness, and space.
The only thing for some to know is that it doesn’t have A/C but comes with floor fans. Loved everything else!
San Bernabé Tres is a jewel. A gorgeous colonial home, with a garden and small dining area. The hosts, Rafael and Veronica are a very gracious, well-educated couple, who truly go out of their way to make your stay memorable.
The property is a bit far from the center of town (about a mile to Plaza de la Paz).
Location , the home, the appearance, the details, Furniture, library, kitchen was beautiful
Not sure why anyone in the reviews has not mentioned made this comment but The strong smell coming from the bathroom pips made my eyes water like I’ve never seen. Very strong gases. and also, when you usually stay at a B&B, it usually means a full breakfast instead of a continental.
Sanbernabé Tres is truly magical. The details, the colors, the textures- it’s clear Rafa and his wife have poured their hearts into each space and the result is one of the most special places I’ve ever stayed. And I’ve stayed in many special places! :) The location is a quiet neighborhood about a 15 minute walk to centro. It’s a lovely walk and well worth it to stay in such a beautiful home.
The facilities were superb. A wonderful example of Mexican art and culture. I loved the distance from the noisy downtown that for us was a nice 10 minute interesting walk. When we visit Guanajuato next time, we'll stay here again.
We loved our stay here. You basically have a room in a colonial mansion with lovely art work and decor. We didn’t use all the facilities as we were out exploring much of the time, but a living room and dining room were available for our use. We did use the shared kitchen, which was like a commercial kitchen. Continental breakfast was included and coffee and tea and pastries were available throughout the day. The room was cleaned daily which was nice and laundry was available for an extra charge. Very quiet location. It is about a 15-20 minute walk to the historic Center.
Good location, quiet. The interior is beautiful and has an excellent ambiance. It is something to see for sure.
Everything!! Such a beautiful, comfortable, quiet, well located, well appointed home. So many special touches, and Rafa and his wife were wonderfully accommodating and warm as always. We look forward to our next stay :)

Exceptional historical building, very tastefully equipped with antique furniture. Beautiful, big rooms and bathroom with everything you need. The owner family is very helpful and friendly. Very quiet location although only 15min walk to the historical centre. Very rich and tasteful breakfast.
Nothing, everything was perfect.
Absolutely beautiful historic home .. beautifully and tastefully refurbished respecting all historical details . The owner Rafael and his wife are very accommodating and the home ( mansion ?)feels warm and welcoming . We loved the Sirena room with the fireplace , we felt as if we were in a hacienda . Rafael kindly showed us all of the rooms as well as the whole house and every room is special . Would be a wonderful stay for a group of/ wedding ..-also I’d like to mention that being an older home with antiques .. it has none of the mustiness that can accompany the latter and the bedding and sheets felt luxurious . We found it to be a wonderful value as well . We were there for the Cervantino and it’s about a 15/20 minute walk to the center of town where all the action takes place . We enjoyed being in this neighborhood called Pastita , it’s more residential and calm( except for the nocturnal barking dogs so common in Mexico ) . Rafael is also working on restoring a beautiful comunal patio area and when that is complete it should be even more wonderful a stay . It was very convenient to have water and juice and coffee with pastries / toast / fruit available for a quick and simple preparation for a day out exploring the fascinating city of Guanajuato. Thank you !
A beautiful home full of art, books, music and serenity.

Excellent
Everything was good
It’s quaint uniqueness. A beautiful diamond hidden in this charming city. Such attention to the smallest details! The innkeeper’s were very helpful and accommodating. The pride of their establishment shown in their faces as they showed us through the property.
Absolutely nothing
It felt like an invitation to a home stay and the experience itself was an extension of visiting Guanajarto, gaining insights of how locals live. Rafa and Veronika plus their team are greatest hosts, and we can see so much love built into their tasteful home with further projects to come. The house has a lot of colors and art works, almost like living in a museum. We felt rested, welcomed and inspired!
Nothing really. Some commented about a lack of breakfast, but there are simple toast and fruits plus juice and coffee to start the day. Its easy to grab hot meals in town if needed, not a problem at all.
It was more like staying in a very nice house rather than a hotel. The decoration in the rooms was very well done and it was nice to have access to the lounge / living room area. Definitely something special and not like your ordinary hotel experience. Breakfast was just continental but was more than sufficient for us with a selection of sweet rolls, bread for toast, fruits, juice and tea/coffee. The location is about a 15 min walk from the main downtown, but we didn't find this to be a problem and it was actually rather nice to be away from all the hubbub. Although the town is quite hilly, the walk from the hotel was quite flat.
Bathroom was a little dated and we could never get the volume to work on our TV, but these were minor issues.
this was the best accomodation we stayed in across mexico -just great !
Amazing place! Owner has its own taste to decorate this historic building
Everything is gorgeous.
The owners have restored the building with incredible taste and care. Rafael is a retired architect; he and his wife have an amazing eye for traditional elegant Mexican styles. The attention to detail is astounding. The beds are firm but comfortable, pillows soft. Great TV cable, yummy fresh sweet breads juice and coffee etc at a help-yourself breakfast buffet…Unending bottles of water on hand. I found looking around my room more satisfying than any of the museums in town. The hosts are kind, generous, sophisticated people in the best tradition.
I personally found the walk to town a bit of a chore. The temperature was in the low 90’s each day’ and the altitude is 6700 feet. Compounding that, most of the way is narrow and busy; diesel fumes abound. With full disclosure; I am 68 and chubby. Air conditioning is required for me. One room is so equipped, I was very comfortable in it.
Amazing hosts, super helpful and friendly. Beautiful house, great amenities, quiet area, yet short walk to centro.
The house is absolutely beautiful - full of art and interesting architectural details. Our room was exceptional -- very large with a king-sized bed, and beautiful antique furniture and a very well appointed bathroom. A continental breakfast was served each day--various sweet rolls with fresh fruit and self-serve coffee and tea which was more than enough for us.
The only issue was the Wi-Fi, although we were able to solve it with the help of Rafael. Because the house has very thick walls, he has installed several routers with separate Wi-Fi addresses but we were able find a couple that worked well for our location in the house. Also, the lighting was a bit dim--could use better reading lights on each side of the bed. Be aware that it's about a 15 min walk to town.
Their willingness to cancel our reservation for two nights and not charge us for the one night we endured.
The information about this hotel on the Bookings site about this hotel is highly misleading. The room we booked and stayed (Deluxe Queen) in was listed to be 425 square feet. It was about half that size. While we expected a very spacious room from the listing, the room was very cramped and tiny with almost no natural light. They offered to move us to another small room the second night. That room was not ensuite as indicated in their listing but required going down a common hall, The location also very poor. Staying in the center is a far better option.
Lovely hosts, incredibly comfy bed, great water pressure and heat in the shower, beautifully decorated and cozy, quiet, and only a 15 minute walk to the center. Even our dog was incredibly relaxed here 😁 we can’t wait to come back!
Nada
This place has been lovingly restored by the owners. The good taste and attention to detail is amazing. Aside from the beauty of the place, it's a great location, the beds are comfy and the showers are hot. And they serve pastries and fruit with coffee and juice each morning.
Nothing to complain about. Everything was great.
Beautiful property, exceptional owners. They “opened” their house to us. Very clean, comfortable rooms!!
The house is beautiful, decorated in Mexican style, we loved all the antiques and tasteful details, our hosts were amazing, very friendly, the owner, Rafael, gave us a tour of the house, that he restored. The location is great, quiet, safe, and close enought to walk to downtown. The bed was so comfortable, big fluffy bath towels, you can have a light breakfast (fruit, tea, coffee, bread) in the morning and relax at the garden after a long day of exploring, if you want an amazing experience, stay at San Bernabe Tres!
We didn't dislike anything. We were lucky to have been able to stay there.
Such a wonderful place to stay in Guanajuato! The room and the property is beautiful and comfortable. The location is safe and peaceful and the owners are such a kind and generous couple. Thank you so much for having me :)
Amazing place! This will be my top 10 in the world I have been. Atmosphere, host, interior, light games in the room. Comfortable bed, history and details. My top 1 in Mexico.
Beautiful home and great place to stay visiting Guanajuato!
Not worth mentioning.
Beautiful house with lovely furnishings. Very comfortable and quiet but also elegant and interesting. Friendly helpful host.
Nothing
The property was exceptional, richly decorated.
Breakfast could be better but courtesy coffee was excellent.
EVERYTHING….. It was designed by the owner, a retired architect, and full of beautiful and interesting personal touches. Beds were comfortable, lovely garden, well equipped bathroom, quiet neighborhood.
Beautiful boutique hotel with clean luxurious rooms and comfortable beds. The decor is tastefully done and the neighborhood feels safe and quiet.
The house is a treasure of interesting, beautiful art--some traditional and some modern. It's also very comfortable. The host, Rafa, is attentive and kind.
We enjoyed everything.
Such a lovely space beautiful cared for and restored. Friendly helpful staff. We will plan to stay again. Hopefully soon!
.
The property is beautiful. So unique and different than other hotels. Quiet location. Friendly owner.
It’s a bit of a walk to el centro. It’s a good thing because it’s quiet but at the end of a long day it feels far.
Exquisite boutique hotel - only 6 rooms. The hotel is even more beautiful than the pictures indicate. We couldn’t recommend this place more highly. Rafael was an exceptional host; kind, considerate and courteous.
Nothing- everything was perfect.
Rafa the host welcomed us warmly. The B&B is on a small quiet streat
Lighting was low
