Casa Zuniga Extended Stay

The B&B is in a fabulous location, with a great view of the town, balconies, and easy access to a funicular. The hosts were very friendly and very helpful, cooking an amazing breakfast each morning and pointing us to really wonderful tour guides. They clearly enjoy the role of hosting and making guests comfortable. The property was very clean, with beds remade daily and water refilled in every room.

We were there in the single hottest month of the year and our room got warm. The hosts very graciously moved us to a cooler room when we asked.

The breakfast was amazing. Different each morning. Something to look forward to. Also great to have breakfast with the owners, Billy and Ari. They were great hosts, and we were able to ask them any questions. We would definitely go back!

Some of the steps on the way to our bedroom could be better highlighted, maybe with yellow tape or something to prevent tripping or any misteps.

Amazing location above the city, easily accessible by the funicular right beside it. The views are fantastic and it’s an incredibly interesting place to stay. It was designed by the owners’ late father who used his engineering skills to create what almost feels like a museum. Billy and Ari are super hosts who make a really nice connection with their guests. The breakfasts vary each day and are delicious. They provide lists of places to visit and things to do, along with a list of recommended restaurants. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything you could want, and there’s also a lap pool. Staying here is a unique experience and well worth it.

Our stay at Casa Zuniga was excellent in every aspect. It’s located above the city with a spectacular view of the town- the city lights at night was such a treat. Our rooms were large, private balcony, comfortable bed, hot shower and immaculate. Can’t say enough about the absolutely delicious breakfast! Our hosts were very attentive and helpful- and provided needed recommendations for a tour guide, places to see and restaurant recommendations. We definitely will return when visiting beautiful Guanajuato!

AMAZING place! I loved my visit here. Ari, Billy, and Carmelita were so kind and made my stay so easy. The entire place is a mini museum with amazing metal artwork done by Ari’s father/Carmelita’s husband Rick, an artist of real talent. Beautiful painted murals depict the history of Guanajuato, and Billy’s verbal history brings the murals alive. The breakfast is delicious, authentic, and fresh. I loved the location at the top of the hill, so much fun to ride the funicular there, and so much quieter than the center of the city. Highly recommend Casa Zuniga and its wonderful hosts.

Ari and Billy (the owners) were SUPER communicative leading up to our check-in, met our taxi when we arrived and were so helpful and kind during our entire stay. The house/hotel is incredible, breakfast homemade and delicious. Rooms are spacious (try to get one with a balcony and view!) clean and comfortable. I will recommend Zuniga to everyone going to Guanajuato.

Five star!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I have stayed at B&B’s throughout Mexico and this was one of the most beautiful and architecturally interesting ones ever. Original sculpture, murals, and tile work throughout. A visual feast around every corner. The hosts Billy and Ari were the BEST. Casa Zuniga is in itself is an education in Mexican Colonial history through its murals. Huge lap swimming pool. Incredible views. Luxurious rooms. Incredible breakfast. I could not have asked or hoped for more.

The breakfasts were absolutely delicious! We looked forward to having breakfast along with positive conversations with the other guests staying at the BnB. Billy was a cordial host and quite helpful with tips regarding navigating Guanajuato.

Steps down to the BnB and Centro were being improved thus short parts of the stairs were treacherous. It was anticipated the improvement would be completed soon. The host and his staff helped us with our baggage which we greatly appreciated.

We have stayed at the bed and breakfast many times over the years and return periodically as the owners and staff are amazing.

Casa Zuniga is a uniquely beautiful place, full of original art made by the owner’s dad. It is a sprawling property with lots of space, privacy, lovely terraces with amazing views, and even a lap pool! Ari and Billy roll out the red carpet for their guests. They will do whatever they can to make your trip special. Ari’s breakfasts are amazing, different every day, and always delicious. They have great recs, are warm and welcoming, and make you feel right at home in their beautiful city of Guanajuato.

Literally the only less than perfect thing is the chilly shower, and even that you could just call refreshing.. :)

シャワーがなかなかお湯にならず(事前に言われていました)、また、丘の上という立地上しかたないのでしょうが、水の出が弱かったので、きちんとシャワーを浴びられなかったのが、唯一の難点です。

Billy gave me an incredible welcome upon arrival, it was such a shame I only had 1 night in Guanajuato so it was a very short stay! I had the best breakfast ever there - so fresh, healthy and home made - the energy was so nice overall in the hotel and the room was clean, it was evident that every smallest detail has been paid attention and the view in the room was just incredible - looking over the city! This would be a place I would go back anytime! Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Casa Zuniga is perched on the hill very close to the funicular and has spectacular views. The grounds have beautiful plantings, quirky details and lots of common space to hang out. Ari and Billy were extremely welcoming and their recommendations were all spot on. I loved wandering through the scenic town, taking the handy funicular down the hill, meeting other guests at breakfast and taking in the views.

The warm atmosphere Billy and Ari cultivated made it easy to feel like part of a bigger family. On top of that, the hosts provided us with personal guidance on sightseeing and activities. They didn’t just point us in the direction of popular tourist spots—they took the time to understand our interests and recommended hidden gems that we would have never discovered on our own. The 10 ride funicular card helps with getting up and down the hill, but we often walked up or down and enjoyed the wall murals. The level of hospitality was truly next-level. Ask Aari to share her cooking expertise with you. We will be back, my daughter already booked her stay for July as she will be attending language school nearby and Ari and Billy already invited her back.

The pool was like a hot green house, we did not use, but we did see it attended to and cleaned professionally several times during our stay. I did need more room to showcase this amazing place but sadly I ran out of room ;(

Casa Zuniga is a beautiful space! The rooms are spacious with spectacular views of the city. There are also many common areas to enjoy the house from, and the shared breakfasts with the other guests were always such a treat. The location is also super convenient being right next to the Funicular. Billy, Ari, and Carmen were wonderful hosts and we can’t wait to come back and call this our home.

It is a beautiful house with wonderful view and very helpful hosts who meet you and help you with the luggage. The host even makes an interesting hike with history and geology explanations.

The breakfast was home cooked and delicious. The views are amazing. We stayed in room "Max" with a king bed and private patio. Billy and Ari are excellent hosts. I highly recommend this place.

What did I like ? Absolutely everything. The location was amazing. Wonderful views over the city. My room was splendid. Spacious, spotless and comfortable. The hosts? I only met Billy on introduction when he showed me around their Wonderful space. If you like art and quirky? You are going to love this. He couldn't do enough to make sure I was going to be comfortable. Ira , I met before breakfast. You can get fresh coffee as early as 7 am . It was like talking with a long time friend . I Absolutely adored her. A great sense of humour, very intelligent and nothing for breakfast was too much trouble. She makes the most amazing breakfast I must add. Her pancakes are to die for . She made plenty and my eyes wanted to eat more but my stomach is saying no, you eat too much lol. Her eggs are divine too! She certainly cooks with love . When I come back I plan on staying longer and will most definitely Absolutely stay here . Just a wonderful homely feel and I couldn't have asked for more. This was probably the coolest most unique stay I've had in recent memory. The property had fantastic reviews and still, it far exceeded my expectations! The B&B was so uniquely built and had so much art and sculptures it's in my top 3 museums i saw in Guanajuato! The hosts go above and beyond to make guests feel at home, from greeting you upon arrival, making sure you have all info needed to best enjoy the incredible city of Guanajuato to the absolutely lovely breakfasts they prepare every morning. I can't say enough positive things about my stay at Casa Zuniga. The view from the property is exceptional. I've struggled with sleep my entire life, however I got some of the best nights rest at this property. It's magical. The rooms are spacious, and quiet. I loved how even the bathroom water is filtered. Can't recommend Casa Zuniga enough.

There's nothing I would change about my stay, and can't think of anything I could critique. I felt like I was staying with family at Casa Zuniga. I can't wait to come back to Guanajuato and when I do, I'm staying here at Casa Zuniga!

We really enjoyed our stay. Billy and Ari are wonderful hosts, greeting our cab when it arrived, giving us a tour of the property. It's a little funky in a wonderful way, on a steep hillside above the city, which gives you incredible views of the whole city below you. You can take the funicular up or down to the historic center - we walked down the many steps and took the funicular back up. Breakfast is wonderful and family style, with all the guests at one table, so you can meet people and hear about their current adventures. The bedroom was really large, and the bed comfortable.

Not much negative to say. The bathroom set up is a little funky, with older pipes, the hot water coming and going - it was hard to find a setting where the shower temperature was constant. But I spoke to a friend who is staying in GTO for several months and he said that was typical. Not nearly enough of an issue to affect our overall good experience

The sunsets on the balcony were stunning and the hosts were outstandingly friendly and accommodating.

Casa Zuniga was amazing. It was like staying in an eclectic art gallery. Everywhere you wandered you saw something beautiful and creative. Billy, Ari, and all the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast everyday was delicious and satisfying. We hope to return someday and explore even more of the area.

We loved our stay at Casa Z and the amazing staff and art filled motifs and designs. The casa has the best view of Guanajuato. The house was built and designed by the owner, a metalurgist by trade. Every detail is a work of art and fun. Billy and staff are a wealth of knowledge and make you feel like family. They provide lists of restaurants, sites, etc. Breakfast is home-made and delish. Property was clean, comfortable, and very well located close to the center of town and the Funicular. Hosts and staff were very nice and helpful in making the trip as enjoyable for us as possible.

The owners greeted us at the street and are friendly, engaging and gave us a nice tour without being too much. The view is beautiful! The bed was comfortable and all amenities wonderful. What I didn’t like simply needs travel aides.

We were overnight on a summer Friday and the sound from the city below (mariachi, bars, dogs, roosters at 4 am) was hard to fall asleep and stay asleep to (I forgot earplugs in my travels this time). I was also sad to have forgotten my eye mask because the night sky was very bright even with closed curtains. Cross ventilation in the room was poor so we needed to at least have the one window open. Sorry to say I slept very poorly due to the above reasons!

Casa Zuniga is beautiful and the owners are warm and welcoming. It was a perfect starting point for the trip to Guanajuato.

The hosts and staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable. On a hill overlooking the city, the view was incredible. The property and the rooms were spacious and well appointed. The creator of the property was an artist and the entire property feels like a museum/art gallery depicting the history of the revolution for Mexican independence from Spain.

I couldn’t figure out how to work the TV but that was probably just my own technical limitations.

Such a quirky and unusual place. We loved the decor and the size and the vista above the town. Riding to and fro to the centre was a hoot. Any needs were met speedily and with good grace and both Ari and Billy are fun to engage with.

Breakfast time could have been a little earlier. Some of us are not on Mexican time.

I absolutely loved the view from my balcony. The hosts were courteous and kind, Billy kindly offered to help with our laundry which was very kind of him. Gorgeous and sunny plant filled outside areas.

The property is really quirky and as no one else was staying it felt a little gloomy inside, I’m sure it’s a very different atmosphere when full. Be warned that the pool has been covered and is like a greenhouse… not great for cooling off on a hot afternoon!

We had a wonderful 7 days in Guanajuato and Casa Zuniga was the perfect place to be. Incredible balcony view, nice big room, beautiful breakfasts! Rick offerred a private historic tour we will never forget. Billie took us hiking up into the hills. Zuniga is a great place to stay if you want an experience out of the ordinary.

Staying at Casa Zuniga is like experiencing a slow motion, at one's own pace, sensory kaleidoscope. It wonderfully mirrors its hillside Guanajuato setting (eclectic, vibrant and colorful). Kudos to Rick and Team Zuniga for their warmth and wisdom that well complimented/helped my stay (and Ari and Jimmy for nearby hiking tips). A cozy sleep, great breakfast to fuel a day's exploration of the city and back up for the panoramic late afternoon/sunset view. Then down or around for dinner and sights in the city center.

Hard to find despite instructions from the owner. The property and parking lot are above the town, not below like we thought.

Rick and Carmen were fabulous hosts. The breakfast was muy sabroso and substantial. No reason to eat again till dinner. The property was a work of art - everywhere you turned there was a piece that Rick had made. Billy, Rick’s son in law took guests on a great morning hike complete with historical notes and a group of us went with Billy and Ari (Rick & Carmen’s daughter) to watch the Super Bowl. We were made to feel like part of the family. Oh and the views from the portal were amazing.

Much of Guanajuato is on the hillside(s) and accessible only by stairs and the b&b is no different. That’s actually part of the charm but difficult if you are mobility impaired. Get ready for plenty of exercise. 😉 Rick gave us some resident funicular passes so we didn’t need to run up the stairs at night. A truly sweet man.

Rick and his family give much more than a great stay. The local history of the area and of their self build, added to the art work on show make a stay here unique.
