It's at prime location - restaurants, convenient stores and pharmacies are at prime locations. As for hotel itself - no hot water - only slightly warm water available. Rooms are not sound proof. Also building needs some renovation.

Unfortunately this hotel is a joke. Its cleanliness is something I would expect from a hotel that costs 5 pound a night. Stains everywhere and I mean everywhere which makes you highly uncomfortable please stay away this hotel should be stripped down and re made!

The hotel was old and run down. The hallway was noisy due to the noisy guests and children running through the corridors after midnight. When call into reception there was no answer. Generally clean and decent.

Room had bad smell. Asked to be moved to a different room and they gave me one right above the Karaoke Bar so it was loud music all night. Bathroom had no hot water for showering. The furniture was old and broken.

Very good hotel. The best customer care service. Also, with good breakfast choices. I really enjoyed my stay. They also allow you to leave the luggage at their concierge if your flight time is after check-out time. I would highly recommend.

I was out and ai returned in front of my room hotel staff my wife's friends wants to visit her . They asked for extra money for not sleeping people . I speak with them normal . They became calm . But they make my wife nervous . I will never stay again in this hotel for her 2 friends I paid 300 aed . Scammers

Absolutely a poor hotel - can not recommend it. Long check-in time, no parking available when l arrived, towels missing in the bath room, hair dryer out of order, insects in the room, water pressure in bath room weak, a lot of noise from airplanes and other guests, etc. Very old hotel. Needs a proper renovation and more efficient/professional services.

I booked this hotel for 4 days that was giving me a lot of regret. 1. Staffs are not helpful even rude 2. The room card need to restart at reception whatever we lock our room to go out. 3. Breakfast are scary even have hair in the foods 4. In room refrigerator is dirty 5. the most important thing is staffs are not working properly especially receptionist

we are staying Grand Excelisor hotel Dubai. Hotel Room Are ok But Room inside Amenities need to Some add like No have Bathrobe,Slipoer,dental kit ,coffe Vanity kit,etc. No have hand towel,bath mate. only one bath towel have room inside. when im request water in Reciption.. Reciption staff told me After 5 minutes I am sending it.. Then the cleaning staff comes and says that he cannot give water, bcz water is Charge able. if i give extra money then he give water. This is very bed system. only one time im request only water , refused the hotel staff.. Im staying many hotel but I didn’t see this type system. Im asking the housekeeping staff name he told me her name is Vaskor. i Recommended Everyone Room is good location also Good but Hotel facilities and Service staff behaviour are not good this hotel ,so if you want to good Facilities and Good behaviour ignore this hotel

Very old property. Super busy because of location and multiple night clubs inside the hotel. Elevator waiting time too long. Underground parking is a joke. Impossible to drive into the parking and every time someone has to inform the staff in the lobby so security opens the door for the parking. Having said that staff were lovely and kind.

The bed was so comfortable. Stayed in room.439 1st to 6th May good place to be but increase the amenities ie towels toilet rolls but in general.amazing staff

Upon check in, the lady at the reception was very rude but we let it slide, my friend and I as I just come from the hospital from a major surgery. Then the room I was assigned, where do I begin. It was dirty, had cockroach poop on the bathroom sink which by the way was also clogged it filled up after just washing hands. Then the small mini fridge had a masked smell and wasn’t even on. Lastly we asked whether it was a smoking room, not to smoke but rather to move to a non smoking because we couldn’t put it with the perfume that was used to hide the smell of tobacco. To our surprise the guy attending to the rooms just replied that we can smoke no issues. The bath tab looked like it wasn’t cleaned prior to us checking in. I was so disappointed over all.

You provided very poor service. I had to wait 10 minutes to enter the parking lot. Finally, no one opened the door When they open, the parking lot is very small with limited access. No one is responsible for the lobby department. Every service I need is forgotten ،I asked for a very simple item, no one brought me 2 pairs of slippers No one brought my luggage for me, I had to go and bring my luggage up myself My car was damaged due to the bad parking space. I am very sorry that I chose this hotel

Stayed there twice, end of January/beginning of February and end of February. They state 4 stars, but I confirm it is a low level 3 stars hotel. Management is Egyptian-Indian and the quality of the rooms and services is accordingly. As the Chinese saying goes, fish stinks from the head. The hotel caters mainly for lower middle class Indians. The check-in at my 2nd stay was pure disaster. Arrived at 1pm. Oficial check-in time was 2pm. So the let me wait one hour. At 2pm they still weren’t able to check me in. They were overtaxed with groups of Indians. Had to leave in order to do my errands. Deposited my luggage and returned at 7pm at which time I still had to wait until the check-in procedure had been carried out completely. Definitely not a 4 stars hotel. Room was basicly clean, however not spotless clean – filthy carpets and couches, hair threads in the bathroom. Sink and bathtub were clogged. Remote control for the TV-set was missing. Poor reception of TV-channels. Lots of channels from the list on the bedside table were missing alltogether. The connection point between shower head and hose was leaky. Talked the snags with the reception staff point by point. They managed to fix them partially. After switching off the TV-set the screen showed a blue display which disappeared only after about 2 hours – hard to fall asleep under such circumstances. Didn’t have any breakfast, however had a stroll around the buffet: cheap products, smell was unbearable. Had a guest for short time on my room and they levied a visitor charge of 200 AED (55 USD) which in my opinion is sheer blatant greediness and reflects the criminogenic energy of the management. Rest rooms in the lobby area are a disaster: clogged and dirty WCs, no soap, water supply let to desire, water taps defect. My suggestion is to use the toilets on the rooftop. Staff was courteous, however not all of them were well trained. Asked the concierge to arrange a restaurant reservation for me and he was simply incapable to tackle it. He had obviously difficulties with tipping Latin letters. Reception assisted with the task. On the 5th floor there’s Tehran Club and a bar which are frequented by hordes of Iranian and Central Asian prostitutes, their pimps and clients. Acccordingly, there’s a brisk trade in the lobby and in the lifts during literally every night of the week.

Nice hotel. Good staff. Jasbeer and Farnham concierge were very friendly and helpful. The Bar was quiet on the 3 occasions we went the staff gave good service. The pool area was pleasant. Breakfast was good and the Indian buffet dinner had a good selection of dishes. Nice coffe in the coffee shop although a little expensive. I would happily return.

This would to say big big thanks to the hotel team , would name particularly night shift reception team (Mr Khaled ) … really they are a true sample of how hotels should serve the clients, their responses to our request has been treated with Kindness and smile despite the late time . I really thank them and I would keep booking in this hotel for my next visits to Dubai and I would highly recommend this to my freind, colleagues, family. Again thank you .

Expected the hotel to be at least clean. Being in the area of old Dubai I did think it would be old but not as tired as it was. The bathroom was terrible to say the least, mould all over, if we had being staying more than one night we would have changed hotels. The breakfast did not cater for international or European guests. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Cockroaches at the bar and floors, human hair in the bathtub, dirty smell, very slow response and checking, too busy to clean the room are some of the bad experience i encountered during my four-night stay at this hotel. Despite their action to correct these issues, still you cannot fix which is unfixable especially the part of watching a cockroach climbing all the way up to the peanuts dish (I got the video to prove it) and despite the call to the bartender to check and see and the attempts of the manager to ask me to delete the video but i could not keep shut with all respect to the staff. i think this hotel needs truly a new hotel. you can live with some insects on the floor or walls but when it comes to food and health a person cannot stay shut. Having a dirty room and complaining where the staff try to find you a better room is a normal thing but the new room got cockroaches is a bit unhealthy and i agreed to put everything behind me and move on to another bigger room despite lacking the little details. But watching a cockroach climbing and ending up in the peanut's dish is unacceptable because usually having one member of the cockroach family scouting means other members of the family are nearby. Dubai is famous for its organization, strict rules and regulations and of course caring about the health of people and this is what makes Dubai unique but how can a hotel such as this be like this in a beautiful city like Dubai. If you cannot clean your hotel then don't open to public. I wish the hotel would accept my criticism and fix it.

Thw hotel name is Grand but nothing grand about this terrible hotel. Carpet and room smells diety. In 3 days stay we have to keep on complaining whole of our trip went in hotel staff fixing. Shame for hotels.com to advertise such patheic hotel which is not upto standard. Stay away for family

I rarely submit a negative review because I try to see the positives in a situation. The hotel is in a good location with plenty of restaurants, supermarkets & nightclubs in the area. There is a nightclub on the ground floor of this building which makes it very noisy. Planes fly LITERALLY just metres above the roof which makes it quite deafening. The hotel is very old and run down and needs serious updating. The furniture is old and chipped. The photos are NOT accurate! The drain in my bathroom basin was blocked did not work. They said they would fix it immediately and I waited almost five hours until 2am for it to be fixed. There was a 4-metre patch of carpet in the hallway that was absolutely saturated. Two telephones in my room and neither of them worked. They were kind enough to offer me a 1pm checkout then they started calling me at 12:15 telling me to get out of the room . The hotel is a DUMP! I only stayed one night because I was in transit between China and Oman. I wanted to be close to Dubai and Sharjah airports. I would not recommend this hotel for a stay of more than one night. JUST DON'T DO IT!

To be honest i booked this hotel me my wife and my child 6 years old I been booked 2 bed king bed but i was reach there they give me 2 single bed and they ask me to buy another bed for 200 dirham if you convert it’s cost £44.5 a night I ask why they said what did you get online it’s not right this is business in Dubai and I was up set and I have no choice because I can’t afford that money after I share the bed my son this is my worst 3 nights in dubai

Not good hotel .. the furniture is very old and the night club is working all the night and you can hear the music from your room ... the reception team is unproffesional except one Rakia was good they gave me free upgarde and after 2 nights they told me thats enough and please change the room !!!!!

Would never ever go to this hotel as we had a very bad experience. The room that they gave us was with a bath tub nd we wanted a shower cubicle room. They moved us into a disabled room nd that room was infested with cockroaches 🪳. Would not recommend anybody to go nd stay in such a place. We had to checkout nd go to another hotel. 😡😳

I want to start by saying that this was booked by Expedia and was meant to be with breakfast which I paid extra for but when the confirmation came it was without breakfast. It definitely did not mention that it was 3PM check in time because had I known this prior to my arrival I would not have booked this property. Our flight was an early morning one and when we arrived they told us that we couldn’t check in until 3PM nor did they have “any available rooms” that we could purchase even though we should have been a complimentary one seeing as we were leaving at midnight the night we was leaving. The staff did not care that we had just got off a flight and made us sit in the waiting area for number of hours before we finally got our room. They wouldn’t declare the difference in price for with or without breakfast and had no idea how it could have happened. There was many other people in similar situations as a lot of them were in the waiting area.. check out time is also early so need to bear that in mind. Room card kept not working so daily had to go downstairs to make it work again. Terrible experience not sure how this is a 4* hotel.

This is the worst hotel I’ve eveeeeer stayed in my life. Service is awful. Bad smell, unserviceable items are there. Top of the cake the staffs simply don’t know how to behave/ talk to the customer!! They doesn’t even do the room cleaning at all!’

What you see on Expedia's website is not it! It's a low budget hotel with very dirty room's and bathrooms. You would have call multiple times for the cleaning and for clean cups! No it's nothing to write about and they do not use Expedia! Expedia is a thief!!

The property was shabby and unclean. I didcovered a cockroach in my bedroom and developed a rash on my leg where I was bitten by something.

The overall cleaniness and the attitude of the staff.

Staff were totally unprofessional we called for towels 10 times no one was response back to us.

Not impressed at all with the service at this hotel. Alot of the staff were definitely not attentive nor concerned with the service provisioned. Facilities aged and poorly kept. Currency exchange non existneent - told no cash! Worst, very noisy into earlly hour's and on last night what sounded like a massive riot occurred around 4 am. Never bothered to ask as staff didnt care much on arrival.

The room smelt of damp and there were no towels. The only good thing about the hotel was the bed that’s all. I wouldn’t come back again though.

Location was good. Bed was comfortable. Reception has no idea what is going on. They asked me to pay them when I was checking out. I said I booked through Expedia and showed confirmation but they still insisted that they have not received payment and I should follow up with Expedia. The staff has no idea what's going on. I'm still here and they are trying to figure out their payment.

Room had a mildew smell. Everything else was very good.

Checking in staff needs more training. Front desk is a mix bag of tight and wrong information. Poor communication between staff. Staff do make up statements to cover up lack of info. Poor organisation at breakfast hall. No one guides you to a table. Once you get up to get more food your seat will go. There is no one to organise the chaos. I found staff just standing there not bothered. Most rooms needs updating. Good locations very courteous door staff.

The stay was ok, food accommodation clean, etc... However the Pubs noise was too high making it difficult to sleep.

It was not what the pictures claimed it would be. The room and amenities were old, outdated and not the cleanest. The service was also awful. One or two staff members were helpful but overall, the service was lacking.

All was excellent!!!The room was exactly as to the foto and very clean.The people who work there in all the positions were helpfull and friendly!!!The breakfast ....had more than i expected and all was delicious.We met also the sef who asked as our opinion if he could impove someting.The location was great.I also liked the fact that hotel was connected with the mall.All was professional and the staff was as it must be.I reccoment it!!!

Very good relation of price and what you get. The hotel gives the feel of a five star in many aspects. What I particularly like is the sleep quality. I had problems in some other hotels in Dubai with the air condition blowing right onto my bed (and body), which makes me sick. In this one I never have this problem. And I sleep very well here.

Comfortable stay overnight. It was the Eid holiday so the bar was not serving any beer. The refridgerators were not very good and a bit slow at chilling any drinks. Bathroom and shower good and the bed was very comfortable.

The hotel is not cleaned well.. housekeeping is too slow when you ordered any things or ask ... the parking is too small and bad to keep the car outside Only for this hotel 2 star is nice

From the arrival to the departure,everything was perfect. Thanks to the whole team as we can t do it separately. They have upgrades...from my last stay last year to this year.....not noisy anymore, just wonderful.

When I got to the hotel after a long flight I found out that the air conditioning was off although it was 40 degrees outside I then switched it on only to find out that it was faulty The engineer cane to fix it but all night I could not sleep as the air conditioning was not working still I complained to the manager on the following morning but there was no apology nor did they refund my money

Very friendly and professional staff, huge bed and I'm 6'4. The ensuite bathroom was really big but could do with a deep clean around the tub and a lick of paint. I would hundred percent stay there again and recommend it to other travelers.

Check in experience was not pleasant. Rooms were dingy, nats were flying around. Towels were rough, not very clean. Room service was OKAY. Rooftop is pretty nice.

I've stayed at this hotel several times now and had a great time everytime. I would give it 5 out of 5 for everything, however, slight disappointment was the 100 AED entry fee to the Stars Studio club which was previously free.

I very much enjoyed my 4-night stay at the Grand Excelsior. The hotel is in a good location, well known to taxi drivers and only a 10-15 minute walk from a metro station. The Concierge and Front Desk were extremely helpful and there is a splendid breakfast on offer. I attend an annual event in the World Trade Centre, and have every intention of returning to the Grand Excelsior next year.

My booking was mixed up by you. The hotel had my name but showed me as a nigerian with a nigerian email address BUT with my credit card details........ HOW COULD YOU GUYS MAKE THIS MISTAKE??????????

Old hotel good staff

The hotel itself is nice. Clean, comfortable. The location of the hotel is the issue (at least for me). It's on the flightpath to Dubai airport and 24/7 there are airplanes flying no more than 500 feet over the hotel. The rooms are soundproof so it dampens considerably the noise; however, the pool is a rooftop one (and bears little resemblance to the photos) so you get the full brunt of an A380's 4 engines as it flies a couple of 100 feet over you (relaxing its not). The nightclub next door has music every night until 3am. Again, the soundproofing dampens a lot of the noise but you can still hear the boom boom boom!! There is nothing the hotel can do about it. It's entirely my own doing for not properly researching before I left. Anyway, if the above doesn't put you off, then I would recommend it especially if you like Indian food as there a loads of good non touristy restaurants within walking distance. I never once paid more than £10 for a really good meal.

This hotel is amazing and have the best staff I have ever seen. They are friendly and very welcoming and provide the best service you could ever imagine. If you are to ever visit Dubai I would suggest to stay at this hotel for the best experience.

way over priced drinks £6 for a coke beers ranging from £10 a pint to £16 a pint (bottled beers) food is about the right price it is best to book packages rather than pay on the day staff are very helpful though, on a very poor note smoking is permitted in bars so when you get back to your room you will smell like an ash tray like it or not . Premiership football and champions league are shown in the sports bar but the satellite / cable channels in the rooms are a waste of time only bbc news 24 for uk viewers no pay per view available in rooms airport shuttle is 95 AED were a taxi is 25 AED overall a nice hotel its a little dated but comfortable. Meal packages are on a buffet basis you do get a varied selection at every sitting we had no issues with the food offered. The curries are very good but a bit on the spicy side. If you are thinking of hiring a car good luck you will need it the standard of driving is very poor my advice is stick to the taxis and just hold on.

I really miss the staff after leaving the hotel and going to Abu Dhabi. The hotel has a restaurant with buffet, room was comfortable including the bed. The location was easy to find and very fast ro get Uber. Lobby always clean.

Amazing stay

I have been there for almost a month. I came to really like the staff and they were very helpful. The Manager for the reservations was able to accommodate all my requests, and the reception was good, and the staff in the lobby were also on the ball and helping out in things. The room comfort is really good and especially I was happy with the beds. Very nice to sleep in. The location is very close to the airport and one can reach Sharjah, Dubai Downtown, Airport, all in a short time. The surroundings are not so great, but one has a big supermarket, cheap food, and pretty much everything one needs to walking distance. If you don't want to spend the price of a nifty 5star luxury, this one has pretty much all one needs in a good standard, and one can afford to stay for a month without going broke.
