The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location was great. The grounds are very clean. It seems to be one of the nicer places to stay in the area. We liked it.
We like to workout and are fit, but there were ALOT of stairs that I don’t think some people could handle. There are some rooms without as many steps so it is good to ask before you book a particular room. We also thought from the online drawings that there were individual huts. Not really. They all seem to be connected in the hillside.
There was no breakfast
Noisy parties all night, no security to shut them down. No sleep thus tired all day. No water pressure or hot water thus unable to shower. When you complained to the staff you are told, " email the manager"
Room was very spacious, comfortable bed.
The 150 stairs up to our room , we where hoping by end of stay we could do it without loosing our breath, didn't happen. Drinks at bar quite expensive $30 for 2 margaritas.
Location was great, Staff Julio was amazing. He recommended places and really friendly.
Unbelievably perfect villa in the best location. Gorgeous interior, lovely view, perfect amount of space for my girlfriend and the area is so quiet/calm while being so close to the action.
We would have liked slightly more frequent cleaning/towel delivery.
The hotel property was beautiful and conveniently located. We thoroughly enjoyed the pools, and the Linda unit was unique, well furnished and had an amazing view of the ocean.
Loved the ocean views from our open-air Living Area. Loved the vibe of the hotel. Loved the staff.
Nothing.
The entire property is lush and it is beyond beautiful. Our room was very clean and quite charming. The properties location is situated on the edge of this tiny beautiful town - perfect location. Just be aware that you will have to walk up many stairs and steep inclines. Oh, and the pool is inviting and has a lovely view of the ocean - we used it more than I thought and it was never crowded as we had it to ourselves most of the time.
We were in Sayulita for the first time for our daughters wedding, she had been there several times and scouted out the best locations for us to stay based on the amount of guests attending. We stayed in the Peninsula villa, it was a beautiful room with not too many stairs but enough to feel like we were getting a work out. If you have mobility issues, this is not the hotel for you, but if you are fit and can handle stairs then I highly recommend. The staff was awesome, Julio in reception was very attentive and friendly, we were there for one week and we had no issues with staff. Rooms were very clean and unique from room to room, since we had so many of our friends in other villas we were able to see several different rooms. I loved that they were all different. I was able to cook for 10+ people with no issues, plenty of needed cookware. I recommend stopping at the main grocery store from the airport if you plan on cooking. Depending on on the size of your room your refrigerator is small with limited ice trays, we had to make sure and refill them each time we used them. Each room has filtered water dispenser which was nice. We will definitely return to this Hotel, the location is on the far side of town but in walking distance to everything. We had a 6 person golf cart even though there was only 3 of us, and we used it every day, we were able to offer rides to our friends into town and it was great to have with all the wedding activities , we used Roys Golf Carts. We used Sayulita Suburban for our Airport Shuttle and they were awesome, never waited for them to arrive, they were early and very professional. So Happy with every aspect of our time in Sayulita. If you plan on eating at the restaurant at the hotel (not affiliated with hotel) make sure you are clear with what you order and check your bill and the amount you tip. We had issues several times with ordering, food was very good but just beware of it. So many good restaurants, we never had a bad meal. I will be giving reviews on all we ate at.
Wonderful property and very friendly staff!
The extremely steep stairs up to the villas was more than I expected.
If you sleep with earplugs, this hotel might work for you. I stayed in the 2-bedroom ocean villa, but it’s right next to a main road — you can hear everything: cars, people, all of it. Other than that, the room itself is amazing. But for the money, you could probably find something better.
Great location
The rooms are gorgeous and the staff is very friendly. If they had a couple of vegan options on the restaurant menu it would be even better.
Beds were very comfortable
Stairs
We stayed in the Oceana suite. Was so spacious and the most amazing view from every window and balcony. It was quirky in all the right places but a great sleep and shower experience. Having the stove was nice to make our own breakfasts. The pool area was small but the property kept everything very clean. I did two yoga classes on property. From the pictures I expected the villas to be stand alone but they are built into each other and up the hill. Be careful to understand how many steps are at the villa you select. Would have liked it if they replenished a few water bottles each day but you could ask at the front desk.
Stunning views and so unique.
The staff was very friendly and hospitable. The suite and property were immaculate.
Breakfast was good. Setting was beautiful and friendly staff.
We didn't have information in our room about how to reach front desk or the code to the gates. We had to ask other guests. Bathroom in our room not very functional. Shower didn't have enough shelving for our items. Only 1 mirror in the entire room. No ironing board and it took a long time to get hot water in the shower.
Great views, unique space. Awesome being so close to the Playa los Muertos. Definitely do not need a car staying there.
Tons of steps up to our place. Pool was shaded for most of the day. Little further from the main part of town than expected.
Great hotel for surf camp. Sayulita is adorable. Rooms are very nice. For us, it was part of an all girls surf camp which was very well organized and a lot of fun. Morning Yoga, breakfast in town that was fantastic and fun outings. But again that was through the surf camp and this hotel was part of that.
Lovely setting Gorgeous rooms .Great views. Can’t wait to come back. Daniel at the Concierge was so helpful and kind. We stayed in both May Y Sol and Corazon. The restaurant on property Si Senor had fantastic food. Luis our server was so kind and funny. Hard to leave! Cute town. Lots of charm.
Na
The bed was a bit too soft for my back
Beautiful location and the room was very comfortable
Not very quiet but had a lovely vibe
Each of the suites at Villa Amor is unique, so I can really only speak to the Peninsula suite, the hotel grounds the perfect location and the wonderful staff. Set slightly away from downtown, this charming hotel offers peace and quiet away from the golf carts, cars, trucks with loudspeakers and general hub bub, but it's just a few minutes walk to the center and the main beach. Additionally, it's just a few minutes the other way to Playa de Los Muertos. The hotel offers free morning yoga classes, and the pools are beautiful. I can't say enough about the staff. Each and every one was friendly, professional and helpful. When I left something in the room, they contacted me immediately and were so helpful. The hotel deserves 5 stars. The only reason that I have to take one away is because of a few quirks in the Peninsula room, which dampened our enthusiasm a bit. The layout was a bit odd because it was all about the huge, gorgeous balcony. And why wouldn't it be? The view is amazing, so you spend most of the time out there anyway, but when it's hot, you'd like to go inside. Unfortunately, there really isn't anywhere to sit "comfortably" inside. There's just the bed because the bar stools and single wood chair aren't comfy. Also, there are no curtains or blinds. No one can see in (yet, I note that there is construction happening next door, which may change that); however, the lights from town shine right in all night and kept me up, and the sun rises also directly in the room at this time of year, so you are up when the sun comes up. It's lovely to watch the sunrise for the first few days, but then, it would be nice to sleep in. A couple of things to note, the restaurant, Si Senor, is not part of the hotel. It is just conveniently located there at the edge of the water, and you can get breakfast, lunch and dinner. Would I stay at Villa Amor again? Absolutely! I loved it, but I would probably go one floor up where they have curtains.
Spacious, well decorated room with a great view. Parking availability would have been good.
Our stay at Villa Amor was unforgettable! My husband, our two kids, and I loved every moment. The ocean view from our villa was stunning, and the walk to the quiet Playa de los Muertos was just five minutes. The staff was so friendly and made us feel at home, always ready to help with anything we needed. The villa was clean, cozy, and had everything we could ask for. We enjoyed yoga, exploring the town, and just relaxing as a family. If you're looking for a beautiful, peaceful place in Sayulita, Villa Amor is perfect! We can’t wait to come back
Great property with great rooms with views. 5 minute walk to town. Highly recommend
The room itself was beautiful as was the view. We lucked out and got one one on the ground level. Apparently if you don’t, there are many stairs. There is absolutely no parking. We paid for a rental that we never used because we had to park it across town and had pay for parking too. Beware there are no TVs. I like to watch a movie after being out all day and that was off the table. Would not stay there again.
Beautiful setting, quaint rooms, just outside of town to avoid hustle/busy and constant people. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, concierge helped organise transfers from airport.
Couple of small things which were challenging with a baby - room didn’t have black thick blinds so room stayed light, room was also noisy (ear plugs provided for adults, no help for a baby). Pool was nice but not large - it’s also shared by two hotels (Villa Amor original and newer hotel), this was very busy and often full of large groups drinking.
Very nice, highly recommended!!!
Lovely property and town! Bring cash (pesos), as the credit card reader at restaurant/bar at hotel was down and most of the restaurants/bars in town are cash-only…
The location, in my opinion was one of the best in Sayulita. It perfectly overlooked the ocean and the entire place was gorgeous. The staff were so nice and helpful and it was nice that they were okay speaking english. It is set against a hillside covered in the most lush tropical plants and trees.
The only thing I would say is the stairs can be brutal if you aren't in shape. Make sure that when you are booking if you can't handle stairs that you choose a lower floor. The top floors do have the best view though.
The place was beautiful and each room was different. I loved the touches of old doors and recycled fixtures including windows and some furniture. It was very comfortable and clean. They thought of everything and were happy to help with any questions or requests we had.
We loved the property.
Beautiful. Each room is different and so ornate. Daniel the manager is so hard working and went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. More hotels need a manager and team like this who really care.
Room and room amenities (cutlery, dishes etc) were great. Look and feel was very relaxing. Pool was amazing. Quiet... But close to activities and beach. Would definitely stay here again. Staff was great.
While there were lots of stairs, after a couple days you got used to them... And I guess it was good exercise.
Such an awesome place, and totally quiet. Would definitely recommend.
The breakfast at the hotel was good at "Si Senor"! The servers at the restaurant were so friendly and helpful! There was one particular person that I can't recall his name who was a server who went beyond to help my entire family!
A telephone in the rooms or villas would a big help. If it wasn't for our maids who would relate the messages to the front desk, we would have to walk all those stairs and back up to relate a message
Loved this property! We stayed in Mar Vida and we will be back. The stairs are killer…but great views from the top and the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable.
Unfortunately this faculty does not deliver as promised on the website. Our room was up about 10 flights of stairs with no little cart to transport like other resorts. The room had no view of the ocean at all. There was no closet to hang clothes, no garbage can and no phone. There are no bathrobes. To contact front desk, we had to use our own phones. There are no amenities nearby. It’s a good 20-30 minute walk to any store. The Si Senor on site is way overpriced… I paid 700 pesos for a small piece of fish and done rice. The front desk do not tell you about amenities or activities. It’s not a resort as o know them. We are two fairly fit people in our 50s but once we climbed those 10+ flights of stairs, we were in for the day. I spoke to the front desk about changing rooms and offered to pay for any difference in price and all the front desk did was continue to blame me for booking the wrong room. The place was empty… I barely saw any other guests. I would not recommend this place. They are not guest focused or helpful.
I literally felt like a princess in a fairy tale. This place was magical, I can't wait to go back!!!
The stairs!
Restaurant and staff were wonderful
The location was great, at the beach and only a very short walk into the main part of town. We had a villa with a large open air balcony/terrace with kitchen and it was delightful sitting out there looking at the view. The pool was nice and the staff were very friendly. Would return and would recommend for anyone going to Sayulita.
Showers had very low water pressure if that's something that you care about. They were nice and hot though.
The hotel is beautiful, but for the price, it was low value. We had a number of issues: We got a two bedroom / two bathroom apartment and neither shower worked the first day. They fixed one the second day we were there. We stopped on our way from the airport to get food and our fridge was turned off so when we arrived late and unpacked our food, the next morning, everything had spoiled. No one told us there were yoga classes, so I walked across town for yoga, only to find out the hotel had classes every morning. The Concierge said there was yoga every day except Fri/Sat/Sun.... and then we went to the pool Friday and there was a yoga class that morning as well. I told them I was disappointed about the miscommunication and he didn't even apologize. We reserved a car with a carseat and triple checked that there would be one there, and it was in the car on the way to the hotel, but even with a reminder, they forgot on the way back. This caused a 30-min delay on the way to the airport. The driver kept complaining about the owner of the hotel, always forgetting to tell him… he was angry and irritated the entire ride that we needed one and we made him late. It caused a particularly unpleasant ride to the airport. There were people working in our patio one afternoon when we were on the patio and did not even apologize or acknowledge it was inconvenient. I didn’t feel comfortable sitting out there alone in a bathing suit; it was the only afternoon we were trying to relax there. I thought the space was supposed to be private. I'm not sure if they were working there the other days as well since we were not in the apartment. The view is beautiful though. And the place nicely decorated and very clean. For the price, there were other places half the price I will stay at when we return to Sayulita.
We hosted all of our guests for our Wedding in Villa Amor (~55 guests) and occupied almost all the villas available. My experience in securing the rooms, completing the payments and co-ordinating requests was nothing short of seamless! The reservations team especially Jesse; was an absolute pleasure to work with every day leading up to the trip! He was so patient, kind and thorough is ensuring everything was perfect upon the arrival of our guests. Jesse thank you for everything before, during and after our stay and for taking care of each and every one of our guests! You and the front desk team treated us with so much kindness and this is something we will always remember from our wedding. During our stay, Villa Amor accommodated our requests for golf carts, airport transportation, quick maintenance needs and went above and beyond for a few events we held at the Kissing Garden from start to finish. As for the rooms, they are all individually unique and beautiful in their own way. I would highly suggest setting expectations with your guests prior to arriving so that they may enjoy the wonderful beauty of Villa Amor to its fullest. (Eg- stairs, dinning, walking, etc.) The views, the pool, yoga in the mornings are all such nice amenities. While we only stayed 7 days, by the end of their stay at Villa Amor, no one wanted to leave their villa and Sayulita! Thank you for a great week Villa Amor, you will always be part of our most treasured memories!
What a special and unique hotel! We stayed in the Tortuga suite and were so happy with the space and views. We absolutely loved spending evenings with Frank and Ivan at the hotel bar. They were so friendly, always remembered us when we came back each day, and were extremely attentive and service oriented! They made our wonderful stay extra amazing! 🤩
Beautiful room, beautiful location, excellent massage, friendly and helpful staff.
My wedding rings were stolen out of my bag. The safe in our room was not working. On our last full day there, I decided not to wear my wedding rings. Tucked them into my bag. The following morning, they were gone. I know someone went through my bag because my blow dryer cord was wrapped in a way that I would never wrap it. I never used my blow dryer during my stay, and only used the one provided in the room. When I informed the front desk I was told, "That doesn't happen here." I wasn't expecting anything, I just wanted to let them know that one of their employees stole my rings and they should look into it so that it doesn't happen to another guest. That was the only negative experience we had, but it was a big one!
We stayed three nights over Thanksgiving in Villa Hermosas We thought the property was beautiful and the service was great until it wasn’t ……. On the last full day of our trip I decided not to wear my wedding rings to the beach. Our safe wasn’t working , so I tucked them in a side pocket of my suitcase underneath some clothes. When I went to wear them the next morning, they were gone. I tore my suitcase apart, and nothing. When I reported to the front desk upon checkout, I was told, “This doesn’t happen here.” Well, YES it does. I am so disappointed. I can also report that the housekeeper, Irma, definitely went through my bag because my hair dryer cord was wrapped the way they had there’s wrapped, and I have never done that and did not ever take my hair dryer out of my bag, but did use the one provided. Final note, the property was lovely and I would actually stay again. I will not bring any valuables again and am warning anyone who is considering staying here to do the same.
Location was great, walking distance to Playa Los Muertos & beautiful views!
The views!
The door was very difficult to lock and unlock - this should be fixed for future visitors, it was a huge pain and took like 5 minutes to get in or out each time.
My room was lovely, the bed was comfy and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The listing did not include that my room was up 6 flights of stairs. The hotel was very loud starting in the morning- this was not a place to expect a quite, relaxing vacation. Twice I had people try to get into my room (without knocking) while I was inside.
Great location, tucked off from the side of downtown and right on the water. Rooms were well kept and clean, we had a great time visiting for 3 days here. We enjoyed the pool and the proximity to the beach can't be beat. Bed was EXTREMELY comfortable.
Wifi was very hit or miss. Aside from that, no complaints.
We had a destination wedding in sayulita, MX and our stay at Villa amor was nothing short from exceptional service and accommodation. Jesse, Karen, and Daniel all went above and beyond to help us and our family. We couldn’t have ask for a more unique and special location that made us feel close/united, yet have privacy as needed. Any questions were swiftly answered and request were met without hesitation. Majority of our wedding party stayed Villa amor and amor boutique and had nothing positive reviews. We highly recommend for any wedding or events to book through Villa amor!!
Jesse was my right hand man. The whole staff was also incredible. Went on a trip with 4 of my girlfriends and felt taken care of the whole time. Villa amor is a very safe place to stay in Sayulita. We stayed at Villa Armonia. 11/10. Run don’t walk to villa amor. Thank you Jesse and everyone there!!!
I have been staying here since 2015. Last time I stayed in the room Las Lanchas. I love the sound of the ocean and I love the safety and security of this hotel. Most of all I love the staff. One staff member in particular, Jesse has always made me feel comfortable and welcome. Every time I call, he remembers my name and remembers me and takes good care of me. it’s really nice to feel comfortable and safe away from home and know that I am well taken care of. Thank you Jesse and thank you to all the other staff.
I don't know if I've ever written a review for a resort before. I've been to many and I'm definitely particular about how I like my stays, but I never quite felt the urge to write about my experience. But with how well my (now) wife and I were treated throughout the whole experience with Villa Amor, I feel it's only right to share some glowing remarks about this place and their staff. We hosted a wedding party of about 70 people, and about a year ago we decided that we'd love for them all to stay at one place. We did a ton of research, and eventually found Villa Amor and pulled the trigger based off a strong recommendation from a family member. From the moment we first emailed, Jesse Avila was the best. He answered the (what I can only assume) thousand questions we had throughout the year without hesitation or resentment. He made us feel like our wedding experience was the most important event in his mind, even though I'm sure he was dealing with a ton of other guests and events. We had never been to Sayulita, so we wondered whether the service would change once we arrived, but it legitimately only got better. The resort staff, top to bottom, was the best that we have ever encountered. As far as the villas go, they're just like other people have said on here. Each one has its own unique style, and that makes the adventure so much fun. Escondida was our first, and it felt like a romantic and private getaway from the rest of the resort. Gran Villa was our main stay, and if you're thinking about splurging, it is worth every single penny. That place is incredible. The only thing I'll warn people about is that the Paraiso can definitely be a tough sleep when it's hot and humid, because only 1 room there has AC and AC was like a godsend for guests whenever we were looking for a respite from the weather. Other favorites worth mentioning were the Pacifico, Peninsula and Tortuga, in that order. Quick hitter tips for those coming in fresh like we were... Get the golf carts, because they were a lot of fun and saved legs and energy as the trip went on. Trust that the AC in the rooms is MORE than adequate. My wife was grateful she brought her cozies, because I like it cold. The resort does same day laundry for a reasonable price, and this was a huge perk for us since we didn't want to have a pile once we got home. Food: Fish tacos at Mary's, Tapas at Sur38, and Italian at Zingaro. Wedding venue: Brisa Mar Palapa. We had seen pictures, but it truly doesn't do the venue justice. Couldn't be happier with how that went, and it's only a short walk from the resort. In the end, I'd just like to give another shoutout to Jesse and his staff, because we will always be grateful for this trip exceeding our expectations in every regard. Thanks!
This property is in a great location.
The shower in the room was not working properly and the bed was outdated. A lot of holes in the mattress and the sheets were smaller than the mattress itself.
Beautiful location just a few minutes walk to Sayulita bars and restaurants. Variety of rooms and villas. Villas and larger rooms sometimes have small bedrooms with AC and the rest of the villa under cover with open air. In hot and humid months you may need a private dipping pool or all inside room so make sure you check the room type before you spend big for the larger villas/rooms. Hillside terraces allow mostly secluded patios and private pools. Great view of ocean, beach and local fishing. Eduardo at the front desk was so helpful resolving a misunderstanding with 3rd party airport transfer company, extra towels, directions, and recommendations. Service is top notch.
Beautiful place
Loved this place. The hotels is nestled on the far left of the Sayulita beach. Stayed in the Corazón Villa place was amazing great views. Had an amazing time but unfortunately had a few items that were taken from our room and when I went to the front desk and told them about it, they said they didn’t have an option and would only report it. This is very disheartening because when you’re on vacation having your items stolen, is one of the worst things and especially from our room. No one wants to think that someone will be going through all your bags while you’re not in the room . So make sure that when traveling to boutique hotels or any kind of hotels always put all your electronics or valuables in the safe. I will not make that mistake again.
Everything was great except that a pair of earrings went missing after the second day in our room.
We had a safe box issue in our room where we could not open the safe at 6 am. We had a tea time at a local golf course at 7 am and found out reception does not get in until 8 am so we had to cancel our golf experience And was charged $350 . It took them 2 days before they decided to swap out the safe to avoid this issues. There is no security and anyone can just enter the Hotel since they keep the front gate open at all times. Other than that everything was pleasant and nice.
Place was amazing with the most spectacular view in Sayulita. Staff was amazing, restaurant was great. Your still in touch with nature while living in luxury! Everything is close in proximity to Villas. It's definitely an adventure to say the least but well worth it. If your somewhat bougie it's not for you maybe go to Cancun!
Customer service was excellent!
Everything was perfect
Came here with the family and had an amazing stay. The room was big and comfortable and the staff was great. The pool is nice, but with the beach right out front with bath warm water, it’s a no brained to hang on the sand. Location is right outside of the main downtown, so You get some quiet, with a short golf cart ride or walk into town. They were very helpful in booking golf cart for the duration of the stay and airport transportation. Only complaint is that my wife and I took advantage of the massage special they have. We were accidentally charged full price. We told the hotel and they immediately started looking into it and contacting the massage place. We showed them the receipt with the charge and they took a photo and said they’d get a refund for the over charge issued, but we never got it. I tried calling, but the number didn’t work and I sent follow up email and never heard back. A bummer, but would still come back without question. Maybe would just skip the massage this time around. Overall very worth it!
No hay forma de estacionar auto cerca de la propiedad. Llevar auto es un gran inconveniente, calle super angosta
Excellent location. Beautiful scenery and the staff are amazing.
Booking.com linked my trip to "Daytrip" for a prearranged ride from the airport to the resort and then from the resort the return to the airport. Daytrip is a scam. I paid for the ride but the driver did not show up and I had to UBER. Booking.com should not direct American citizens to a scam company like Daytrip. It was very stressful and almost ruined our whole trip. I ended up paying an extra $300 to get to the airport and not miss my flight. Booking should refund the money I spent on this scam ride service.
room was nice and spacious
our room was right on a busy road and was so loud especially at night…
Tortuga in Villa Amor was incredible! The view was stunning and it had a wonderful ocean breeze and you can hear the sounds of the waves!
Very clean and the staff was very helpful. I would stay there again!
Very charming hotel. We got a room where we didn’t have to climb the stairs, which was very helpful with a baby.
The stairs would have made it tough for us.
Loved the location and size of the room!
The room smelt like mildew and/or mold. Everything we brought smelt like that and it took several washes of our clothing and bags when we got home to get the smell out. When I asked about it to the front office they just blew me off.
Beautiful hotel and great staff. The only thing that was negative about this hotel was all the stairs up to the room.
The villa is beautiful with breathtaking views. Short walk into town. The only downside was the 82 steps to climb up to our villa and there is no car parking so one has to find someplace on the street to park which isn’t easy with a car. Otherwise delightful but warning if you don’t want to climb stairs.
The setting is beautiful, the staff was attentive, the grounds were well kept. Everything was clean and comfortable. Our driver hired by Villa Amor to take us to and from the airport was prompt and safe. Si Senor, the restaurant on the property was also excellent. Carlos the manager set up a beautiful and memorable birthday dinner in the gazebo with wine and flowers. We enjoyed the lovely infinity pool in a jungle setting.
The only part about our stay that was not perfect was the noise from people's music around the bay. Villa Amor does not have control over this.Heavy duty earplugs and noise cancelling apps help some.
I love everythin about Villa Amor
