Only complaint was the construction right in front of the hotel that made a 4 minute commute to campus a nightmare but that was no fault if the hotel. Wish the hotel would have informed us when booking
Road closed in front of hotel
The hotel was very nice, convenient to the college normally. We had a detour move in weekend and had to go around drive wise. The restaurant attached was very good and service was great.
Loved the stay-restaurant was sublime and the waitstaff was fabulous!!
Great location! Pool was great fun for the kids!
Everything was great!
Loved the location, clean and safe. Wonderful experience all around including helpful staff and fast room service request.
Nothing
Did not eat there. The hotel has been freshened since last time there. Loved all the Ohio Univ decor including many touches of OU hunter green. Patio area is great. Location adjacent to OU is great.
Fine as is. OU is a beautiful campus. The downtown is a dump. The public library is also a disappointment.
Friendly staff, cold ac, free WiFi, and a good restaurant attached.
In the suite you have to leave the bedroom door open or you won’t get to enjoy the cold air from the ac in the livingroom
We loved having a restaurant and bar on site. The drinks were awesome at the bar. After a long day of driving that was greatly appreciated.
The pillows were very puffy. My husband & I prefer flat pillows. It would be great to have options available in the room. For example Holiday Inn offers multiple size pillows in their rooms for the varied preferences of customers.
we like the bar area and restaurant we had late night drinks and also breakfast in the morning
The people next to us in the adjacent room or loud until about 2 AMi. gosh.
Convenient location, clean, well laid out. Restaurant and bar nice too.
Exactly as advertised.
I would stay here again! You can tell that the owners of this hotel love their business. From the cute Kleenex holder, to the adorable box holding the coffee options, to the very comfortable beds, there has been a lot of thought and heart to make this hotel an amazing experience.
It’s quiet, clean, comfortable and extremely close to OU campus.
Nothing
Very clean and comfortable bed.
That breakfast was not included
Excellent customer service. Very clean rooms. Location perfect for campus and Athens
It was very clean and the location was perfect. The courtyard was beautiful and the restaurant was good.
This wasn’t a big deal, but there was a gap between the door slightly, and it let in a lot of the light from the hallway
the cost is a little high
Everything was clean and comfortable. Wasn’t a fan on the sliding glass bathroom door. Other than that, it was fabulous. I would highly recommend
The staff were extremely helpful and nice. Went above and beyond for our dog with complimentary bacon and toys.
Location and balcony. Restaurant on site
No elevator. Difficulty getting luggage to room. No assistance.
Great location to the university, clean and affordable.
Location and breakfast were exceptionally great
It was a little moldy around the base of the shower door
Great location to the University. Room was clean.
The shower splattered water on the floor.
Everything was exceptional. Great staff extremely professional and friendly. Great place to stay very clean and easy to find. Had a great stay Very close to Hocking Valley Scenic Railways♡ Thank You For Everything
Nothing ♡!
Nice hotel and restaurant. Staff was outstanding.
Nothing
The room was spotless and the food was exceptional
Very nice room and the staff was excellent.
All halls smell massively of cleaning products....really strong. Need to change cleaning products! Excessive animal fee.
Spotless, beautifully appointed rooms. Helpful staff. Outstanding restaurant on site. As Nice a hotel room as we have ever stayed in.
Quiet location, nice large rooms, comfortable bed and linens. Good restaurant on site so we could relax after long travel day. Very friendly staff!!
Some areas on the premises were a bit tired.
Location, staff
Walking distance to university.
Facility was clean. Staff was very friendly
The bed was very hard and the pillows uncomfortable.
Parking was horrible. Parked outside of the construction zone on opposite side of the property. Had to walk quite a way to the room.
Good location. Buildings had a classic look. Spacious shower. Great patio and outdoor space. Starbuck on premises. Free parking.
Some of the hallways had steps in them. CoffeemaTV. Didn't work and there were no creamer packets. The air conditioning hum was constant and very distracting. The hum interfered with the tv.
I love this hotel very nice, clean and quiet
They don’t have water or coffee at the rooms
Visit this hotel twice a year. The only issue this time was the employees were sweeping while we were eating. I had to ask that they hold off until after we finished.
I am an OU alumna and sad to write this review. I have chosen the OU Inn for years -- not because it's the most modern option (it isn't), not because it's the closest to campus (it isn't), and not because the rooms justify the price gouging that comes with Mom's Weekend (they don't). I chose it for the nostalgia... and the sense that as a member of the OU community, this was my hotel. I won't be making that mistake again. Here's what happened: I booked a room for Mom's Weekend 2026 a full year in advance -- because that's what you have to do when a hotel decides that one weekend a year justifies a $500/night rate. Fine. Supply and demand - I get it. What I didn't get was any reminder. Every hotel I've stayed at across the world -- and I travel frequently -- sends a "We're looking forward to seeing you this week" days before check-in. The OU Inn, apparently, has not discovered this technology. Instead, I received a reminder email at 7:10 PM -- after check-in had already passed. Not so useful. When I called and acknowledged my own mistake -- I genuinely did forget -- I wasn't asking for a free pass. I asked only to cancel the second night, understanding I'd eat the cost of the first. The response? A rigid recitation of the 48-hour cancellation policy by River at the front desk. On a sold-out Mom's Weekend. When hotels in Athens are turning people away for months before. The idea that they couldn't rebook that room -- on the busiest weekend of the year -- is either dishonest or incompetent. And then the cherry on top: I received a cancellation confirmation email Saturday morning, which gave me genuine hope that someone with a pulse had reviewed my situation and done the right thing. Nope. Turns out the system auto-cancelled when I missed check-in -- and then staff **manually re-entered my reservation knowing full well I wasn't coming.** That is not a clerical error. That is a choice. I have kids at OU now. I will be making the trip from California multiple times a year for the next three years. I was fully prepared to be a reliable, repeat customer -- someone who picks the OU Inn on principle, even when better options exist. That's what loyalty looks like. What I experienced in return was rigidity, indifference, and staff that were, frankly, rude about it. To management: you had every tool to make this right. A waitlist. A goodwill gesture. Basic human flexibility on the most in-demand weekend of your year. You chose none of them. For $450 (refund for one night), you've lost a customer who was already sold on you.
The room was very clean
Friendly staff clean room
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They were even wonderful with our dog. The restaurant had great food and it was convenient for a late night snack and breakfast the next morning.
Nothing. Would gladly stay again.
Close to OU’s campus, this hotel seems to be updated and was very welcoming. Room had a refrigerator and microwave. It was clean and comfortable. Bed had a variety of pillows and was very comfortable. Hairdryer in bathroom. We were in the wing in the back of the building and exterior door required key to access. Felt safe and secure. Staff was helpful and efficient. We forgot our parking pass for the college tour and they printed it for us. Definitely recommend!
Great location for visiting OU. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. Pleasant atmosphere and staff. Easy check in/out and great amenities. Bonus Starbucks coffee on site made for a better morning =)
Other hotels at this price point in the area do provide breakfast, but it was worth the tradeoff for the location and ability to obtain quality meals on site.
The front desk staff are helpful and welcoming and the tavern staff are just as nice and welcoming to travelers.
I've stayed a number of Mondays since February and in the last two weeks. I have experienced there a couple of issues with linen (first was unclean sheets) which I was given clean sheets to remake my bed with later...then this week it was a dirty towel hanging off the back of the shower door. YOU wonder where the change in quality of clean has gone?

The Ohio University Inn & Conference Center is a comfortable and well-maintained place to stay in Athens. The rooms are clean, quiet, and perfect for university visitors, conferences, and campus events. Its location near Ohio University makes it very convenient for students, parents, and academic professionals. For students visiting the campus and planning their academics, tools like the Ohio University GPA Calculator are helpful to understand grading requirements and performance expectations: https://gradewisecalculator.com/ohio-university-gpa-calculator/ Overall, a pleasant stay with a great academic-friendly atmosphere.
The wallpaper with OU's classic buildings in the bathroom.
No open hours for the restaurants
It was clean and staff were very friendly.
Seemed to be priced too high for the type of hotel it was.
Bed was comfortable
Room location Parking difficult Decor very dated
The location was beautiful. Nestled in lots of charm and beautiful nature! The restaurant options were great.
Need a indoor swimming pool
Great location. Friendly staff. Extremely clean. Great bar and restaurant.
Very comfortable and welcoming
The Inn offers nice rooms with outside patio with certain main floor rooms. Interior amenities were fine. There were all the little extras expected, like mini frig, coffee maker, desk and TV. The programing on the TV was met our needs. /the staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating. We found the restaurant and bar an especially nice addition to the other comfortable factors of the Inn. The food was very good and reasonably priced. It looked like the Inn had been recently renovated making for a clean and neat appearance.
I was a little disappointed in the "handicap accessible" description of the room. We were on one level, but the bathroom, although it had numerous safety bars both in and out of the shower, did not present an actual walk-in shower. It was a tub with a low step-in which meant that my husband still needed assistance in entering the shower. My expectation was a walk-in or roll-in shower. Had he been in a wheel chair, we would not have been able to get him in this shower. Perhaps, a better description would have been "Limited Handicap Accessible" Also, it would have been helpful to have a TV program chart.
Very nice place. Rooms have been renovated, beds are comfortable. The staff is friendly, and the food is excellent! It is very nicely decorated too.
We loved our room. Bed was super comfortable. Loved the lamps. Bright light and nice quality and they worked not like some other hotels i have stayed at. Went to the bar and ordered a drink and we had the cheese and meat tray. There was two of us and we couldn’t finish it. Enough for three and we got the half order. it was very good. I will definitely stay here again. Staff was very friendly also from front desk to the guy waiting on us. Highly recommend!

The location is perfect! The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The bed was comfortable and the pillows are fluffy!
My room had a strong smell of stale cigarette smoke. I had to spray perfume in the room to try to cover the smell.
Breakfast was good.
The price was extremely high for the room!😕. The walls were extremely thin-heard everything from the people next door and in the hall.☹️ In room coffee pot didn’t work!😟
nice, clean large room.
Breakfast was expensive.
