Hyatt Place Athens Downtown

I had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. The location is excellent—convenient to everything and a great place to stay whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, but what really stood out was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, professional, and attentive. The level of service was exceptional, and they genuinely made me feel welcomed and taken care of throughout my stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great location, comfortable accommodations, and outstanding service. I look forward to staying here again!

Location is awesome and the parking structure is a bonus for downtown walking.

The location is convenient to the Georgia Center and a block from downtown's restaurants and shops. The bed was comfortable and the products in the shower were great. The room is spacious with a big corner couch. They offer free parking for your car by giving you a pass to get in and out of the parking garage.

I wish the blinds were not sheer and could be darker. There were splotches of paint all around the bathroom, the carpet had frays. The elevator made a weird whirring sound when in use, and it would tell me 'no access' a few times when I would push the button for the lobby and my floor even though I would scan my key card until I finally worked. The phone didn't work when I tried to do express check out so I went down to the desk personally. There were only two spots to use to park while going inside to register and the fit was really tight. Once I had gotten my access to the parking garage, it was a little confusing how to get from the parking garage back to the hotel to access the room-keys.

Great location, reasonably priced, responsive staff (thank you Rock) clean rooms, and must try chicken fingers/tenders (seriously)! The rooftop patio/bar is a nice spot to unwind or just to get a quick view of Athens.

Great location and hotel. Easy walking distance to the UGA campus (if you are okay with walking places). Great rooftop bar makes it an evening destination and not just a place to sleep. And the staff is super, super friendly. And you gotta love Hyatt Place breakfasts.

The physical building is lovely but it’s on a street with a bunch of strip clubs and the staff is the least accommodating for a 5 star hotel I’ve ever been to- the check in took almost 45 min and there was poor communication about when kitchen’s closed and NO flexibility. They also gave my friend a room with people in it… not great

My daughter booked through hotel and d got her room for 189/night. I booked through booking.com and got it for 259/night. Makes me question the value of booking.com. same nights, same hotel.

Great stay! We stopped in Athens to check out U of GA and decided to stay over night. The hotel was last minute and an excellent stay. They did everything correctly. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise with great eggs, bacon, sausage, yogurt bar, fresh fruit…. It was real food and really tasty. Our room was clean and we felt very safe. Such a beautiful hotel in a beautiful spot. I highly recommend it!

The hotel is very nice, but the restaurant and bar are extremely understaffed and take a very long time to get your orders.

Stayed for our anniversary to enjoy the downtown Athens area. The hotel was convenient to the downtown area. Our room was spacious and the bed was comfy. We loved the Hybar on the roof.

This is a great hotel in a great location. I was there with my daughter for orientation at UGA. The room was very nice and comfortable. I was able to walk to get something to eat close by. I was able to bring back the food I didn't finish and place it in my in room refrigerator. Bed was comfortable. plenty of pillows and blankets.

Customer service was exceptional! Beautiful clean rooms. Fantastic, delicious breakfast - Emmalee went above and beyond to be kind and offer assistance. Brittney and others at the front desk were also so welcoming and helpful. Staff everywhere offered a smile, a hello and asked if they could be of help. Such a blessing. Great location to get to restaurants and stores. It was a wonderful “graduation” weekend.

It had a great location to the downtown.

The price was pretty expensive and the hotel was full of kids running around including in the elevators. There was some sort of kids convention going on and they were practicing in the hallways between rooms. The kids ran in front of us to get in the elevator first. The kids really were not being supervised.

Perfect Athens location. Hotel is highly recommended if you need to be close to campus and downtown. I'm a big fan. They took very good care of myself and my fraternity brothers for a reunion.

Very typical Hyatt Place with inferior globalist recognition. I know the price is reflective of the location, but I expected this hotel to be somewhat elevated at nearly 4x the points cost of similar HPs. I was not recognized as a globalist during my stay and was not upgraded to even a high floor room despite high floor rooms (and suites) clearly showing as available. When I checked in, the clerk did not give any information about the amenities (time for breakfast, parking details) without me asking directly. She did not offer water. When I requested water later in the day, I had to haggle with the clerk to get two bottles (she stated I was entitled to one).

In town for a funeral. Very nice hotel. Room was clean. Breakfast was very good. Only thing I didn’t like was no microwave in the room.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Place Athens/Downtown for the 2026 Georgia Science & Engineering Fair (GSEF), and I cannot say enough about the phenomenal experience we had. While the hotel itself is beautiful and perfectly located, it was the staff—specifically Rock and Megan—who made our stay truly unforgettable. Traveling for a major competition can be stressful, but Rock went out of his way to ensure my son’s stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. He has a natural gift for hospitality and made us feel like VIPs from the moment we arrived. Both Rock and Megan went consistently above and beyond to make certain we were pleased with every aspect of our stay. Their attention to detail, warmth, and proactive service are the sole reasons we will be returning to this location in the future. It is rare to find staff who care this deeply about the guest experience. We have already begun recommending this Hyatt to others booking trips to Athens, GA. If you want a stress-free stay with a team that treats you like family, this is the place to be. Thank you, Rock and Megan, for being a part of our son's big week where my son placed Top 5 in his category!

Perfect location for easy downtown access. This is our go to hotel for visits to Athens. Breakfast is great and included. The roof top bar offers gorgeous views of the city. Rooms are clean spacious and up to date. TV was the only thing in the room that could be updated. Using points makes this a GREAT value!

It took a while to actually get a room. We had to keep going up to the desk to check to see if our room was ready. We ended up having to go get an early dinner while we waited. It was well after check in time.

We loved this hotel! It is in a great location. Our room had a great view of downtown Athens. It is modern, clean and the staff was friendly. It is close to shopping and dining..we could walk everywhere. Walkable to the Akins Arena. They do need to work on their elevators as they are pretty slow, but we had a great experience.

This is an adequate hotel, but I must say it has the most messed up elevator service I have ever experienced. Registration is hard to find, so I parked in the 15 minute spot and began my search. Once found it was time to move my car and park. The elevator from the parking garage was not working when I arrived so I shlepped my bags up to my floor. There is a completely different set of elevators for the hotel than for the parking garage! When I came down for breakfast the next day I was met with two sets of buttons in the car, one a push button and one a push screen. Both work, but only sometimes. My first attempt I was denied access to the main floor! I took it to the 2nd floor and walked down. Finally after two days there I figured out the elevator. Room was fine, food was fine, but probably won't be back.

Had a private reservation for the GMEA All-State weekend at the Classic Center. Convenient parking deck, good breakfast. Cleanliness was okay. Check in was a little chaotic due to large groups checking in. The entrance door to our room had damage - looked like someone had tried to break into at some point. The room has definitely been well used and was showing some age/wear & tear. Overall clean, but then we found a carpet beetle in the bed our last night there and started questioning cleanliness. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to speak with a daytime manager before they left to discuss this.

I always enjoy staying at the Hyatt in Athens. Very convenient to the Classic Center and an easy walk to downtown Athens.

Room is nice and clean. Breakfast is wonderful. It is usually very good, but this trip was not. No hot water on Friday morning before we had to go to a meeting and the garage elevator wasn't working at all. Only 2 of the 3 elevators in the hotel were working. I have stayed here before and it was a wonderful experience, so I'm not sure what happened this time.

Everything the main thing I like is you have to use your key to use the elevator that’s the best.

The cost is alot for the city of Athens. This is a good hotel but for that price I would expect LUXURY. When you pay a mortgage payment for 2 night I expect more. And the elevator in the parking garage was broken and you could not get to the roof top bar.

The room was comfortable, quiet, and thoughtfully set up, and the location was perfect—close to everything while still feeling peaceful.

The property was clean and well done, a good value for the ate. The staff was courteous and the breakfast was very good. of note was the clerk at check in who remembered me from my stay the previous week and gave me a little "welcome" snack bag that was appreciated.

Wow. Can’t recommend this hotel enough. We usually stay at other chain hotels but this one was much cheaper this time. We loved it and will stay again. Very clean, updated, great location, and the breakfast is the best hotel breakfast we have ever had.

It was a clean, quiet stay. Staff very friendly and I requested no services during my two day stay. I have relatives in the area so I will be back.

The room was clean and inviting. The staff members were all so nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet had a lot of options, and the hotel was right next to the venue I was going to for New Years Eve.

Our stay was wonderful. We attended a concert next door and loved the convenience.
