It is a beautiful old house; it was warm and comfortable. With helpful and friendly staff.

We could not get our car through the hotel parking gate; car was wider than the gate so had to park in the street. The area is still very noisy at night with clubs or pubs close by.

This is my 2nd stay at the property, an indication that I like it and feel very comfortable.

My wife felt it was very cold in the bedroom. There is one wall heater which was not sufficient.

137 High Street is a little Gem of a guest house. Rala took care of every need we had, the rooms are large and spacious, secure parking for the car, very central to all the schools we needed to get to, the best little coffee shop / eatery right next door and walking distance to chemists and checkers which when you are on tour you always need as a kid always needs something. So a very convenient top quality happy stay. Thank you Rala.

The location is excellent.

I had to pay an additional R750 for an early check-in. I had to check out at 5 pm because the reception was closing. I didn't stay overnight but my total bill was almost double of what I would have paid if I had stayed overnight and checked out the following morning.

Friendly staff who shared where to go for food and which areas of the city to avoid. Remembered what we did and asked about it the next time they saw us.

Loved everything about the guest house

The location of the property. It was very easy to find and was in walking distance of restaurants.

All the gates and doors one has to open on your retainer back from being out. Lightning is very poor and then you have to try and find the right key to open the locks/doors. It is also very noisy as it is alongside a bar that actually only closes at 6 am in the morning.

A comfortable stay for an overnight stop. The host was accommodating and available for a late arrival. The room was clean and comfortable.

It is a lovely historical place, next to the university, the rooms are large and the beds are very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and always tries to help.

Friendly staff, clean, great value. Charming old guesthouse with character. Outside can look underwhelming at first, but inside is comfy, clean, characterful and comfortable. Great restaurant next door for an evening bite and drink. .

The room given was just exposed the rentees to a lot of noise from the street side (external factors), but the stay was a 10/10).

From the warm welcome to the facilities, everything was very good, ideally located when visiting my son at the Saint Andrew s college nearby.

The property was clean, the staff were kind and diligent, the location was great as it was close to the university.

The room can be cold during a gloomy day and the wall mounted heater does not warm the room up quickly enough. I had some problems with the shower in the first few nights of my stay (the shower head was blocked which meant the water flow was not good), but that was resolved with no repetition of the problem.

High street guest house is a little homey home. A peaceful little spot thats a comfort bubble. The room was extra cozy and I appreciate that there are electric blankets and heaters cause it was super cold. I also enjoyed the breakfast which was always served with such love. The staff members are also all so sweet and helpful and they keep the place spotless. I felt welcome and well looked after 🤗❤️

I wish the dining section didn’t close up cause having to go wan up food in the microwave outside is such a hustle especially at night.

The location was excellent. I could walk to where I had to be on the Rhodes campus. The guest house is very close to the Arch/Drostdy entrance. I stayed in the self-catering flat. There is a full kitchen (stove with oven, microwave, kettle, fridge with freezer compartment, utensils, crockery, etc.). The bed was warm and comfortable with a good (hot) shower in the bathroom. There is safe parking behind a security gate and good Wi-fi.

Although everything was useable, some of the kitchen utensils needed attention. For example, scouring/cleaning of pans or possibly replacement. And the same for the mismatched "sets" of cutlery and crockery. It could feel much more homely if the above is taken care of. Although it did not impact my sleep and work I was aware of noise in the evenings (music and chatter) from nearby venues in the evenings until fairly late at night. This may bother other travellers, so something to be aware of.

I was there for the National Arts festival the location at the top of High Street is excellent for the festival. Good hearty cooked breakfast. Friendly staff that are helpful and knowledgable.

I stayed there 2 years ago and would return again. Nothing I can think of.

Reception closed at 4 pm, as did access via the front door on High street The bar was not operational at all. Would have been nice to come back in the late afternoon and have a drink - or have a drink before setting off for dinner.

Perhaps flip the mattress occasionally. It was a bit flat on the side closest to the bathroom
