The location was great! Could use an update overall!
Very reasonably priced options and excellent service
Noticed a couple of maintenance needs such as the window in our room
Location was the only good thing
It was run down & definitely overpriced
Location was great
Dirty pillow case, AC made a terrible noise all night, hair in the shower on arrival.
Our room was dirty found old cups underneath the bed for what we paid wont go back
Location.
The room was not clean. There was stains on bedding.
Location, but it’s not worth money - it’s better book nice modern hotel for reasonable price and use car/taxi/bus
They freeze 150 dollars as a deposit and not return within promised period - now it’s about week- and money still not returned . Staff is incompetent- for example I ask about ferry boat to Providence ( it’s about 100 meter from hotel) - they not aware
Location was great.
Bathroom shower curtain was broken
The location
Windows over looking harbor were filthy
Location was perfect. Balcony over looking the harbor and walking distance to so many places
The staff at the hotel could not have been any nicer or friendlier. The rooms were dated, and I heard from the staff that they are building a new hotel. Everything was clean, and the beds were comfortable.
I thought the parking charge at $35 per day was a bit stiff, as we didn't use the car at all during our stay. The location was so good we didn't need to drive anywhere.
Location
The hotel needed a very needed remodel. The elevator buttons did not work, paint peeling off the balcony etc.
We had a horrible experience at this hotel. They are booked solidly and very very obviously do not care about customer satisfaction. Our rooms had a bunch of things wrong such as broken coffee box, broken TV, no shampoo or body wash in the pumps, our refrigerators were unplugged when we got there so we couldn't chill down drinks for almost 24 hours by the time it got cold enough. There was the same trash and dirty laundry in hallway for the 48 hours we stayed. We reported all things to the staff 3x and each time they said someone would take care of it n, nothing happened. Felt like the Twilight zone. Bunch of zombie millennials on their phones running the joint. Beware ...almost $500/ night for a dirty, poorly run, run down gross hotel..
By far our home away from home. We have returned for 18 years due to the fantastic staff and attention that they give to ALL. Location of the Hotel is ideal, everything is so close, restaurants, shops, Marina, and Bowens and Bannister wharf. This is a perfect summer vacation spot. For us the major reason we return year after year is how we are treated by ALL STAFF. We feel like family with each return visit.
Great location
Rooms were dated, service was severely lacking, housekeeping didn’t come to clean the rooms, staff was not knowledgeable.
Location and indoor pool
Not enough parking - you pay for parking but are not guaranteed space. Discontinued free breakfast. Extremely slow and small elevators. Rooms were not kept well.
The location. The wait staff at the restaurant.
The bathroom tub wouldn’t drain. The elevator was very small and very slow but it’s an old property.
Location
Toliet paper wasn’t on a dispenser first day. Only received 3 towels on second day despite being 4 guests. Called for additional towel and nothing came. Needed to use a hand towel or would have been late for dinner reservation. WIFI hardly receptive on the 4th floor and far side from the reception. Showers on the 1st floor by pool were moldy. Restrooms were not very clean.
Location to shopping and ferry to the Jazz Fest.
Outdated, lumpy pillows, small bathroom.
Location
Needs a little remodeling - bathroom needs to be updated
Extremely expensive but a really lousy hotel. Great location but not worth it. The hotel has the feel of a Motel 6. Dated. Extremely small and ineffective bathrooms. The water was coming out brown when we stayed there. Others confirmed it was happening throughout the hotel. The worst part was the stream of extra charges that were not disclosed. Be prepared to pay hundreds more than you were quoted. Example: a huge charge for using a credit card!! It explained why the guy checking out in front of me was counting out over $5,000 in cash!! The worst value hotel I have ever encountered.
Sebastián was incredibly helpful and kind. Exceptional service. We really enjoyed our trip
Sebastian at the front desk was amazing! He made our trip great!
Excellent location with good outdoor areas
Rooms and general decor a little basic for the cost
Location
The morning clerk Michael took a long time to have the shower issue addressed. Kept asking more questions each time I inquired. Repeatedly gave excuse he was busy, though I approached him early in the morning with issue. For the price, rooms should be nicer and attention paid to the run down details.
Location great. Room was dirty - mold on shower curtain, toothpaste spatters in mirror and walls, etc. had to crawl under bed to get bedside lamps plugged in. No dehumidifier in bathroom. Elevator took forever. Always a wait. Charged $20 for an umbrella that flipped inside out and tore within 10 yards of exiting hotel to meet our taxi.
The best part of this hotel is the location. The hotel needs a major facelift. It is dirty and housekeeping is terrible. The staff is well meaning but not informed and unable to explain to guests especially when it comes to reconciling the bill I would stay again ONLY when the hotel falls under new ownership/ management Gets a thorough cleaning and revamp and hires a truly professional hotel staff
Location
The old outdated pool
I stayed at the Newport Hotel & Marina for 2 nights. It was 2 nights too long. It was so dirty . I had to ask for a new remote because it was so disgusting I couldn’t use it. The toilet was filthy just awful. They had to replace my tv because I couldn’t get any channels . But if the loud A/C came on the tv wouldn’t work! When I brought this to the front desk, their answer was we’re going to be renovating. I responded what does that have to do with it being filthy? The beds were all torn up . They advertise a restaurant. If you want to call a run down restaurant with tables outside. Ridiculous at over $500 a night plus you pay $35 a day plus tax for parking ???? They also charge a”destination fee” of $35 a day plus tax this is for WIFI ! Yes it’s located near everything so is the Brent and the Marriott . If I could give less than 1 star I would!!! I wouldn’t stay at this hotel if it were paid for. The only thing that was positive is there were no bed bugs. After the toilet and remote I definitely checked !!!!!
The value of the room and experience for the hotel class is unbeatable. The location and price are unbeatable. Yes, the hotel could be updated, but it’s amazing to be able to enjoy Newport at a reasonable price. The rooms were nice enough and everything else about it made it a great experience. Kim treated us wonderfully, the back of the hotel on the marina is a great place to hang and the restaurant was so much better than I expected. Highly recommend!
We had a great stay at Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina. The rooms are good, clean and serviced daily. The location is outstanding, everything is at your doorstep. Saltwater restaurant had a great breakfast and fun entertainment. On site parking is a plus in downtown Newport. The staff all around was friendly. Would definitely go back.
My favorite hotel to stay at in Newport because of its location.
This my be a booking.com problem. When I booked, the site says parking is included but the hotel wanted to collect $35 per day for parking on my check out.
The property is located in a perfect spot, walking to downtown and other areas very close and simple.
Just a little dated, but still nice
LOCATION is ideal! Easy to walk everywhere, clean rooms and helpful staff. It worked for a last minute booking, and price was fair.
Nice location
The fact it is right by Bowen’s Wharf, Thames street and has. Free parking for hotel guest made exploring easy. Plus being by the marine was a great experience to wake up to
The hotel itself was outdated. The shower had tissue in the shower upon arrival, bookings were cancelled outside of my knowledge moving us to a room we didn’t originally want. Bed sheets were stained as well
Location
So run down. Our shower had two massive bubbles from the bathroom above us. They came to fix it and made it worse. No fault to the engineer. It’s the property management and owner that should be completely ashamed!!!!!! We stayed in May as well and had similar issue with under the tub when you stood on it you could feel flooding under the floor. Repulsive. Yet we still decided to give it another chance.
Very poor experience. As soon as I entered the room, I was attacked by fleas, which bit my ankles.
Very pleasant
Small room, not very comfortable
The location was beautiful and convenient
Run down for the cost. Simple things could have been done to spruce things up. Seemed like nothing was done to prepare for the summer season.
This hotel is exceptionally well located, on the harbor and next to the best shops. This is the only reason to stay at this hotel. It is very old and is really like a low 3 star hotel.
Location is prime. Wonderful breakfast from hotel restaurant, which we paid for it was not included. That is where the good stuff ends. I expect more from a $400 a night hotel. The room had cheap finishes, and I mean cheap and for lack of a better word, kind of grody. Balcony was another disappointment. Nice view with 2 cheap and very dirty outdoor chairs & it was also grody. What I did not appreciate was the $110 charge that showed up on my credit card once I got home. When I checked out of the hotel they told me since I booked through expedia they would send me an invoice. No mention of the hotel charge of $110 that showed up on my card when I got home. I knew I had to pay for parking which was $40. Apparently, they charge you for the 2 cans of water in the room ( which we never touched ), coffee in the lobby and bikes and paddle boards. We had no idea they had bikes and paddle boards. When we checked in no one ever mentioned any of this. I work hard for my money like many folks. When I splurge on something like this I expect to get what I pay for. So now I am left feeling ripped off and unhappy.
Lage, Parkplatz
Etwas unmodern , Parken zu teuer
Very dated
Water was brown Our room was gross Had to complain to front desk. They moved us to another room. This room was clean but very dated.
Convenient and staff was exceptional
No fan in the bathroom
Not much at all
Restaurant closed inside, terrible bed, stains on carpet. Staff is unhappy
Top lage . Auch parkplatz Preis für das in Ordnung.
Unsere Reservierung wurde nicht gleich gefunden (passiert) allerdings kam es dann zur doppelten Abbuchung, hatte bereits bei booking.com bezahlt
Hotel rooms are DATED! They can change the mattress and change the carpeting and some furniture.
Change the furniture and bedding
1 Stains on carpet, like poop. Restaurant closed inside. HC room has full bed for one not two. Rude services overall
The dynamic pricing did not match the level of service received! No maid service and for $922 a night that should have been a given. No new waters in room each day. Charged for parking on last day at hotel.
The housekeeper was so friendly and helpful. She checked in on us daily. Super friendly staff all around dining and hotel. Great location in Newport. We loved our stay.
Proximity of the hotel to many attractions.
Non existent value for money . I inquired about the perks available to customers, a gentleman informed me “two complimentary water, WiFi & coffee.” No gym , no outdoor pool & to add insult to injury, parking is $30 nightly .
Awesome walkable location, clean rooms, Friendly Staff. 1st time staying in a Walk-out, ( I highly recommend it.( Ground floor, level with Marina.) or any hardor view room.
I have stayed here more than 10 times over the years for my annual conference and pleasure. The location and back lawn marina views can't be beat - walk to everything and has parking (for a daily fee!). The hotel definitely needs an upgrade with outdated /tired room decor and an a/c unit that was struggling to keep up with the afternoon sun that had baked my room to 85 degrees (sun facing and the curtains were left open). Limited charging options /outlets in the room. But most important the Bed was comfy! And room has a mini fridge, coffee maker. They had two free canned waters in the room which was nice - and a large jar of "spa water" in the lobby for guests to drink. The staff are all so friendly, helpful and welcoming. We had a BBQ dinner that was supposed to be on the lawn Outback overlooking the marina, which would have been gorgeous with the fire and firepit and cornhole, but the staff had to pivot due to pending thunderstorms so we were inside a conference room instead- but the food was delicious!! They put on a great spread and made the best of it. Nice outdoor bar that is covered with a tent if you want shade or it is sprinkling, or the option to sit in the sun on the deck. With the live music next door on Bowen's wharf it is a bonus! Be prepared to wait to check in during busy season- it is a small little lobby, with 2 desk attendants and no option to check in on your phone or get a room key on your phone like large hotel chains .
I have full paid the room via Agoda. But my card was charged $26.xx after checking out. Asked the hotel and explained it was only a pending. When I received the credit card statement, it was actually charged $77.35 with a refund of $37.45, all these strange charges without explanation.
Location and room size + breakfast lady very good. Front office staff a little standoff-ish
Rooms getting a little tired
This hotel has one of the best locations in all of Newburgh. The entire hotel could use a little sprucing up, but it is still a wonderful place to stay
Great location, in walking distance to all the restaurants and entertainment. The staff was amazing ! Gave great recommendations . Our room was water front, the sunset was beautiful.
Location and friendly staff.
Limited vanity space in bathroom. Poor lighting since no overhead lights. TV needs to-be updated.
We had a wonderful time in Newport! The staff was friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. I truly appreciated the time and effort they put into making sure we had a great experience. I highly recommend the first-floor rooms that walk directly out to the harbor. They were bright, clean, comfortable, and the view was amazing. The outdoor fire pit and lawn games were an added bonus and made it easy to relax and enjoy the beautiful waterfront setting. The location is fantastic, and the outstanding customer service made our stay even more memorable. We would happily stay here again!
Great location, within walking distance of restaurants and the Harbor Walk. It was easy to find small streets on the hill with houses related to Newport History, with their QR codes to scan. We were lucky to witness 3 different incredible sunsets from our room, as well as varied harbor activities.
Here for the weekend - but weather turned rainy & windy, so went to the lounge but closed for an event. Then all the staff accommodated us while they set up for the event with food & beverage & friendly service even though "closed". Saved our day!
The bed was very comfortable. Lovely sunset view from the balcony overlooking the harbor. The location is perfect for exploring the wharves of Newport by foot. A wonderful home base. Room was clean and comfy. Staff was very nice.
Location
Beds mattresses could be updated
Hotel staff were friendly and were able to accommodate us early so that we had time to get ready for an event we were attending that evening. The room was small but the view was amazing of the harbor. There was some water damage in our room from a leaky shower and there were no USB outlets in the room (also no pen which is odd). Loved that the window opened so you can get fresh air, but over all the hotel is solid but just needs an update. The restaurant was really nothing special. We went for breakfast and felt it was just okay. Not really worth the $40 price tag when there are so many other options right there. The location of this place is the big selling point. It is easy to get to, easy to walk around Bowen's Warf and surrounding areas. We loved getting to see the boats and hanging out outside in the early morning hours.
Rooms were old and worn for the price and location of the hotel. Property needs updating and renovations. Would not stay again.
Everything went well. I had no complaints.
Location.
This hotel is in an ideal location for a Newport holiday. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The historical district is nearby. The bus and trolley stop is close. The pool is a nice temperature. The only misgiving I have is that the room was a bit musty smelling.
Our experience was fine except for the $35 convenience fee they charge at checkout. I asked what it was for and they said for internet and the free waters they gave us in the room. The waters aren’t free if they charged $35. I didn’t even use their internet. Very disappointed in this policy after paying so much for the room and parking.
Location
Needs renovation.
Stayed here for my wedding weekend and was disappointed by how outdated everything was. The curtains had holes in them and the carpet was stained. Our waterfront room (which we paid significantly more money for) had a faulty door that did not shut all the way. Despite this, the location of the hotel is impeccable and can't be beat. Michael Scott was extremely kind and helpful and our rehearsal dinner went off without a hitch thanks to Robyn Chapman. Our stay was made by the fact that we were with family and friends for our wedding, but overall I would not stay here again based on the outdated aesthetic and price for what you get.
Very disappointing. It’s a very old hotel that needs to be upgraded. Way overpriced. We asked for our room to be cleaned. They said they don’t do that mid stay.
Plus - could really walk and explore the many streets of Newport from location. The hotel itself is a tired, low service Hotel
The location is amazing.we chose the property for it. The staff was lovely.
Outdated. Needs a refresh. Bathroom faucet was loose and the insert on the bathtub was not properly affixed so you felt as though you were showering on a bubble. The furniture in the room although clean was outdated and sparse.. our room was missing either a chair or an ottoman as other rooms had that feature.. the TV was also old and the mechanics in how it was hooked up to the wall switch was a bit odd..
For the price paid for our corporate event at the Newport Hotel and Marina in Newport, RI, I was extremely disappointed. The conference room assigned to us was too small for our group, which made sessions feel cramped and unprofessional. Despite communicating dietary needs in advance, food allergy requests were not taken into consideration, putting some attendees in an uncomfortable and potentially unsafe position. On top of that, providing drink tickets instead of proper hosted service came across as cheap and not in line with the image a corporate event should project. My guest room experience was equally unsatisfactory. The room was uncomfortably hot, the air conditioning did not work, and the issue was neither fixed nor meaningfully addressed during my stay. The bed was lumpy, lacked support, and offered a poor night’s sleep, while the pillows were flat and ineffective. Overall, the property fell far short of expectations for a corporate event venue, and I would hesitate to recommend it to colleagues or clients.
Second rate hotel. Very tired. Room over looked marina. The nearby restaurant/bar had a live band that played until 1:00 am. The noise level in my room for HOURS was 55-75 decibels! I got absolutely zero sleep until the bar closed. The absolute worse hotel stay I have ever had.
