Convenience next to ICC

On checking in I did inform reception that I have 2 seperate bookings for 2 days. On Sunday evening I realised that my room was not serviced due to me being checked out. I then had to be checked in again, then my room was serviced

Spacious room, good shower, good size TV.

No charging stations. Breakfast was terrible, the cornflakes, beef sausages had an after taste, may have been of inferior quality. I could taste and smell the oil in the scrambled eggs. The lifts were dysfunctional.

Convinience to Comrades Marathon expo

Absolutely not value for money, I paid R9000 for what? Everything was perfectly fine for normal hotels on the beach front which cost half the price.

The room was very spacious. I appreciated the views. The bed was big and comfy and the breakfast was simple buffet style with all the necessaries and extras. The gym was well set up and clean. The staff were super helpful and I look very forward to coming back

Overall welcome wasn't what what I would expect for a 4-5 star hotel. I expected to be helped with my luggage or being offered a trolley than people just looking at struggling with bags. It looks like the bookings are mostly done by bigger groups so the restaurant would be packed and noisy. Not that it affected the dishes but that resulted in having an overcrowded restaurant during my 3 day stay.

The room was clean at a glance but there were areas that needed thorough cleaning, my pillows smelled like cologne, there was dirt residue around my pedestal, it looked like it was not vacuumed properly, the AC was not working nicely, however staff was responsive which is great, the staff overall is great, please just ensure thorough cleaning full restock of things like shower gel especially for longer stays, the breakfast had the same items everyday, it gets tiresome after a 5 day stay. However, it is a wonderful hotel, please also fix the chairs, I sunk in quite a few of them as I was sitting, I think the cushioning in the chairs is finished. Thank you!

Chop and change the breakfast menu every other day, the cleaning - ensure the hard to reach areas are cleaned properly, clean the pillows as well and spray them to deodorise them, please get new couches and sofas.

Not able to rate at all. We were never able to stay these are per may many refund requests due to my back injury and operation no none was helpful at all. I would never recommend anyone using Booking.com or the Hilton or Royal Majestic or whatever.

Location to the ICC is great

Swimming pool was Green, maintenance has not been done since ownership change over. Staff contingency post a major event at the ICC was shocking. Room service menu is terribly presented, took forever to receive the menu and only two items were actually available from the menu. There is no information in the room with regards to how to dial reception or room service. Room had not be adequately cleaned, there were glass stains on the marble table and stains on the duvet cover. Hilton hotel branding was still all over.

I visited Durban in January, and I have to say I was shocked. I stayed at the Hilton in the CBD, and it was a ghost town. Breakfast got moved from the restaurant to the bar to the lounge as the occupancy was so low. I was advised to Uber everywhere, not walk, as the folks on the street were addicted to a cocktail of hiv medication, rat poison, heroin and the components that go into LED televisions. How did it get like this, and what is the warning to other cities? BTW, when the hotel advised that breakfast was moving they never advised that they were also closing the pool. Closing the pool during summmer is a big deal and part of what the guest is paying a premium for.

The holiday at Hilton hotel was a great experience. They had amazing breakfast and a decent à la cart dinner. The Rooms were always serviced, they always had the room cleaned and carpets looked freshly vacuumed and we were always provided fresh towels. There was no outside noise seeping into the room. Very peaceful. The hotel was a short drive away from the beach. Highly recommend the hotel.

The first room had a filthy stained carpet. The 2nd room shower would flow into the bathroom. A pool of water would collect around the toilet and outside the shower. This can cause serious injury.

There was nothing to not like

Wouldn't stay here again to be honest. Booked it initially because of location, brand reputation and that that it's classed as 5-star but the hotel itself is ageing and the amenities provided weren't up to a 5-star level. Pros: - The fitness centre is well-equipped and clean. Water and towels are replenished regularly. - The lobby is grand and staff were friendly during check-in and check-out. They helped us with our luggage each time. - There is a spa onsite which is great. - Rooms have both a shower and a bath tub which offers guests flexibility. - Room service was very quick for what we ordered (pizza) and it was tasty. - Black out curtains were great and blocked out the early morning sun. Cons: - Amenities that you would expect at a 5-star hotel were not provided. i.e. no slippers, bathrobes or hand towels. This was disappointing since I've been in 3-star hotels that provide all of these items, as well as a dental kit. It felt like here they were only giving the bare minimum. - Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are attached to the wall of the shower, meaning that its not very easy to use them if you're in the bath tub, unless you unclip each bottle from the shower wall. - The carpet was really aged, and needs to be replaced. - The pool area wasn't really attended too. Only one of the loungers had a cushion on it, the rest were just bare metal. - The window latch was also quite aged. Even though we were on the 10th floor, we could still hear noise from the traffic below. This may have been due to the window not closing properly due to the latch, or lack of soundproofing around the windows. - Dirty windows - We had brough some of our own glasses to use, which were distinct from the glasses provided by the hotel. These were taken from the room even though they shouldn't have been. We had to ask for them to be returned over multiple days, and only on third day of asking, were we told that one of the glasses had been broken and we would only get 1 back. Overall, it feels like the hotel has been a bit neglected.

The guy that helped me at the reception was very welcoming, I felt like I'm at my home, and I couldn't remember his name. The breakfast area waiters were very good to us, with my wife. The hotel is very clean. I will come again to visit. The sea view was marvelous 😍

I didn’t like the food for dinner. It was not delicious at all. The only thing that was a bit tasty on that buffet was chicken. The cocktail that I ordered(margarita), was bad. The taste was not nice at all.
