Staff really friendly. Food excellent
Bedroom very tired . Holes in the wall Bathroom mouldy Blinds broken No where to put clothes Bed uncomfortable and small
It is set in a lovely location in a town square. The bar was well decorated and all the staff was lovely and helpful. The bedroom was clean and the bed comfortable.
Our room had a broken window latch resulting in a cold draft in the early hours of the morning. This meant the room was cold. Some of the decor looked tired and needed a touch up.
Great room. Comfortable bed Excellent breakfast Helpful staff

Location
Tiny room sold as “luxury double” when the bed, a small double, filled the entire room. You could not even walk round it. Also, the “bathroom” was minute and not very well equipped. Breakfast also disappointing with little choice and indifferent service.
The staff food and room was lovely our 4th visit Definitely will return the breakfast is 5 star .
Superb pub. Sadly no dinner on Monday or Tuesday, which is a shame as we have eaten here before and it is excellent. The room is small, a little tired, but comfortable. Good value for money. The breakfast is however superb and worth the visit alone, I will always stay here as it is a lovely hotel with lovely staff.
The room is a little tired. There was no wifi in the room (room 4) and the tv is relatively small with freeview channels only. More importantly, there is no room to work in the room, but I am sure they would let you work downstairs in the public bar if you asked.
excellent breakfast
The food is perfect , the room was lovely. The staff can’t do enough for you. They are super helpful. The breakfast is amazing. That’s our second time staying there and we definitely be back.
There’s nothing I didn't like.
Nice, quiet and peaceful location! Comfortable room, id say a great value for what was paid! Star of the show was the breakfast and the coffee! I would 100% come back to stay here again!
Nothing to really dislike
The breakfast was lovely, I asked for bacon with my poached eggs and they were delicious and well presented. The setting is beautiful. There was also big fan in the room that I could use if needed because of the temperatures. Staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. I would definitely go back. Also it was spotlessly clean.
The parking
Great location
Everything the room, the view, the wine!
Modern and cosy and very clean
Friendly staff. Comfy bed.
Hallway very dark; Light did not come on when leaving the room,
lovely breakfast. Staff very friendly.
Not that easy to park
Excellent location, friendly staff, lovely cooked breakfast and well appointed bed room.
All good
Ideal location, alternative pillows available, pleasant staff and a decent breakfast
The stair carpets and paintwork everywhere were in awful condition- a horrible green; it made everything look dark. The bedroom and especially bathroom weren’t that clean. The bathroom sink was the size of a shoebox.
Very comfortable accommodation and a lovely bar and restaurant with a great breakfast
It’s a good location in a pleasant small town. Our room wasn’t large but fairly well appointed and adequate for a one night stay.
A disappointing overcooked breakfast, apart from the poached eggs. We kept having to ask for additional items: hot water for the tiny teapot, butter for the toast and marmalade which couldn’t be found at all.
Great location. The food and service are excellent.

We booked an overnight stay to break up our onward travel to Scotland. On our arrival, the welcome was friendly, the evening meal and (included) breakfast were both great, and our room (Room 1) was very comfortable and quiet. We had absolutely no negative experiences during our visit, and will stop at the Pickled Parson again the next time we travel up. Thanks to Matt/manager, Lorraine/breakfast service, and Lawrence/bar service for an enjoyable stay.
Breakfast was excellent staff friendly
Struggled parking but we arrived at school leaving time do lots of spaces after
Great central location, very friendly and helpful staff on arrival, and room was nice. Very comfortable bed and room, nice decoration, and good access for after-hours/late access. Lots of free parking on the street. Breakfast pre-order was good, tasty food and coffee.
Room was a little on the small side, OK for one person, but would advise you ring ahead if you're concerned about access. Shower controls a little tricky/stiff, but not an issue.
Breakfast was really good, room was spacious and comfy
Good location, clean, nice, simple decoration which I liked - fabulous breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff
A bit cold, coming bad late meant I came in the back way which was a bit dark and confusing
Good location, comfy bed and a good price. The bar man was very helpful.
My room was really dusty especially the bathroom which needed a refresh. Having to order breakfast the night before is irritating, also the choice lacked fresh fruit and yogurt. There was a wide void breakfast choice.
The location was in the centre of Sedgefield near the local shops and pubs. There is a farmers market the first Sunday of every month, which was a nice surprise. We had been asked to pre order breakfast which was fine and the breakfast itself was lovely. I would recommended the full English Breakfast.
There was not anything we did not like.
Staff were brilliant.
The door at the bottom of the stairs case open towards the stairs. Coming off a narrow steep stairwell wasn’t keen on it. Especially if someone had fallen.
Awesome breakfast and the pub itself is lovely.
The room was tiny, but it was well decorated and spotlessly clean.
Location Accommodated our bicycles Very helpful staff Good food and breakfast
Breakfast was great.
The hotel/bar was bright and the staff very welcoming. The room itself was very clean and comfortable and it is in a great location in the middle of Sedgefield.
The bathroom: severely in need of an update - in particular very difficult to regulate the shower as the controls were very stiff and the water extremely hot! The bathroom door didn't close properly - stuck at the top. The hallway, carpets etc. are very dingy and in need of serious renovation. Breakfast was OK but the coffee (requested 'Black Americano') was dire! Weak with coffee grounds floating in it.
Parking was easy. In the heart of the village. Breakfast was superb.
The corridor areas need a make over/new carpets
Was ideal for my stop overnight as I was working in the area, I have used the Pickled Parson before it is comfortable, quiet and clean
All good, nothing to dislike about the place
Good location, friendly helpful staff. Lovely breakfast
Room was very cold, none of the radiators worked. A oil radiator had been supplied which heated the bedroom but the bathroom was freezing cold. Drafty window which rattled all night in the wind leading to a very poor sleep. Bathroom was very small and compact with a lot of limescale build up on shower hose making it look very unsightly. Fair bit of maintenance needed in bathroom. Mattress was uncomfortable. Stained throw on bed and unsightly stains on carpet.
Location, friendly staff , great food
Small bathroom barely could fit on toilet wind noise/rattle from old windows (storm didn’t help)
Great atmosphere friendly staff and good choice of food and drink reasonably priced
Parking
The restaurant and bar facilities outweighed the hotel facilities
The room and decor both tired, the shower was a trickle.
Central village location, plenty of parking, felt very safe as a single woman traveller. Amazing breakfast. Friendly staff.
Everything was great for my stay.

Nothing
Lovely property in a great location, rooms were great and comfortable, staff were very helpful and attentive
No parking but found some on the street
Great location and excellent value for money. Friendly staff
Nothing we didn’t like
Excellent location for where we were attending the next day , the breakfast & evening meal was first class , the pubs were very also entertaining across the road
Can't say there was anything
Absolutely perfect staff really friendly room was clean and comfortable
The location was perfect for what we needed. Breakfast was spot on.
Everything was what we required.
This is not the first time we stayed here we always enjoyed coming to Sedgefield lovely place
Nothing
Very warm and welcoming by staff upon arriving (Harvey) met us and escorted us to our room very polite. Manager and var staff great, compliments to the chefs and our waitress in the mornings Brilliant will stay here again for sure.
Nothing a bother except a shelf would make a great difference in the shower to put your shampoo etc on .asI have an ileostmy bag fitted difficult to bend down .plus a little spruce up in room walls etc other than that brilliant.
Staff really friendly, room has everything you need, really good location.
Bathroom really cramped, soft mattress and pillows.
Everything, lovely breakfast, immaculate
Nothing
Location
It was noisy. The room is above the bar area so it's not quiet until 11 then the church bell rings every hour so expect that when you stay.
Location, room size, breakfast, staff
Bedroom 1 could hear the noise from bar/restaurant downstairs. Bathroom too hot and no way to turn radiator down. Heating noisy.
Super nettes Personal. Sehr zuvorkommend.
Lovely breakfast. Lovely staff. Rooms nice and good tea/coffee selection
Some areas looking tired in bedroom/bathroom. Very close rooms but to be expected and not a lot of noise heard.
Nice evening meal and staff very friendly
Next day no hot water or heating and the breakfast wasn't very hot at all
We had a evening meal here it was really nice Large portions and hot Staff very friendly
Next morning no hot water and breakfast wasn't very hot at all
It’s very central to the village.
Nothing!!! Loved the whole experience
Friendly staff, nice bar area, and great breakfast.
No dedicated car parking for guests so had to drive around for 15mins looking for street parking in local area. All rooms have to be accessed via very step, narrow staircase.
Location: excellent, Breakfast : nice, but expensive Room : Very Nice Price : Room : Very Good
High Price for Breakfast
Boiler system very loud during the night you cannot get a goodnight sleep
Very welcoming. Excellent staff and ideal location. Breakfasts were delicious.
Poor WiFi and shower pressure very poor.
Breakfast was excellent on both mornings.
We weren’t aware the bar area wouldn’t be available for coffee etc after we checked out at 1030. This meant we could have been in limbo before our pickup arrived at 1140. However, it was resolved as there was a free table for four near to the entrance where we were allowed to sit until being met.
Staff friendly
Room small very hot noisy access poor. Having to pre ordered breakfast & a time
Superb breakfast and location Great staff
Wifi
The welcome was good, quirky rooms and one of the best breakfasts I've had
There wasn't dedicated parking. The billing was a bit of a faff and took quite a bit of communication to resolve
The staff are fairly pleasant, although nobody from the hotel side was around in the morning to speak to about the issues we’d had. The meals we had in the restaurant were quite good too, although the burgers were very salty.
The bed felt like a small double, and the bathroom was not clean - mould in the shower grout, paint peeling on the walls, and a distinct unpleasant smell. The room was also too hot for us, even after turning the radiators off and opening the windows. Some other guests who either didn’t listen to the check-in instructions, or hadn’t been given the check-in instructions about the alarm system, attempted to use the front door at 1AM and set off the intruder alarm. This lasting for long enough that we both got up and dressed, thinking it was the fire alarm. It was incredibly loud and stress-inducing, and after that we had a fitful night’s sleep, only to be woken again in the early morning by the ludicrously loud plumbing system in the building - a sort of rhythmic thudding that vibrates through the room. This was not a boutique stay - not even a good stay - and we will not be returning.
Perfect stay. Excellent service, staff, food/drink and location
Nothing
The staff were pleasant and the village itself was lovely. The location on the green was good. Our main courses in the restaurant were great Breakfast plentiful if you like a cooked one. Liked the tunnocks.
Our room was covered in a layer of dust that made us sneeze, there was also a dirty toilet brush. Breakfast needed to have more variation, there was no fresh fruit, yoghurt options etc.
Breakfast was pleasant and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Room was dusty and cramped but the bed was very comfortable.
I expected more from the bedroom after paying £130. Carpets weren’t clean throughout and the bathroom was extremely cramped. No food available on the evening and we were directed to a neighbouring pub. A little disappointed
Staff were friendly and helpful
Bathroom very cramped toilet tight up against wall
Friendly staff
Small cramped room, small double bed, more like queen size. Slightly tatty decor (paint pealing in bathroom) Breakfast was cold.
Lovely old building , friendly staff
The property is less than 50 metres from the church, our room looked out onto the church which is a handsome building , however the church bells ring extremely loudly 3 times and hour and throughout the night making it impossible to sleep. I was absolutely shattered when leaving the PP.
Very good time
Very pleasant pub hotel. Staff were very friendly, the room was comfy, spotlessly keen Breakfsast was delicious: I had full English but they had several choices all included Lovely location: verry picturesque
The pub ddid not serve food on Mondays. Not a big deal, there were several other places in town, bit it was a shame as the atmosphere was nice
Breakfast was unreal, nice pleasant room
No wifi, couldn't change temperature on shower...permanently boiling
The front of house Harvey went over and above to accommodate the people in the 4 rooms we booked especially when we had a problem with luggage. Made our stay stress free
The manager had charged us for one night we had cancelled on one room and thankfully Booking.com were on hand to sort it out.
Fantastic breakfast, great location and really nice staff. Lovely place to stay and would certainly stop again.
Great location for my business in the NE. Staff were really great and the food too was super. Room was really comfortable. Great FOC drinks supplied. Nice bar as well.
WiFi needs improvement but that's it
The hotel was in the centre of the lovely little town of Sedgefield, which had lots of eating and drinking options. We booked because we were going to the nearby Sedgefield races.
Comfy rooms. Cosy dining room. Delicious breakfast. Friendly staff. Though we were initially double-charged - it was sorted quickly when we went back (shouldn’t have happened in first place).
All good.
