Lane to hotel
Super accessible and clean. Staff were very friendly and welcoming!
Food is very standard however was good enough for a 2 day stop over.
It is currently being decorated our room was lovely and the bathroom looked brand new. Nice breakfast but could do with offering slightly more for the cooked breakfast and replenishing the continental side more often.
You have to pay for private parking which isn’t advertised and it cost us over £25 for two nights.
Excellent value hotel considering it is so close to many attractions. Lot’s of modernisation underway whilst we were there so will no doubt get better. Nice cooked breakfast to order 👍
Have to pay for car parking
Staff were very helpful and freindly
Nice independent hotel, with some rustic charm.
A little run down, but the rooms were clean and excellent
Staff were so friendly and helpful. Needed to change to a downstairs room as I had injured my leg and they found us another room straight away even though they were full - very impressed
Only thing we didn't like was having to go home! Room was lovely , clean and very comfortable
Position by the canal
Tiny bathroom
The property was good and clean There was a problem with the toilet but the staff were very helpful and sorted it straight away
Location close to what we wanted
Bathroom would be a problem for bigger people
It was a lovely hotel set in a beautiful location. Pretty hotel, in a lovely rural location.
Unfortunately when I went to dinner on the Friday eve I was informed the restaurant was shut which wasn’t helpful as I then had to drive somewhere to find something to eat.
Perfect location and amazing place to stay .staff were great and accommodating.
We loved everything about it . The only let down really was the mattress in our room had no spring in it . You literally lay on the bed base . So would recommend looking into some new mattress but would stay again for sure.
Young staff team were amazing credit to the hotel. Room was lovely and spacious Breakfast was good Value for money was superb
Dining area looks tired and radiator was on in 37 degree heat Should be made clearer at point of booking about charges for car park
It’s a beautiful building and the internal garden is well looked after
My room was very dark, even with the light on, and very cold in a 27 degrees day!
Absolutely worst afternoon tea I’ve ever had. Four small finger sandwiches- two ham, one tuna/mayo and one chicken/mayo (I don’t eat mayo). Small cheap pork pie and half a scotch egg. Thin slice of Victoria sponge, tiny square of carrot cake and lemon drizzle( and I mean tiny). One very hard toasted tea cake with jam and cream. Guessing they had run out of scones but who has jam and cream with toasted tea cakes? It looked like something my small grandchildren would do playing “cafe”. Definitely would not recommend totally lacked colour and imagination.
What an amazing stay! Myself and my family from Cheshire booked in for 2 nights and we could not fault the place. The staff are extremely welcoming and could not do enough for us all. The rooms are all new and so clean with everything you need plus beautiful views of the courtyard. The food/breakfast was very nice also thanks to the chef. I would 100% come back to this beautiful hotel. Thanks again so much to the amazing staff.
We absolutely loved the property! It was very clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. The location was great, and the whole place had a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend it. We had Dinner which was really great . (We chose this hotel because we were attending a wedding at the Belfry) .. We were not disappointed. Freshly renovated rooms and a helpful team and approachable Manager. See you again from Louise, Charlotte, Rachael & Louis (Knutsford Cheshire)
Location fabulous, great staff
No air con and room small
The staff where good but I now they are doing it up but the picture looks nothing like how it is
There was nothing wrong but the room had just been painted and you could still smell
It was ideal for the wedding we attended and safe for children. Food was good and good value for money.
Stairs were all a bit steep and windey. We had a pram and it was difficult to get it up and down stairs
My room was cancelled and hour before arrival. I had to find alternative accomodation in a hurry.
Awful room, dirty and bare. The beds were old and the bathroom was so poor we only used the sink.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Marston Farm Hotel and couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by a lovely young lady on reception who was friendly, professional and made us feel at home straight away. Check-in was quick and easy, and she gave us all the information we needed. Our family room for two adults and two children had recently been refurbished and was absolutely beautiful. It was modern, spotless, spacious and very comfortable, with everything we needed for our stay. The attention to cleanliness throughout the hotel was exceptional. Although there were decorating works taking place, the staff carrying out the work were incredibly courteous and respectful to guests. They worked quietly and professionally, and it never disrupted the peaceful atmosphere of the hotel. The hotel itself is set in stunning grounds, with a beautiful central garden that is perfectly maintained and creates such a relaxing environment. We especially loved the canal just beyond the car park, which made for a lovely evening walk and added to the peaceful, tranquil setting. It really felt like the perfect place to unwind. The restaurant was excellent value for money, with delicious food and generous portions. Breakfast was included and offered a great selection of tasty food to start the day. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend Marston Farm Hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing, welcoming and beautiful place to stay. We will definitely be returning.
There wasn't much to dislike. The only negatives were that the car park and tennis court looked a little tired and didn't reflect how lovely the rest of the hotel is. The coffee at breakfast wasn't to my taste, but the food itself was very good. These were only minor issues and didn't spoil our stay.
I have just been for avternoon tea with a friend, it was an 'experience' in many ways. Looks nothing like the photos. I had read the reviews before hand but it was already booked so thought give it s go. Got there, no one on receptio , a mobile number to call whivh was invorrect as there was a number misdinb. Called main number just told by voice to call back later. No staff afounf so tried yo find the restaurant. Followed the signs but ended up back where we started. I am disabled and use a walking stick this place is not disabled friendly too many steps and uneven surfaces. We ended up being shown to the restaurant by one of the workmen working there he even helped me up the steps so thankyou Mr Workman. Luckily the afternoon tea was ok nothing special but better than anticipated from previous reviews. My friend being able bodied went to the toilet but said I would not manage the stairs. We specifically asked then if there was an accessible toilet and were told it was by reception. When we got there it was not an accessible toilet just a ladies room so I was unable to go. On the way out there was finally someone on reception, my friend mentioned the accessible toilet to be told she should have asked about it as they use one of the rooms for disabled for the toilet. She explained that was what she asked for. We got a garbled apology anf left. This hotel in my opinion is not at all disabled friendly, is very run down and is nothing like the photos on the website. I will be contacting Red Letter Days recommending they remove this from their list of experiences. Never again!
The lady who served on reception and the bar. Plenty of carparking. Breakfast was excellent.
Hardly any staff. The hotel looks jaded and needs a revamp.
We went for afternoon tea the food wasn’t great. The scones were that hard we struggled to cut them with a knife. We booked with buy a gift which stated it included a bottle of Prosecco to share. They gave us two small bottles. I asked to see the manager and she couldn’t be bothered to come and see us and sent another member of staff. 15 minutes later she walked through the restaurant!
Nothing
Friendly staff location suited myself
Thought it needed updating but didn’t spoil my stay
Room was lovely, very comfy and newly refurbished. Very clean.
Shower pressure was non existent, we couldn’t shower, was more of a trickle. Also weren’t pre-warned about the wedding being hosted during our stay and the DJ’s mic was so loud it kept waking the baby but this did stop by around midnight.
When I saw in details of place , a four star hotel in farm , sounded like a nice quite place , There was loud music blasting even after midnight , very tiny rooms , stairs are dangerously, much less than a feet . Have to put foot sideways . Staff there were very rude , when I ask last night about music , even worse this morning , all I wanted to know , if there is cancellation ( I have cancellation information from booking . Com
It was very handy for our visit the the belfry gold centre
Comfortable and handy being local to the pub for food and drink by the canal
I was given a £50 gift voucher for afternoon tea for two. What a disappointment Marston farm hotel was. Not even a full sandwich each. 1 quarter cheap thin ham. 1 quarter a very small amount of egg mayo. 1 quarter tuna mayo. Pork pie was cheap and no taste to it. Carrot cake was sawdust. Two scones that looked like they had been scrapped off the bottom of a very dirty oven. Definitely no where near £50 worth of food or surroundings. Room was empty apart from me and my sister. No background music. No atmosphere. Old curtains all torn and ragged. Only one ladies loo and it was at the top of a very steep flight of stairs. Corridors with old carpet. Place needs a complete overhaul. Smelling very old and musty. The hotel is at the end of a long driveway with very poor signage. If you’re thinking of going for afternoon tea don’t bother. Spend your money somewhere else
Did not have dinner and breakfast was okay
Hotel was under major renovation which we were not aware off in advance. It was like a construction site, had water issues, bar was not fully operational due to beer taps not been up and running. Having said that, hotel manager and staff were good and did everything possible within their reach to make the stay comfortable.
Room outdated but good lovation
Bathroom
Staff
No TV, no hot water. Breakfast poor standard. Rooms not ready for occupancy.
Friendly staff very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble
Lovely afternoon tea. Staff were very helpful when my mum and dad couldn’t walk far and took us a shortcut to the restaurant. Plenty of tea in cute crockery, copious top ups of tea. Lovely cakes and scones. Staff were great when my Dad felt a bit funny in the heat. Thanks for your kindness. Will definitely return.
Sitting on the decking of the room watching Sun down and the ducks fish in the water all out side your room
Lovely place to stay
Communication was good before the stay. I was changed from my booked Twin room, to a double, and given a newly refurbished room, which was lovely. Great shower, reliable temperature, nice new furnishings and well presented.
Fawlty Towers material everywhere I'm afraid. TV's purchased for the newly refurbished rooms were late to be delivered, so there was no TV in the room. Evening meals in the restaurant became unavailable at short notice on Saturday. This was due to the temperature I believe. No evening meal was available on Sunday evening. To get to my newly refurbished room, I was directed down a corridor that was clearly a work site, with site regulations notices, carpets protected by polythene sheets and work evidently in progress. Breakfast on Saturday morning included milk that was clearly on the turn. It was replaced as soon as I discretely mentioned it. I believe, as a result of a later conversation, that the fridges were unreliable and contents had been moved due to temperature fluctuations. Upstairs, where my room was located was less evidently a work site, until Monday morning when it was filled with copper piping and blocked with ladders being used by building trades. The highlight (???) was Monday breakfast... Continental only available, with the fire alarm going off half way through munching my bowl of cornflakes. Builders on the next table shrugged and vacated, saying they thought someone had set it off. As I was sitting next to open doors to the garden, I continued my breakfast as I could vacate pretty quickly if needed. The alarm continued for 5 minutes before a member of staff appeared to apologise and explain that they couldn't turn off the alarm because painters had painted the box containing the control panel, and it stuck shut, require a knife to prize it open! I understand the pressure to keep selling rooms in a hotel undergoing refurbishment, but seriously, is this even legally acceptable? No (partial) refund was offered for these unavailable services. The newly refurbished room was lovely, but the main light could only be switched at the entry door, not beside the bed.
On arrival told that my accesable room was not available as it was being refurbished, consider that I booked in march for this very important weekend, I was left high and dry the room offered was upstairs with no lift and was told by the receptionist that I had been notified that morning, considering my journey was 150 miles and had no communication before leaving home what was I to do,no alternative accomodation was reccomended if it had'nt been for my daughter and grandson we would have been left high and dry. We are pensioners in our 70s and would not reccomend this place to anyone, INCONSIDERATE SELFISH PEOPLE ,NO MANAGEMENT AVAILABLE JUST LEFT TO YOUNG RECEPIONIST
It smelled damp, it had no air conditioning and was not a 4 Star hotel. The room was tiny. I checked out immediately and the receptionist said that I should contact Bookings.com to claim my refund and the Hotel would approve the refund.
The room was clean
The room was extremely hot, the bed felt as though it had an electric blanket. I needed the windows open but it was above the bar and restaurant area and everyone was sat outside below my bedroom window until late. No fans available and hotel receptionist said there was only one fan and she has it as she has bought it from home. When I went down for breakfast I realised why my room was so warm it was because the heating was on in the bar and restaurant area even though it was in a heatwave and had been over 30c. The most uncomfortable nights sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel.
Nothing specific
No hot water. Breakfast was cold.
It was in a very pretty setting
The place was a bit tired and could do with a facelift. Also there were builders drilling and banging until 5.30, which spoilt the atmosphere, which would have been good as the setting was very peaceful.
The location
Nothing
Breakfast was great. Good value Location absolutely superb canal walks House keeping made beds. Tidying up while we there nice touch We liked the hotel and staff. Only minor complaints
Quite a Few cobwebs on the beams in the room the rest of the room was clean TV did not work Little bit better cleaning of floor in the dining area a chip was on the floor from the night before at breakfast. Doors low husband hit his head several times as he tall better warning need Perhaps a proper single bed and not a z bed would have been better Overall was great.
Faded grandeur but back on its way up. The honesty of the place. My room was clearly recently refurbished with a brand new en suite
Lovely place
Out in the middle of nowhere and difficult to find, sat nav doesn't take you to the actual place, you have to keep driving after sat nav says you have arrived, the bed was very hard so very difficult to sleep
Lovely grounds, clean and comfortable room, pleasant staff, decent breakfast. Very quiet at night, we had a great sleep. Great value for money.
It was all perfect
The accessibility
Noise from the workmen when wanted to sleep
Nothing
Run down, the breakfast was shocking , we refused to eat it , everything was cold . 2 waiting staff were very rude . We ordered our breakfast , 5 people and within minutes it was brought to the table , the only thing hot was the egg .
Location
Some colleagues who had rooms in the eves could not open the windows. Keiras room had no fan and was boiling hot. No shower and just a bath
Lovely staff members working to make us welcome in a property that is slowly being renovated.
No towel rail in bathroom. Bedding was clean but window frames were dirty, I do understand that renovations will gradually improve the state of the building. Fair price for overnight stay with breakfast whilst the venue is awaiting improvements.
Very hot in room but it was heatwave! and south facing!!
The location and easy parking. The breakfast was good
First room. Toilet wet the floor when flushed. Bedside light didn't work. Chair was broken Second room. Hot water tap would not turn off Restaurant menu very limited. Mainly burgers. Most things were not avaliable on second night
The location was great and the staff were lovely. The place was nice
It needs done up
The staff were very friendly & very helpful.
Room had stains on the roof Bed felt damp the shower wasn't great as you couldn't lift it above shoulder height or it would stop. tv was vey small no fan or air conditioning Breakfast was poor, over cooked sausages, hash browns were all brown no has.
The courtyard and the staff.
The room was like a sauna. No acon or fans available. Shower was a trickle, no ice in the bar and food not good.
Staff great but hotel needs a good refub
Around the windows very grubby Taps both in sink and bath dripping at lot of water
Bit tired but bedrooms all modernised was
Great value for money, spacious room & bathroom
Poor water pressure with the showers but I believe that was being looked at
the bed was very comfortable
the shower did not work
De locatie is prachtig. Landelijk. Groen. Fijn personeel.
Staff friendly and helpful.
The room. No bedside cabinets. No mirror in room. Only one light (spotlight) with switch by door. Only told as we checked in that the restaurant was closed that evening. Did email the hotel to advise them of the poor review I intended to send, giving them chance to respond first, but got no reply. Tried the email I found on a website which didn't work, so rang the hotel on the Monday morning and used the email address I was given.
Very welcoming to our dog. Good car park, quiet hotel and garden close to canal.
The hotel was being renovated and there was no carpet on the staircases- just underlsy and sharp grippers. Low water pressure for shower.
It was close to where I was visiting, in a rural location. The canal was at the edge of the property with lovely walks to a local pub and nature area
It had a dated and neglected feel about it. The first room I had- was dark and had a strange smell. The tv didn’t work so I was moved to another room. This one was lovely with a nice view, however there was no toilet seat or sink plug.
Breakfast was good except for the tomatoes. Room was really comfortable but it didn’t have a reading light, only the main light, staff very friendly
Reading light in room, useable lounge and a dining room, though dinner at dog and doublet was brilliant,
Ok enjoyed my stay
I have my wedding there last year. Happy memories.
Builders there.
Staff were very friendly and location was brilliant as we were playing golf at belfry. And only few miles from Tamworth for night out
It is a lovely location, very friendly and kind staff. Room very clean.
I think being informed that there is building works ongoing. Lack of signage and information in room? No side tables in room to put things on. Loud annoying fan in bathroom. Breakfast underwhelming no menu or anything to choose from. Mattress very hard.
A very tired hotel that needs a bit of love and attention. The courtyard garden was pretty but like the rest of the place needed a tidy up.
Full english breakfast was practically cold when served.
Chose of breakfast items excellent. Bedding and pillows really good. Staff were excellent.
Room dark and dingy, not enough lighting
Nothing
Noisy
Location and staff
Rooms and breakfast
Their was only one mirror, which was in the bathroom, but no plug to use a hairdryer. There were 10 powerpoints in the bed room, but on mirror to help blow wave hair. No bedside tables. Mattress was rock hard
cancellation at last minute on tuesday 2nd due to the hotel had no water need credit back
Nice place to stay
Evening meals was very poor wouldn’t eat there again but breakfast was good
It was far away from the main road.
-Dripping bath tap in the bathroom to be told it is awaiting a plumber. -cracked toilet -over 8 minutes to be served for a drink and then when served, the lady was unaware of what drinks was sold and then decided to pour a pint for the chef before going to check if they did drinks. -when we had eaten and drank, no sign of the lady. So we had to leave and pay when we found her which was just before we went out to be told to wait as she diddnt know what we had ordered and needed to go back to the bar to get the order. -no soft drinks at 10.30 at night when it states drinks will be available until 11pm. -bits of toilet roll over the floor upon arrival. -knobs missing off the drawers -dead spider on the tv -plug socket by the dressing table was loose and made a noise if plug was not in properly. -cobwebs all over the ceiling. -did text the number as could not find staff and had no response. More Photos were taken and can be included.
Nothing
everything
Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Had some difficulty finding the place, satnav took us the wrong place but over all nothing really to moan about.
No hot water in room
Location and gardens. The younger staff did a good job in difficult circumstances. Chicken burger was very good but my sons garlic bread was forgotten and then when we got it, it was obviously reheated in a microwave.
When we arrived, we were in a double room even when it clearly said twin on our booking and confirmation. They were found 2 singles. My husband turned on the hot tap in the sink, and it threw out a jet of steam that he is lucky didn't burn him and it set off the fire alarm which knocked out the electricity. They were moved to a twin room for the second night that was not comfortable and beside a marquee for an event. They were told there would be no restaurant for the second night. We had chocolate to leave in the room but due to having to move that was left in the car and melted. When my husband was leaving he commented about the hot water incident and was told be an older woman that they were having work done and nobody had checked the the work was done correctly or safe.
Hotel was in a secluded but beautiful location.
The bed mattress could use replacing. It was very ‘pokey’.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was nice.
The rooms were very dated. We asked for a extra bed in the room before our arrival, but there wasn't one. The hot water in the sink tap was scalding hot, but not hot water in the shower. The fire alarm went off at 11.30pm, because someone had a shower and did not close the bathroom door - the steam from the shower set the alarm off.
Comfortable bed, large room, generally quiet situation.
The room was “tired” especially the bathroom which had missing fittings including shower head, and a cracked basin.
Lovely location, 10 mins drive from Drayton manor theme park.
TV in room didn't work. Difficult to locate any staff when arrived at breakfast. Put request on booking for a double and single bed in family room. Got a triple with 3 single beds. Asked about a takeaway out sandwich for theme park next day, but no one got back to me and no one on reception desk just a key drop.
Fantastic setting in beautiful countryside setting. Ample parking. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Lovely tea room, quirky and traditional. Superb friendly staff. Ample tea and coffee, refilled throughout experience. Not rushed at all. Fabulous selection of food. Superb scones with amazing clotted cream and individual pots of jam. 3 additional slices of cake each. Gorgeous brownie and other traditional cakes. Two ham rolls, two cheese and onion and two egg sandwiches, all on different types of bread. Side salad too. Brilliant staff member, very friendly, lovely atmosphere. Place is being renovated by new owners at present so can't wait to see how it looks later in the year. Will definitely be back
The views were outstanding. The staff were extremely friendly, especially a young man called Nathan. Breakfast was lovely, a wide variety for the kids as well.
The decor is a little dated needs a little TLC. And the cold tap in my room didn’t work.
Location
The rooms were old and worn. Curtains hanging off poles. Holes in wall. Was told not to use heater in room or it would trip the electric. No hot water
